- Chapter 4 - Seduction
At the mention of the word “frigid,” the corners of Chi Wenqiu’s eyes twitched. He did not think Qu Sinian was frigid in the slightest; on the contrary, the man frequently forced him to endure exhaustive torment in bed.
The old butler’s voice carried a note of pity. “Alas, the Master is a man after all, and all people have desires. It is just that,” he intentionally let the sentence trail off, shaking his head with a sigh.
“It is just what?” Qu Jing asked. “Is the other person some gold-digger with bad character? I do not care. As long as they do not come looking for trouble with me, I will not interfere with who my father is with. It is just that he is getting on in years to be thinking about carrying on the family line. It is a bit late, is it not? I suppose I should start considering whether I want a brother or a sister.”
“The Master is only thirty-six. He is in the prime of his life!” the old butler insisted.
“Oh, is he not turning thirty-seven soon? Tell me, if he finds some twenty-year-old girl, an old cow eating tender grass, how embarrassing would that be?”
“Eating tender grass is true enough, but, I am afraid there will be no carrying on of the family line.”
“What do you mean by that?”
Just as Qu Jing was questioning him, an elegant man walked down the spiral staircase. His casual attire gave him a more relaxed and approachable air than usual. His slightly long hair was not tied back, resting loosely against his shoulders.
With a polite smile, he spoke to Qu Jing. “Young Master, Wenqiu has something he would like to discuss with you in private.”
“Fine. Let us go to my room.”
“Young Master,” the old butler called out, his tone unreadable.
Qu Jing finally noticed the butler’s reaction. Following the man’s pointed gaze, his confusion deepened. “Butler Wu, if you have something to say, just say it.”
The old butler had no choice but to speak plainly. “Chi Wenqiu is the person we were just talking about.”
Qu Jing was stunned. He looked back at Chi Wenqiu, who was now standing directly in front of him. The man’s features were strikingly beautiful, bordering on peerless. However, Qu Jing no longer had the heart to appreciate it; the old butler’s words were echoing in his mind.
A man in his early twenties, combined with the inability to produce an heir, that would mean…
After the initial shock passed, Qu Jing was consumed by rage. “Since when did my father become gay!” He slammed his hand onto the table. The loud crash made the old butler’s heart jump. He understood Qu Jing’s anger, but he feared being caught in the crossfire.
“I will not allow it! I absolutely will not allow it! My father knows exactly why I went abroad. Why choose a man? Are women not good enough? Even if he wants to find someone, he cannot bring them into this house. It disgusts me!”
Despite the harsh verbal assault, Chi Wenqiu did not even flinch. He remained composed and said calmly, “I thought that after studying abroad, the Young Master’s mind would have become more open. I did not expect you to be just as prejudiced against niche relationships as you were years ago.”
Qu Jing glared at him, staring at that calm, beautiful face. His loathing grew. “Yes, so what? If you had not shamelessly seduced my father, would he have lost his mind and said he wanted to marry you? A man selling his body, is that not disgusting?”
Chi Wenqiu let out a soft laugh. “I do not find it disgusting. If the Young Master had experienced the bitter days I had when I had no money to spend, you would naturally understand a little better.”
“Who wants to understand you! Get out! I do not want to see you!”
Like a furious lion, Qu Jing stormed away.
The old butler gave a hollow sigh. “There is nothing to be done. The Young Master is still too young. Though, I am also just an old man who cannot keep up with the times. I do not understand the Master’s thinking either.”
“I do not understand it either.” Chi Wenqiu looked at him, his gaze making the old butler feel nervous and guilty.
“Why, why are you looking at me? Even if I did not say it now, the Young Master would have found out eventually!”
“I am simply wondering why you stole Qu Jing’s things. Was it under the instructions of Qu Sinian?”
The old butler was startled by the accusation, not even stopping to note the disrespect of Chi Wenqiu using the Master’s full name.
“What kind of talk is that! Am I the sort of traitor who bites the hand that feeds him? Do not go stealing things yourself and then try to frame me!” The old man offered a mild scolding before quickly reverting to his facade of an honest, easy-going worker. “However, even if the Young Master objects to you marrying into the Qu family, the Master will not change his mind, right?”
The old butler had been clashing with Chi Wenqiu for a long time and rarely came out on top. Seeing Chi Wenqiu suffer a setback and potentially face eviction made him feel quite smug.
Since that day, Qu Jing had been avoiding Chi Wenqiu. Even when they crossed paths, he looked straight ahead, refusing to acknowledge him. Chi Wenqiu was secretly investigating the cause of the theft but had no leads, leading him to suspect more and more that Qu Sinian had authorized it.
“You have been a bit distracted lately.”
In the corporate office, Qu Sinian spoke in a low voice to Chi Wenqiu, who was helping him adjust his collar after a meeting.
The man before him was breathtaking, fair-skinned and beautiful, with a grace that would put peonies to shame. Yet Chi Wenqiu did not like using his looks to serve others; he usually worked in silence, trying to minimize his presence as much as possible.
Qu Sinian refused to let him have his way, constantly making Chi Wenqiu handle matters on his behalf. Chi Wenqiu’s prominence was so great that he appeared more like the person in charge of the company than the CEO himself.
“I am still thinking about who stole the items.”
“Haha, it is rare for you to be so concerned about such things.” The older man’s rough fingertips stroked Chi Wenqiu’s smooth cheek. He pulled him in for a kiss, pressing him against the solid wood desk and lifting one of his long legs. The supple thigh pressed against the fabric of the suit trousers, while the slender ankle, encased in a sock, trembled over his shoulder.
