The Romance Extras Turned Out to Be a Yuri Story - Chapter 58
What was supposed to be a date for two now had a third wheel, but Lin Xiangdong was completely unaware.
When Zhang Qiu came downstairs, Lin Luoluo was unsure whether to hold her hand or not.
With her brother present, both of them felt a bit awkward and wondered if they should avoid being too intimate.
However, given Lin Xiangdong’s dense nature, he probably wouldn’t realize they were currently in an ambiguous relationship.
Lin Luoluo steadied herself, focused on Zhang Qiu’s hand, and swiftly clasped it.
Zhang Qiu lowered her eyelids, a faint smile playing on her lips.
“What do you two want to eat?”
Lin Xiangdong was tallying up their late-night snack options. “Want barbecue or hotpot?”
“Brother, aren’t you in a hurry to go home?” Lin Luoluo tried to shoo him away.
“There’s no one home anyway. You’re not going back, and I’d be alone if I did, so I might as well keep you company.”
Who needed his company?
Lin Luoluo glared, and Zhang Qiu leaned down to ask, “What do you want to eat?”
Lin Luoluo considered it. “Could we have some congee?”
Lin Luoluo didn’t care for meat, and eating something so oily late at night wasn’t appealing; a lighter meal would be easier on the stomach.
Zhang Qiu had no objection, but the carnivorous Lin Xiangdong stared blankly.
“Just that?”
“Well, are you eating or not?” Lin Luoluo huffed. “If not, then go home.”
Lin Xiangdong wore a bitter face. “I promised to treat you guys, so congee it is.”
They found a seafood congee restaurant where you could first blanch seafood in rice water before using the rice base to cook the congee. Since the next day was the weekend, the restaurant was packed.
Lin Xiangdong went to get a number for a table. Lin Luoluo held the flowers and, holding Zhang Qiu’s hand, looked left and right.
Zhang Qiu paid attention to the passing people, carefully turning sideways to shield the petite Lin Luoluo from being bumped.
While Lin Xiangdong was still communicating the table number with the server, Lin Luoluo was drawn by the lively atmosphere in the distance.
There seemed to be a bar nearby hosting an event, with a band performing on a stage set up outside the entrance.
Lin Luoluo loved excitement and was always drawn to where the action was.
She shouted loudly to Lin Xiangdong, “Brother, let’s go listen to the band up front!”
Lin Xiangdong heard her and waved his hand dismissively.
Lin Luoluo pulled Zhang Qiu and darted toward the area. As they squeezed into the crowd, the band was about to start the next song. The host announced, “Tonight, come inside and get 50% off all drinks! Lights up! Let’s get wild! The next song is dedicated to lovers everywhere! May all couples find happiness! Don’t go away! After the song ends, when the lights stop, the guests they shine on will win a small gift from the house! If you’re a couple, you’ll win the ultimate grand prize!”
“How deep is your love…”
“And how much of my heart is yours…”
The band’s lazy jazz female voice on stage was beautiful. Lin Luoluo enjoyed the performance quietly. After the song finished, she thought Lin Xiangdong must be done with the number, and was pulling Zhang Qiu to leave when the flickering lights suddenly stopped, shining right on Lin Luoluo and Zhang Qiu.
“You two ladies right there, don’t leave, you’ve won!” the host yelled from the stage.
Lin Luoluo turned around. The lights were blinding, and Zhang Qiu raised her hand to shield Lin Luoluo. The surrounding crowd parted like the Red Sea, creating a path.
“Hurry up and come claim your prize.” The host urged again.
Lin Luoluo pointed at herself with a look of confusion. The host laughed, “Yes, the curly-haired lady holding the flowers.”
The people around them also laughed, “Hurry and go claim the prize.”
Lin Luoluo, embarrassed, took Zhang Qiu’s hand and went up on stage.
She was still holding the bouquet of roses close to her chest, which made her look even more vibrant and lovely.
The host teased, “You can’t even let go of each other on stage. Are you two, by any chance, a couple?”
Lin Luoluo’s face flushed. In her nervousness, she forgot to let go, and instead, her hand was gripped tightly by Zhang Qiu.
Seeing that they didn’t speak, the host changed the subject to avoid an awkward silence. “We have a small gift for you.”
A staff member nearby brought over the gift—a one-hundred-yuan stored value card.
The host picked it up and said, “This card can be used for a free purchase inside the bar.”
