The Pursuit of Love After Divorcing My Cold Omega - Chapter 48
Strange pheromones… they smell terrible.
“Yu Kunian.” Yu Dai seemed to be suppressing her anger. She refused to look in Yu Kunian’s direction, and her voice even sounded as calm as water, yet Yu Kunian could still sense the underlying fury. “Are you certain you want to marry her?”
The last time they met, they had a fierce argument. Today, Yu Dai did not want to make things worse.
Yu Kunian stood firmly in place, speaking with a composed air. “Mother, you were the one who wanted me to get married.”
Yu Dai remained silent, but Yang Jin came over to pull at her, whispering softly, “Niannian, we can understand that you’re acting out of spite. We truly didn’t consider things thoroughly last time, but in reality, it didn’t have much of an impact, so don’t hold onto it anymore. Marriage is not something to be rushed into. An Omega with no background—this marriage will not be of any help to you.”
Yu Kunian avoided Yang Jin’s touch. “I don’t need any help.” The Alpha’s expression darkened slightly, her brows furrowing. “I never said I needed a political marriage to stabilize the company.”
“But…” Yang Jin withdrew her hand dejectedly. “Niannian, you must understand that a business marriage is absolutely beneficial for you and for Zhaoming Biotech. You are young now and don’t value these things, but we must plan for the long-term development of the company. Otherwise, if an accident happens one day, what will we do?”
“Mom, am I more important,” Yu Kunian looked at her, “or is the company more important?”
Yang Jin froze for a moment before saying, “Niannian, of course Mom thinks you are important, but isn’t the company also a part of you?”
Yu Kunian said, “Marriage isn’t a good thing for me, because I don’t want to be like you—still just colleagues after getting married.”
As soon as these words were spoken, the atmosphere froze instantly. Perhaps neither Yang Jin nor Yu Dai expected Yu Kunian to say such a thing. Unable to endure it any longer, Yu Dai slammed the water glass in her hand onto the coffee table with a “bang.” She stood up and questioned sharply:
“Yu Kunian, what nonsense are you talking about?”
“Is it not the truth?” Yu Kunian’s gaze met Yu Dai’s. She was not intimidated by Yu Dai and remained as confrontational as ever, but she clearly did not want to argue too much today. “You are welcome to attend the wedding, as long as you don’t cause trouble.”
Having said that, Yu Kunian did not wait for their answer before turning around, closing the door, and leaving.
Yu Kunian returned to the underground parking lot and sat in the driver’s seat. She didn’t start the car immediately but closed her eyes to rest. However, the Alpha was soon interrupted by a ringing phone. Yu Kunian answered, and before she could speak, she heard Jiang Qiu shouting on the other side:
“Isn’t this wedding a bit too fast? When was it decided? Are you prepared? Kunian, why didn’t you say anything to me and suddenly just sent out an invitation?”
Jiang Qiu had also been preparing for her engagement and wedding recently and felt there was a lot to handle. However, Yu Kunian clearly had a shorter preparation time yet was holding her wedding sooner.
Yu Kunian opened her eyes and tilted her head back slightly before saying, “If I don’t get married sooner, am I supposed to wait for someone to tear us apart?”
Jiang Qiu thought about it and found it made sense. “Well, you were aiming for marriage from the start anyway, but what happened recently? That Teacher Song is actually willing to get married now? Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Aren’t you busy?” Yu Kunian hadn’t had much time lately to tell Jiang Qiu about other things. Regardless, there would be time to talk when Jiang Qiu returned. “Can you find the time to come back to the country for my wedding?”
“How could I not attend your wedding?” Jiang Qiu answered quickly. “In these next two days, I’ll finish handling the matters on my fiancée’s side as quickly as possible. I plan to just bring her back directly; otherwise, it’ll be too much trouble traveling back and forth.”
“Engagement at the same time as me?” Yu Kunian asked.
Jiang Qiu declined. “After yours, probably. I don’t plan to rush the engagement or the wedding. I want Wen Yan to get familiar with Lihua City first before deciding on a time.”
“Mhm, then come to my wedding together.” Yu Kunian naturally wanted to see what kind of person Jiang Qiu’s fiancée was. Having said that, she remembered Yu Sheng and added, “My younger sister will also be coming back. I’ll introduce you then.”
Jiang Qiu was somewhat surprised. “You have a sister?”
Yu Kunian: “I think I told you.”
Jiang Qiu: “I don’t remember. How long ago was that? I’ve never seen your sister, though.”
Yu Kunian said, “My sister hasn’t made many public appearances. She’s been living out of town and we never announced it publicly, so it’s normal that you haven’t seen her. Since she’s coming back this time and you’ll be here too, I want to introduce you.”
Perhaps after Yu Sheng returned this time, she wouldn’t leave Lihua City again.
Yu Kunian didn’t say much more. Jiang Qiu talked about her current situation. It sounded like the matters regarding Wen Yan’s family were quite perplexing, but fortunately, everything had been settled.
After hanging up the phone, Yu Kunian noticed that her pheromones were leaking out a bit.
Coincidentally, a text message from Song Wenzhi arrived, asking if she had finished. Yu Kunian quickly started the car. She drove faster than usual today. The scent of mint gradually filled the car, though it hadn’t spread outside the vehicle yet.
When she returned home, Song Wenzhi was sitting on the sofa. She keenly sensed Yu Kunian’s pheromones and hurriedly stood up to greet her. The Alpha’s expression was somewhat poor. Seeing the Omega approaching, she instinctively opened her arms and fell entirely into Song Wenzhi’s embrace.
