- The Seductive Beauty Sinks Into the Shura Field [Quick Transmigration]
- Chapter 16 - He Does Not Love You at All
“Host, were you pretending just now? You were far too calm in the face of danger!” The system hummed with lingering fear.
“No, those were my true thoughts.”
“Are you not afraid of offending him? He is a madman. What if he goes crazy and kills you too?”
“I would be even crazier than him.”
His hands were cuffed tightly. Chi Wenqiu spent a few points to have the system pick the lock. Currently, Qu Sinian’s favorability was still dropping, falling straight past the safety line of sixty points. Conversely, his blackening value was soaring.
He was truly enraged. He had not been this angry even when his son was kidnapped.
The commotion outside continued. The sound of gunfire was like a heavy rain, loud enough to cause tinnitus. Chi Wenqiu broke free from his restraints but could not open the locked door. The system informed him that the favorability had already dropped to forty.
After three years of painstaking effort, was it all going to end in nothing?
Chi Wenqiu was not resigned to this. He did not rush to leave. Instead, he sat in a chair and waited for the gunfire to subside. His wristwatch received a call from Qu Sinian.
“Where are you?” The man’s voice was magnetic and low, cold and devoid of emotion.
“I…” Chi Wenqiu had just uttered a single word when another gunshot rang out and the call was cut off.
“Host, the signal is fluctuating abnormally. I cannot detect the target’s location!” The system had always avoided Qu Sinian. The mission target was much more powerful than others and could severely affect its judgment. “Host, get down!”
Chi Wenqiu did not hesitate to obey. A second after he hit the floor, a loud explosion rocked the doorway. The lock was blown apart, and debris scattered everywhere. A man with long legs rushed through the rolling smoke, picking Chi Wenqiu up off the ground with one hand.
Chi Wenqiu was one hundred and eighty centimeters tall and his weight was naturally not low, yet he was easily hoisted onto the man’s shoulder. Powerful fingers sank into his flesh. The man strode out with him.
“Fu Ruhuan! What are you trying to do! Are you going to trade me for Qu Sinian’s life? Do not make me look down on you!” Chi Wenqiu had not eaten for half a day. The jolting caused his stomach to churn, and cold sweat broke out from the discomfort.
The man’s steps paused abruptly, then became even swifter. “I did not originally intend to, but now that you mention it, I have to consider it. You are right. No one forced me to do this. From the beginning, it was just my own unrequited passion, thinking you would fall in love with me.”
It was not that he could not compare to Qu Sinian, but rather that Chi Wenqiu had never intended to respond to either of them. His heart was made of iron, and nothing could shake it. Fu Ruhuan could not help but wonder if Chi Wenqiu would show even a hint of the reaction a human should have toward fear if his life were at stake.
“I love you. I truly love you, but I hope even more that you can return my feelings.”
Chi Wenqiu did not notice what he was saying. His mind was occupied by a single sentence from the system: “The mission target’s blackening value is full. Please pay attention to your personal safety!”
What did that mean?
Before Chi Wenqiu could fully understand, he was set down. A gun barrel, still warm, was pressed against his temple. Fu Ruhuan shouted hoarsely, “Qu Sinian! Get down here! We are ending this today!”
Chi Wenqiu’s neck was squeezed as he was forced to look up. He saw a man in full gear descending from a helicopter. The man gripped a rope ladder, and the gaze he shot straight at them was incredibly cold.
Chi Wenqiu did not dare meet his eyes. Just as he turned his gaze away, he heard Fu Ruhuan say grimly, “You really like Qu Sinian, do you not? Does he treat you better than I do, or is he wealthier? He does not love you at all. He only lusts after your body.”
Chi Wenqiu’s gentle voice was made ethereal by the night wind. “I spent at least three years accepting the fact that he does not love me.”
Despite the distance, Qu Sinian could tell what he said through lip reading. His gaze deepened even further.
