- The Seductive Beauty Sinks Into the Shura Field [Quick Transmigration]
- Chapter 17 - The Price of Darkening
The unconscious Fu Ruhuan was dragged away. He was now half-dead, no longer able to maintain his previous air of grandeur.
On the drive back, Chi Wenqiu leaned heavily against Qu Sinian. He had been shot in the abdomen, and although the wound had received basic treatment, it remained a shocking sight. Even with the protection of a bulletproof vest, a handgun at close range possessed immense destructive power, nearly causing a through-and-through injury.
Furthermore, the physical struggle Qu Sinian had engaged in later had caused the wound to tear open. The constant bleeding increased the risk of infection.
“Master, the young master has arrived home safely. His injuries have been treated, and he should regain consciousness by tomorrow morning,” reported Old Butler Wu from the passenger seat.
“Mm.” As long as the boy was alive, Qu Sinian did not care about much else.
“However,” the old butler looked up, cautiously glancing at Chi Wenqiu through the rearview mirror, “the young master has not fully settled down. He keeps shouting about saving Butler Chi. Even when told he is safe, he refuses to listen. Should we give him a call?”
Chi Wenqiu spoke weakly, “That would be best. The journey back will take at least two hours; he cannot wait that long.” He attempted to sit up. “I have my phone here.”
“Butler Wu,” Qu Sinian spoke abruptly, his voice freezing. Butler Wu immediately fell silent.
Chi Wenqiu lowered his head as well. He could feel the hand around his waist tightening, the pain becoming increasingly sharp. He shifted his position slightly to alleviate the pressure, while the gaze from above felt hot enough to pierce through him.
The man pressed a button, and the privacy partition rose, completely isolating the rear seats. Chi Wenqiu was pressed into the corner between the seat and the window. He asked flusteredly, “Master?”
“You are being very disobedient,” Qu Sinian said lowly.
Chi Wenqiu’s eyes were watery, carrying a pitiful quality. In the deep of the night, long past his usual resting time, his heart was in turmoil and his voice grew faint. “I… I am sorry, Master.”
His reddened earlobe was rubbed between the man’s fingers. The itchy sensation urged Chi Wenqiu to pull away, but instead of retreating, he became even more submissive. He knew that resistance would only invite more ruthless violence; it was better to be compliant from the start.
Qu Sinian clearly desired him intensely, yet he maintained a calm facade, teasing him incessantly until Chi Wenqiu’s waist went soft against him. There were no verbal threats or aggressive movements; the older man simply acted on his whims until his breathing steadied.
As the incident appeared to conclude, the person currently capable of hurting Qu Sinian the most was Chi Wenqiu. He could easily plunge a knife into the man’s chest and deliver a heavy emotional blow. However, it was not enough. The favorability rating was stuck at eighty-five, a boundary neither high nor low. Turning love into hatred was still too difficult.
Should I just give up?
With the favorability rating stagnant for so long, the system in his mind remained very quiet. Chi Wenqiu simply adjusted his sitting position, and the sleeping man immediately tightened his grip. Fingers digging into soft flesh revealed his internal tension.
Qu Sinian was certainly still shaken, though he had not yet decided how to punish his disobedient pet.
“Old Wu, head to Maple Forest Holidays.”
“Master, at this hour, are you certain?”
“Mm.”
Maple Forest Holidays was the name of Qu Sinian’s exclusive villa district, located in a bustling downtown area with convenient transportation. To own a large estate in such a prime location without using it for profit was a massive waste. It had been under renovation recently and was likely finished now.
Chi Wenqiu had never been there, but he knew it was a place where wealthy men kept their mistresses. It was secluded and heavily guarded; almost no one could enter.
Why did Qu Sinian suddenly change course to go there? It could not just be that he wanted to prevent him from seeing Qu Jing, could it?
While he was lost in thought, his chin was tilted up. Qu Sinian locked eyes with him for a moment before leaning down to bite his distinct collarbone. He must have hit a tender spot, as Chi Wenqiu let out a small gasp of pain.
Alert, Qu Sinian immediately grabbed his hand and pulled back the sleeve that partially covered his palm, revealing a bandage soaked red with blood. His tone was full of displeasure. “Why did you not tell me you were injured?”
Chi Wenqiu remained silent while the man, carrying a trace of resentment, continued to leave light red teeth marks on his neck.
His beautiful butler was actually very afraid of pain but was incredibly good at enduring it. Even so, his body’s reactions were honest; the slight tremors and unconscious clinging were exceptionally endearing.
This version of Chi Wenqiu was perfect for having his wings clipped and being tied to one’s side.
The new residence had everything, even providing self-sufficient food supplies, like a miniature world of its own. Chi Wenqiu never imagined that Qu Sinian had been building this inescapable cage for him for a long time.
Looking at Chi Wenqiu’s somewhat cold face, Qu Sinian fastened a custom-made monitor onto the butler’s slender wrist. He laughed softly. “Do you like it? You will live here from now on.”
“What about the company?” the beauty asked quietly, lowering his lashes.
“Do not worry about it. You only need to please me. I will not force you to be with me, nor will I break your legs to stop you from running. Just stay here, only in places where I can see you.”
System: [Ding! Congratulations to the Host for triggering a hidden side quest: Comply with all demands of the darkened target. Reward: Unknown.]
After the cold notification, the system gave a small sob. [Host, our mission seems to have failed! What should we do? You are not going to be locked up forever, are you?]
