- Chapter 18 - Fake Young Master Alpha x Real Young Master Alpha (18)
The terrace?
Was the terrace the place Su Yi mentioned earlier?
Pei Yingjue stood up immediately. “Thank you, Auntie.”
Without staying a second longer, he stepped quickly up the stairs toward the rooftop.
Auntie Mei watched his hurried figure and glanced at her phone several times, murmuring quietly, “The young master said about an hour, so it should not be too late now.”
Pei Yingjue ran to the third floor in two or three steps and saw that the terrace door was not fully closed. He approached.
“Su Yi, are you crazy!”
A roar of uncontrollable anger made Pei Yingjue’s breath hitch, followed immediately by a familiar voice.
“Brother, let me go!”
It was Su Yi’s voice.
Pei Yingjue’s heart sank, and he instinctively pushed the door open.
Upon opening the door, Pei Yingjue was frozen in place by the scene before him. Su Yi was being pressed against the railing with his hands behind his back. His clothes were disheveled, the back of his collar was pulled open, and a hand was pressing against his gland. Because of the obstruction of the hand, one could only see glimpses of delicate, pink-tinged skin.
The person pressing against him was none other than his biological brother, Su Yi. The other man touched Su Yi’s gland without any hesitation, and the heartache in his eyes was something Pei Yingjue understood all too well. That was not the affection one has for a brother.
In a flash, everything connected. All the strange behaviors at the banquet earlier now had a reason. Su Yi actually harbored illicit feelings for his own brother!
“Let him go!”
Su Yi, who had been frantic and seeing red from the wounds on Su Yi’s body, suddenly felt a pair of hands thrust before him. They attempted to pull the youth from his embrace with forceful strength. Su Yi naturally refused to let go; he frowned and tried to hold Su Yi closer, but when he looked down, he saw those bright red scratches.
The hand that had been firmly gripping Su Yi’s shoulder suddenly loosened its strength. Su Yi was abruptly pulled away and crashed into a hard chest. He quickly looked up and glanced at Su Yi, a flash of surprise crossing his eyes. It was only a fleeting moment.
Su Yi was pulled behind Pei Yingjue’s back.
The softness in his arms vanished suddenly, and Su Yi’s gaze turned cold. He looked at this uninvited guest, this interloper who had laid claim to his brother. Su Yi stared at Pei Yingjue with narrowed eyes before his gaze shifted past him to Su Yi. The boy actually dared to peek out and quickly winked at him, pleading for him to keep the secret.
With no surprise at all, it was clear who the instigator was. Su Yi clicked his tongue; he had not yet decided to agree.
“Wandering around a host’s house without permission seems quite impolite.” Su Yi straightened his sleeves and took a step forward, stepping on the scattered reports, and gave Pei Yingjue a cold look.
“Is it polite to lay hands on your own brother?”
Pei Yingjue’s tone was icy. The moment he rushed in, he had noticed the knife on the ground, which was still stained with blood. He glanced sideways at Su Yi. His height advantage allowed him to see the blood-red stains on Su Yi’s collar even when the boy’s head was lowered.
Pei Yingjue’s anger was easily ignited by that shade of red. He frowned and glared at Su Yi. This man was truly worse than a beast.
Su Yi ignored his anger and spoke only to Su Yi. “I will call Lin Ke now.”
Before he could see Su Yi’s response, Pei Yingjue stepped half a pace to the side, completely blocking Su Yi’s line of sight. Su Yi did not have a good temper, and having been in power for years, very few people ever disobeyed him. Faced with such blatant provocation, he narrowed his eyes at the person who clearly did not know the heights of the heavens.
Pei Yingjue only tilted his head and asked softly, “Do you want to go with him, Su Yi?”
“Su Yi, we did not finish our conversation just now,” Su Yi said.
The two confronted each other, neither willing to back down a single step, yet they were in perfect sync as they turned all their attention and gazes toward Su Yi. They were waiting for him to make a decision.
After a long silence, Su Yi stepped out from behind Pei Yingjue. Their eyes immediately fixed on him. Su Yi did not look at Pei Yingjue, but at Su Yi. “Brother.”
Upon hearing this, the corners of Su Yi’s mouth curled slightly, and he reached out his hand toward Su Yi generously. Pei Yingjue pursed his lips tightly, watching Su Yi from the side.
“Brother, what I said just now was sincere.”
The smile on Su Yi’s face faded.
“I hope you can consider it again. I will leave now.”
Before Pei Yingjue could react, he was taken by a warm hand. He lowered his eyes a beat late and saw Su Yi gently tugging his hand.
“Let us go,” Su Yi whispered, squeezing his hand.
