The Romance Extras Turned Out to Be a Yuri Story - Chapter 59
The hot pot restaurant was lively, the steam unable to dampen people’s enthusiasm for eating.
Lin Xiangdong dropped shrimp, sea snails, and some oysters into the pot. The oysters were retrieved after just a few dips, and he urged the two girls to eat quickly.
Lin Luoluo was a slow eater and was currently struggling with a shrimp. The large shrimp had been boiled bright red, making her fingertips rosy as she peeled it. After eating one, she didn’t bother to peel any more and picked up other, easier-to-eat items from the pot.
Lin Xiangdong ate a huge amount in a confused frenzy. It was hard to imagine how his mouth managed it; Lin Luoluo and Zhang Qiu had only just started eating when his plate was already piled high with shells, and after a few chomps, the pot was empty.
Lin Luoluo looked at Lin Xiangdong with a slight distaste. Lin Xiangdong was overheated from eating and went to the counter to grab a bottle of iced drink. He asked the two girls if they wanted one, but they both declined.
Lin Luoluo was staring blankly at the food in the pot when a bowl of large, peeled shrimp suddenly appeared in front of her. Zhang Qiu took off her disposable gloves and said, “Eat. I peeled them for you.”
Zhang Qiu stirred the congee base with a ladle to prevent it from sticking to the bottom, then scooped two abalones into Lin Luoluo’s bowl.
Lin Luoluo’s face flushed slightly. She lowered her head and ate the shrimp one mouthful at a time, like a chick pecking at grain. Lin Xiangdong, who had finished half a bottle of his drink, started to blanch meat again. He looked at the large shrimp in Lin Luoluo’s bowl and wondered, “Why don’t I get this kind of service? Can’t you, stinky sister, move a finger and serve your brother just a little?”
Lin Luoluo rolled her eyes at him, and before Lin Xiangdong’s chopsticks could reach her, she swallowed the last shrimp in her bowl.
Lin Xiangdong shook his head and lamented her cruelty—there were so many shrimp, what was the harm in letting him have just one?
Lin Luoluo was unwilling. These were peeled by her older sister, and they were exclusively hers!
After all the playful banter and eating, they were finally full. They added rice to the pot, along with some Chinese kale and other greens, and let it simmer until thick—the congee was ready.
The congee base, which had cooked dried scallops and dried shrimp, was incredibly delicious. The rice was soft and well-cooked. Lin Luoluo drank two small bowls before finally letting out a satisfied burp.
Zhang Qiu didn’t eat much either, and the rest of the leftovers were finished off entirely by Lin Xiangdong.
After the three of them finished eating, they walked around outside for a while to cool off. Lin Xiangdong asked, “Can we finally go home now?”
Lin Luoluo secretly hooked her hand into Zhang Qiu’s, looking reluctant to leave. Zhang Qiu felt it too, but still said softly, “See you tomorrow.”
Lin Luoluo immediately understood what she meant, and her mouth jutted out so much you could hang a bottle on it. Seeing this, Zhang Qiu opened her arms and gave Lin Luoluo a gentle hug. Lin Luoluo felt a little glum.
Zhang Qiu said, “It’s late. Go home early.”
Lin Luoluo looked at her, and Zhang Qiu gently ruffled her hair.
“Good night.”
She felt a mix of happiness and deep reluctance.
“Come on, she’s gone, stop staring,” Lin Xiangdong said.
Lin Luoluo sighed.
Lin Xiangdong drove her home.
Their parents were away on a business trip and weren’t home. The housekeeper, Auntie, came out when she heard them, asking if they had eaten. Lin Luoluo replied that they had. Auntie took the roses from her, placed them in a beautiful vase, and put them in her room.
Lin Xiangdong immediately collapsed onto the sofa and started busy sending messages on his phone. Seeing that he was busy, Lin Luoluo went upstairs to change clothes first.
She sent Zhang Qiu a message to say she was home and that she was going to take a shower as she had sweated a little. When she returned, there was a new message on her phone.
Zhang Qiu: [What time should we meet tomorrow?]
Lin Luoluo quickly replied: [Nine AM near Shimao Plaza.]
[Okay.] Zhang Qiu replied: [Sleep early. See you tomorrow.]
[See you tomorrow.]
Lin Luoluo lay in bed, her eyes catching sight of the roses on the nightstand, which made her feel shy for a moment. Then she scrolled up through her chat history and saw the photo Zhang Qiu had sent.
She thought for a moment, pasted a dog-head sticker over her brother’s head in the photo, and then secretively posted it on her Moments.
[The moon and me.]
