The Sickly Beauty Beta Got Pregnant After A Political Marriage - Chapter 10
Yin Youning had thought countless times in his heart about complaining to Shen Jiayu that this alpha’s possessiveness was truly terrifying, but as soon as he remembered the scene of Wen Xiuheng protecting Shen Jiayu like a guardian deity, he swallowed his words.
As today’s professional drawing class ended, the professor assigned homework as usual. Afterward, it was time for Shen Jiayu and Yin Youning to attend their elective course together.
At the mention of the elective, Yin Youning looked listless. He couldn’t help it, this was a baking class he hadn’t wanted to take. During the winter break, he had originally wanted to snag a spot in the Taekwondo elective, but he failed to get it. Out of options, he chose baking since there were still slots available. Fortunately, Shen Jiayu was willing to accompany him.
In the baking class, everyone learned to make cookies. Shen Jiayu did an excellent job and was even praised by the teacher. When the cookies first came out of the oven, they were still warm, crispy, and fragrant. The teacher had prepared thermal foil and insulated boxes for everyone so they could take their handmade cookies away.
With the elective over, the day’s classes were finished. Yin Youning asked Shen Jiayu what his plans were. Looking at the cookies he had made and thinking about how the school wasn’t far from Chengya Hospital, Shen Jiayu planned to have the driver take him there.
When Shen Jiayu asked Yin Youning about his plans, Yin Youning’s face turned a suspicious shade of red. With shifting eyes, he said he had other things to do and even asked for an extra set of cookie packaging along with Shen Jiayu.
Shen Jiayu packaged the cookies intended for his mother. On the way to the hospital, he couldn’t help but take out his phone to search for the location of the Wen Group headquarters. It wasn’t very far from Chengya Hospital. Shen Jiayu pursed his lips slightly.
When he arrived at the VIP ward, Shen’s father was still unconscious, but his overall complexion looked a bit better. Shen’s mother mentioned that the doctors came by every day to check on the situation and had adjusted the nursing plan. The doctors said there was more than a fifty percent chance he would wake up.
The mother and son chatted about recent events for a while. After bidding his mother goodbye, Shen Jiayu hesitated for a moment but decided to visit the Wen Group headquarters.
The headquarters building looked cold and imposing. Standing at the foot of the tower, Shen Jiayu watched the efficiently dressed white collar workers entering and exiting, hesitating over whether he should go in to find Mr. Wen.
Setting aside their legally binding relationship as partners, he owed his well-being to Mr. Wen during his last episode. Moreover, Mr. Wen had stayed by his side in the hospital all night and only returned to work after he was discharged. He really ought to thank him.
On the other hand, Shen Jiayu felt that Mr. Wen was likely busy and his visit might be a disturbance. Furthermore, he didn’t know if Mr. Wen would even like the cookies he made…
In his hesitation, Shen Jiayu decided to go to the front desk to ask.
As he walked into the first floor lobby, Shen Jiayu was wearing a water blue hooded sweatshirt and a light gray backpack. Because he naturally looked young, he currently appeared more like a student from a “youthful high school” drama, standing out exceptionally among the sea of office workers.
Clutching the cookies in his hands, Shen Jiayu walked to the front desk. A staff member with elegant and exquisite makeup greeted him with a polite smile.
“Hello, how can I help you?”
“Hello, is Mr. Wen Xiuheng here?”
Hearing her CEO’s name, the staff member paused for a moment before putting her smile back on. “Hello, seeing President Wen requires an appointment. Do you have one?”
Hearing the words “requires an appointment,” Shen Jiayu’s expression turned disappointed. “I’m sorry, I don’t have an appointment…”
“In that case…” The staff member gave an apologetic smile. “I’m afraid you can’t go in without one.”
Shen Jiayu’s fingers tightened around the cookie packaging. He lowered his eyes and nodded gently. “Okay, sorry to have troubled you.”
Seeing him like this, the staff member’s heart softened. He looked quite young, and his manner was so well-behaved and sensible. She couldn’t bear it, so she added, “May I ask for your name and the nature of your business with President Wen? Perhaps I can relay a message to his assistant.”
Hearing this, Shen Jiayu looked up and opened his mouth, hesitating. He didn’t know if he should say he just wanted to give Mr. Wen some cookies, or that Mr. Wen was actually his…
At that moment, near the office area exit by the front desk, Zhou Yi was nodding with a smile, briefly exchanging pleasantries after seeing off several regional managers who had come to the headquarters for reports.
Watching their retreating backs, Zhou Yi let out a long sigh. Just now, after the reporting, the boss hadn’t been very satisfied and had sternly and sharply pointed out several issues on the spot. Those regional managers were so nervous they were breaking out in a cold sweat. In terms of age, they were actually older than the boss, yet they didn’t even dare to breathe loudly in his presence.
