The Romance Extras Turned Out to Be a Yuri Story - Chapter 60
After going out and paying, Zhang Qiu saw that it was noon.
The two chose a spicy dry pot restaurant.
Lin Luoluo quite liked this kind of food, but she couldn’t handle too much spice, so Zhang Qiu ordered mildly spicy.
She picked out Lin Luoluo’s favorites: konjac shreds, potatoes, seaweed, along with some vegetables and instant noodles.
The two found a table. Zhang Qiu took out a tissue and wiped the table clean, then scalded the bowls and chopsticks to sterilize them, placing them in front of Lin Luoluo. She asked her, “What do you want to drink?”
“Coke, I think!” Lin Luoluo said.
Eating spicy dry pot naturally pairs best with a carbonated drink for happiness!
Zhang Qiu smiled, nodded in agreement, and asked the waiter for a room-temperature Coke, which she placed in front of Lin Luoluo.
Lin Luoluo was tired from shopping and wanted a sip. She twisted the bottle cap for a long time, her small face turning red, but she still couldn’t open it. She shook her hand, and just as she was about to gather her strength to try again, the Coke was suddenly taken away. Zhang Qiu’s slender fingers easily twisted it open.
When Zhang Qiu handed it back to her, Lin Luoluo realized that Zhang Qiu’s hand was much bigger than hers. She stretched out her own hand and compared it with Zhang Qiu’s.
“Your hand is so big!”
“Is it?”
Zhang Qiu spread her palm and loosely grasped Lin Luoluo’s hand. Although both had three finger segments, Zhang Qiu’s fingers were a segment longer than hers.
Lin Luoluo pressed her palm against Zhang Qiu’s.
She spread her fingers and then inserted them into Zhang Qiu’s interdigital spaces.
Zhang Qiu smiled as she watched her play, loosely holding Lin Luoluo’s hand.
The big hand covered the small one.
Lin Luoluo glanced at Zhang Qiu again. Although Zhang Qiu was only a head taller than her, why was her hand so much bigger?
She defiantly flipped Zhang Qiu’s palm over, seemingly delighted to search for the mystery.
“Your spicy dry pot, guests.”
The waiter served the dish, and only then did Lin Luoluo release Zhang Qiu’s hand.
Zhang Qiu’s originally slightly cool fingers had been warmed up by her grip.
The two ate and chatted.
Zhang Qiu asked, “Have you heard of Offer for College Students?”
“That very popular reality show lately?” Lin Luoluo’s eyes lit up.
She loved watching reality TV. The hottest variety show recently was College Students’ Job Search Season, which was about medical students facing various emergencies during their hospital internships, popularizing medical knowledge for the public.
Zhang Qiu nodded and said, “I received an invitation from them and am considering whether to participate in the next season. I wanted to ask for your opinion.”
“Of course, you should join!” Lin Luoluo’s eyes sparkled. “This is a rare opportunity. Just consider it an experience of a different life.”
“Do you really like this show?” Zhang Qiu looked at Lin Luoluo with a smile in her eyes, finding her enthusiasm quite adorable.
Lin Luoluo tilted her head and said, “Because you get to see a different side of other professions, and I find it very interesting.”
She suddenly reacted and asked, “Is the next season going to focus on the legal profession?”
The production team hadn’t demanded secrecy, so Zhang Qiu nodded.
“But I don’t have a professional background, and I feel like I won’t get very far if I participate.”
The interns would compete and be eliminated.
“Then you still won’t lose out, will you?” Lin Luoluo comforted her. “You have an economics background, so in economic cases, their expertise might not compare to yours.”
Zhang Qiu thought that was a valid point.
Lin Luoluo said playfully, “Please join. I want to see you on TV.”
Zhang Qiu had originally wanted to consider it further, because she was thinking that once she joined the show, people would pay attention to her. They would want to know her life experiences, and even her relationship status, and Zhang Qiu didn’t want to lie.
She also didn’t feel that her relationship was something that needed to be kept secret.
But seeing Lin Luoluo so excited, her cheeks flushed with anticipation, she said softly, “Okay.”
She was always unwilling to let Lin Luoluo down. She wanted her to be happy every day, a carefree little princess in an ivory tower.
Lin Luoluo immediately asked, “When will the show air?”