With that, Su Yi pulled the dazed Pei Yingjue toward the door, but he paused at the threshold. “Brother, I am sorry.”
The door opened and then closed, leaving Su Yi standing alone on the terrace, his expression grim. With his methods, if he wanted to keep someone, Su Yi would not even be able to get out the door. But he could not push Su Yi too hard; Su Yi was not a pet he kept in a cage.
After a few breaths, Su Yi managed to suppress the rage in his heart. He bent down to pick up the examination forms he had stepped on. These recorded Su Yi’s symptoms and his compatibility with Pei Yingjue, which was 15%. It was even lower than his own.
Su Yi rubbed his brow.
The secretary had already given him Pei Yingjue’s information. He was born in City D and attended school there from elementary to high school, only entering Morristy Academy through special recruitment for university. He had no parents and lived in an orphanage until he was seven before being adopted. Currently, the orphanage had closed down, and the reasons for it and information on his adoptive parents had not yet been clarified.
Three years ago, Su Yi had searched all registered pheromones in City A for testing. Pei Yingjue had not yet arrived in City A. Later, Su Yi’s search intensity decreased, and combined with the fact that Pei Yingjue had never actively registered his pheromones in City A, he had managed to slip through the cracks. Otherwise, he would never have allowed such a person to contact Su Yi. He was a fish that escaped the net.
Under the current circumstances, he could not gamble Su Yi’s entire life by forcibly imprisoning him and irrigating him with pheromones.
Su Yi rubbed his brow. If Su Yi was just treating his illness or playing around with a few bed partners, he could turn a blind eye. After all, when this person came home, he was still his brother and still closest to him. Even if he truly wanted Pei Yingjue to treat him and bought the man to keep in the house as a pet, he could endure it.
But looking at Su Yi’s stance, it did not look like a case of coercion; it seemed to be a situation where both parties were willing. A marking where both parties are willing could easily breed other things, and that was not the result Su Yi wanted to see.
Su Yi was feeling irritable when his phone rang.
“Speak.” Su Yi had no patience left.
“Chairman Su, I found the orphanage you asked me to investigate. This orphanage was originally in City A and was named Sunshine Orphanage. The person who adopted Pei Yingjue was named Li Shun.”
Suddenly, Su Yi gripped his phone tightly. “Is the specific information in my email?”
“Yes, it has been organized and sent. Should I continue investigating?” the secretary asked.
Su Yi opened his email. After scanning all the information before him at a glance, his heart sank completely.
“Investigate. And get another sample of his pheromones,” Su Yi ordered immediately. He had to confirm whether this person truly was the one. If he was, Su Yi had to be separated from Pei Yingjue.
Meanwhile, on the other side, Su Yi led Pei Yingjue away from the villa through a side door. They walked until they reached an open space far away before Pei Yingjue stopped. Seeing that he could not pull him any further, Su Yi turned around and saw Pei Yingjue looking at him with a slight frown.
“Let me see the injury, okay?”
Pei Yingjue had been staring at the back of Su Yi’s neck since they left, but the suit collar was too fitted, making it impossible for him to even see the wound. He could only let his imagination exaggerate that patch of red.
The hand holding his loosened, and Pei Yingjue’s heart hung in suspense.
“I am fine. Did we not agree to come with me first?” Su Yi said with a faint smile.
Pei Yingjue finally remembered their agreement. He checked the time; it was already eleven o’clock at night. But he believed Su Yi’s health was more important. A birthday did not depend on this one night.
Pei Yingjue looked at Su Yi with concern, but Su Yi did not feel the same. Seeing Pei Yingjue’s fingers intertwined at his side, which was a clear sign of anxiety and restlessness, Pei Yingjue sighed.
“Let me see if it is serious first.” Pei Yingjue took a step back.
Su Yi’s body stiffened for a moment before he shuffled over in small steps, turned his back to Pei Yingjue, and gently pulled back his collar. Upon seeing a thin line of blood on the fair neck, Pei Yingjue almost blurted out a reversal of his decision. He reached out to touch it a beat late, and Su Yi flinched. The blood had already dried; the wound was not very heavy, just a scratch on the skin.
“Su Yi, I do not want you to mistreat yourself because of others.” Pei Yingjue frowned, unable to look away and unable to look directly at the wound.
“I know what I am doing. It is just a scratch; it does not hurt.” Su Yi turned around to explain. Seeing Pei Yingjue’s knitted brows, he lowered his head and apologized sincerely, “I understand now.”
Looking at the fluffy curls, a surge of anger was trapped in Pei Yingjue’s chest. Su Yi was just good at pretending; he apologized quickly but never changed. This was already the countless time he had done this.
