- Chapter 9 - The Tycoon with a Mental Illness (9)
Lin Junqing pushed frantically against Xie Lin’s chest, trying to put some distance between them. Xie Lin felt incredibly dangerous right now; he feared he might be buried here today. Seeing Lin Junqing’s fear, Xie Lin quickly suppressed his smile and gently grasped his hands. “Are you trying to push me away? I will not allow it.”
Noticing the dark, gloomy look in Xie Lin’s eyes, Lin Junqing suddenly regained his senses and urged him to calm down.
Xie Lin swiftly pulled off the belt of his bathrobe, bound Lin Junqing’s hands with a few deft movements, and whispered, “I cannot calm down, and I do not want to. Do not blame me, and certainly do not hate me. I just like you too much; that is why I cannot control myself. Relax, I will not let you get hurt. I studied this carefully online; I have experience.”
As Xie Lin moved closer, Lin Junqing was completely stunned. Get hurt? Hate him? Experience? What was Xie Lin talking about? Why could he not understand a single word?
When Xie Lin came closer, Lin Junqing resisted with all his might. He did not like men, especially someone like Xie Lin, who was tall, strong, and possessed such an overwhelming presence. Sensing the resistance, Xie Lin held him down without a second thought. That night, the ripples in the hot spring water continued until the early hours of the morning.
Lin Junqing slept until the following afternoon. As soon as he opened his eyes, he felt pain all over; his limbs were heavy and his muscles ached. The frenzied and abnormal Xie Lin from the previous night flashed through his mind. Xie Lin must have had an episode; ignoring his pleas for mercy, he had apologized while cruelly bullying him.
Lin Junqing pulled the quilt over his head in a complicated mood and asked the system, “What is the situation? Does Xie Lin like men? Or does he only like men when he has an episode?”
System: “I do not know. I am just an auxiliary system; I do not understand human emotions. I searched online for Xie Lin’s behavior last night; he should, probably, possibly, maybe like you, Host.”
Lin Junqing scratched his hair in frustration. “But I do not like him. I do not like men.”
Just thinking about last night made his stomach churn with a nauseating urge to vomit. The system wanted to comfort him, but not knowing what to say, it finally blurted out dryly, “Host, you have suffered.”
It never expected that Xie Lin would actually be attracted to Lin Junqing. Lin Junqing had spent the whole time worrying that Xie Lin would kill him, only to have Xie Lin do that to him instead. At this moment, he did not know which was worse: dying or being alive.
After Lin Junqing remained motionless for a long time, Xie Lin, unable to watch any longer, sat on the edge of the bed and lifted the quilt. He asked with a gentle gaze, “Are you hungry? I made the lean meat porridge you like.”
If Lin Junqing had even a shred of strength left, he would have splashed the porridge in Xie Lin’s face. He took deep breaths to stay calm, and seeing Xie Lin returned to his usual demeanor, he cautiously asked, “Do you remember what happened last night?”
Xie Lin raised an eyebrow slightly, his voice soft. “Of course. I will never forget it; I will remember it for the rest of my life.”
Lin Junqing gasped. Gritting his teeth, he continued, “Do you like men?”
Xie Lin shook his head very seriously. “No, I only like you.”
Lin Junqing was even more confused. “What do you like about me?” It was not that he was belittling himself, but he truly lacked any standout qualities, and he could not imagine what Xie Lin saw in him. He was just an ordinary person—not as talented as Chen Dong, and nowhere near as good-looking as the influencers who tried to please Xie Lin.
After Lin Junqing had fallen asleep from exhaustion, Xie Lin had braced himself for Lin Junqing’s rage. He had guarded the bedside without closing his eyes. He never expected Lin Junqing to communicate so calmly upon waking. He could not help but wonder: did Lin Junqing not find him repulsive?
Xie Lin leaned in close to Lin Junqing and kissed his forehead piously. “I do not know what I like about you. I only know that the moment I first saw you, I liked you very much. You are too slow; no matter how many hints I gave, you never caught on.”
After being kissed, Lin Junqing pushed him away with a swift hand, refusing to let him get any closer. There was a famous saying on the internet: “When boys are out and about, they must protect themselves well.”
Lin Junqing asked very calmly, “Are you going to trap me on this island? When you lose control of your emotions, will you kill me?”
Xie Lin was shocked. He did not know why Lin Junqing had such a terrifying thought, but he promised earnestly, “Even if I hurt myself, I would not hurt you. Once you agree to date me, we will leave.”
Lin Junqing turned his head away, afraid he would lose his temper and start cursing. Xie Lin was threatening him; if he never accepted Xie Lin, would he be trapped on this island forever? Xie Lin was using his freedom to force his hand.
By evening, Lin Junqing was hungry. Having no backbone, he ate the meal Xie Lin prepared. He was lying down, unable to move, aching all over—all because of Xie Lin. Since Xie Lin cooked for him, he would not only eat it, he would eat two bowls.
When Lin Junqing was angry, he comforted himself internally: “Xie Lin is a lunatic; I should not hold it against a lunatic.” It was just a loss of dignity; once he recovered, he would be a new man.
At night, Xie Lin lifted the quilt to sleep on the other side. Lin Junqing’s body stiffened instantly, his heart pounding heavily, terrified that Xie Lin would turn into a beast again. Seeing Lin Junqing’s tension, Xie Lin—though he wanted to do more—knew Lin Junqing’s body needed rest. He patted his back gently. “Don’t worry, I will not touch you tonight.” He had applied the medicine himself the night before and knew the injuries needed time to heal.
