- Chapter 6 - Lu "Living Widower" Yubai
Lu Yubai: “Is ‘doing it’ okay?”
Yan Chi: “…”
His pupils constricted slightly, and he let out a sharp, muffled cough. That noble face was instantly covered in dark clouds, turning gloomy and cold. The gentleness of a moment ago vanished like passing smoke.
He said sternly, “Please do not say things like that ever again. It is not funny.”
The tone of Yan Chi’s voice made Lu Yubai’s throat go dry. Lu Yubai awkwardly reached out to touch his nose, cursing inwardly: Yan Chi, you stingy ghost!
Humph.
A hint of grievance was hidden deep in his eyes as he looked at Yan Chi.
“Didn’t Director Yan tell me to speak up if I needed anything? And now you say no? Is the great Director Yan a liar? Hmm?”
Yan Chi: “…”
“This is an exception,” he said, grave and serious.
Lu Yubai grumbled as he got into the car and drove Yan Chi back. Before Yan Chi got out, Lu Yubai asked, “What time do you get off tonight? I’ll pick you up. We can move your things to our house while we’re at it.”
He lingered on the word “our,” drawing it out with a teasing, sultry tone.
Yan Chi pulled a key from his pocket and handed it to him. “I am not going back tonight. Find some time to have a spare key made.”
Lu Yubai’s expression soured, his face full of disdain. “You aren’t coming home on the first day we registered our marriage? It seems Director Yan is not only a liar but also a bad man who doesn’t come home.”
Yan Chi: “…”
Lu Yubai yanked the key forcefully from his palm. He hated the current Yan Chi! Yan Chi was not being good to him at all. On the day of their marriage registration, he had to guard the house all by himself.
Lu “Living Widower” Yubai.
He dispatched people from Jinghua to pick up the porcelain vase, but he still had one matter to clear up. He had to make a trip.
The Office
“Student Lu Xingchuan, your behavior is atrocious! How could you strike a classmate so violently? You are a university student now; this kind of thing could lead to detention!”
“I have already called your guardian. You must apologize to them immediately! There might still be room to maneuver this situation!”
The teacher tapped a pen on the desk while scolding Lu Xingchuan. Lu Xingchuan’s gaze was cold. The stubbornness in his eyes burned brighter with every word of the teacher’s scolding; he had no intention of admitting fault.
“Maneuver? Apologize? Why don’t you ask what Jiang Ming did? He should be the one apologizing to me, shouldn’t he?”
Lu Xingchuan found it laughable. Jiang Ming had violated so many school rules, yet instead of dealing with him, the school was punishing the one who stood up for what was right! He knew this teacher was nothing but a snob who fawned over power.
The man standing nearby, seeing that Lu Xingchuan would not admit fault, had no intention of letting the matter drop. He pointed at the boy and cursed, “My son has broken ribs! And you don’t have a single word of apology? Was your upbringing eaten by a dog? Or are your parents all dead, leaving a mad dog like you out to bite people? I am telling you, our family is not short on money! I want you to kowtow and apologize to my son in front of the whole school. Otherwise, just wait to be expelled! You lowly Omega!”
The man’s words grew increasingly foul, yet the teacher made no move to stop him. Because the man owned an internet company and had a long-term partnership with the school, a common class advisor would naturally not offend them for someone like Lu Xingchuan. The teacher did not even say a word in his defense; all the arrogance used to berate Lu Xingchuan earlier had vanished.
“Say that one more time!”
Lu Xingchuan’s fists clenched, and a faint scent of musk emanated from him. It was a warning pheromone. If he were an Alpha, it might have carried some weight, but he was only an Omega, a low-grade one at that. Based on pheromones alone, he could not intimidate anyone, especially since the opponent was a Beta.
However, the man saw that the boy’s fists were still clenched, and his fierce gaze was like that of a wolf. But an “Omega-wolf” was not even as good as a dog.
“What, you want to get physical with me? What do you think you are? Do you know who I am? You aren’t a local, are you? This is Jiangcheng! Go around Jiangcheng and ask about me, Jiang Hua!”
BANG!
Jiang Hua was in the middle of proudly bragging about the Jiang family’s status when he was sent flying by the door being kicked open. He tumbled to the ground, falling face-first in a pathetic heap.
“Lu Xingchuan!”
An angry roar echoed from the doorway. The person arrived with the voice. At the entrance, a beam of sunlight followed a tall, dark figure whose shadow loomed over Jiang Hua on the floor. In his blurred vision, Jiang Hua could only see a man dressed in a sharp black suit. He frantically reached around to find his glasses, which had gone flying.
Lu Yubai glanced at him indifferently, his eyes filled with a chilling aura. As he stepped past Jiang Hua, he kept his chin tilted up and crushed the man’s hand under his leather shoe. Jiang Hua howled in pain.
Only then did the teacher react, running over to help Jiang Hua up and into a seat. When Lu Yubai reached Lu Xingchuan, the anger in the younger boy’s eyes had not dissipated.
He said stubbornly, “Brother, I won’t apologize. Nothing you say will matter.”
Seeing Lu Xingchuan act like this, and having just been sent flying by the man in the suit, Jiang Hua was fuming with nowhere to vent his rage. He stood up, pointed at Lu Yubai, and barked, “So you are his brother? It really is true that birds of a feather flock together! Your brother breaks my son’s ribs, and now you have made a mess of me! This matter is not over! I won’t let you off! I will make sure he is kicked out of this school, and I will make it so you can never set foot in Jiangcheng again!”
Jiang Hua’s words were incredibly arrogant. Lu Yubai was tired of hearing it; his brow furrowed slightly.
“Lu Xingchuan, go outside and wait for me.”
Lu Xingchuan opened his mouth to speak but was immediately cut off. Lu Yubai raised his voice and repeated, “Get out!”
Lu Xingchuan obeyed and left. On the side, Jiang Hua was dissatisfied. “This has not been settled yet! How can you let him go out?”
He was interrupted by Lu Yubai: “I can make the decisions for him!”
The gaze Lu Yubai directed at Jiang Hua was sharp and piercing. Jiang Hua did not argue further, assuming he was just another target to deal with. The moment Lu Xingchuan closed the door and left, a heavy punch landed squarely on Jiang Hua’s face. Half of his face instantly became red and swollen.
It took Jiang Hua two seconds to realize he had been hit! Fury erupted in his chest, and he swung his fist to strike back.
But suddenly, a thick, red wine-scented warning pheromone burst into the air. Everyone in the office was suppressed so heavily they could hardly breathe. Jiang Hua was crushed so completely he could not even straighten his back; his knees buckled, and he fell into a kneel.
The pheromones were too rich. Even he could smell them. This was an S-class Alpha!
Lu Yubai pulled a business card from his suit and slapped it hard against Jiang Hua’s face.
“I won’t let you off, either. Jiangcheng is not small, but your presence here is a bit redundant.”
With that, he walked away with crisp, clean steps. At the door, he reined in his pheromones before opening it. At that moment, Jiang Hua and the teacher were staring at the card Lu Yubai had dropped on the floor, their bodies breaking out in a cold sweat.
It was—Jinghua CEO, Lu Yubai!
The reputation of the Jiangcheng tyrant, Lu Yubai, remained legendary even after three years.
“They… how could they be brothers?”
