The Seductive Succubus Always Abandons After Playing (Quick Transmigration) - Chapter 22
“Baby, I can’t quite hide the marks on my neck.”
In the dressing room mirror, a slim-fit black suit traced the young man’s refined waist. Su Yi had ivory foundation on his hand and was preparing to apply it to his neck. Visible blue bruises, more than one, stood out against his fair skin.
As he spoke, Pei Yingjue walked in. He wore a suit similar to Su Yi’s, and his presence immediately made the room feel smaller. He approached Su Yi, his reflection growing in the mirror until he almost completely shielded Su Yi’s figure.
“Let me help you.”
Pei Yingjue squeezed two pumps of foundation onto his fingertips. Su Yi tilted his head, and Pei Yingjue raised his hand, his long fingers moving in slow circles over the bruises. Su Yi looked into the mirror, noting the serious expression in Pei Yingjue’s deep eyes.
Suddenly, Su Yi let out a small laugh. He reached out to catch the fingers that were about to touch his neck again, leaning back slightly to look at Pei Yingjue.
“Are you really helping me?” Su Yi gripped the damp fingers. Pei Yingjue stopped obediently and looked at Su Yi. “Am I not?”
Su Yi didn’t answer. Their gazes locked, and suddenly Pei Yingjue leaned down. Su Yi curled his lips, and they kissed. The two had become quite clingy lately; whenever they made eye contact, a kiss was inevitable.
Of course, the intensity depended on the location. At home, it went beyond just kissing. In public, they remained somewhat reserved, breaking apart after a few minutes. Fortunately, it was not too intense this time and did not delay them much.
By the time they finished tidying up and walked backstage, the principal was delivering a passionate speech, his tone full of fervor.
“In my long career in education, I have learned that the most moving sight is not always being number one, but rather your sincere hearts that never stop striving.”
Su Yi and Pei Yingjue waited backstage. Amidst the deafeningly grand rhetoric, Su Yi suddenly laughed out loud. Pei Yingjue turned his head, looking puzzled. “What is it?”
“Nothing. I just remembered the principal was just as excited the day we first met,” Su Yi coughed lightly.
The backstage area was empty. Pei Yingjue took Su Yi’s hand. “I did not hear it that time.”
“Of course,” Su Yi naturally intertwined their fingers. “If you had gone to listen, we might never have met.”
Looking back, the events from a few months ago were still vivid and clear. Pei Yingjue could still recall Su Yi’s bold actions in that old equipment room.
“The old equipment room was torn down last week,” Pei Yingjue said.
Su Yi gently shook his hand. Pei Yingjue looked down at their tightly clasped hands and understood Su Yi’s meaning. The past was long gone. Their hands were now locked together, and their hearts were close. That was enough. Pei Yingjue could not help but curl his lips, holding Su Yi’s hand even tighter.
“In this fierce competition, some have stood out, not only creating a new history for Moristi Academy but also breaking the league’s previous records. I’m sure you have all heard the names of these two students. Now, let them come forward to receive the fruits of their labor!”
Following the principal’s high-pitched tone, the curtain was drawn back with a sharp sound. The piercing spotlight hit them, and Su Yi pulled his hand away. Amidst thunderous applause, the two, dressed in matching suits, walked into the center of the stage’s focus.
“First, let us hear from our lead player, Student Su.”
The principal handed the microphone to Su Yi. Su Yi raised an eyebrow slightly, then smiled and nodded as he took it.
“Thank you all for your attention and recognition. Standing here today and achieving this is inseparable from every member of our team and those who supported us.”
Pei Yingjue stood a step away, quietly watching Su Yi’s straight back and listening to him speak eloquently. Su Yi seemed like a natural speaker. He had no notes and had not discussed the speech with Pei Yingjue beforehand. Yet, the moment he took the microphone, Su Yi seemed to transform. He was composed, his expressions were perfect, and he smiled from time to time. He was born to stand under the spotlight, a focus of admiration.
“However, there is one thing I think can only be discovered by participating in the competition. My partner gave countless hours to this effort. I cannot shamelessly accept the title of lead player mentioned by the principal. I believe he is the key to why we achieved such results.”
As the topic shifted, Pei Yingjue saw Su Yi turn slowly. With a signature smile that outshone the stars, the warm microphone was suddenly pressed into his hand. Su Yi pushed his shoulder, nudging him to the front. Pei Yingjue stared at him, watching his lips move.
“Over to you, boyfriend.”
