After the door closed, Jiang Ningxun’s tail drooped instantly. He stood pitifully in place like a puppy abandoned by its owner, staring at the door.

The rims of his eyes grew red, and tears seemed ready to fall at any moment. He reached out to wipe his eyes, trying to make himself look less fragile, but it did little to help. His fingers interlaced tightly, his knuckles turning white from the force, as if this physical tension could make him feel better.

“I have already tried so hard,” he whispered to himself, his voice filled with grievance and frustration.

He had fantasized countless times about his two fathers living together in harmony. But reality was always cruel. Every time he saw them argue or fall into a cold war, his heart felt as though it were being cut by a knife. Each effort ended in failure, leaving him feeling utterly lost and helpless.

Perhaps it really was impossible for them to love each other. And yet, he did not want either of them to leave.

Just then, a warm arm wrapped around him. The person behind him pulled him into a firm embrace. A hot, powerful heartbeat pulsed against his back, seemingly numbing his limbs and dispelling the loneliness and unease in his heart. That arm was like a warm harbor, giving him a sense of endless security and comfort.

“Do not be afraid. No matter how they choose to live their lives in the future, you will always be their child.”

“Mhm.” Jiang Ningxun nodded heavily and turned to hug Song Shidu back.

After they embraced for a while, Song Shidu suddenly lifted him up by the waist. Startled, Jiang Ningxun cried out, “Hey! What are you doing!”

“Sleeping.”

“But the doctor said that for now, I should try not to”

Song Shidu let out a soft laugh and patted his back. “What are you thinking? I am not that impulsive.”

Back in the bedroom, Song Shidu placed Jiang Ningxun on the bed and turned off the lights. In the dim environment, the atmosphere between them grew ambiguous even without them doing anything. Lying on the bed, Jiang Ningxun saw Song Shidu’s movements as he took off his clothes in the dark. He grew nervous. “Really, we cannot.”

Song Shidu did not speak. Instead, he grabbed something from nearby and tucked it into Jiang Ningxun’s arms. It was the wolf plushie, soft and cuddly.

A moment later, Song Shidu got into bed and embraced both the plushie and Jiang Ningxun. His voice was husky as he said, “With the plushie between us, I really will not do anything to you.”

Jiang Ningxun’s heart warmed. He proactively moved closer, extending his fox tail to entwine with Song Shidu’s wolf tail, and slowly drifted off to sleep. However, in the middle of the night, it seemed Song Shidu went to the bathroom to take a shower before returning.

One month passed in the blink of an eye. The Omega characteristics on Jiang Ningxun’s body became increasingly obvious. For instance, his pheromones would occasionally leak out uncontrollably. Having just differentiated from a Beta into an Omega, he was clearly not used to the existence of pheromones and sometimes did not even realize he was emitting them.

Every time he passed by Song Shidu carrying that fragrance, Song Shidu’s face would instantly turn red. Jiang Ningxun went to get a drink from the fridge. Turning around, he saw Song Shidu staring blankly at him. He shook the cola in confusion. “Do you want a drink?”

Song Shidu pressed his lips thin. His eyes were dark and dazed, yet he reminded him like a true gentleman, “Your pheromones are drifting through the entire house.”

Jiang Ningxun jumped, his ears standing straight up. He hurried to sniff himself. “No, there is nothing. Does it affect you?”

Song Shidu’s dry throat bobbed as he swallowed. His voice was raspy. “An Omega revealing pheromones to an Alpha represents an invitation for intimacy. I am fine; it has no effect.”

Jiang Ningxun tried his best to hold the pheromones back. “Is there any left?”

Song Shidu took a few steps forward, trapping him against the wall. He lowered his head and sniffed at the gland on Jiang Ningxun’s neck. After a long moment, he murmured, “Ah, there is still some.”

“What does it smell like?” As a fox, Jiang Ningxun did not realize how dangerous his situation was. He looped his arms around Song Shidu’s neck, continuously teasing him.

“Oranges.”

