The Silly Prince Successfully Cancels the Engagement, But the Fiancée is His Childhood Sweetheart - Chapter 30
Chapter 30: The Title
The days spent reflecting at home felt extraordinarily long and boring. Even though Xiang Zhuo tried hard to dedicate his whole self to training, a thought would unexpectedly pop into his mind:
What clothes should I wear for the dinner?
Under the Crown Prince’s long-awaited anticipation, that day finally arrived.
Bai Qing had scheduled the time for 6:30 PM. From 3:00 PM, Xiang Zhuo had locked himself in the cloakroom, sometimes muttering to himself in front of the mirror, and sometimes flipping through the closet, trying on clothes.
Formal wear?
The silver-gray suit was exquisite and elegant. He slicked back all his hair, exposing his forehead, making him look sharply “angular” and handsome.
No—too formal!
Xiang Zhuo immediately let down his hair and stripped off the suit.
Casual wear?
A ginger-yellow T-shirt paired with a denim vest. His black hair was slightly messy but still possessed a striking handsomeness. He looked full of vitality.
No—too ordinary!
Xiang Zhuo quickly took off this outfit too.
No matter how he paired them, Xiang Zhuo was dissatisfied. After fussing for most of the afternoon, Xiang Zhuo was still only wrapped in a bath towel, sighing heavily on the sofa.
What should I wear?
Xiang Zhuo suddenly looked up and saw himself in the mirror.
With narcissistic confidence, he spoke to the person in the mirror: “Since you are so sincere, I will reluctantly agree to accompany you for this meal.”
He immediately changed his expression, turned, faced the mirror sideways, lowered his eyes, his expression indifferent, and his voice became calm: “Thank you for your assistance this time.”
He was perfectly imitating Bai Qing’s usual demeanor!
Xiang Zhuo, in a moment of self-splitting, turned again, facing the mirror with his other side: “It was nothing. Don’t mention it.”
Xiang Zhuo scratched his head, then faced the mirror again, seemingly dissatisfied with his previous answer. He used his finger to lift the corner of his mouth into a smile: “It’s fine. I’m happy to be able to help you.”
Xiang Zhuo then mimicked Bai Qing again: “You seem a little different today.”
Xiang Zhuo blurted out: “Oh really? Maybe it’s because of the new hairstyle.”
After saying that, he slapped his own mouth.
That’s too careless of an answer!
“Because I’m going to see you, I prepared specially.”
That’s too frivolous!
No matter how hard he tried, Xiang Zhuo felt he couldn’t gain the upper hand in this self-dialogue. He lay back helplessly, his heart thumping loudly.
How am I supposed to formally date the Omega I like…
Suddenly, Xiang Zhuo’s peripheral vision caught a pure black T-shirt tossed on the end of the sofa. He then looked at the scissors on the table and fell into deep thought…
…
Bai Qing stood at the entrance of Jin Lu, gazing absentmindedly at the hovercar lanes on the distant horizon.
Suddenly, he heard the roar of an internal combustion engine drawing nearer. The sound waves disrupted the quiet street.
Bai Qing turned in surprise, following the sound source. He immediately saw Xiang Zhuo, dressed in black hair, black clothes, and black pants, leaning over the handlebars, speeding down the street against the wind. His sharp, cold black eyes focused ahead. Just as he was about to reach Jin Lu, he slammed the brakes and drifted, one long leg stepping down first to prop up the stylish but heavy machine. He took off his helmet, tucked it casually under his armpit, slicked back his hair, and smiled at Bai Qing, showing a row of white teeth: “Sorry to keep you waiting.”
Bai Qing: “…”
It had to be said that Xiang Zhuo’s physique was simply too superior.
Some passersby couldn’t help but turn their heads. Some Omegas blushed upon seeing Xiang Zhuo, struggling to suppress their surging pheromones, which nearly made them lose control of their rational minds to their biological instincts.
Xiang Zhuo was completely oblivious. He removed his black leather half-finger gloves, stepped his other long leg down, placing both feet on the ground. His high boots and black leggings further accentuated his tall, perfectly proportioned figure. The black T-shirt hugged his upper body. It was slightly small but not tight, subtly outlining his abdominal muscles. There were several deliberately cut holes near the neckline, coincidentally exposing the delicate collarbones underneath his strong physique. A silver skull necklace was the only bright spot on his entire body.
Bai Qing perfectly understood why Omegas would lose control upon seeing Xiang Zhuo; as an Alpha, Xiang Zhuo was indeed a superior specimen.
Bai Qing: “Your motorcycle is very nice.”
The PXT-006 was a high-performance machine designed and produced by the Bai family years ago. It was a beast of a machine, costly, and an exceptional motorcycle. However, because motorcycles only had two wheels and were far less stable, safe, and practical than hovercars, and because they caused many accidents due to speeding, the Imperial law prohibited their further production a long time ago. Coupled with supportive policies during that period, people gradually replaced their motorcycles with hovercars. After so much time, only the wealthy and influential still possessed a PXT-006.
Xiang Zhuo instantly blossomed with joy, feigning modesty: “It’s an antique, but this bike has amazing features. Want to take a ride on it later? I can drop you home.”
Bai Qing politely refused: “Thank you, but no need.”
Bai Qing turned and led Xiang Zhuo into Jin Lu.
Xiang Zhuo was slightly disappointed, but he quickly adjusted his mood and followed closely behind Bai Qing. He smelled the extremely faint sandalwood scent on Bai Qing and immediately brightened up again.
The table had been reserved by Bai Qing in advance. After they sat down, they began ordering. Xiang Zhuo appeared calm on the surface, but he was panicking internally. This wasn’t the first time he had eaten with Bai Qing, but it was their first date. He was cautious everywhere, so tense that he didn’t dare breathe, although he did order several specialty cocktails.