Seeing this, the principal quickly smoothed things over. “In that case, Student Pei, please share the details with us.”
Applause thundered again. Pei Yingjue gripped the microphone, the warmth transferring to his palm. He felt his heartbeat was louder than the clapping. Pei Yingjue took a deep breath. The moment the applause died down, he looked up, his sharp, aloof eyes scanning the crowd. He held the microphone tightly, feeling the lingering warmth fade. When the hall fell silent, Pei Yingjue spoke.
“Thank you, everyone. Regarding the term lead player, I believe Su Yi and I put in an equal amount of effort. As for who is primary or secondary, there is no need for such a clear distinction between us. Winning first place was expected. In the future, we will create new achievements. Thank you.”
As the final words fell with conviction, the applause broke out spontaneously this time. Pei Yingjue slowly let out a breath. He turned and, as expected, met Su Yi’s gaze, which seemed as if it had never left him.
After the speeches, Pei Yingjue and Su Yi stood on stage. Under the gaze of the Alliance representatives and the principal, they bowed together. As the heavy gold medals, differing only by name, weighed down on their necks, Pei Yingjue looked at Su Yi out of the corner of his eye. The flashbulbs went off repeatedly.
Within half an hour, this photo would spread across the Empire. The moment he and Su Yi stood side by side, receiving their awards together, would remain on the league’s page forever. They would never be separated.
After the main event of the awards ceremony, the graduation ceremony continued. With parents attending and the division between Area A and Area B, it turned into a networking event for the upper class. People they knew and strangers alike came forward to congratulate, recruit, and flatter them. Glasses clinked repeatedly, and both Pei Yingjue and Su Yi drank a fair amount.
When they finally finished dealing with the strangers, the parents’ networking was also nearing an end. Su Yi put down his glass and took Pei Yingjue’s hand.
“I am going to go greet my parents. Come with me.”
Su Yi turned his body, using it as a shield to hook his fingers with Pei Yingjue’s. Fearing Pei Yingjue might refuse, Su Yi boldly slid his fingers between Pei Yingjue’s, his thumb lightly stroking his palm. Sure enough, Pei Yingjue caught his hand. Su Yi looked up, his vision slightly blurred by the alcohol, making it hard to read the emotions in those dark eyes.
“Let us go.”
Su Yi froze for a moment. He blinked, looking at Pei Yingjue in disbelief. Had he agreed that quickly? Suddenly, his palm was tickled, and the sensation made Su Yi shrink back. Pei Yingjue laughed softly at the sight. “I promised you before. Did you forget?”
“How could I forget? I only asked again because I was afraid you would suddenly change your mind.” Su Yi reacted immediately, pulling his hand back so that the backs of their hands touched.
“I will not.”
Su Yi looked up, meeting Pei Yingjue’s serious gaze. “I will not break a promise I made to you.”
“Is that so?” Su Yi laughed softly, taking Pei Yingjue’s arm. “Then let us go.”
The parent area and student area had different vibes. By the time Su Yi and Pei Yingjue arrived, the elder Su parents had not finished their socializing. Though he could not hear what was being said, their faces were flushed; they seemed to be in a good mood. Su Yi stood at a distance, thinking. If he took Pei Yingjue over now, it should leave a good impression. Afterward, he would continue his plan to obtain the key evidence that Pei Yingjue was the real Su family child.
Finally, the last person left with their glass. Su Yi immediately put on a smile and led Pei Yingjue over.
“Dad, Mom.”
Su Wenzhang and Wu Qingmei looked up. Their gazes faltered when they saw the two of them. Their expressions shifted slightly, and they did not speak immediately, making the atmosphere awkward. Eventually, Wu Qingmei cleared her throat. “Xiao Yi, once you enter the Alliance, listen to your brother more. You two brothers should help each other.”
Su Yi looked at Su Wenzhang. The man still maintained his stern, unapproachable look but said nothing, clearly agreeing with Wu Qingmei. It was rare. In over ten years, they had hardly ever said a kind word to him. To hear something human today was worth celebrating. It was just a pity. The one helping Su Yi would not be him.
“Yes, I understand.” Su Yi turned slightly, pulling Pei Yingjue in front of them. “This is Pei Yingjue. You must have heard him during the speeches.”
As soon as he spoke, Su Yi saw Wu Qingmei’s expression twitch.
“Hello, Uncle and Auntie,” Pei Yingjue said politely.