Jiang Ningxun was surprised. The pheromones he could not smell himself actually scented of oranges. Refusing to give up, he pulled at Song Shidu’s neck to try and catch a scent, but he could smell nothing. He found it strange. “I cannot smell yours.”

Song Shidu replied, “I have very good control.”

“Then release it once. Let me smell.”

Song Shidu’s gaze drifted, and he gave a light cough. “No. If I do that, something will happen.”

“Just once!”

“Fine.”

A scent of lemon pheromones filled the air, carrying a hint of tartness and sweetness. It was like the refreshing scent released by a lemon that had not yet fully ripened, adding a unique charm to the freshness. Jiang Ningxun’s brain stalled the moment he smelled it. He smiled. “Ah, it is lemon. It matches my orange so well. Do not stop! Let me smell more!”

He seemed to become addicted, pulling hard on Song Shidu’s neck to sniff him closely. He loved the scent, and his tail began to wag unconsciously. He was like a cat that had found catnip.

Song Shidu’s nose was also filled with the Omega’s pheromones. Smelling his lover’s scent at such a close distance made his thread of rationality nearly snap. But he was also addicted. He restrained himself from being impulsive and simply held Jiang Ningxun tightly.

Their pheromones intertwined like two burning flames, constantly clashing and rubbing together as the temperature steadily rose. Before long, a flush appeared on both their cheeks, looking like ripe apples. Their eyes were misty and dazed as they looked at each other. If either side took one more proactive step, the spark would ignite completely.

Jiang Ningxun was the first to turn his head away, avoiding the burning gaze. “Wait a little longer. Wait until my transformation is finished.”

“Mhm,” Song Shidu responded muffledly, rubbing his head against Jiang Ningxun’s neck.

Jiang Ningxun felt itchy from the stray hairs. On a whim, he leaned in and bit down on Song Shidu’s wolf ear. Instantly, Song Shidu’s entire body went stiff. He wanted to pull away, but Jiang Ningxun’s sharp teeth held firm. Forced by the situation, he could only bend down and let him continue gnawing.

“This is not food.”

“What is wrong with me taking a bite?” Jiang Ningxun mumbled while chewing.

Song Shidu’s ears were so sensitive they trembled. He sighed helplessly. “You are taking a million bites.”

Jiang Ningxun laughed. “Wolf ears smell good. I want to give you an earring.”

Hearing this, Song Shidu looked at him sideways. “Would it look bad?”

“How could it! You look good no matter what.” Jiang Ningxun finally released the mistreated, floppy wolf ear. He excitedly pulled Song Shidu along to get his ear pierced.

About a month later, once the ear was ready for jewelry, Song Shidu sat calmly in a chair and let Jiang Ningxun fiddle with his ear. When Jiang Ningxun finished, he nodded with satisfaction and took another eighteen photos with his phone. The design of the earring was unique; it was a small silver skull that shimmered with a mysterious and charming light. It suited Song Shidu perfectly, adding a bit of a tough guy aura to his appearance.

Jiang Ningxun looked at the photos, becoming more satisfied the more he looked. “You really are suited to be a model.”

After a moment, Song Shidu checked the time and stood up, speaking helplessly, “I have to go on a business trip. Do not be afraid these next few days. Do not open the door for anyone, do not go out, and do not touch dangerous tools. Call me immediately if anything happens, okay?”

“Oh.” Jiang Ningxun was unhappy.

Seeing this, Song Shidu found he could not take a step out the door. He turned back around and hugged Jiang Ningxun to comfort him. “It is not safe for an Omega to be out alone right now. Besides, I heard there is a serial killer case in the neighboring city. I am afraid something will happen to you.”

“I know.” Jiang Ningxun added, “You too. Do not overwork yourself while you are away.”

Song Shidu kissed his eyelid and then his lips. He ended up getting addicted and delayed pulling away. He was only going away for a few days, yet he was being this clingy. Clingy wolf.

It took quite a while before Song Shidu was satisfied. He glanced at the time. “Oh no, I am late.”

After saying that, he hurried downstairs, turning back once more to tell Jiang Ningxun to stay safe. Jiang Ningxun stood in the hallway and laughed. “I know!”