Zhang Qiu shook her head. She didn’t know anything yet. The production team had only sent the invitation and hadn’t told her the recording time. They would probably only notify her after she confirmed her participation.
Zhang Qiu smiled, “If there’s a live recording, how about I invite you to be a guest?”
Lin Luoluo immediately agreed excitedly.
After eating, the two had bought so many things that they couldn’t shop anymore. Zhang Qiu originally wanted to call a taxi, but Lin Luoluo refused and held her hand, saying, “My driver is here.”
Zhang Qiu didn’t pretend to be modest and agreed immediately.
It was indeed inconvenient to take a taxi with so many bags.
Once in the car, Lin Luoluo felt a bit sleepy.
She had been thinking about today’s date all night yesterday, so she woke up early in her excitement without sleeping much. She was also focused on making breakfast for Zhang Qiu, clumsily asking the auntie for advice for a long time.
Resting her head on Zhang Qiu’s shoulder, sleepiness kept creeping in.
Lin Luoluo mumbled, “Why is the time so short?”
Yes, a brief time together and then separation again.
Zhang Qiu brushed aside the stray hair on Lin Luoluo’s forehead and whispered, “Sleep.”
Lin Luoluo gradually fell into sleep, but even while asleep, her hand was still tightly grasping Zhang Qiu’s wrist, as if afraid she would leave.
Zhang Qiu wasn’t sleepy.
Her sleep schedule was very healthy.
She looked out the window. The warm sunlight seemed to melt the pedestrians on the street.
Summer was coming soon.
Zhang Qiu narrowed her eyes. She would be graduating soon too.
When Lin Luoluo was woken up, she was still a little dazed. Zhang Qiu’s voice was soft: “We’re at your school.”
Lin Luoluo rubbed against Zhang Qiu, reluctant to get up, and subconsciously reached for the scenery near her lips, only to have her entire face covered by Zhang Qiu’s hand.
“I have to get off now. Text me when you get home.”
Lin Luoluo pouted to show her dissatisfaction.
Zhang Qiu smiled watching her pout, and suddenly said, “I have a gift for you.”
Lin Luoluo’s eyes widened in surprise.
When did she buy a gift? Weren’t they together all day today?
Zhang Qiu turned around, pulled a lip balm from her bag, and placed it in Lin Luoluo’s palm, saying, “I noticed you use it often. Your usual stick ran out, right? I bought the exact brand you use.”
Lin Luoluo looked down at the lip balm, her eyes getting moist.
She hadn’t expected Zhang Qiu to pay attention to such small details.
Her lips were always dry and peeling, which is why Lin Luoluo habitually used the lip balm. The brand she used was a very niche foreign one, not sold in the country, and she wondered how Zhang Qiu had managed to get it.
She grabbed Zhang Qiu’s sleeve, and when she looked up again, Lin Luoluo’s eyes were sparkling like the starry river in the sky.
In that moment, Zhang Qiu wanted to kiss her.
She restrained herself.
Taking the lip balm from Lin Luoluo, Zhang Qiu tore off the packaging box and said hoarsely, “Your lips are very dry.”
Twisting the cap open, Zhang Qiu lifted Lin Luoluo’s chin and meticulously applied the balm, as if she were painting.
Lin Luoluo’s heart was pounding, her face was flushed, and her heartbeat felt like a wobbling spring.
Zhang Qiu’s eyes were dark. When they met her gaze, Lin Luoluo’s erratic heartbeat felt like it had jumped onto a trampoline.
“All done.” Zhang Qiu closed the cap of the lip balm, picked up her things, and got out of the car.
Lin Luoluo leaned out the car window, watching her walk away. The driver started the car and smiled, saying, “Miss, you and your friend have such a good relationship.”
Looking down at the warm lip balm in her hand, Lin Luoluo softly hummed in agreement.
She reached up to touch her face.
Her cheeks were burning hot. Lin Luoluo lowered her head and covered her face with both hands.
They hadn’t even kissed, yet it felt more intense than a kiss.
She returned home to an empty house.
Her parents were out of town on business and wouldn’t be back for a few more days, and her brother was working overtime, saying he’d be very late. Lin Luoluo collapsed onto the bed, picked up her phone, and considered calling Zhang Qiu, but then wondered if she was being too clingy, as they had just parted.
She rolled around on the bed a few times, bored.
Even the variety show she usually loved to watch couldn’t pass the time.