Wu Qingmei nodded with a subtle look, not saying a word. Su Yi keenly sensed something was wrong. At that moment, Su Wenzhang spoke up. “Su Yi, come here for a moment.”
The interruption was sudden and disregarded Pei Yingjue’s presence. Su Yi frowned slightly but said nothing, following Su Wenzhang to a corner. Once away from the crowd, Su Wenzhang said sharply, “What are you doing with that scholarship student! This is a critical time for you and the Xu family. Are you not afraid of being seen being so intimate with another Alpha?”
Su Yi reacted immediately. “Dad, what do you mean? I do not quite understand.”
Su Wenzhang glared at him. “Your brother told me about you and that scholarship student treating each other. Break it off immediately. Do not let the Xu family find out!”
Su Yi’s expression cooled. “My brother told you?”
“Yes! If your brother had not told me, I would not have known you were so bold!” Su Wenzhang sneered. “Luckily, he has no background. Once you are in the Alliance, let your brother handle it, and this scandal will be as if it never happened. You will marry into the Xu family and help your brother in the Alliance!”
Su Yi finally understood. Su Yi had calculated everything. By revealing that he and Pei Yingjue were treating each other, whether Pei Yingjue’s true identity was recognized or not, they would be separated. The only difference was whether Pei Yingjue would be handled or Su Yi would. Any rational person would choose self-preservation.
“Did you hear me?” Su Wenzhang pressed when Su Yi remained silent.
Su Yi looked up and smiled. “Yes, I understand.”
Satisfied with the answer, Su Wenzhang’s expression softened. “We have never mistreated you all these years. It is time you paid the family back.”
“Yes.” Su Yi agreed to everything. Seeing him so cooperative, Su Wenzhang stopped scolding him. As he prepared to head back, Su Yi spoke.
“However, we must keep up appearances. I have already brought him over, and with so many people watching, I will need you and Mom to let us finish our toast.”
The request was flawless. Although Su Wenzhang did not want to deal with Pei Yingjue, he grunted in agreement. Wu Qingmei had a better temperament than Su Wenzhang. While Su Yi was away, she and Pei Yingjue had been making small talk. The topics were meaningless. When they saw the others return, they stopped talking at the same time.
Su Yi stood back by Pei Yingjue’s side, his expression normal as he leaned against the table and picked up a glass. As the four glasses were about to clink, Pei Yingjue caught something out of the corner of his eye. He noticed a thread on Su Yi’s pure black suit. Looking closer, he saw a tassel from the tablecloth caught on Su Yi’s cuff. The thread was short. If Su Yi raised his hand, it would definitely snag.
Pei Yingjue reacted instantly. “Su Yi!”
But he was a step too late. Su Yi’s hand was caught, and the momentum caused the glass to tilt forward. The wine spilled uncontrollably onto Wu Qingmei’s shawl. She let out a small gasp of shock. For a split second, a look of pure disgust flashed across Wu Qingmei’s face, which Pei Yingjue happened to see.
“I am sorry, Mom. It was my fault.” Su Yi quickly pulled out some tissues and handed them to her. Wu Qingmei took them and wiped herself, but no matter how she wiped, a wine stain remained on the white shawl. Wu Qingmei’s face darkened instantly. The shawl was ruined.
“There is a temporary dressing room in the right wing,” Pei Yingjue said.
Su Yi snapped out of it and looked at Wu Qingmei. “Mom, let me take you there.” At this point, no matter how reluctant she was, Wu Qingmei could only nod. The two left together, leaving Pei Yingjue and Su Wenzhang alone. Su Wenzhang did not like the look of Pei Yingjue and would not speak to him.
Pei Yingjue, however, ignored Su Wenzhang entirely. Since Su Yi left, he had been staring toward the right wing. He kept replaying Wu Qingmei’s fleeting look of disgust. Finally, he turned. “Excuse me, I must go.”
Without waiting for a reaction from Su Wenzhang, he hurried toward the right wing. Just as he reached the door, he ran into Wu Qingmei. She looked unhappy, and Su Yi was not with her. Alarm bells went off in Pei Yingjue’s mind. Without a word, he brushed past her into the right wing.
Fortunately, it was empty. He soon saw Su Yi standing by the door, head down, looking at his phone while holding the shawl. He seemed fine, but on closer inspection, he was not even looking at the screen. Pei Yingjue frowned slightly and walked over.
[Hai Tingyan: The person is arranged.]
“Is this really okay?” 777 asked.
