The Pursuit of Love After Divorcing My Cold Omega - Chapter 47
From Now On, This is Our Home
“Xiao Zhi, you can’t.”
As Song Wenzhi was packing her luggage, Xia Weichi hurried over and spoke those words to her.
Song Wenzhi looked toward her. “Why?”
“You’ve only known each other for about two and a half months, haven’t you? Xiao Zhi, this is too fast. You haven’t thoroughly understood each other yet. How can you decide to get married so easily?” Xia Weichi’s brows were furrowed tightly; her reasoning was sound and logical.
Song Wenzhi’s expression remained unchanged as she replied, “Weichi, sooner or later, it’s all the same to me.”
Xia Weichi choked on her words because Song Wenzhi was right.
In truth, from the moment Song Wenzhi accepted Yu Kunian, there was no turning back for the Omega. It meant her Alpha was Yu Kunian—for this lifetime, for every day and night in the future, she would never have any other Alpha.
“No,” Xia Weichi insisted regardless.
Song Wenzhi’s fingers paused. She remained silent for a moment before lowering her head; she knew exactly what Xia Weichi was worried about.
Xia Weichi stepped half a pace closer, her face sincere and her voice as gentle as ever. “Xiao Zhi, I’m not trying to obstruct you. I just… I just want you to consider it a little longer.”
Xia Weichi didn’t know how to put it into words. She felt it was strange; everything was too sudden. Because Yu Kunian was an old acquaintance, Song Wenzhi had accepted her without any defenses. But why did Yu Kunian choose Song Wenzhi?
She wanted to find a reason, but she could never voice it. Xia Weichi sighed, and the hand she had raised dropped back to her side. Her gaze fell upon Song Wenzhi’s face, her voice as light as a white feather brushing past. “Xiao Zhi, I want you to be happy.”
Even if the conclusion to her years of waiting was being preempted by another Alpha, and even if Song Wenzhi had never considered her, she would still, and always, stand by Song Wenzhi without hesitation. She sought nothing in return; she only wanted Song Wenzhi to be happy.
The Omega’s gaze when looking at her was entirely different from when she looked at Yu Kunian.
But what did that matter?
Xia Weichi was calm. She hadn’t lost her mind just because her beloved Omega had fallen into the arms of another Alpha. However, her intuition told her that Yu Kunian had not been entirely open with Song Wenzhi. That “CEO Yu” of the business world had not yet revealed her true face.
Yet, all of this was mere speculation. She didn’t know what Yu Kunian intended to do, so Xia Weichi didn’t speak it aloud. Her worries almost overwhelmed her. She wanted to warn Song Wenzhi, but when she saw the hidden smile in Song Wenzhi’s eyes, she swallowed all her words.
She didn’t want to dampen Song Wenzhi’s spirits.
She couldn’t bear to.
Song Wenzhi liked that Alpha; she had known that for a long time.
Xia Weichi’s usually flawless face showed a hint of a crack at this moment. she forced a smile that felt slightly out of place, hiding away all her bitterness, suddenly feeling a sense of powerlessness. As she watched Song Wenzhi pack her belongings and the apartment slowly became empty, Xia Weichi’s eyes stung. Her fingertips turned white from the force of her grip on the edge of the table.
She thought that, at worst, she would be the one to catch Song Wenzhi if she fell.
The emergence of CPP technology had given her a breakthrough. At the very worst, she would exhaust everything she had to ensure Song Wenzhi had a way out.
Then she heard Song Wenzhi say, “Weichi, I will be.”
Song Wenzhi believed that she and Yu Kunian would be happy. They had exchanged their true hearts; she felt the Alpha’s heat, and she felt her own.
Hearing this, Xia Weichi merely looked away. She slowly pulled out the chair beside her and sat down, her trembling knuckles betraying all her emotions. Afterward, Xia Weichi lowered her gaze and took a deep breath. When she looked up again, her eyes deliberately bypassed the Omega to look out the balcony window. The sound of her own heartbeat echoed in her ears.
It was rapid, thundering in her ears like a series of explosions, nearly deafening her.
Xia Weichi tightened her lips. She knew that saying anything more would not change Song Wenzhi’s mind, so she wouldn’t waste any more effort. If she continued to persuade her, it would only strain her relationship with Song Wenzhi. Thus, the Alpha forced a bitter smile and finally spoke again, her voice concealing all her sorrow: “That’s good then. Xiao Zhi, give me an invitation, is that convenient?”
Xia Weichi didn’t know how she managed to say the latter half of the sentence. She felt her voice trembling, but fortunately, the Omega didn’t notice, only asking in surprise: “Aren’t you supposed to be rushing back abroad?”
“It doesn’t matter.” Xia Weichi retracted her fingers from the tabletop. “I still want to attend your wedding. I have leave I can adjust. I’ll go back after the wedding is over.” In truth, she had originally planned to leave tomorrow, but she couldn’t rest easy.
“I’ll give it to you as soon as the invitation is designed,” Song Wenzhi nodded. She and Yu Kunian planned to get the invitations made as soon as possible after moving.
As their conversation ended, before Xia Weichi could say anything else, Song Wenzhi’s phone rang. It was Yu Kunian. Seeing Song Wenzhi answer the call, Xia Weichi didn’t make another sound; she simply stood up and silently helped Song Wenzhi pack her clothes into the suitcase.
Once everything was placed in Yu Kunian’s car, Xia Weichi looked at Song Wenzhi sitting in the passenger seat, then glanced at Yu Kunian. She decided to speak plainly to the Alpha who was about to get into the car: “If you really are Xiao Zhi’s destined Alpha, I hope you don’t disappoint her. CEO Yu, Xiao Zhi has no background, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have backing domestically. I think CEO Yu should understand what I mean.”