It couldn’t be helped, their boss had always been strict and cold. Moreover, having worked by the boss’s side for so long, if he guessed correctly, the boss’s rut was likely approaching. There were bound to be some early signs recently. It was better for him to return and report back as soon as possible.
Just as Zhou Yi turned his head, he noticed a familiar figure. Unable to believe his eyes, Zhou Yi took two steps forward. Meeting those light rose-colored eyes, he immediately cried out in surprise, “Young Master Shen, why are you here?”
Zhou Yi led Shen Jiayu to the CEO’s private elevator.
Watching the numbers climbing on the elevator display, Shen Jiayu bit his lip nervously.
Zhou Yi spoke cautiously, “Young Master Shen, please don’t mind it. Tina just joined recently and doesn’t recognize you yet.”
Shen Jiayu shook his head quickly and said sincerely, “It’s okay, I’m the one who came without an appointment.”
He was only able to get in because he happened to run into Mr. Zhou Yi. During his days in the hospital, he had seen Zhou Yi come to help Mr. Wen handle work matters.
When Shen Jiayu said this, Zhou Yi didn’t dare to respond. He had seen exactly how the boss treated Young Master Shen. Last time at the school was the first time he had ever seen the habitually indifferent and distant boss standing by someone’s side like a guardian statue.
Based on that, Zhou Yi thought to himself that if Young Master Shen came to the company to see the boss, what need was there for an appointment?
With a “ding,” the elevator stopped at the top floor.
As Zhou Yi led Shen Jiayu through the corridor, it drew the attention of countless curious eyes, making Shen Jiayu feel a bit shy. Some were curious about who this young boy was, while others had already recognized him.
“My god, that looks like the boss’s partner!” “What?! The boss’s partner???!!!” “But he looks so young and small, he must still be in school?” “The boss’s partner is too beautiful!” “So cute!” “I heard that Young Master Shen is a beta, is that true?”
Zhou Yi led Shen Jiayu to the door of the central office and knocked.
A deep voice from inside said, “Come in.”
Zhou Yi then opened the door and brought Shen Jiayu inside. “Boss, Young Master Shen is here to see you.”
Those light rose-colored eyes immediately collided with a pair of silver-gray pupils.
The Alpha seemed to have been slightly displeased just now, his handsome brows were furrowed. He wasn’t wearing his suit jacket, and his shirt sleeves were rolled up to his forearms, revealing firm, smooth muscle lines and bulging veins. A black sleeve garter on his upper arm pressed against the powerful muscles through the shirt.
The moment he saw Shen Jiayu, a flash of surprise crossed Wen Xiuheng’s eyes, and the slight anger on his face vanished completely.
Wen Xiuheng stood up, walked forward, and stood face to face with the boy. The difference in height and build between the two was striking.
The Alpha asked in a low, warm voice, “Jiayu, what is it? Is something wrong?”
Shen Jiayu looked up somewhat awkwardly, holding the cookies out in front of him. He whispered softly, “Mr. Wen, I’m fine… I made cookies in my elective class and just wanted to bring some for you to try…”
The more Shen Jiayu spoke, the less confident he became. The last few words were almost too quiet to hear, and he nervously looked away after finishing. The moment he walked in, he felt a bit of regret. Mr. Wen must have been busy.
“I’m sorry… for bothering. ” Before the boy could finish his apology, a large hand gently brushed against his hair.
Shen Jiayu froze and looked up, only to see the Alpha’s lips curve into a faint, gentle smile. The Alpha’s deep, magnetic voice sounded by his ear: “Thank you.”
“Thank you for specifically bringing cookies to me.”
Hearing this response, Shen Jiayu finally relaxed. The boy’s rose-colored eyes curved slightly, and his lips arched into a bright, sweet smile that was so beautiful it was impossible to look away.
“It’s no trouble at all!”
Behind them, seeing this, Zhou Yi quietly retreated and closed the door. Once outside, Zhou Yi stood tall with his hands on his hips, feeling a sense of accomplishment.
See? Bringing Young Master Shen to see the boss at this time was definitely the right decision! What a pity that he was the only one to see the boss’s instant change of face. That smile, that head patting, probably only Young Master Shen could make the boss act like that.
Inside the office, Wen Xiuheng led Shen Jiayu to the sofa. Shen Jiayu opened the carefully wrapped packaging and looked at him with an expectant gaze.
Wen Xiuheng picked one up and ate it. The cookie was still warm, and a sweet, mellow milky fragrance spread through his mouth.
“The taste is very good,” Wen Xiuheng evaluated sincerely.
The smile on Shen Jiayu’s face brightened even more.