Fu Ruhuan’s breathing immediately became heavy. He ground his teeth fiercely. “Then what does my passion for you count for!” The gun barrel pressed harder against Chi Wenqiu’s temple. In the light cast by the helicopter, the man became hysterical. “I do not even expect you to love me much. Just do not ignore me!”
“Fu Ruhuan.” Qu Sinian landed on the ground and provoked him as he walked over. “You look like a pathetic clown.”
The man’s pride was instantly shattered. He raised his hand and fired a shot, hitting Qu Sinian in the right ribs. Even with the protection of a bulletproof vest, the impact caused his steps to falter, but it did not stop his advance.
He stopped five meters away.
Fu Ruhuan pointed the gun again at the lover he adored so much. “What do you know, Qu Sinian! I would give everything for him, including my life!”
Qu Sinian, wearing portable military gear, leisurely removed his belt pouch for weapons and ammunition. It was as if he intended to fight with his bare hands. He said casually, “But Qiu does not care about your sacrifice. In fact, it is a burden to him. Stake everything you have, Fu Ruhuan. Fight me fair and square. Do not always hide behind someone else like a coward.”
“You bastard! You have a way with words, do you not? Do you want to be a saint so badly!” Fu Ruhuan lost his temper and cursed. If he had not been pressured by Qu Sinian, he would not have resorted to using Chi Wenqiu as a threat.
The wind scattered Chi Wenqiu’s slightly long hair. The scent of his hair was light. He kept his long eyelashes lowered, appearing as if he were in mourning. Even in this situation, he was still breathtakingly beautiful. It was no wonder others were willing to die for him.
What angered Fu Ruhuan was not the rejection, but Chi Wenqiu’s cold attitude. It was as if love and lack thereof had nothing to do with him. Even though he had been pushed to a dead end for his sake, Chi Wenqiu would not even give him a second glance.
Fu Ruhuan’s chest heaved violently. He pulled Chi Wenqiu toward him and pinched his chin, biting down on his cool lips. Only in this situation could he clearly see the surprised expression in those dark eyes.
Reflected in Chi Wenqiu’s eyes, Fu Ruhuan felt a sense of tragic satisfaction. He was nearing his end, yet he still thought of the other person.
He bit down hard on the jade-like lips, tasting a hint of rust. Having had his fill, Fu Ruhuan became calm and whispered, “I will not hurt you, but I must kill Qu Sinian. If there truly is a next life, I hope I never meet you again.”
Chi Wenqiu licked his injured lip. The unpleasant smell of blood made him knit his brows. Sweat soaked his shirt, and having endured the sticky feeling for so long, he had wanted to go home and bathe long ago.
But now was not the time. Qu Sinian’s substantive gaze nearly saw through his thoughts. Tossing aside his last piece of equipment, the older man spread his hands and said, “Beat me, and I will let you go.”
Fu Ruhuan replied, “I am taking him with me too!”
“Fine.” Without much hesitation, Qu Sinian curled his lips in a nonchalant manner. Half of his handsome face was splashed with cold blood that clearly did not belong to him.
The surrounding people watched closely and the pressure mounted. If this were not handled quickly, the losses would only grow. Fu Ruhuan pushed Chi Wenqiu aside and said warmly in his usual tone, “Go and rest for a bit.”
Temporarily free from worrying about Chi Wenqiu, Qu Sinian rushed forward and slammed a fist into Fu Ruhuan’s face, sending the large man stumbling back. Fu Ruhuan was also trained and fought back without yielding. The two traded blows, specifically targeting vital points. Every punch landed with a solid thud.
Chi Wenqiu looked to the side. Fu Ruhuan’s useless men had all been detained by the well-trained bodyguards. Not a single one had escaped. They were crying and begging for mercy; they were just a group of cowards afraid of death.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Three sudden gunshots startled everyone.
Chi Wenqiu looked up and saw Fu Ruhuan had pulled a gun in desperation. Qu Sinian dodged, but his right ear was still injured. At such close range, it would result in deafness at the very least.