Having said that, without waiting for Yu Kunian to respond, she immediately leaned over to wave at Song Wenzhi. “Xiao Zhi, I’ll be waiting for your invitation at any time.”
For the first time, Song Wenzhi couldn’t read Xia Weichi’s emotions. In her memory, Xia Weichi was always so gentle and calm, an Alpha who remained unmoved even if Mount Tai collapsed before her. But today, she felt as if Xia Weichi was at the end of her rope, an indescribable strangeness about her.
But Xia Weichi didn’t give her a chance to observe further before she turned and walked away.
Yu Kunian sat in the driver’s seat. Seeing Song Wenzhi’s pensive look and recalling Xia Weichi’s words, a flash of complexity crossed her eyes. However, she quickly feigned nonchalance and asked with a smile:
“Zhizhi, what are you thinking about?”
Song Wenzhi snapped back to reality. “Weichi seems a bit strange, but I can’t quite put my finger on it.”
Yu Kunian comforted her, saying, “You’re getting married. From now on, she won’t be able to meet with you as casually as before. It’s normal to feel a bit uneasy when the status of a relationship changes.”
That was what she said, but Yu Kunian knew very well it wasn’t that simple. However, since Xia Weichi currently had no intention of doing anything against her and was merely worried for Song Wenzhi, she wouldn’t take it too much to heart.
Arriving at Yu Kunian’s home again, Song Wenzhi entered carrying her suitcase. Yu Kunian took her hand and said, “From now on, this is our home.”
Yu Kunian had also made a point to refurbish the house, buying daily necessities for two. The place already bore traces of Song Wenzhi’s presence, starting from a new pair of slippers.
Neither of them was in a hurry to unpack. Yu Kunian pulled Song Wenzhi to sit on the sofa. Everything lately had been so rushed; the Alpha was only just now feeling the reality of being married. Over the past two days, looking at the marriage certificate, Yu Kunian felt as if it were an illusion. Only by gently stroking the photo of her and Song Wenzhi and seeing the Omega’s light smile did Yu Kunian repeatedly tell herself:
It was real.
Yu Kunian lowered her head and nuzzled her cheek against Song Wenzhi’s neck. Her voice sounded right by the Omega’s ear: “Zhizhi, this is so good.” Occasionally, her breath brushed past, creating a ticklish sensation. Song Wenzhi curled her fingertips before saying:
“Yu Kunian, you’ve become a bit…”
A bit clingy.
Song Wenzhi didn’t finish the sentence, but Yu Kunian seemed to know what she was thinking. After sitting up straight again, she said, “Zhizhi, my rut is coming soon.” With that, the Alpha leaned in again, and a kiss landed on the Omega’s lips.
The cool sensation was fleeting. Song Wenzhi met Yu Kunian’s gaze and gripped Yu Kunian’s hand in return. “I’ll be with you.”
During a rut, an Alpha instinctively craves an Omega’s comfort. Yu Kunian hadn’t fully entered it yet, but the signs were already there. She was even subconsciously searching for Song Wenzhi’s figure with her eyes; if she couldn’t see the Omega, the Alpha would become instinctively restless.
In previous ruts, Yu Kunian could barely maintain self-control. She would isolate herself at home and endure it in a state of confusion. But now, she had Song Wenzhi. Not just the rut, but many other things had become different.
Several pots of flowers had been newly bought for the empty space on the balcony. Song Wenzhi looked after them very well. Every time Yu Kunian walked there, she would wonder when she would see the flowers bloom. The bedroom wardrobe now held Song Wenzhi’s clothes, hanging side by side with Yu Kunian’s. Sometimes the Omega would ask her which one she should wear, and after receiving the Alpha’s answer, she would conveniently pick out the Alpha’s clothes for the day as well.
Song Wenzhi liked to prepare her lessons in the living room, but she found it tiring to sit hunched on the sofa, so she preferred sitting on the floor. However, the weather was getting colder. Even with the air conditioning running high, the tiles were still cold and would make the Omega’s knees uncomfortable. Thus, within a few days, Yu Kunian laid down a soft rug on the floor by the coffee table.
While designing the invitations, the Omega lay in Yu Kunian’s arms, holding up several samples for comparison. Song Wenzhi was somewhat indecisive, so she let the Alpha make the choice. Yu Kunian finally chose the last version they had designed. They were finally finished with the wedding invitations, and both felt a sense of relief. All other matters, large and small, were prepared; these invitations were the final step.
The wedding date was set for after Yu Kunian’s rut ended. During that time, they sent out all the invitations. On the day Song Wenzhi personally delivered the invitation to Xia Weichi, Yu Kunian also informed Yu Dai and Yang Jin of the news of their marriage.
This day was bound to come sooner or later. Yu Kunian had no intention of running away. Without waiting for Yu Dai and Yang Jin to ask, she personally went to deliver the wedding invitation.
Such news was clearly too sudden. The moment Yu Dai learned of their marriage, it was like a bolt from the blue. She was in disbelief and, even more so, found it impossible to accept.
Yu Kunian entered the house again. Looking at Yu Dai sitting on the sofa and then at Yang Jin, who was walking over to ask about the details, she immediately put the invitation on the table with a beaming smile.
That splash of red was so conspicuous, accompanied by Yu Kunian’s somewhat jarring words: “You’re welcome to attend the wedding for me and Zhizhi. As you wished, I am finally getting married.”
It was as they wished, but the person she was marrying didn’t suit their desires in the slightest.