After they finished all the cookies together, Shen Jiayu felt he shouldn’t stay and continue bothering Mr. Wen, so he picked up his backpack to leave.
But Wen Xiuheng looked at him seriously and said it was no bother. He would be done with his work in about an hour. If Shen Jiayu was willing, he could stay for a while, and then they could go home together.
Shen Jiayu didn’t have anything urgent to do, so staying a bit longer was fine.
A moment later, a small figure appeared next to Wen Xiuheng’s seat.
Shen Jiayu sat in a comfortable chair, leaning against a backrest and cushion, with a small blanket over his legs. By his hand were various snacks and hot drinks to pass the time. For a moment, he felt a bit dazed.
All of this had been prepared for him by Mr. Wen. He felt less like he was waiting for Mr. Wen to get off work and more like he had come here to play…
After spacing out for a while and watching the nearby Wen Xiuheng resume his work, Shen Jiayu took out his drawing tablet and stylus from his backpack and began to brainstorm for his homework.
Shen Jiayu sat there, small and obedient, beside the tall Alpha. The atmosphere between them was quiet but not awkward. The sound of Wen Xiuheng flipping through files and the “shasha” sound of Shen Jiayu’s stylus sketching lines intertwined in an unexpectedly harmonious way.
Shen Jiayu was fully focused on sketching lines on the paper, occasionally stopping to stare at it in thought. After some time passed, the Alpha’s deep, magnetic voice spoke in his ear.
“Jiayu.”
“Hmm?” Shen Jiayu hadn’t fully pulled away from his drawing yet and responded subconsciously, his rising tone soft and sweet.
As Shen Jiayu turned his head to look at the Alpha, a large palm pressed against his forehead. He froze instantly, looking up at the other man.
The Alpha had moved beside him at some point and was now looking down into his eyes.
“Checking to see if you have a fever,” the Alpha whispered hoarsely.
Shen Jiayu blinked and nodded gently. So Mr. Wen was still concerned about his physical condition. Perhaps his staring at the drawing earlier made Mr. Wen think he was feeling unwell.
After confirming there was no fever, Wen Xiuheng slowly withdrew his palm from Shen Jiayu’s forehead. As he did, he naturally helped tuck a stray lock of hair behind the boy’s ear.
The Alpha whispered, “What are you drawing?”
Shen Jiayu snapped out of it and answered, “Practicing the landscape assignment from class. The teacher told us to choose a landscape we want to draw.”
The Alpha’s gaze fell on the paper, which featured a sketch of a coastline. Wen Xiuheng thought of the nearby Aishe Sea.
“Do you want to draw the Aishe Sea?”
Shen Jiayu’s lips curved slightly. “Yes, I want to draw the ‘blue hour’ there.”
Wen Xiuheng understood, the blue hour was the period before sunrise when the sky is dyed blue.
The Alpha continued, “Have you seen the Aishe Sea before sunrise?”
Shen Jiayu gave a nostalgic, slightly regretful smile. “I went there with my family when I was little, but we had already missed the time when we arrived.”
Wen Xiuheng watched Shen Jiayu’s profile. “Do you want to go again?”
“Yes, I do!” Shen Jiayu nodded without hesitation, but his expression soon turned disappointed. The journey to the Aishe Sea was quite far, if he left on the day, he wouldn’t make it before sunrise. And Shen Jiayu knew it had only been a week since he was discharged, everyone probably wouldn’t feel comfortable with him going.
Thinking of this, Shen Jiayu slowly lowered his eyes. Maybe he would go when there was a chance in the future.
All these subtle expressions were caught by Wen Xiuheng. He remembered that the little one’s birthday was also coming up soon.
When they left the office, Wen Xiuheng deliberately walked on Shen Jiayu’s right side, blocking most of the onlookers’ views. The Alpha’s arm was positioned behind Shen Jiayu in a protective stance.
As they passed, the employees were silent, busy with their work, appearing completely “absorbed in work even at quitting time.”
After they left, the entire floor erupted in heated screams, and the private chat groups exploded.
“Ahhh, the CEO truly loves him!” “Their faces are such a good match!” “The height difference is so cute!” “Did you see? He wouldn’t even let us look at him for a second longer!”
On Friday, Shen Jiayu only had morning classes. After finishing, he was let out early as usual.
Walking out of the school gates, he saw the driver waiting by the road as always. Shen Jiayu opened the car door, only to see an unexpected figure. Wen Xiuheng was actually sitting in the back.
“Mr. Wen, why are you here?” Shen Jiayu’s voice was full of surprise.
Wen Xiuheng said softly, “Get in.”
Shen Jiayu obediently sat inside, his small face filled with confusion and wonder.
Wen Xiuheng reached out to pat the top of his head and said warmly, “We’re going to the Aishe Sea.”