Zhang Qiu was her moon.
Someone quickly liked the post. Lin Luoluo opened it to see it was Sang Jing.
She received another message, and Sang Jing clicked her tongue in appreciation: [Just got back from a date with the Female Lead?]
Lin Luoluo sent an ‘you know it’ expression pack.
Sang Jing laughed heartily: [Any progress on the date?]
Lin Luoluo sent a shy expression.
Sang Jing gave her a thumbs-up.
After chatting for a long time, they finally got to the main topic.
Sang Jing said: [I’m being discharged tomorrow and moving back to the Gu family. I’ll let you know when I have news.]
[Okay, thanks.] Lin Luoluo replied.
[Don’t forget to send me wedding candy when the mission is accomplished!] Sang Jing said.
[It’s not like we’re getting married.]
[To celebrate you and the Female Lead taking a step further, isn’t terminating the engagement the beginning of the next step?]
Lin Luoluo remembered what Zhang Qiu had said tonight, and her heart skipped a beat.
She said she would wait for her.
Her face flushed, and she rolled around in bed a few times before replying to Sang Jing’s message: [Alright.]
The next day, Lin Luoluo woke up very early, at the same time as Lin Xiangdong, who was going to work overtime.
Lin Xiangdong looked up at the wall clock and thought the sun must have risen from the west, or why else would Lin Luoluo be up so early?
Lin Luoluo had applied her makeup and put together her outfit early. To reduce the puffiness on her face, she even specially brewed a cup of black coffee.
It was so bitter that her brow furrowed when she drank it. The uncomfortable expression made Auntie, the housekeeper, comment, “Isn’t that just Chinese medicine?”
This made Lin Luoluo laugh. Auntie prepared some dessert for her to soothe her throat from the bitter coffee. Lin Luoluo didn’t dare to eat too much. She timed it just right and had the driver take her to Shimao Plaza (Shimao Festival City/Shimao International Plaza).
Lin Xiangdong hadn’t left yet when she walked out the door. He was puzzled and commented, “Why are you so dressed up, like you’re going on a date?”
Lin Luoluo ignored him. It totally is a date, she thought.
Lin Luoluo had made a point to leave early, but to her surprise, Zhang Qiu had arrived before her.
Zhang Qiu was wearing a white T-shirt under a blue shirt, jeans, and a pair of sneakers. The casual outfit, worn by her, somehow carried an air of effortless, relaxed style. It might have been because of her height and slender figure. As her long, delicate fingers gripped the coffee cup, she naturally exuded a fashion sense that transcended others.
It was clearly just an ordinary shirt.
Yet, it highlighted her broad shoulders and narrow waist. Her long legs were casually crossed. Zhang Qiu was looking down at her phone, her loose long hair draped, covering half of her profile, which only made her more alluring.
“Hi!”
Lin Luoluo suddenly jumped out and patted Zhang Qiu on the shoulder.
Zhang Qiu turned her head, put down her coffee, and casually tucked her long hair behind her ear. “Why are you here so early?”
“Look who’s talking! Aren’t you here even earlier, Sister?” Lin Luoluo sat down across from her.
“There are only three buses from the school area to Shimao Plaza in the morning. I was afraid of being late, so I came early. It gave me a chance to handle some work.”
Zhang Qiu looked at her. Her hair was tied into two low pigtails, adorned with many cute hair clips. Her rosy face looked round and lovely. She was wearing a yellow short jumpsuit over a green short-sleeved shirt, looking incredibly adorable.
Lin Luoluo took a sandwich from her fluffy backpack and handed it to Zhang Qiu. Her cheeks were even pinker as she looked down and asked, “You haven’t eaten yet, have you, Sister?”
Zhang Qiu shook her head.
Lin Luoluo had mentioned she’d bring her breakfast.
Once they arrived, however, Zhang Qiu had only ordered a cup of coffee.
Zhang Qiu looked down at the sandwich in her hand. Lin Luoluo urged, “Sister, eat quickly!”
She glanced at Lin Luoluo, who looked a little anxious: “Hurry and try it.”
Zhang Qiu thoughtfully opened the wrapper and took a bite. Inside the sandwich were bacon, egg, ham, and greens, along with cheese.
The egg was a bit too fishy, the cheese too sweet, the ham greasy, and the bread was toasted dry. The rest was alright, though.
Zhang Qiu finished the sandwich without changing her expression, leaving none for Lin Luoluo.
Lin Luoluo watched her eat heartily with wide, earnest eyes and asked, “Is it good?”
“It’s delicious.” After finishing, Zhang Qiu quickly drained the entire cup of coffee to wash down the fishy taste of the egg.