Seeing how Su Yi stubbornly refused to go to the hospital, Pei Yingjue sighed softly and raised his hand to ruffle that soft hair. “Did you not say we were running out of time?”
Su Yi looked up suddenly, his previous repentance and guilt vanishing instantly. He reached out to hold Pei Yingjue’s hand and shook it, acting cute. “Let us go.”
As Pei Yingjue was pulled into the car, he thought to himself: Su Yi was not nearly as well-behaved as he appeared on the surface; ninety percent of that good behavior was an act. And yet, he actually believed it.
As Pei Yingjue watched Su Yi open the car door and sit in the driver’s seat, he raised an eyebrow. “You have a driver’s license?”
Su Yi raised an eyebrow back at him, pulled out a license, and threw it into his lap, then gave a light huff. Pei Yingjue caught it and opened it. What greeted him was Su Yi’s face, which looked not at all well-behaved. When this person’s face was cold, he looked extremely aloof. Coupled with his beautiful features, he had the look of a total playboy; he was the kind of wealthy scion who walks through a thousand flowers without a single leaf sticking to him.
“It is real,” Su Yi mentioned.
Pei Yingjue glanced at his smug look, unable to reconcile it with the photo for a moment. A photo cannot capture a person’s personality, he thought.
“Yes, I can see that. Going for a drive?” Pei Yingjue closed the license and watched as Su Yi skillfully started the ignition, then asked the question.
“It is a secret,” Su Yi huffed.
Pei Yingjue raised an eyebrow and did not ask further. Neither of them mentioned what happened at the banquet. The car sped away from the villa. When they reached a patch of wasteland, Su Yi stopped the car.
“Is this where you kill me and take my goods?” Pei Yingjue joked as he unfastened his seatbelt.
“No.” Su Yi leaned over, those beautiful eyes giving a seductive look. “I am here to hijack your beauty.”
Pei Yingjue looked down at him. A warm yellow light hung above them, and they were so close that he could see the details of Su Yi’s face and those full lips. A slender finger tapped Su Yi’s forehead, pushing him back without much force.
“Hijack it later,” Pei Yingjue said. Currently, they were not in a legitimate relationship where beauty could be hijacked.
Su Yi blinked, and it was unclear if he understood. He huffed twice and sat back. They got out of the car together. Pei Yingjue realized then that this was not a patch of wasteland but a golf course. Standing on high ground, they could clearly see the vast expanse of grass below.
“Why come here?” Pei Yingjue asked. This did not look like a place for a birthday party.
Su Yi did not answer, but instead asked, “Guess what day it is today!”
Pei Yingjue tilted his head at him. “October 23rd, your birthday.”
Su Yi crossed his index fingers, making a big “X” at him. “Wrong guess.”
“The first anniversary of the death of the matcha cake?”
Su Yi raised an eyebrow. “That should be tomorrow. I finished it in two sittings.”
“The 50th day of our acquaintance?” Pei Yingjue ventured.
Su Yi’s eyes lit up. “You remember it so clearly?”
Pei Yingjue shifted his gaze elsewhere.
“Even though that is also worth commemorating, it is not it,” Su Yi said.
“Then what is it?” Pei Yingjue asked.
Su Yi smiled slightly and looked up at him, saying softly, “Today is your birthday.”
Bang!
Bundles of fireworks exploded into the sky as if by plan. All the lights of the golf course snapped on. Pei Yingjue looked down from that misty gray and saw an incredibly grand show of blue fireworks.
As if in slow motion, Su Yi produced a small gift box and opened it slowly before Pei Yingjue’s eyes. It was a misty purple brooch.
“Happy birthday, Pei Yingjue.”
Amidst the thunderous sound of fireworks, Pei Yingjue watched Su Yi smile and heard that voice, which was incredibly clear even amidst the pyrotechnics.
“You” Pei Yingjue spoke, his voice sounding raspy.
“Want to ask how I knew?” Su Yi glanced at him with a smile. “Please, did you forget what I said when we met? How could I not know about this? Happy birthday, Pei Yingjue,” Su Yi repeated.
Pei Yingjue stared at him fixedly.
The fireworks had long since ended, but the tremor seemed to remain in his heart. He had always thought that he did not value or care about birthdays, but when Su Yi placed the gift before him, his long-dead heart miraculously came back to life. It throbbed and throbbed, making his chest feel tight. Su Yi was too cunning.
“Where is my gift?” Seeing him dazed, Su Yi reached out his hand and demanded it as if it were only natural.
Pei Yingjue looked at the jade-like hand, took a deep breath, supported the blue silk gift box with one hand, and opened it with the other, revealing the earring inside that was as brilliant as the blue sky. Su Yi’s gaze paused as he saw the earring.
