The Top-Tier School Hunk Has Been Targeted by the Cold CEO - Chapter 8
Bai Yang raised the hairdryer in his hand. “I brought this for you.”
Upon seeing it, Yan Xun immediately smiled. “Brother, you are far too kind!”
As he spoke, he reached out to take the hairdryer, but to his surprise, Bai Yang moved it slightly out of reach. Yan Xun looked at him, puzzled.
Bai Yang pointed to the water droplets on his hands. “Let me do it. It is not safe to handle it with wet hands.”
“You? You are going to blow-dry it for me?” Yan Xun was stunned.
Bai Yang replied, “It is just a small favor.”
Yan Xun shook his head repeatedly, wiped his hands dry on a towel, and snatched the hairdryer away. “Brother, I am a grown man with my own hands and feet. Letting someone else dry my hair would make me feel like a sissy. I am not that delicate.”
Bai Yang’s gaze darkened. “I see. Then dry your hair and get some rest early.”
“Okay.”
Before leaving the room, Bai Yang looked back once more. The boy, flushed pink from the bath, was making strange and goofy faces at the mirror even while drying his hair. It was eccentric, yet cute.
Yan Xun slept very well. The bed was soft and the temperature was perfect. The only minor drawback was that the room felt a bit too large and empty when he woke up.
He walked downstairs and found breakfast already prepared on the table, featuring both Western and Chinese dishes. Bai Yang, dressed in a well-fitted suit, was standing by the floor-to-ceiling window making a phone call. The morning sunlight fell upon him, lending a touch of soft warmth to his cold, sharp gaze.
He turned around and smiled at Yan Xun.
Yan Xun was speechless. He was being dazzled by a man handsomer than himself first thing in the morning! After finishing the call, Bai Yang walked over and asked gently, “Did you sleep well last night?”
Yan Xun nodded. “I slept great. Thanks, Brother.”
Bai Yang gave a faint smile. “It is nothing. No need to be so polite. Have breakfast first, and I will drive you back to school afterward.”
Yan Xun tried to decline. “No need. I can just take the subway back myself.”
Bai Yang dismissed the idea with a single sentence. “This location is quite secluded. There are no subway stations nearby, and catching a taxi is inconvenient. I will drive you; it is on my way.”
Yan Xun stopped protesting. After finishing his meal, he followed Bai Yang into the passenger seat of the Bentley. He had been too tired the night before and fell asleep as soon as he got in, but now he had the time to admire the car.
Male college students were always interested in cars. Yan Xun could not help but touch here and look there, his face alive with envious expressions.
Bai Yang caught this out of the corner of his eye. “Do you know how to drive?”
Yan Xun nodded. “I have a license, but I never get the chance to use it.”
He had passed his driving test last summer, but as a student, he had no opportunities to drive. Bai Yang suggested, “We can swap places at the next intersection and let you drive?”
Yan Xun waved his hands frantically. “No way, Brother! This is the morning rush hour. I do not want to be a road hazard. Even if I do not value my own life, I have to consider the safety of innocent people.”
Bai Yang did not say anything more. When the light turned green, he started the car again. A moment later, he said seemingly casually, “If you want to drive in the future, I can accompany you for some practice.”
“Sure, thanks, Brother!”
Just as Yan Xun finished thanking him, the phone in his pocket rang. He glanced at the caller ID, and his smile froze on his face. Seeing this, Bai Yang watched as he declined the call and turned off the phone entirely.
Bai Yang asked tentatively, “A fight with your girlfriend?”
Yan Xun scoffed. “Brother, where would I get a girlfriend? If I had a girlfriend, would I have been tricked into that singles mixer?”
Mentioning the mixer reminded Yan Xun of the scene at the hotel that day, and his cheeks instantly flushed crimson. He shook his head vigorously, forcing himself to calm down. Perhaps to ease the awkwardness, he began to vent without thinking.
“Brother, thank goodness I met you that day. Otherwise, I do not know whose old man’s bed I would have been sent to! These old men are truly perverted. With their money, what kind of girls could they not get? Why must they do the man-on-man thing? Two guys together, that is just so disgusting.”
Before Yan Xun could finish, Bai Yang slammed on the brakes, causing Yan Xun to swallow the rest of his words in fright. Yan Xun looked forward in confusion. “Brother, what happened?”
Bai Yang’s expression was very grim. After a pause, he said casually, “It is nothing. A stray cat ran past.”
With that, he stepped on the accelerator again. Bai Yang asked nonchalantly, “Are you homophobic? Then why did you go to that mixer?”
Yan Xun then babbled on about the whole story. He did not know if it was just his imagination, but after he finished explaining, he noticed that the aura around Bai Yang had become much colder.
“Brother,” Yan Xun called out softly.
Bai Yang remained expressionless, simply stopping the car at the crossroads in front of the school gate. “We are here.”
Yan Xun snapped back to his senses and opened the car door. He wanted to say a proper goodbye to Bai Yang, but before he could even raise his hand, the car sped away.
Yan Xun was stunned. Before he could figure out what was wrong, the school bell rang. It was the morning rush; he was in a hurry for class, and Bai Yang must be in a hurry for work too! Thinking this, Yan Xun did not take the minor detail to heart. He turned and sprinted toward the classroom.
After a heavy rain, Haicheng officially entered autumn. The university campus was covered in golden fallen leaves that danced in the wind, looking beautiful and romantic. On the way to the classrooms, one could always see couples taking photos and chasing each other in the romantic scenery.
As a “single dog,” Yan Xun suffered a sweet critical hit every day on his way to class. To make matters worse, as soon as class ended, his three roommates ran off faster than anyone else. Before Yan Xun could even finish packing his books, the three of them had vanished.
Yan Xun grumbled with a cold face, “Those bastards, choosing girls over friends! Every Friday, they rush to be ‘simps.’ If I ever get a girlfriend, I definitely will not be like you unfilial sons!”
Just as he finished speaking, he saw Li He, who had just disappeared, rushing back.
Yan Xun’s eyes lit up. “Buddy, I knew you were a real one, staying behind to keep me company.”
Li He smiled apologetically. “You misunderstood.”
Yan Xun was confused. Li He pulled a work badge from his pocket and shoved it into Yan Xun’s hand, pleading with a bow, “This is an emergency! If you are my brother, help me out! It is my girlfriend’s sister’s birthday, and I have to go to show support. Can you take over my part-time job tonight?”
Li He and Yan Xun came from similar family backgrounds and had done many part-time jobs together. When their schedules clashed, they would often cover for each other. This was not the first time, so Yan Xun did not think much of it. However, when he saw the job title on the work badge, he was so shocked he nearly lost his ability to speak.
“No, buddy, are you joking with me? What on earth is this AA Male Model Dining Bar? This part-time job does not look decent at all! Are you trying to sell me off?”