“Mmh, do not, there is another meeting soon.”
“It is not important. Ignore it.” Qu Sinian deliberately left a visible bite mark on the most obvious spot, his canines tearing at the thin skin to leave a mark like a red plum blossom.
He loved leaving indelible marks on Chi Wenqiu’s body, such as bite marks and hickeys. However, he did not want tattoos or scars to ruin the young man’s natural beauty, which left him somewhat conflicted.
With a heavy breath, the layers of clothing were pushed up. Qu Sinian’s frame was much larger than Chi Wenqiu’s, and he maintained a fit physique through years of exercise. His calloused palms could easily support Chi Wenqiu’s thin back. He laughed softly. “After three years of care, your temperament has become quite refined, but why can I not seem to make you gain any weight?”
Chi Wenqiu struggled to steady his trembling voice, saying what the man wanted to hear. “That is because of the passionate exercise with the Master every night. All of dinner is burned off.”
“Haha, I like hearing that.” The man lowered his head, his gaze teasing and direct. Receiving the signal, Chi Wenqiu wrapped his arms around the man’s neck and was carried toward the bathroom.
The scents of two different perfumes lingered in the room, refusing to dissipate for a long time.
That evening, Qu Jing was tossing and turning in bed after playing video games. He could not fall back asleep, and his stomach was growling. Finally, he forced himself to get up.
A knock sounded at the door. He turned his head sharply, his handsome face dark with irritation, though his eyebrows arched in curiosity.
When he opened the door, he saw a middle-aged maid with a smile on her face.
Holding a tray, she said, “Young Master, Butler Wu asked me to bring you dinner. You must be tired from your games, so please eat something. Do not let yourself go hungry.”
“So talkative,” Qu Jing muttered, though he stepped aside to let her in. A slight sense of disappointment rose in his heart, though he did not know where it came from, making his already low mood even worse.
Watching the maid work, he asked, “Is my father not coming back again tonight?”
“Yes, the Master is quite busy. He usually only comes back two or three times a week to stay the night. Most of the time he is at the company or traveling for business. The butler manages the estate. Eat while it is hot, Young Master; there is the crawfish you like best.”
Restless, Qu Jing could not help but ask directly, “What about that young butler who stays by his side?”
“You mean Chi Wenqiu? He was brought back by the Master. He just runs errands. Besides, I often see him leaving the Master’s room with his clothes in disarray and bite marks on his neck. Their relationship is definitely not ordinary! Ahem, everyone knows this but no one dares to speak of it. I just could not bear to see you kept in the dark, so I mentioned it.”
Even though Qu Jing already knew about their relationship, hearing it spoken aloud made him feel uncomfortable. He resented this strange feeling and could only blame it on bad luck since returning to the country.
“Young Master, you should not get too close to Chi Wenqiu. He is a spirit who sucks the essence out of people, specializing in charming men. Anyone who sees him will be entranced. He is not easy to deal with. You are an upright university student; no matter how much youthful energy you have, you might not be able to withstand him. It is better to stay far away.”
What was this nonsense? It was intended as well-meaning advice, but for some reason, it left a bad taste in Qu Jing’s mouth.
“I do not need you to tell me who I should associate with. Go out, I will eat alone.” Once Qu Jing was left alone in the room again, he could not help but reflect on what the maid had said. It seemed Chi Wenqiu was truly a hypocrite. Who knew how many people he had seduced behind his father’s back? It was a waste of a beautiful face; he was simply shameless!
The more he thought about it, the more frustrated he became. That face, which could enchant the world, looked so pure and cold, yet it stirred a hidden desire within Qu Jing. Heat surged through his abdomen. He did not understand what was happening to him; his feelings toward Chi Wenqiu were bizarre. He wanted him to leave immediately, yet he also thought about the seductive way the man usually charmed people.
He was Qu Sinian’s only son, and the future inheritance would surely be his. So, would the Mistress also…
Clang!
A noise came from the doorway. Thinking it was a clumsy servant cleaning, Qu Jing ignored it, though his train of thought was broken, leaving him feeling angry and resentful.
The faint sound of fabric rubbing together rose again. Even with good soundproofing, it could be heard clearly in the quiet room.
Qu Jing finally reached his limit. “Who is it!”
The sound did not stop; instead, it seemed to get louder, as if intentionally defying him.
Qu Jing stood up immediately. He took a few quick strides to the door and pulled it open.
His vision blurred as he was pushed back a few steps by a heavy weight. Then, he smelled the rich scent of wine. That fragrance reactivated the restlessness he had struggled to suppress, making his heart race as if struck by an electric current.
Qu Jing looked down in shock at the man who had fallen into his arms. “Why is it you?”
The beautiful man appeared to be drunk. He gripped Qu Jing’s sleeve tightly and refused to let go, pressing against him and murmuring that he was cold. He was clearly sweating from the heat, so why was he saying he was cold?
He wanted to cast off the hot potato, but Chi Wenqiu seemed to know he would not be pushed away roughly. Instead, he clung to Qu Jing like an octopus. When he accidentally brushed against a certain spot, the innocent boy’s face flushed a deep red. He gritted his teeth and hissed, “Chi Wenqiu! Does it make you happy to toy with me like this!”
The person in his arms was completely unconscious from the alcohol. Those fragrant, vivid red lips drew close to Qu Jing’s tensed, sweaty neck, his breath scorching.
Qu Jing realized his own tolerance for alcohol must be low; just the scent of the wine on the man was making his brain go cloudy.