“Su Yi, happy birthday.” At the moment of presenting the gift, Pei Yingjue was uncharacteristically nervous. “Also, I want to express my gratitude for the help you have given me during this time. At the same time, I am sorry. During the time you were helping me treat my illness, I developed wretched thoughts about you because of my own base nature, violating the agreement we made. Now, I am laying everything bare before you. And, I want to selfishly express my feelings to you. I like you, Su Yi.”
Pei Yingjue spoke solemnly. He looked directly into Su Yi’s eyes, dissecting his feelings, the starting point of which was not exactly honorable, and presenting them to Su Yi. He chose to leave the entire decision to Su Yi.
As he watched the boy bend down and hold the gift box out to him with both hands, Su Yi’s eyelashes fluttered. Looking at Pei Yingjue’s somewhat comical and dramatic gesture and that beautiful blue earring, Su Yi sighed inwardly. What a good student. This made him almost unable to bear continuing his plan.
Su Yi lowered his eyes. From an angle where Pei Yingjue could not see, the depths of his eyes were as calm as those of an outsider. He reached out his hand to touch the gift box and then gently pushed it back.
“I am sorry, I cannot agree to you right now.”
The surroundings became terrifyingly quiet. In the long silence, Pei Yingjue stood up straight. His black and white eyes stared intently at Su Yi, but in the end, he did not receive a rebuttal.
So, this was what it felt like to be rejected. Pei Yingjue stared at the earring, thinking dazed thoughts.
“Why tell me now? Why does it have to be now” Su Yi looked at the earring and whispered with a bitter smile.
“Can you take this earring back?”
Pei Yingjue’s heart sank. His eyelashes trembled, and thoughts surged in his mind only to be suppressed one by one. He only mechanically followed Su Yi’s words and reached out to cover the lid of the box.
“Otherwise, I will not be able to stop myself from accepting it,” Su Yi said softly.
Pei Yingjue’s hand paused. He keenly sensed the tremor at the end of Su Yi’s sentence. He did not immediately close the box; instead, he looked at Su Yi, scanning him from head to toe, finally seeing clear internal conflict in those grey eyes.
“You can accept it,” Pei Yingjue said.
Su Yi gave a faint smile, one that was exceptionally aloof. This was the second time Su Yi had behaved this way in front of him. The previous feeling of irritability surged back and washed over Pei Yingjue. He looked at Su Yi.
Were all the feelings he had sensed before fake? Had he misunderstood Su Yi’s meaning? Actually, was the “like” Su Yi mentioned at the beginning just admiration? Was he just being sentimental? Thoughts grew uncontrollably in Pei Yingjue’s heart, like vines spreading and occupying his mind.
“Pei Yingjue, are you not going to ask me why?” Su Yi suddenly spoke. While Pei Yingjue was reflecting, he watched the internally conflicted boy quietly. “Are you not going to ask me why I was arguing with my brother on the balcony?”
Pei Yingjue looked up almost instinctively following his words. Su Yi looked at him, his purple-ringed eyes meeting his. “Ask me.”
WARNING! WARNING! Criminal 003 is using charm. Third warning! Forced punishment about to commence. Within the next 10 hours, Criminal 003 can only speak the truth. Any deceptive language will result in immediate electric shock correction.
What are you doing? Are you crazy? Why use charm at a time like this! 777 screamed.
Su Yi, however, looked at the dazed boy before him with utter indifference. Until the purple outer ring of the boy’s pupils faded, he heard Pei Yingjue speak.
“Su Yi, why? Are you sincere?”
The moment the words left his mouth, they were like a sharp sword cutting through the vines spreading in his heart. All that remained was the anxiety of waiting for Su Yi’s reply. Su Yi curled his lips imperceptibly and quickly lowered his gaze.
“My brother said there is hope for the pheromone situation.”
Pei Yingjue was startled and asked, “How can it be saved?”
Su Yi, however, was not as happy as one might imagine. He only gave Pei Yingjue a faint look, the depths of his eyes filled with infinite sorrow.
“Irrigation with pheromones from an Alpha with a low rejection rate.”
Rejection rate? Pei Yingjue frowned slightly. “Being able to solve the gland problem is a good thing.”
Upon hearing this, Su Yi gave a smile that was uglier than anything. “The person with the lowest rejection rate with me is my brother.”
It was like a bolt from the blue, striking Pei Yingjue right on the head. He immediately realized what those scattered papers on the floor were and why Su Yi wanted to hurt himself. Marking with a relative; no one could accept this treatment proposal.
Looking at Su Yi’s dejected appearance, Pei Yingjue first calmed himself and asked, “Are there no other Alphas with low rejection rates?”