Lin Junqing prepared to stay awake all night, fearing what Xie Lin might do if he fell asleep. Ten minutes later, Xie Lin propped himself up, watching the fast-asleep Lin Junqing. He smiled and took Lin Junqing’s hand, interlacing their fingers. He had anticipated that Lin Junqing would be on guard and, fearing Lin Junqing would not get enough sleep, had put sedative powder in the porridge.
In the morning, Lin Junqing was woken up by the system. “Host, wake up! Xie Lin has been staring at you with the eyes of a hungry wolf. If you do not wake up, he is going to bully you again.”
Lin Junqing snapped awake. He turned to see Xie Lin smiling at him and blurted out, “I do not like men. I like girls. Forced melons are never sweet.”
Xie Lin pressed his lips together, displeased, and gently smoothed Lin Junqing’s messy hair. “I know. Whether it is sweet does not matter; I just want to eat the melon. Everything in this world can change, and the fact that you do not like me will change too.”
Sensing Xie Lin’s bad mood, Lin Junqing continued, “Even if you trap me on this island for the rest of my life, I will not like you.”
Xie Lin pursed his lips into a deadpan expression and said nothing.
The system sounded frantic: “Host, stop provoking him! His sunshine value was 8 this morning, and now it is -5.”
Lin Junqing was serious: “Do you want me to lie to him just to boost his sunshine value? I do not like men. I cannot give him false hope; that would harm not only me but Xie Lin as well.”
The system was close to tears: “But Host, he is a mental patient! He brought you to an island! Being honest with him will only infuriate him; he will not let you go.”
Xie Lin looked relaxed and spoke casually, “Living here for the rest of our lives is quite nice. I will do the cooking, and you just take care of eating.”
Lin Junqing sat up abruptly, his expression grave. “Imprisoning someone is illegal.”
Xie Lin tilted his head and showed an innocent smile. “You are so naive. The whole company knows we are dating, and you posted on social media that you were coming on vacation with me. If you say I am imprisoning you, who would believe it? Everyone will just think you are having a lovers’ spat with me. Besides, I am not holding you captive; you can go anywhere you want.”
Lin Junqing did not want to bother with him anymore, only to find his phone missing. Needless to say, Xie Lin must have taken it.
The system asked: “Host, do you want me to report him to the police?”
Lin Junqing was silent for a while. “Forget it. Xie Lin has not actually harmed me. He is right; everyone thinks we are together. If I claim Xie Lin forced me, I still have my pride—I do not want to die of social embarrassment.” If he had to go get a medical exam for injuries, he would die of shame.
After two days of rest, Lin Junqing lived a life where he only had to open his mouth to be fed. If Xie Lin did something excessive, he would console himself by remembering Xie Lin was a mental patient. As long as Xie Lin did not touch him at night, he could endure it. Xie Lin did not restrict his movement, but he had taken away the phone so Lin Junqing could not contact the outside world. There was a TV and a tablet in the bedroom, but they were limited to watching television or playing single-player games—all social platforms were blocked.
At night, after Lin Junqing fell asleep, Xie Lin moved closer. Lin Junqing, half-asleep, was pinned down and acted on reflex, trying to hit him. Xie Lin effortlessly flipped him over, kept him pinned, and chuckled pleasantly, giving him a chance. “If you can beat me, I will let you go and never touch you again.”
Half an hour later, Lin Junqing was as exhausted as a dog, lacking even the strength to lift his hand, forced to let Xie Lin bully him.
The next afternoon, Lin Junqing woke up to find Xie Lin still lying next to him. Furious, he lashed out with his claws. Three streaks of blood appeared on Xie Lin’s face.
The system sounded terrified: “Host, why did you scratch him? What if he gets angry and kills you? You are on a small island where calling for help is useless!”
Lin Junqing was also a little scared but gathered his courage. “I already scratched him, what else can I do? I am certainly not going to apologize. Xie Lin is a bastard, an insidious son of a bitch.”
His strength was negligible; Xie Lin had held back several times the night before, making him see a glimmer of hope amidst despair, only to have his energy drained and be left at Xie Lin’s mercy. He wanted to strangle Xie Lin, but his reason told him he could not.
Xie Lin was bleeding. Lin Junqing had put all his strength into it, and coupled with nails he had not trimmed for a week, it was no wonder he bled. Seeing Xie Lin staring at him, Lin Junqing glared back fiercely. “What are you looking at? I scratched you on purpose.”
Seeing Lin Junqing’s ears were red with anger, Xie Lin took out his phone, pointed it at his injured face, made sure Lin Junqing was in the frame, and posted: ‘I think I went too far last night; this morning, my darling gave me a claw mark.’
Xie Lin posted it to social media right in front of Lin Junqing. Lin Junqing trembled with rage at the shameless act. “You actually took a photo and posted it, and you filmed me too! You have no shame!”
Xie Lin was thick-skinned. “Striking is affection, scolding is love. I went too far last night; you are right to be angry. Have you vented yet? If not, come hit this side of my face too; symmetrical claw marks will look even better.”
After saying this, Xie Lin actually leaned his other cheek toward Lin Junqing.