Lin Luoluo lifted her arm to cover her eyes, and the moment she closed them, her mind was filled with Zhang Qiu’s eyes.
They were like an abyss that would consume a person, luring her to willingly fall into it.
Yet they were also like a star in the dark night, making one want to climb high and pluck it.
“Miss, I’ve washed some fruit, would you like to eat some?” Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. Lin Luoluo immediately sat up, her chest feeling hot. She pulled her shirt open to fan herself, and tried hard to compose her face: “Come in.”
The housekeeper put the fruit down and left.
Lin Luoluo popped a cherry into her mouth.
She lay back on the bed, unlocked her phone screen, hesitantly slid past Zhang Qiu’s profile picture, then opened their chat history. The last message was ten minutes ago; she had said she was home, and Zhang Qiu had replied with “Mm.”
Jiejie must be busy too, right?
Lin Luoluo rolled over, chewing the cherry in her mouth.
It was impossible for her to spend all her time with her.
She should give Jiejie some space.
Thinking this, Lin Luoluo spat out the cherry pit, and then her face drooped in frustration.
But it had only been half an hour since they separated, and she was already starting to miss Jiejie.
Lin Luoluo opened the post she had made on her social media yesterday, zooming in to look closely at Zhang Qiu.
Jiejie had liked it at some point.
Lin Luoluo’s finger stroked the screen, accidentally exiting the zoomed-in view.
She tossed her phone aside, turned over, and buried her face in the pillow, keeping it there until she was slightly short of breath before flipping over again.
Forget it, I’ll call anyway!
Having made up her mind to “bother” Zhang Qiu, her finger had just touched the phone when it started to ring.
Lin Luoluo’s heart skipped a beat, accelerating sharply. She had a strange premonition—this call must be from Jiejie!
She flipped open the phone to look.
The caller ID clearly displayed Zhang Qiu.
Lin Luoluo grinned happily like a mouse that had stolen honey. She answered the phone and said reservedly, “Jiejie, did you miss me? But we only just parted half an hour ago!”
Zhang Qiu laughed on the other end, “Yes, I missed you.”
“Jiejie is so clingy,” Lin Luoluo couldn’t help the upward curve of her lips.
Zhang Qiu asked, “Then don’t you miss me?”
“I do,” Lin Luoluo lowered her voice.
“I’m going to the library tomorrow to write my thesis. Do you want to come?” Zhang Qiu extended the invitation.
What kind of university students had a date studying at the library?!
Yet Lin Luoluo smiled and agreed, “Okay.”
“I’ll keep Jiejie company while you write your thesis, and Jiejie can keep me company while I study.”
Zhang Qiu said with a pampering tone, “I’ll take you somewhere in the afternoon. Remember to wear flat shoes.”
Lin Luoluo nodded in agreement.
The call ended, but a video call immediately started.
Zhang Qiu was studying on her side, and Lin Luoluo got her laptop to watch a variety show. Afraid of disturbing Zhang Qiu, she wore headphones. However, even though the show was exciting, it couldn’t fully capture Lin Luoluo’s attention; the other side was what truly distracted and concerned her.
She kept looking, her gaze shifting to the phone screen, where Zhang Qiu was studying seriously.
Lin Luoluo knew her study load was heavy; she had to take the national bar exam in the second half of the year.
She had to intern every day, come back to work overtime reviewing case files in the evening, and still find time to study. It was already difficult for her to carve out time to spend with her.
She stared blankly at the phone, while the people in her headphones laughed and joked.
Zhang Qiu finished a section of her study, turned her head, and realized Lin Luoluo was watching her. She leaned closer to the screen and asked, “What are you looking at?”
Her beautiful face filled the entire screen. Lin Luoluo came back to her senses, her cheeks slightly red, and she whispered, “A serious Jiejie is so handsome.”
So cool that she couldn’t take her eyes off her.
Zhang Qiu’s eyes curved into a smile, and she chuckled, “Luoluo is very cute too.”
It was just a polite compliment, yet it made Lin Luoluo’s face even redder.
Lin Luoluo sat on her chair, hugged her knees, and buried her face in them, leaving only a fluffy head visible.
Zhang Qiu rested her chin on her hand, watching the screen. Suddenly, she felt lucky that she had chosen Longhai University; otherwise, she would never have met someone this cute.
