- Chapter 24 - No One Allowed to Covet You
Tears instantly welled up in the corners of Jiang Ningxun’s eyes.
The scents of orange and green lime pheromones filled the room. His brain felt as though it were submerged in cool water; Jiang Ningxun could no longer think clearly. An instinctive impulse surged through Song Shidu’s mind like a crashing tide. His heart raced, each beat accompanied by a fierce desire to possess Jiang Ningxun.
In that moment, Song Shidu felt an unprecedented sense of satisfaction and belonging, as if he had finally found the missing piece of his life’s puzzle. The orange fragrance emanating from Jiang Ningxun filled his senses, etching itself into the depths of his soul and becoming an inseparable part of his being.
For Jiang Ningxun, the sensation was replaced by an indescribable warmth and security. It felt as though he finally had someone to lean on, a place to belong, establishing a profound connection with the Alpha who had marked him, a bond that transcended words.
Time passed second by second. Song Shidu finally let go. His once clear eyes were now clouded with emotion, leaving only an endless attachment to the person before him. His lips gently brushed against the wound. The person in his arms had gone still; only the scent of green lime pheromones lingering on his neck, his own unique scent, proclaimed that Jiang Ningxun now belonged to him.
No one was allowed to covet him.
“You bastard,” Jiang Ningxun muttered.
Song Shidu was startled to hear the sob in his voice and quickly turned him over. “Does it hurt very much?”
Jiang Ningxun’s eyes were red. His beautiful, magnificent eyes gazed at him accusingly. His bright red, moist lips bore clear teeth marks, obviously bitten because of the pain just now.
Seeing this, Song Shidu felt an immediate wave of heartache. He wiped the tears from the corner of Jiang Ningxun’s eye and began to coax him. “Alright, alright. I am a bastard. I should not have gone too far.”
Jiang Ningxun originally did not want to let him off so easily, but the exhaustion following the marking hit him hard. His eyelids felt heavy, and before he could say another word, he collapsed into Song Shidu’s arms.
“Baby? Ningxun?”
“Zzz.”
Seeing that he was asleep, Song Shidu felt relieved. He held him with a sense of fulfillment and turned off the light. The room fell into darkness as the two slept in each other’s arms.
Three days passed quickly. Song Shidu stayed by Jiang Ningxun’s side every day, never parting for a moment. They experienced the local culture of B-City, enjoyed the food, went shopping, and watched movies together, acting as if they were simply there on vacation.
Technically, the project no longer had anything to do with Song Shidu, and they could have left. However, Song Shidu said with a smile, “I am still waiting for a good show. I cannot leave yet.”
It had been discovered that the woman, Xiao Mei, had framed him. The police were questioning her reasons for doing so. While she refused to name her accomplice, she admitted that nothing had actually happened between her and Song Shidu.
That night, she had slipped into the room. Before meeting Song Shidu, she had disliked the idea of framing someone by selling her body, but after seeing him, she changed her mind. The wolf type Alpha was handsome, had a great physique, a strong aura, and seemed wealthy; she felt she would not lose out even if something actually happened.
She had planned to turn the fake act into reality. However, Song Shidu was in a very deep sleep. Even when he caught the scent of a strange Omega’s pheromones, he showed no interest. Instead, he had tucked his nose into the blanket with disgust. No matter what tricks Xiao Mei tried, she could not wake him.
He had even muttered a name in his sleep: “Jiang Ning Xun, you are not allowed to like him. You can only like me.”
In that moment, Xiao Mei realized he already had someone he loved. She stopped her attempts and used other methods to bruise her own skin, faking a scene of lost innocence. It was clear she was being coerced by someone, and the identity of that person would soon be revealed.
That evening, in the dark room, Jiang Ningxun lay on the bed playing idly with his phone, occasionally switching to WeChat to chat with his colleagues. The group chat was exploding.
Company Group Chat:
Employee 1: “Oh my god, I am so frustrated! I was rejected by the Qing Zhe Studio. Did any of you make the cut?”
Employee 2: “No, I did not even get to see Qing Zhe. The manager rejected me immediately.”
Employee 3: “If you ask me, stop pinning your hopes on that. Who is Qing Zhe? There is no way it would be our turn to do his styling. We would be better off spending time looking for other jobs.”
Employee 4: “Do you guys not know? Qing Zhe is injured! Apparently, he has a broken arm and needs a long time to recover. It looks like his career will be on hold for a while.”
Jiang Ningxun froze. Qing Zhe is injured? He subconsciously glanced at the person beside him. Song Shidu was sleeping, his arm wrapped around Jiang Ningxun’s waist, looking as though he would not wake up. Jiang Ningxun secretly pulled out his earphones, put them on, and went to a social media video platform to investigate.
Searching for “Qing Zhe” automatically brought up several trending topics about his injury. Jiang Ningxun glanced at the person beside him again like a thief. Good, he is not awake. Hurry up and look!
He clicked on a video showing Qing Zhe with his right arm in a cast, looking seriously injured. He was coming out of the hospital surrounded by bodyguards, never once looking toward the camera. This single video quickly spread across the internet. Netizens were speculating about how the injury happened. Was it a fall? If it was a fall, why was there no official statement? Qing Zhe should be busy with his career right now filming on set; could he have been injured during filming?
But no staff members had released a statement! The studio’s silence left everyone confused. Usually, in this industry, people would announce their injuries to gain sympathy points, and Qing Zhe’s studio had done so in the past. This was the only time that, if not for the candid shots of him leaving the hospital, no one would have known he was injured.
Is there some hidden story? Jiang Ningxun’s eyes flickered, his mind a bit cluttered. He wanted to check Qing Zhe’s Weibo. Suddenly, his right earphone was plucked away and placed into someone else’s ear.
“What are you watching?”
Jiang Ningxun’s hair practically stood on end. He turned his head stiffly to find that Song Shidu had woken up at some point. Wearing the left earphone, Song Shidu’s dark eyes glanced at the screen before slowly moving to meet Jiang Ningxun’s eyes. He said with a smile, “Ah, he is injured.”
Jiang Ningxun felt like he had been caught red handed. He hurriedly explained, “I saw the trending video. I was afraid of disturbing you, so I wore earphones.”
“Mm, then let us watch together.”
Song Shidu’s firm, muscular arm gently pulled Jiang Ningxun by the shoulder. He even thoughtfully pulled the blanket over him, and they watched the short videos together, head to head. The atmosphere was quiet and cozy. Jiang Ningxun watched him out of the corner of his eye, only to find that Song Shidu was watching the video even more intently than he was, a faint, lingering smile on his lips. The colorful lights from the screen reflected in his eyes, masking the sense of schadenfreude.
Song Shidu: “Mm, the injury looks quite serious.”
Jiang Ningxun: “I just do not know the reason for it.”
“Then let us stop looking at him, shall we?” Song Shidu’s finger quietly swiped to the next video.
It was a video of a cat from a pet blogger. The kitten was lying softly in its bed, quiet and well behaved, its little paws unconsciously kneading in its sleep. It was very cute.
Song Shidu turned his head and smiled. “I want to raise a cat. What about you?”
Jiang Ningxun shook his head. “I will be going back to work soon. There will be no one at home to take care of it; that would be irresponsible.”
“Alright. I suppose my money will have to be used to raise a greedy little fox instead.” Song Shidu rubbed his head affectionately.
