The School Beauty from the Next Class Insisted I Confess - Chapter 3
The rain intensified not long after they left the school gate.
Seeing their clothes gradually soaking through, Xu Qingfeng suggested they take shelter under the eaves up ahead.
It was an eave near an alley, with few houses nearby. The sky was darkening, and it was the first heavy rain of autumn, accompanied by a biting cold wind.
Xia Yiqiu’s home wasn’t far, just a few more street corners away, but the rain was truly heavy. The two huddled close to the wall.
Xu Qingfeng looked at Xia Yiqiu. A few wisps of hair were scattered across her forehead, and her summer school uniform was slightly transparent across her chest.
Xia Yiqiu quickly turned her gaze away, twisting her head to the side, her ears slightly flushed.
“Yiqiu, this is for you.”
Xu Qingfeng took an autumn jacket out of her school bag and handed it over.
“Thank you, Qingfeng.”
Xia Yiqiu’s eyelashes were damp, her eyes filled with gentle affection, and her pleasant voice carried a hint of sweet tenderness.
Xu Qingfeng stared blankly, holding the jacket and forgetting to let go.
How strange, it seems like I’m captivated by you the moment I see you. Even though I’ve long forgotten your face, you seem to have always been in my heart.
Xia Yiqiu chuckled at the silly look on the person opposite her, cocking her head to tease.
“Is our Vice President reluctant to part with it?”
She gently tugged at the jacket, the smile on her face becoming even more radiant.
Xu Qingfeng quickly stuffed the jacket into her arms.
“No.”
Her voice was weak, like a little puppy that had been bullied.
Ah, so cute. Xia Yiqiu decided not to tease her further. She put on the jacket; it carried a faint scent of lavender.
A slight blush rose on her face, and she turned her head away uncomfortably, avoiding Xu Qingfeng’s gaze.
This is her jacket. She just gave it to me to wear. This is her scent.
“What do you think our club badge should be designed as, President?”
Xu Qingfeng suddenly became serious. It was good that she had mentioned discussing it earlier; otherwise, she wouldn’t know how to change the subject. Staring blankly at someone was too embarrassing.
However, her face was quite deceptive, and her acting skills were excellent.
Xia Yiqiu’s hand, which was pulling the zipper, paused instantly, her expression returning to normal. How could this person change topics so quickly?
Is this what a straight girl is like?
She started to think, though. She hadn’t done this before, so they really needed to discuss it properly.
“Hmm, I haven’t figured out the specific content either. It probably needs to have the characteristics of a psychology club, like serving the mental and physical health of students, something like that.”
“Let’s spend the next few days collecting information and discussing it a lot, aiming to have a rough draft before next Monday.”
“What do you think, Vice President Xu?”
Today was Friday evening. Because of the club activities, they didn’t have to attend evening self-study. Students in the second year of high school at Weicheng No. 1 Middle School had a two-day weekend; they only had to come back for evening self-study on Sunday night, so the time allotted to them was quite sufficient.
Discuss it a lot? There’s such a good thing? Now I can send messages openly.
This club was definitely worth joining, Xu Qingfeng muttered in her heart again.
She turned her head, a slight smile hanging on her lips.
“Okay, President.”
Just then, the rain stopped. A loud horn blast greeted them from the exit of the small alley—an elderly man driving a three-wheeled vehicle made his appearance.
“Students up ahead, move aside.”
The location of Weicheng No. 1 Middle School was indeed remote, in the city’s outskirts, and traffic control here was not strictly enforced.
The two quickly moved to the side to make way.
“Well, Qingfeng, I’ll be going now. I’ll wash the jacket over the weekend and return it to you.”
Xu Qingfeng and Xia Yiqiu’s homes were not on the same route; in fact, they were in opposite directions. Xia Yiqiu had planned to take a taxi home a little further up, as she didn’t want to delay Xu Qingfeng’s return home either. This was also why they hadn’t run into each other on the way to or from school for a whole year.
As for Xu Qingfeng, she was willing to see the other person all the way to her home. The journey wasn’t far for her; in fact, she wished it were longer.
Alas, the heavens were not cooperating!
Right, I can’t ask for too much. Being able to talk this much today is already great.
“Okay, be careful on your way.”
Xu Qingfeng saw Xia Yiqiu wave with a smile, and she unconsciously waved her right hand with a slightly smaller amplitude.
Watching the figure shrink into the distance.
Sigh, she’s gone.
Time to go home. I need to design the club badge properly.
After all, it’s the first project I’ll complete with her.
Ms. Yan got home early today. Upon opening the door, she saw her daughter in high spirits, gesturing continuously with her hands.