He smiled and handed it to Lin Luoluo. With one hand holding the flowers and the other held by Zhang Qiu, she signaled with her eyes for Zhang Qiu to take it. Just as Zhang Qiu was about to reach out, the host suddenly pulled his hand back, suppressing a laugh, and said, “Although I know it’s probably not the case, I still have to ask the customary question. Are the two of you a couple? If you are, and you kiss on stage, you’ll win our ultimate grand prize! A three-day luxury cruise trip! Including round-trip airfare!”
“Kiss! Kiss!” the crowd below started chanting. “That’s a great deal!”
Lin Luoluo and Zhang Qiu looked at each other, the shyness in their eyes almost spilling over.
Zhang Qiu stepped forward, shielding Lin Luoluo behind her, and said, “We don’t want it.”
She then pulled Lin Luoluo to get off the stage.
The host, seeing that he had flustered them, quickly tried to smooth things over. “The two ladies have won our hundred-yuan gift card! Let’s continue with the performance!”
A staff member below slipped the gift card into their hands. Zhang Qiu led Lin Luoluo away from the chaotic crowd, standing behind a large promotional stand. The wide stand blocked the view of the surrounding people. Zhang Qiu let go of her hand, tucked the gift card into Lin Luoluo’s bag, and then gently pushed the stray hair away from her eyes, saying softly, “Your brother should have the table ready now.”
Lin Luoluo’s eyes flickered.
Zhang Qiu took the bouquet from her hands and held her hand to walk forward. Lin Luoluo glanced around, then suddenly pulled Zhang Qiu’s hand back. Zhang Qiu turned around, and Luoluo’s lips brushed hers in a fleeting kiss, making Lin Luoluo’s voice tremble with nervousness.
“After I break off my engagement, will you be my girlfriend, Sister?”
She had wanted to say this for a long time.
Just now, when the host asked if they were a couple, Lin Luoluo desperately wanted to tell him proudly.
They were.
But Lin Luoluo didn’t dare.
She felt shy, she felt timid.
Yet, standing here, she yearned for an answer.
A vague beginning would lead to an uncertain end.
Lin Luoluo couldn’t remember where she had read that, but she was terrified that their relationship would just fade away without resolution.
In this vast sea of people, crossing time and space, it was so difficult, and she didn’t want to let go just like that.
“Silly girl.” Zhang Qiu bent down, her voice gentle.
“I am already yours.”
“When the day comes that you end your engagement, confess to me.”
“I’m already prepared to be your girlfriend.”
“I will wait for you.”
Lin Luoluo smiled foolishly. She threw herself into Zhang Qiu’s embrace. “I love you,” she whispered.
“I love you too.” Zhang Qiu raised her arms to prevent the flowers from being crushed. Her voice was soft, like the wind, wrapping around Lin Luoluo with lingering affection. Lin Luoluo was overjoyed, feeling as though she heard the sound of flowers blooming in early spring.
“Where did you two run off to? The table’s ready. The waiter cleared the area just for you two.” Lin Xiangdong, impatient, called them.
“Okay, we’re coming.” Lin Luoluo replied, hanging up the phone, still giggling foolishly.
Zhang Qiu shook her head helplessly, pinching her cheek. “If you keep smiling, your face will cramp up.”
“I’m happy,” Lin Luoluo said, her cheeks rosy, her tone intimate. “Aren’t you happy, Sister?”
“I’m happy too,” Zhang Qiu replied.
Lin Luoluo was led by Zhang Qiu the whole way, so engrossed in looking at Zhang Qiu that she didn’t notice the person they were walking toward.
“Senior?” Fang Duo looked at the two of them in surprise.
Zhang Qiu nodded at her.
Seeing their tightly clasped hands, Fang Duo frowned, “Why are you still bothering Senior? Senior has nothing you need here.”
Lin Luoluo looked at Fang Duo vigilantly.
Fang Duo was angered by her look and couldn’t be bothered with Lin Luoluo. Fang Duo asked, “Senior, how is your internship unit? Last time at the student union meeting, the teacher even asked about you, saying it was a pity you weren’t going into finance.”
Zhang Qiu said flatly, “This was a decision I thought through deeply. Tell the teacher thank you for his care these past few years.”
Fang Duo nodded, then couldn’t help but urge, “Senior, can I speak to you alone for a few words?”
Zhang Qiu said to Lin Luoluo, “I’ll be right back.”