Su Yi turned off his phone. “What is the probability of the ending now?”
[Happy Ending: 55 percent, Bad Ending: 45 percent]
They were almost equal. Su Yi’s brow furrowed. As he was thinking, a pair of hands entered his vision. The next moment, a warm palm was pressed against his cheek. Su Yi looked up to meet Pei Yingjue’s concerned gaze.
“Is your aunt gone?” Pei Yingjue asked softly.
“Yes,” Su Yi replied, putting his phone away. “It is my fault. I should have been more careful.”
Pei Yingjue leaned down and kissed the corner of his lips gently. “It is not your fault. It was just a coincidence and did not cause any real damage.”
Hearing Su Yi’s dejected tone, Pei Yingjue’s heart constricted. He could not help but think of the way the Su parents looked at him. They were hardly qualified parents.
“It is okay, Su Yi.” Pei Yingjue stroked his face, his voice softening. “There will be other chances, right?”
Su Yi looked at him, paused for a moment, then stood up straight. His expression softened. “Yes.”
“What about this garment?” Pei Yingjue looked at the shawl.
Su Yi adjusted his arm. “She said to throw it away.”
“It is probably for the best,” Pei Yingjue nodded. “Shall we pick out a new one to send to her another day?”
“Okay.”
Seeing that he was not in high spirits, Pei Yingjue let Su Yi lean on him for a while. As they were sharing a quiet moment, hurried footsteps approached. Pei Yingjue’s hand lightened, and when he looked up, Su Yi had already masked his emotions to face a classmate who had come running.
“Su Yi, the news department needs you for an individual interview about the coverage.”
Su Yi nodded, handed the shawl to Pei Yingjue, and gave it a light pat. “Wait for me.”
“Okay.”
Pei Yingjue did not look away until Su Yi’s figure was out of sight. He then looked down at the shawl. It is just a shawl. Is it worth showing such obvious disgust to your own child over this? Pei Yingjue frowned, disapproving. The most important thing was that Su Yi cared. Pei Yingjue stood there, brow furrowed.
Meanwhile, Su Yi followed his classmate out of the right wing. Instead of going to the main hall, they went to the second floor. The classmate left once they reached the monitor room. Su Yi knocked. The door opened quickly. Before anyone could ask, Su Yi showed his Council badge. “I need to check some surveillance footage.”
The staff did not have time to question him. Seeing the badge, they immediately opened the door. “Which room do you want to see?”
Su Yi waved them off. “No need. You can leave. I will watch it myself.”
Faced with the Council badge, the staff had no choice but to leave. Once they were gone, Su Yi locked the door. He quickly went to the screen, scanning the images until he stopped at the hallway of the right wing’s dressing room. In the video, Pei Yingjue was holding the shawl, standing in the hallway.
“Are you sure this will help Pei Yingjue get the key evidence?”
Su Yi pursed his lips as he operated the screen. “Of course. I specifically arranged the shawl and placed Wu Qingmei’s hair in the most obvious spot. If Pei Yingjue wants to be recognized by the Su family or verify his identity, this is ready-made evidence.”
After bringing up the specific area, Su Yi slid the progress bar.
“What if he already got it?”
“Impossible,” Su Yi countered. “He rarely meets Wu Qingmei and Su Wenzhang. Only at my birthday and today. On my birthday, they only showed up briefly. He could not have gotten evidence then. As for his brother? That is even more impossible.”
Su Yi (the older brother) would never have contact with Pei Yingjue. Su Yi stopped at the point after he had left, watching the screen intently.
“But what if he does not want the evidence?” 777 suddenly asked.
Su Yi was puzzled. “Why would he not want it? Even if he does not want to claim his identity as the real Su family young master, he should want to know his origins. Otherwise, he would not have taken my nail for a paternity test. Only once I am sure he took the hair and did the test can I pull up the records and break up with him logically. It is better for him too; the Su family is already targeting him. He can only survive if he is recognized by them. Besides, why would he not take it? It is not like he does not care about his origins at all, or that he is fully committed to the status quo and wants to spend his life with me.”
Su Yi’s words cut off abruptly. 777, waiting for the rest, sent several question marks.
“What happened?”
The surveillance video was still playing, the glow illuminating Su Yi’s tight jawline. The screen showed everything from the moment Su Yi left until now. During that time, Pei Yingjue had not touched the shawl once. He had not even looked at it closely. Pei Yingjue just stood there, obediently waiting for Su Yi. He had not done anything else.
