- Chapter 7 - We Are Sleeping Together
“Sir, may I come in?”
It was Butler Chen.
“Enter,” Bo Yizhou replied, his eyes fixed steadily forward.
Butler Chen pushed the door open gently and entered with a cup of coffee, carefully placing it on the desk to Bo Yizhou’s right.
“How are they doing?” Bo Yizhou asked suddenly.
Butler Chen was taken aback for a moment before realizing who he meant by “they.” He replied, “Mr. Gu is tutoring the young master with his homework.”
Bo Yizhou nodded. It seemed they were getting along well. He understood Chaochao’s temperament quite well; his mother had been worried that they would not get along, but it seemed she had worried for nothing.
Butler Chen quietly exited the study.
The rich aroma of coffee filled the room as Bo Yizhou picked up the cup and took a sip.
In another room, Gu Wancheng caught a scent in the air. “Where is that coffee smell coming from?”
Chaochao said, “Grandpa Butler must have brought coffee to Father.”
He lowered his voice and added, “I will tell you a secret: coffee does not taste good. I tried a sip once, and it was super bitter.”
As he spoke, he made a distorted face as if he could still taste the bitterness from that time, just to make sure Gu Wancheng understood.
It was indeed super bitter, but coffee truly smelled wonderful. However, the bitterness was also very real. Perhaps only a “Dominant CEO” with broken taste buds could drink coffee like water; tea was definitely better.
Gu Wancheng deeply agreed. Once, because the coffee smelled so good, he could not resist his curiosity. He almost lost his sense of taste from the bitterness. Ever since then, he had kept coffee at a respectful distance. It truly was a case of “curiosity killed the cat.”
“Hurry up and finish your homework.”
Chaochao pouted but picked up his pen again.
Hmph, what is wrong with me resting for a bit?
Seeing Chaochao writing again, Gu Wancheng, having nothing to do, decided to play on his phone. He did not know what to play, but he simply wanted to use it. He opened his phone, clicking on one app then another to take a look.
“Who is ‘Darling, You Are Such a Commoner’?”
They still have not dug him out yet? This batch of netizens is not very capable.
Looking at the comments, people were guessing all sorts of things, but none were correct.
All the other participants had been revealed except for him, the commoner. The production team played this hand well; there would definitely be many people watching on the premiere day just to see who this commoner was. Some people online were even guessing whether he was male or female, and they had even started a betting pool. This would not do; he had to go place a bet too.
Exiting the page, he found the place where they were betting. Topping up and placing a bet were done in one smooth motion.
Looking at the notification of his successful bet, Gu Wancheng smiled with satisfaction. Just like that, more pocket money was on the way.
In Xingyuan Entertainment, Jiang Yu and his manager, Li Jie, sat in a small office.
Jiang Yu frowned and asked, “Have you still not found out who that commoner is?”
Li Jie shook his head irritably. “No. Chen Liqing hid the information too well.”
Jiang Yu grew angry, his tone becoming heavier. “What about money? Is money useless too?”
“Do you think I do not know that? His subordinates do not fall for that at all.” Li Jie felt displeased by Jiang Yu’s rude tone. If not for the person backing Jiang Yu, who would be willing to serve him?
People on the outside did not know his true face, but those of them on the inside knew exactly what he was. What “innocent and kind”? To hell with that.
Jiang Yu’s face turned ugly. If he could not find the person, how was he supposed to trample on them? He could not target the others, and as for Chu Yian, they were not in the same field, so there was no need for rivalry.
Forget it, he would find out the day after tomorrow anyway. Thinking about how he had been suppressed on the trending topics by that commoner lately, his face twisted with resentment, and he held a grudge against Gu Wancheng.
“Go find some internet trolls and prepare for the day after tomorrow.”
Li Jie rolled his eyes secretly but said, “I am going right now.”
Looking at Li Jie’s departing back, Jiang Yu smiled with disdain. He naturally knew the other man was unhappy, but he did not care. Of course, if Li Jie dared to sabotage anything, he would make sure the man could no longer survive in this industry.
Ding-dong. The phone on the desk rang. Jiang Yu picked it up and saw it was Lu Xuanran. A flash of fear crossed Jiang Yu’s eyes as he clicked on the message.
“Ten o’clock tonight, Heaven on Earth.”
Seeing this message, his whole body shook reflexively. His fingers trembled as he replied.
“Okay.”
After sending the message, he slammed his phone face-down onto the desk.
Gu Wancheng, who was engrossed in his phone, was startled by Chaochao’s sudden shout and instinctively slammed his phone face-down on the desk as well.
Gu Wancheng: “Wait, what am I doing?”
“Daddy, I am finished!”
Chaochao was confused by Gu Wancheng’s mysterious behavior for a moment but immediately threw the thought aside to share his joy with his father.
“Chaochao is amazing. Go and give your homework to your father.”
He praised the boy as usual and sent him away. Finally, it was over; he could go back to sleep.
“Mm-hm!”
Chaochao nodded happily and ran out of the room, while Gu Wancheng returned to his own room to catch up on sleep.
“Father!” Before the person arrived, the voice did.
Chaochao rushed into the study with his homework and slapped it onto the desk with a thud.
Bo Yizhou knitted his brows at him, but Chaochao was not afraid at all, tilting his chin up to look back at him.
“I finished my homework!”
Bo Yizhou nodded, pulled the homework toward him, and flipped through it. It was written quite well; it seemed he had been serious.
He looked at the child, who still had the same expression as before, head tilted back, waiting for praise.
He had indeed done a good job this time, and Bo Yizhou was not stingy with his praise. “Not bad. Keep up the hard work.”
Chaochao was dismissive of the praise. He was not a little kid anymore; he would not be fooled by verbal compliments alone. He had goals.
“And then? Is that it? Is there no reward?”
“What reward do you want?”
Upon hearing this, Chaochao’s eyes lit up. “Anything?”
“What do you think?”
Chaochao immediately backed down. He was not afraid of his father; he just wanted to be a good child.
After thinking it over for a while, he said hesitantly, “I want to sleep with you both tonight.”
Bo Yizhou’s movements paused, and he looked at the boy with some surprise. “Why do you suddenly want to sleep with us?”
Had Gu Wancheng said something?
The next second, Chaochao’s words dispelled that thought.
“Suisui said his daddy and mommy often sleep with him, but I have never slept with you both.” The more Chaochao spoke, the more aggrieved he felt.
Bo Yizhou fell silent. His eldest brother and sister-in-law had passed away in an accident when Chaochao was only six months old. Because he was busy, he had not given Chaochao much attention. From a young age, the boy had always slept alone, so he had never considered the child’s feelings.
In Chaochao’s eyes, Bo Yizhou’s silence meant a refusal. The child lowered his head, tugging at the corner of his shirt, and his eyes gradually grew moist.
Bo Yizhou looked at Chaochao’s fluffy head and small figure; he was only four years old.
Finally, he spoke. “Alright, we will sleep together.”
As soon as he said it, his tone shifted. “However, this requires your father’s consent. You know, your father is easily embarrassed.”
Chaochao’s tears, which were about to fall, were held back as he became happy again. Hearing that he needed his father’s consent, he said immediately:
“Daddy will agree. I am going to find him right now!”
After saying that, he immediately went to find Gu Wancheng. Bo Yizhou watched the child’s back and smiled.