“Ah, Mom, I’m home,” she said, quickly running back to her room.
What good thing did this child run into today?
The couple was proud of their daughter, but their demanding work in the city led them to neglect Xu Qingfeng’s care since childhood. The child was always quiet and rarely showed her emotions, with the most routine being the greeting “Mom” when she left and returned home.
She had always been well-behaved, never crying or making a fuss, and her academic performance was excellent. In fact, Yan Chenghua knew her daughter was lively inside, but she never showed it to outsiders. She often wished for the day Xu Qingfeng could warmly interact with them.
Today was different; her daughter looked very happy.
If only she could be this vibrant and happy every day.
Back in her room, Xu Qingfeng spent two hours finishing the rest of her homework, during which she also had dinner. A plate of fruit brought by Ms. Yan rested beside her.
As for Mr. Xu, he was still busy and hadn’t come home yet.
Ah, finally finished writing. Now I can search for information.
After checking through some information about psychology clubs, Xu Qingfeng grabbed the back of a scratch paper and began to draw.
She had studied sketching, and because she was so talented, some teachers had even advised her to pursue an art student path. This was indeed true, not an exaggeration by the teachers. She didn’t like to talk much with others, and spending an entire afternoon drawing was not boring for her; on the contrary, she enjoyed it. However, given her excellent grades, how could the class teacher and parents agree?
Xu Qingfeng herself was largely indifferent.
Everything is dispensable.
She first drew a circle, then felt it was inappropriate. It should have gaps from large to small, representing the healing of the soul. She drew a smaller circle in the middle, containing two half-faces, one open-eyed and one closed-eyed, representing the complexity of the human mind.
Hmm, I need to add something more.
She placed her hand on her chin, thinking.
Yiqiu said it should serve the mental and physical health of students. Why not add the words “Harbor of the Soul” between the large and small circles? It’s distinctive and relevant to the theme.
Sure enough, I’m a little genius, Xu Qingfeng sometimes had a certain degree of self-conceit, which others couldn’t see.
As for the color scheme and some other issues, she didn’t want to finish them yet or perfect them entirely. It’s time to discuss.
How can I talk to her if I don’t discuss?
Xu Qingfeng ate a slice of apple, contentedly opening a messaging application.
Her friend, Gao Zhi, had sent 99+ messages.
Xu Qingfeng habitually scrolled to the top and started reading.
“Aaaaaah, Qingfeng, I’m saved.”
“Hahahahahahahahahahaha.”
“She said she’ll decide after we meet.”
“What should I prepare?”
Xu Qingfeng understood. Gao Zhi’s pen pal, named Tiantian, was coming to Weicheng No. 1 Middle School for a week of exchange studies in a few months. The reason they knew each other was that Weicheng No. 1 Middle School held an annual exchange conference with Fushun Middle School in Country A. Over time, exchanging pen pals also became popular among the students of the two schools.
This year, Gao Zhi’s pen pal was selected for the exchange study, so she finally agreed. She wanted to give this nascent, text-based, spiritual first love a chance and planned to decide whether to break up after meeting Gao Zhi.
Xu Qingfeng became interested.
Gao Zhi had already exchanged photos with the other person, so there was no deception involved, and they had been dating for several months, with no issues in communication.
Meeting in person and then possibly changing her mind.
I see, it must be an issue with future planning. From this perspective, this online friend named Tiantian genuinely likes Gao Zhi to consider things so far ahead.
“I think you should think about your future together in these few months.”
“?”
What does that mean? Gao Zhi was a bit confused, scratching her head.
“You should think about the direction you want to strive for, such as planning together which university to attend and where to work afterward. This way, you can have a plan and give each other a sense of security, rather than taking things one step at a time.”
Xu Qingfeng spoke from experience, as she was a person who planned everything.
Gao Zhi suddenly realized.
“Actually, I do have some ideas. Haven’t you noticed I’ve been studying hard lately?”
Gao Zhi gave an eye-winking heart sign.
A bit nauseating.
But that makes sense now. I knew Gao Zhi had been acting unusually lately, even completing her homework on time. There was a reason after all.
“Then that’s fine. For the next few months, just talk to her sincerely about everything. Discuss the final outcome after you meet!”
Gao Zhi felt relieved.
She didn’t expect Xu Qingfeng, who usually seemed cold and indifferent to romance, to be so helpful at a crucial moment.
She is indeed my top student best friend.
“Thank you, Qingfeng, mwah mwah.”
“You’re welcome.”
Gao Zhi finally ended the chat.
Heavens above!
It was already half-past eleven. Will sending a message now disturb her?
Damn it, Xu Qingfeng was displeased.
Sighing, she decided to wash up before going to bed.