Song Wenzhi staggered a few steps before steadying herself. She wrapped her arms around Yu Kunian’s waist and slowly led the Alpha back to the living room. But before they could sit down, Yu Kunian frowned and reached out to pull off the scent-blocking patch from the back of her neck. The Alpha’s pheromones immediately surged out aggressively, enveloping the two of them.
Caught off guard, Song Wenzhi’s body swayed, and then neither of them could stand steadily, falling together onto the carpet.
Song Wenzhi’s breathing hitched. She poked the Alpha pressing down on her with her finger. “Yu Kunian?”
The Alpha’s consciousness was half-clear and half-blurred. Having entered her rut period, it was difficult for her to remain rational, especially in front of Song Wenzhi. She craved to be close to the Omega, craved Song Wenzhi’s touch, and wanted even more for the Omega to soothe her.
But she smelled another Alpha’s pheromones on Song Wenzhi.
It was very faint, but during her rut, she was particularly sensitive to other Alphas’ pheromones, which triggered more possessiveness and insecurity than usual.
Yu Kunian immediately hugged Song Wenzhi tightly, her nose rubbing against the Omega’s collarbone. Ignoring the Omega’s nudges on her shoulder, she spoke with a voice that was rare in its awkwardness: “Who is that Alpha?”
Song Wenzhi was confused by this nonsensical question, not knowing who Yu Kunian was referring to. But seeing that she didn’t answer, the Alpha frowned again.
“Zhizhi,” Yu Kunian called out softly. She complained with a bit of dissatisfaction, “You have another Alpha’s pheromones on you. A strange pheromone… it smells terrible.”
Only then did Song Wenzhi realize. She explained, “Yu Kunian, I went to give Xia Weichi the invitation today. I told you this morning.”
Hearing what Song Wenzhi said, Yu Kunian released even more pheromones, attempting to completely cover Xia Weichi’s scent. She didn’t want to smell a single bit of it anymore.
Yu Kunian’s emotions were fluctuating wildly. Even lying on the carpet with Song Wenzhi like this, she had no intention of letting go or getting up. The Omega had no choice but to release soothing pheromones, letting the scent of coconut candy alleviate Yu Kunian’s abnormality.
Once Yu Kunian had stabilized slightly, Song Wenzhi pulled the Alpha up to sit on the sofa. Yu Kunian lowered her eyes, silently staring at Song Wenzhi’s hand interlaced with her own.
A moment later, she raised their joined hands and pressed her lips against the Omega’s fair knuckles. Yu Kunian reined in her pheromones, willingly allowing herself to be wrapped in the scent of coconut candy.
Song Wenzhi’s eyelashes fluttered. She leaned in closer. Once the Alpha looked at her, she stroked Yu Kunian’s cheek with her fingertips. “Do you still feel very uncomfortable?”
Yu Kunian tilted her lips into a smile. “Not anymore.”
The Alpha hugged Song Wenzhi. She felt at peace. No matter how cluttered her mood had been just now, as long as she saw Song Wenzhi, she would gradually calm down.
After she and Song Wenzhi got married, they would not be like Yu Dai and Yang Jin. The Alpha affirmed this to herself once more.
“Zhizhi, are you used to living here?” Yu Kunian rested her chin on Song Wenzhi’s shoulder. She looked at the home that was now filled with a warm atmosphere and asked.
The changes here were so significant; it completely belonged to the two of them now.
Yu Kunian would learn from Song Wenzhi, watering the flowers on the balcony when the Omega wasn’t around. Originally, Yu Kunian would only sit on the balcony at night in a daze, but now she would also bask in the early morning sunlight and observe if there were any changes in those potted plants.
They were just small things, yet clearly very different from before.
The Omega’s hand stroked her back, but she answered with a question of her own: “Yu Kunian, what do you think?”
Yu Kunian said, “We are both already used to it.”
They had made preparations and gotten used to this life to welcome their future after marriage.
The Alpha had thought she would be unable to adapt to a life suddenly shared with an Omega, but now it was clearly proven that she had even been looking forward to Song Wenzhi’s arrival for a long time—perhaps she hadn’t even realized it herself.
Song Wenzhi let go of Yu Kunian. Her gaze was gentle, and her fingertips were warm. Accompanied by soothing pheromones, she transmitted warmth to the Alpha’s palm. Song Wenzhi asked her softly, “Then what do you want to eat tonight?”
Yu Kunian thought for a moment and then said, “It seems there are no groceries left at home.” Every time they bought groceries, they wouldn’t buy too much, just enough for a few days. Lately, she had been busy with the invitations and had forgotten to buy new ones.
Song Wenzhi had anticipated this. “I bought some when I came back.”
Yu Kunian laughed. “Zhizhi, you’re so thoughtful. Then I need to think carefully about what I want to eat.”
They were already a family; they wouldn’t be torn apart by anyone. Yu Kunian didn’t know if such a home was a standard answer, but at least, the Alpha didn’t feel it was against her heart.
Yu Dai and Yang Jin always felt that Zhaoming Biotech trapped Yu Kunian, but in fact, Yu Kunian had never been trapped. She was President Yu, but she didn’t necessarily have to be Lihua City’s President Yu forever.
Before leaving the sofa to go to the refrigerator, Yu Kunian held Song Wenzhi’s hand. Recalling something, she asked one more question: “Zhizhi, no matter where we are, as long as we are together, it will always be our home, right?”