“I will not. Even at the risk of breaking character, I will not let myself stay here for a lifetime.”
“Why are you spacing out again? Are you talking to someone?” The man’s voice was deep and dangerous. The smell of blood on him was so thick the wind could not blow it away.
Chi Wenqiu snapped back to reality. “No, I was just guessing at my Master’s intentions.”
Qu Sinian turned Chi Wenqiu’s face to force eye contact. “You do not need to know too much. Just be my little pet. This is my gift to you, or you can view it as a punishment. Do you like it?”
The man before him appeared gentle on the surface, but in reality, he was nearly driven mad with rage. If he were as young as Qu Jing, he would have likely exploded in anger long ago. Chi Wenqiu steeled himself and said, “I like it, my Master.”
As the horizon began to turn gray with the dawn, Chi Wenqiu was finally allowed to wash. The dual exhaustion of body and mind caused him to fall asleep in the bathtub. When he startled awake, he found himself lying in bed.
He was fully dressed, and Qu Sinian was nowhere to be seen.
Following the system’s prompt, Chi Wenqiu went to the back garden. Qu Sinian was standing with his back to him, making a phone call.
“Mm, I have hidden him away. Why are you cursing? I never taught you to use foul language. Heh, you do not recognize me as your father? Then go out and ask what other identity you have besides being the son of Qu Sinian. Unless you can finish university without relying on me. A bet? I have no reason to bet with you. Wenqiu is not a stake.”
It sounded like he was talking to Qu Jing. His attitude was unfriendly, and his tone was full of the impatience of someone ready to hang up at any moment. “Instead of constantly asking me where he is, you should reflect on how you managed to get caught. I will not make things difficult for Chi Wenqiu, but one thing is worth noting: he is mine. Risking his life to save you was merely him fulfilling an obligation.”
He hung up the phone decisively. Butler Wu stepped forward and said seriously, “Master, the Old Master is already pressing you to meet the second daughter of the Su family. The banquet at Lanting is at twelve o’clock; there is still time if you leave now.”
Qu Sinian did not respond.
“I am an old man, and I know the value of family. Even at the risk of being fired, I must say this: you have spent your life going against the Old Master and never backing down. Now that his health is failing, his final wish is to see you married with children. The vast Qu family needs a mistress to manage it, and Young Master Qu Jing also…”
“He is already an adult and does not need maternal love. After all, as a father, I have never fulfilled my own responsibilities. Since this is obvious to everyone, leave it alone. Old Wu, you have worked for me for at least thirty years and are more discerning than most. How can you be getting more muddled the older you get?”
The atmosphere suddenly grew heavy, causing the old butler’s back to lose its straightness. Drenched in sweat, he forced himself to speak. “Master, to be honest, I am saying this for your own good. Chi Wenqiu cannot stay any longer. Previously, he was merely your assistant, but now you want to promote him to the position of ‘mistress.’ This… this is improper. Furthermore, the Old Master already knows about this and will certainly not agree.”
“That kind of rhetoric does not work on me; it is only enough to fool Xiao Jing. I know you do not like Wenqiu, but you will gain nothing by driving him away. Rest assured, he will not return to the Qu family home. You will remain the only butler. If we hire anyone new, they will be obedient youngsters who listen to your instructions. That is, provided you stay in your place.”
“I… everything I do is for you! Chi Wenqiu is half-hearted. While following you, he also seduced Young Master Qu Jing! That night when you were at the company, I saw him with my own eyes coming out of the young master’s room. His appearance was simply scandalous! Master, you must not be blinded by such a person!”
“It does not matter. Now he can no longer mess around.”
“How can it not matter?” Butler Wu looked up in fear and unexpectedly saw the expressionless Chi Wenqiu standing behind Qu Sinian.
Qu Sinian, who had long noticed him, turned around and smiled. “Xiao Qiu is awake? Come here.”
The usually obedient Chi Wenqiu did not move. His gaze was indifferent, and his oversized clothes fluttered in the wind around his slender frame.
“Chi Wenqiu?” Qu Sinian walked up to him. Only then did Chi Wenqiu raise his eyes to meet his.
“Go back inside. The wind is very strong.”
As his shoulder was held and he was led back, Chi Wenqiu spoke up as soon as he sat down. “The item Young Master Qu lost back then—that was your doing as well, was it not? You wanted to create conflict between us so you could reap the benefits?”
The older man sat with his legs elegantly crossed, his eyes scanning Chi Wenqiu up and down. The beauty had shed his gentle disguise, becoming colder and possessing a non-human quality that kept others at a distance. Or perhaps, this was his original self.
Qu Sinian was quite happy to see his unmasked, true face.
“Mm? How should I put this? Why don’t you have some breakfast first?”
“Mr. Qu, please answer my question directly.”
The long-lost title immediately took Qu Sinian back to a certain night three years ago. The young man, soaked in alcohol, had looked at him with a stubborn gaze and told him without arrogance or humility that he would spend the rest of his life repaying him.
Qu Sinian did not lack employees or bed partners, but being stared at by Chi Wenqiu’s clear eyes made it impossible for him to say no. Later, Chi Wenqiu not only worked for him but also served him well in bed.
He was still not satisfied with the status quo, greedily wanting to make him his legal wife.
The man curled his lips, saying in his usual relaxed tone, “Chi Wenqiu, you are not from this world, are you?”