Bai Qing sat across from him and lightly raised his eyes: “If you drink alcohol, how will you get back?”
Xiang Zhuo felt hot all over under Bai Qing’s gaze. His mouth was dry, and his heart was pounding like a drum. He straightened his back in nervousness, secretly observing Bai Qing’s expression, and quickly flipped past the alcohol section: “Then I won’t drink—I remember their roasted lamb chop is the specialty. Should I order one for you too?”
His words didn’t leave any gaps. His tongue stumbled, and he realized he needed to answer Bai Qing’s question, so he continued on his own: “This isn’t far from my house. I’ll just run back; I can count it as physical training…”
Bai Qing softly replied, “Good.”
The attendant noted their orders one by one and brought over lemon water while they waited for the food. However, for some reason, the attendant placed both seasoning bottles on Bai Qing’s side.
Bai Qing reached out and offered a seasoning bottle to Xiang Zhuo.
Xiang Zhuo reacted abruptly, fearing that the seasoning bottle staying in Bai Qing’s hand for one second longer would tire him out. Unfortunately, the moment he reached out, his elbow accidentally knocked over the lemon water the attendant had just served.
Xiang Zhuo quickly pulled out his mental force with a cold expression, steadily supporting the spilled liquid. His ear tips were bright red, and his heart was in utter chaos as he took the seasoning bottle from Bai Qing.
Xiang Zhuo was annoyed. As the Eternal Empire’s humanoid weapon, an SSS-level Alpha, a combat elite who had been on battlefields and could detect even tiny changes in a mecha, he had just knocked over a glass!
In that instant, he was as clumsy as when he first tried to dismantle a mecha with his bare hands.
Xiang Zhuo was genuinely thirsty. He quickly grabbed a newly served specialty cocktail nearby and drank it in one gulp.
A burning, spicy heat slid down his throat. He looked at the cup in his hand only belatedly, realizing he hadn’t drunk lemon water at all—it was alcohol!!
It was too late for Bai Qing to stop him. He pursed his lips: “You should drink less alcohol.”
Xiang Zhuo awkwardly asked Bai Qing: “The specialty cocktails here are very good. Would you like one?”
Bai Qing: “Thank you, but no need.”
Xiang Zhuo didn’t have a good alcohol tolerance. After just one cup, he felt a little dizzy, but thankfully, he was still rational. It seemed he really couldn’t drink any more. The alcohol here was potent.
Seeing the atmosphere sink into dead silence, Bai Qing spoke to ease the tension: “You seem to know this place well. Do you come here often?”
Xiang Zhuo shook his head: “No. I’ve only been here once or twice with Jing Yu. Eating here with him is boring.”
Bai Qing looked around. The atmosphere here was elegant and quiet, mostly for conversations between two people or for couples dating. He nodded, not continuing the conversation.
Just then, the lamb chops arrived. Xiang Zhuo took the initiative, carefully and meticulously cutting the lamb chops into small pieces. He asked in a seemingly casual manner: “What about you? Have you been here with other Alphas?”
Bai Qing nodded: “I’ve been here a few times.” He had been here with Ye Sheng and Yun Ji. The three of them grew up together and were the best of friends, but Yun Ji had gone to Rentine Star, the Art Star, for his dreams and only returned about once a year.
“Screech—” The silver cutlery scraped a sharp, jarring sound across the plate. He looked down, the fierce pounding of his heart assaulting his eardrums. He looked at the last two pieces of meat on his plate, which looked like they had been run over by a starship. He cleared his throat, pushing the plate he held toward Bai Qing as if to hide his panic: “This plate is cut. You take this one.”
Bai Qing looked up, surprise in his eyes: “Thank you.”
Xiang Zhuo smiled, not taking the matter to heart, though he was nervous inside.
Xiang Zhuo was indeed very thoughtful, including volunteering to commentate for him during the mid-term assessment. Without Xiang Zhuo, the matter certainly wouldn’t have been resolved so smoothly.
Bai Qing: “I really have to thank you. For the mid-term assessment and for now.”
When Bai Qing spoke, he liked to look into a person’s eyes, making him seem very sincere. His lake-blue eyes had a power that went deep into one’s heart. Xiang Zhuo couldn’t resist. He blushed and averted his gaze: “It… it was nothing.”
The polished replies he had rehearsed multiple times were completely useless. Xiang Zhuo felt his heart pounding even more violently.
Much later, he would learn that this feeling was a flutter.
The two began to eat quietly. Bai Qing ate very slowly. Xiang Zhuo kept looking up at Bai Qing, blushing and lowering his head after each glance. Finally, he seemed to pluck up his courage: “Qingqing, I heard the academy intends to hold an outdoor training drill to improve physical fitness. It’s voluntary. Will you sign up?”
Bai Qing wiped his mouth: “Please don’t call me Qingqing anymore.” Only his family called him Qingqing. Being called that by Xiang Zhuo made him feel slightly uncomfortable.
Xiang Zhuo hesitated: “Then Xiao Qing?”
Bai Qing: “I’m not called Xiao Qing either.”
Xiang Zhuo: “Then what should I call you?”
Bai Qing thought seriously. His eyes suddenly lit up.
Xiang Zhuo had been observing Bai Qing the whole time. Upon noticing the light in Bai Qing’s eyes, his expression softened incredibly.
Bai Qing: “You can call me Classmate, or Friend. Of course, you can also call me Bai Qing.”
… The light in Xiang Zhuo’s eyes went out.
He grabbed another specialty cocktail next to him, mistook it for lemon water, and downed it.