Soon, Fu Ruhuan was pinned to the ground by the enraged man. Qu Sinian rained punches down on that falsely elegant face with a hatred that suggested he wanted to beat him to death.
The head of the bodyguards felt something was wrong and hurried forward to intervene. Before he could get within three steps, Qu Sinian’s sharp, hawk-like eyes swept over him. The leader’s nerves jumped, and he nearly knelt as a reflex.
Shifting his gaze, the man with blood on his face saw Chi Wenqiu behind him, arms wrapped around himself. Qu Sinian’s fierce expression softened significantly. After the intense exertion, his chest heaved rapidly and his throat burned so much he could not speak. He curled his lips and beckoned to Chi Wenqiu.
The beauty immediately stepped forward, moving faster and faster until he threw himself into the man’s embrace.
“I am sorry for making you worry.”
Amidst the frantic favorability notifications from the system, Chi Wenqiu wrapped his arms around Qu Sinian’s neck, intending to kiss him. But he realized something and stopped suddenly. He lowered his head and rubbed his lips forcefully, smearing the blood and making it look even more provocative.
“It is fine.” Qu Sinian spoke against his own heart. He brushed away the hair covering Chi Wenqiu’s face. Whether his hair was loose or tied back, he was stunningly beautiful, like a wild rose with thorns, fiery and eye-catching.
Chi Wenqiu took his hand and pressed his face against the broad palm. He tilted his head slightly to kiss the half-fingered glove. His slick tongue swept across the abraded fingers, drawing the scent of gunpowder into his mouth. His warm mouth was incredibly hot and his blood-reddened lips became even more enchanting as they gently enveloped the man’s index finger in an act of moving affection.
The gesture, full of suggestion, undoubtedly pleased the older man. His expression was no longer sharp. He lowered his head and kissed Chi Wenqiu’s forehead. “It is over. Let us go home.”
The favorability stopped exactly at eighty-five, which was far from enough.
“System, is there any way to provoke Fu Ruhuan a bit more? I can spend points.”
“Host, your thoughts are dangerous. Also, your points are nearly gone. If you encounter a life-threatening situation, they will not be enough. Save them.”
Chi Wenqiu fell into a brief state of distraction. Qu Sinian’s eyes flickered as his fingers rubbed Chi Wenqiu’s rounded earlobe. The usual sensitive area did not trigger a reaction; Chi Wenqiu acted as if nothing had happened.
After only three seconds of dazing, Chi Wenqiu looked up at Qu Sinian and said, “Young Master Qu Jing should have arrived home safely. You…” A sharp pain came from his ear. The beauty’s long eyelashes fluttered in panic and his gaze was helpless.
“I do not want to hear his name from your mouth. You should know the consequences of betraying me, Chi Wenqiu. I cannot tolerate interference. Put away whatever thoughts you had before and focus only on me.”
Chi Wenqiu’s dark eyes were like stars in the night sky, revealing a trace of pure indifference to the world. He nodded seriously and said, “I will do my best to serve the Master, even if it means sacrificing my life.”
The second half of that sentence did not sound right. Qu Sinian lectured him warmly, “You are not allowed to joke about your life. Even if I die, you cannot.” Even as he said it, he felt a lack of security in his heart, leaving him feeling empty.
Chi Wenqiu flashed a charming smile at him. Qu Sinian was momentarily dazzled. He slowly lowered his head, his hot breath close enough to intertwine with Chi Wenqiu’s. He restrained the urge to kiss him, knowing that doing so would easily spiral out of control, and now was not the time for tenderness.
After just a slight hesitation, a look of hurt flashed in Chi Wenqiu’s eyes. It seemed he thought Qu Sinian minded that Fu Ruhuan had defiled him.
Qu Sinian did not miss that small reaction. His heart ached and he decisively pulled Chi Wenqiu in for a kiss. Their breathing was chaotic and not a single sound could escape from their sealed lips.
The two embraced and kissed as if no one else were there.
The others tactfully looked away, giving them their space.