After all, they had been acquainted for two years, and Zhang Qiu wasn’t completely heartless.
The two walked to the side, and Fang Duo said, “Senior, although I know what I’m about to say is overstepping, this is your business after all, but I feel I still have to tell you—you and Lin Luoluo are not on the same path. Today, the young miss is in the mood to play best friends with you, but maybe one day she’ll turn against you. The President hasn’t forgotten you. If she decides to go after you, you’re so unguarded that she could hurt you, and you wouldn’t have any means to fight back.”
“Gu Beichen and I broke up a long time ago,” Zhang Qiu said. “Thank you for your concern, but there’s nothing complicated between her and me like you think.”
Fang Duo looked at Zhang Qiu in confusion.
Zhang Qiu glanced at the girl waiting for her not far away, and her tone softened, “I think I’ve fallen in love with her.”
Fang Duo was stunned, stammering after a moment, “D-Did I mishear just now?”
Zhang Qiu looked deeply at Fang Duo, “You didn’t mishear.”
Fang Duo was silent.
Isn’t Lin Luoluo going to get engaged to the President? Then her Senior is now a love rival of the President?
She was shocked by this relationship dynamic and remained speechless for a long time.
Zhang Qiu didn’t wait for Fang Duo to process it, saying to her, “I’m leaving now.”
Fang Duo stared blankly at their closely knit figures walking away, her usually logical mind crashing.
Is Senior a lesbian? But she used to have a boyfriend, and such an outstanding man as the President—how could she be a lesbian?
And does Miss Lin know Senior’s feelings?
Isn’t Lin Luoluo going to get engaged to the President?
She heard that Lin Luoluo had been pursuing the President for over ten years.
Now, Fang Duo felt sorry for Lin Luoluo instead.
Does the young Miss Lin truly know that Senior harbors such unusual feelings?
They met again at the seafood porridge hot pot place. Lin Luoluo went to the self-serve area to get food and bumped into Fang Duo, who was having dinner with her friends. Meeting Fang Duo’s strange, sympathetic gaze, Lin Luoluo returned to her seat utterly perplexed.
She secretly asked Zhang Qiu, “What did you tell Fang Duo? Why was she looking at me so strangely?”
Zhang Qiu said calmly, “I just told her about our relationship.”
“Ah?!” Lin Luoluo exclaimed in shock, quickly covering her mouth. Fortunately, Lin Xiangdong was away getting food, or he would definitely chase her for an explanation about why she was surprised.
“What did you say?”
“I said I’m in love with you.”
“She accepted it?”
“That’s my business, isn’t it?”
Lin Luoluo took a long time to digest this, then whispered, “Nonsense.”
“It’s clearly me who’s in love with you.”
Zhang Qiu smiled at her. Lin Luoluo watched her eyes curve, her face showing a rare, gentle smile, and her heart skipped a beat.
The atmosphere was gradually turning intimate when Lin Xiangdong suddenly shouted loudly from the front, “Help! I can’t carry it all!”
Darn smelly brother! A bright, obnoxious third wheel!
Lin Luoluo cursed him in her heart while ungraciously stepping up to help carry a few plates, “If you can’t carry it, eat less. Why do you insist on taking so much?”
Lin Xiangdong put down his load and breathed a sigh of relief, “There are too many people. If you wait, it might be gone when you want to eat. Hurry up and thank your brother!”
Lin Luoluo twitched her mouth and smacked her smelly brother.
Lin Xiangdong got smacked for no reason and puzzledly asked, “Why are you angry again? You girls are really hard to deal with.”
Lin Luoluo stared at him expressionlessly. Lin Xiangdong raised his hands again and said, “I was wrong.”
Zhang Qiu laughed and picked up her phone, “Want to take a picture?”
Lin Luoluo sat next to her, and Lin Xiangdong shamelessly stood behind them. They captured a photo with commemorative significance.
After the picture, they started the porridge base hot pot.
Zhang Qiu sent the photo to Lin Luoluo, adding a message.
【We will create many more memories that belong to us in the future.】
Lin Luoluo read it and put down her phone.
Although her sister doesn’t say sweet nothings, every word is more touching than a love confession. She was comforting Lin Luoluo that even though the memories on her old phone were lost, new memories would flood in—and they would be their exclusive, sweet memories.
Lin Luoluo curled up the corner of her mouth, secretly tugged on the hem of Zhang Qiu’s clothes under the table, and whispered “Okay.”
