The Salted Fish Transmigrates as a Wealthy Stepdad and Goes Viral on a Parenting Variety Show - Chapter 6
Gu Wancheng: “Wait.”
He swallowed hard and said dryly, “People should not be so competitive.”
“I do not understand what you are talking about. Shuishu said that if I could actually see it, he would promise me one thing.”
So?
Just for that, you did not consider his feelings at all?
“So, what did Shuishu promise you?”
Upon hearing this, the temperature on Chaochao’s face instantly rose. His eyes darted around, and he fidgeted with his hands bashfully.
Gu Wancheng: “Fine.” No need to say more; he already knew.

He stood up and glared at the person beside them who was clearly enjoying the drama. Even if that face was incredibly handsome, he did not want to look at him right now.
Seeing Gu Wancheng about to leave, Chaochao panicked and reached out to pull him back.
“Chaochao.”
A deep voice sounded from behind. Chaochao immediately retracted his hand obediently and cautiously approached Bo Yuzhou, asking, “Father, are you not going to coax Papa?”
Bo Yuzhou gave him a fleeting glance. “Have you finished your homework?”
Since his wife was currently in a state of embarrassed anger, Bo Yuzhou had no intention of provoking him. Instead, he lightheartedly stabbed Chaochao with a reality check.
Chaochao’s eyes widened in disbelief. How could such cold words come out of his father’s mouth? He mumbled something under his breath, not daring to speak up. What should he do? He had not finished his homework.
Bo Yuzhou raised an eyebrow and watched him quietly, waiting for an answer.
Butler Chen shook his head at the sight. Just as Chaochao’s tears were about to fall, the butler could not bear it and stepped forward to rescue him.
“Sir, do you plan to eat at home tonight?”
To Chaochao, these words sounded like a heavenly melody. He looked relieved and was moved to tears of gratitude toward Butler Chen.
Seizing the chance to change the subject, Chaochao tugged at Bo Yuzhou’s hem and shook it gently. “That is right! Father, you have not eaten with me in a long time.”
“I will stay. In the future, I will come back often to accompany you all.” Bo Yuzhou added the last part as an afterthought, intending to see Gu Wancheng. He had to admit that Gu Wancheng had caught his attention. Someone who previously did not even dare to look at him had changed so much in such a short time. However, he was still just as shy.
Bo Yuzhou’s gaze darkened as he recalled the flush on that cold face and the captivating mole at the corner of his eye. He imagined that Gu Wancheng would look even more enticing with tears in his eyes.
“Great! I will go tell Papa!” Chaochao hopped and skipped away from the scene.
Bo Yuzhou watched his figure and said, “Bring your homework to me tonight.”
Chaochao’s cheerful back stiffened. He immediately bolted upstairs. Only after confirming his father was out of sight did he slow down, patting his chest and thinking huffily.
Father is so annoying. He scared me to death. I am not looking forward to his return anymore. As soon as he comes back, he makes me hand in homework. It is so annoying.
Thinking about the small amount of homework he had finished, his mood plummeted. He walked toward his room with a drooping head.
He sat in his chair and opened his workbook. Looking at the arithmetic problems, his head started to ache. His eyes began to spin like whirlpools. He slumped onto the desk in despair, waiting for the “demon’s whisper” from his father that evening.
Suddenly, Chaochao sat bolt upright as if a lightbulb had appeared above his head. He gathered his homework and ran toward the door. He was going to find Papa.
Bang, bang, bang!
“Papa, open the door! It is Chaochao!”
Footsteps approached from inside the room. The door swung open, and Gu Wancheng looked down at the little tot standing at the entrance.
He leaned lightly against the doorframe. “What is it?”
“Doing homework!”
Gu Wancheng arched an eyebrow. “So proactive?”
Chaochao pouted. “Father said I have to give him my homework tonight. I have not finished it, and I do not know how to do it.”
Gu Wancheng found it a bit funny. He bent down, poked Chaochao’s forehead, and pinched his cheeks.
“Whu, what are you doing?” Chaochao’s voice was muffled as his cheeks were pulled.
“Come in. I will teach you.”
“Okay!”
Chaochao squeezed past him. Gu Wancheng stayed in the master bedroom, which was very large and included a small lounge area. After entering, Chaochao ran straight to a table in the lounge and sat on the sofa to open his homework.
Seeing Chaochao’s bright eyes looking at him eagerly, Gu Wancheng walked over and sat beside him. The sofa was very soft and bouncy. As Gu Wancheng sat down, the force sent Chaochao bouncing upward, causing him to tumble sideways onto Gu Wancheng.
Chaochao: Σ(д|||)
Chaochao lay on Gu Wancheng’s lap, looking completely dazed.
A soft chuckle came from above. Chaochao immediately looked up and glared at the person who had laughed.
All you do is laugh. If you were not so heavy, I would not be like this. I will definitely get my revenge when I grow up.
“Cough, my mistake. Come on, do your homework.” Gu Wancheng cleared his throat to stop laughing and redirected the boy’s attention.
Chaochao grunted like a little pig. Fine, for the sake of the homework, he would let the mockery slide just this once.
“Look at this problem.” Gu Wancheng pointed to the first question.
$$7 – 6 + 10 =$$
Chaochao blinked. What was this? He had never done anything like this before.
Seeing his eyes, which were completely untainted by knowledge, Gu Wancheng’s lip twitched. He said helplessly:
“Let us split it into two parts. First, calculate the first part. What is $7 – 6$?”
Chaochao counted on his fingers. After a moment, he looked up and said happily, “It equals one!”
Gu Wancheng nodded and praised him, “Very good. We have the result for the first part. Next is the second part. Since we have the result from the first part, we add it to the second part. So, it is $1 + 10$. Can you understand that?”
Chaochao nodded vigorously. He understood. He really was the smartest kid.
“Then…”
“I know! It equals eleven!”
Before Gu Wancheng could finish, Chaochao raised his hand to answer.
“Good. So the answer to this question is eleven. Very simple, right?”
“Right!”
“The rest of the questions are the same. Do them yourself, Chaochao. Ask me if there is anything you do not understand.”
Chaochao nodded, put his head down, and began writing furiously.
One page of arithmetic had one hundred problems. Chaochao’s task was three pages. He had written one page in the morning, leaving two pages unfinished.
Watching Chaochao work obediently, Gu Wancheng felt a sense of gratification. Children were quite cute when they were not causing trouble.
In the study, Bo Yuzhou was browsing through the files sent by Li Xiao. One file caught his attention.
[Hello Baby]
Bo Yuzhou frowned slightly and sent a message to Li Xiao.
A moment later, Li Xiao replied:
[This is the variety show the Old Madam specially arranged for Mr. Gu and the Young Master. Do you have anything you need to convey to the production team?]
After reading the reply, his brow smoothed out. He had indeed heard his mother mention it before, but he had not paid it much attention. That variety show seemed to be starting in a few days.
His fingers moved as he thought about what to say. Bo Yuzhou decided to consult Gu Wancheng’s opinion first, so he replied:
[Not for now. When does it start?]
[The day after tomorrow.]
[Good.]
Having received the exact time, Bo Yuzhou sent a casual “Good” and clicked on the file.
Knock, knock.