Lin Luoluo blushed. “If it’s good, I’ll make it for you again next time.”
Lin Luoluo had spent the entire morning busy preparing this.
“Good.” Zhang Qiu put down her cup and smiled at Lin Luoluo.
Shopping Trip
The two left the café. Lin Luoluo knew Zhang Qiu needed to buy some professional attire because her old clothes were a bit outdated.
They strolled around the mall. Zhang Qiu didn’t say anything when she saw that the price tags on the clothing brands were easily in the four digits, and she tried on clothes when Lin Luoluo asked her to.
Lin Luoluo was acting like she was dressing up a doll, thinking everything Zhang Qiu wore looked great. But once the excitement passed, she realized Zhang Qiu hadn’t bought a single item.
It suddenly dawned on her that the prices here at Shimao Plaza were very high, likely unaffordable for Zhang Qiu.
The Lin family owned shares here, so Lin Luoluo frequently came to buy clothes without needing to worry about the cost; she just bought whatever she liked. She had completely forgotten that her older sister didn’t have that much money.
She cautiously watched Zhang Qiu’s expression. Zhang Qiu wasn’t angry; she was still looking at the suit set Lin Luoluo had just pointed out.
That was a light green pantsuit, which perfectly complemented Zhang Qiu’s cool, fair skin.
Lin Luoluo had originally liked it and wanted to buy it for Zhang Qiu but hesitated and kept quiet.
Zhang Qiu said, “I just need to buy black ones.”
Lin Luoluo quickly agreed, “Right, black looks more professional. We don’t need this one.”
Zhang Qiu smiled at her, and the two went to buy a bubble tea.
Zhang Qiu asked, “You looked quite satisfied with the outfit you tried on earlier. Why didn’t you buy it?”
While Zhang Qiu was trying on clothes, Lin Luoluo had also tried one on. There was a top she really liked, but seeing that Zhang Qiu didn’t buy anything, she didn’t purchase it either.
Remembering that the top alone cost five figures, Lin Luoluo said sheepishly, “I suddenly remembered I have a similar one at home, so let’s forget it. By the way, where do you usually buy your clothes, Sister? Can I go check it out?”
Zhang Qiu’s smile grew even gentler.
“It’s nearby. I’ll take you.”
They took a small path around Shimao Plaza, and further down was a clothing wholesale market. It turned out there was a shopping center hidden behind the main plaza.
Zhang Qiu led Lin Luoluo through it like a regular. The place resembled the clothing markets found near university towns, where large bulk purchases were carried out in sacks. Zhang Qiu went straight to a custom suit shop and bought several outfits for only a few hundred yuan.
She went into the fitting room and changed into a white shirt and a suit jacket. The collar was open, with two buttons undone, revealing a stretch of her long, delicate collarbone and a very fine silver chain around her neck. Her long hair was sensually draped over her shoulders. She came out and asked Lin Luoluo, “Is this one good?”
Lin Luoluo nodded, licked her lips, and asked, “Can I go inside and try clothes with you, Sister?”
Zhang Qiu was taken aback for a moment. Meeting Lin Luoluo’s gaze, she unconsciously parted her lips and said yes.
Lin Luoluo pretended to grab a piece of clothing, then eagerly darted into the fitting room. She quickly pulled the curtain shut, stood on her tiptoes, and bit Zhang Qiu’s lip.
Sister looks too good in a suit, and it made her heart pound.
Zhang Qiu gripped Lin Luoluo’s waist, braced one hand against the wall, and lowered her head to kiss her.
The space was tiny, and the oxygen quickly grew thin. Lin Luoluo’s legs went soft, and she nearly fell, only to be stabilized by Zhang Qiu’s long leg hooking around her.
Lin Luoluo buried her face in Zhang Qiu’s chest and rubbed against it, then lifted her head to lick at her collarbone like a puppy.
Zhang Qiu held her head still and said hoarsely, “Stop fooling around.”
It seemed like someone had just entered outside, possibly looking to try on clothes.
Zhang Qiu held down the curtain and whispered, “I’ll be quick.”
Lin Luoluo muffled a giggle and quietly said, “I haven’t tried on my clothes yet.”
“That one doesn’t suit you.”
Zhang Qiu lifted her slightly and handed the jacket hanging on the wall back to Lin Luoluo. Lin Luoluo looked down and realized she had randomly grabbed a neon pink jacket.
Her cheeks were slightly flushed, and Zhang Qiu lifted her chin to give her another kiss.
“I’ve made my choice. No more trying on clothes.”
