The Pursuit of Love After Divorcing My Cold Omega - Chapter 43
Sleeping in the Same Bed
Because her senses were slightly numbed by the alcohol, Song Wenzhi did not notice any other abnormalities. She reached out to feel her own gland, and the burning temperature gave her a sudden start.
Song Wenzhi propped herself up, instinctively wanting to leave Yu Kunian’s embrace, but she was held around the waist by the Alpha. The Alpha asked, “What’s wrong?”
“My gland…” Song Wenzhi didn’t finish her sentence. During her previous heat periods, she had never noticed the temperature of her gland due to the unbearable pain. Detecting it by chance this time, the Omega didn’t know if it was normal.
The Alpha held her tight, using her other hand to gently brush away Song Wenzhi’s hair. Her fingertips grazed the back of Song Wenzhi’s hand as Yu Kunian said, “Let me see.” Song Wenzhi remained still; she keenly felt the Alpha’s hand gently touching and inspecting the area beside her gland. The back of her neck was indeed very hot.
Yu Kunian paused, withdrew her hand after a moment, and reassured her, “It’s normal, Zhizhi. Don’t be afraid. Do you feel anything unusual right now?”
She had memorized almost every precaution Xia Weichi had sent her. As Song Wenzhi’s private doctor, although Yu Kunian and Xia Weichi shared a mutual hostility, she still trusted Xia Weichi’s understanding of Song Wenzhi’s body. After all, every Omega’s physical condition is different. During a heat, the companionship of an Alpha partner is a necessity for all Omegas, but the care provided during that companionship varies from person to person.
Yu Kunian was actually glad Xia Weichi was there; otherwise, she would have found it difficult to ensure she could take proper care of Song Wenzhi. This feeling had made the Alpha feel frustrated and helpless over the past few days.
Song Wenzhi said, “It’s starting to hurt a little.”
However, it wasn’t the kind of pain she felt during previous heats; the current sensation was still bearable.
Yu Kunian’s arm encircled her, and she gently rubbed her forehead against Song Wenzhi’s. The scent of mint began to gradually overpower the scent of wine, attempting to soothe some of Song Wenzhi’s discomfort. They leaned closely against each other in the sofa. Just like last time, the Omega felt at ease and wrapped her arms around the Alpha’s waist.
They lay together in the living room for a long while with nothing to do, chatting casually and without burden. Eventually, the Omega decided to wash the dishes left over from dinner so they could go to sleep.
Rarely unburdened by school affairs, Song Wenzhi seemed much more relaxed. After slowly clearing the table scraps with Yu Kunian, the Omega intended to return to the bedroom. The Alpha, however, reflected for a moment. She had originally intended to find another bedroom to rest in, but Song Wenzhi’s current state might not allow her to leave. Therefore, Yu Kunian had no choice but to discuss with Song Wenzhi about sleeping together tonight.
The bed in Yu Kunian’s bedroom was very large, more than enough for two people. Song Wenzhi took off the Alpha’s coat she was wearing. She sat on the edge of the bed and picked up the pair of lensless glasses to look at them. Yu Kunian had been wearing them when they met in the piano room, though the Alpha had never worn them again after that.
Yu Kunian briefly tidied the desk. When she turned around, she saw the glasses in Song Wenzhi’s hand. “I just bought them randomly. Do you like them?”
Song Wenzhi put them back and shook her head, saying, “Just curious.”
She was curious why Yu Kunian had worn them that day, whether there was a special occasion that required them, and why she was at Lihua University.
“To see an elder,” Yu Kunian sat down beside her. “My mother thinks I look too aggressive and need a pair of glasses to tone it down.”
Hearing this, Song Wenzhi looked up to study her face. Her features were soft, and her gaze wasn’t aggressive at all; she clearly looked very approachable. The Omega’s brow furrowed slightly, “How could that be?”
The corners of Yu Kunian’s mouth curled up. She pulled Song Wenzhi into a hug and said with irrepressible amusement, “I don’t know either.”
In any case, she had never felt that way herself.
Thinking back to their first meeting in the piano room that day, Yu Kunian couldn’t help but ask again, “Zhizhi, why did you run away after only saying a few words when you saw me that day?”
Song Wenzhi withdrew her gaze, and Yu Kunian’s figure from that day appeared in her mind. The Alpha had been sitting there playing the piano; although there were parts she played incorrectly, Song Wenzhi had stopped her footsteps because of it.
Perhaps Yu Kunian no longer remembered her.
Song Wenzhi hadn’t expected to see Yu Kunian at Lihua University. She had just instinctively glanced at the piano room as she passed by, and with just that one side profile, she had recognized Yu Kunian. Unfortunately, the Alpha hadn’t played for long and hadn’t even finished a single piece, yet Song Wenzhi had walked closer as if possessed. To avoid having her abnormality noticed, she had tried to pretend to be a student coming to practice the piano.
Looking back now, it seemed her acting hadn’t been very convincing.
The Omega’s ears couldn’t help but turn red. Seeing that Yu Kunian was still waiting for her answer, Song Wenzhi said vaguely, “I had something to do that day.”
Yu Kunian didn’t expose her, only smiling. Regardless, she now knew that Song Wenzhi had been paying attention to her all along. The Alpha leaned a few inches closer to the Omega, her warm breath fluttering against Song Wenzhi’s cheek. Yu Kunian lowered her eyes and lightly pecked the corner of Song Wenzhi’s lips, saying softly, “Let’s go to sleep.”
This was the first time they had ever lain in the same bed together. Song Wenzhi was a bit stiff. Yu Kunian held her hand and exhaled a reminder before sleep: “If anything feels wrong, you must wake me up.”
Song Wenzhi nodded in response.
Xia Weichi’s anxiety had completely infected both of them. Not only was Song Wenzhi afraid that something might go wrong during this heat, but it also caused Yu Kunian’s nerves to tighten.
Of course, Xia Weichi’s concerns were not unfounded. Song Wenzhi also knew the uniqueness of her own body, so her sleep was not particularly peaceful. At some unknown hour in the middle of the night, a thin layer of sweat broke out on her forehead. She opened her eyes in a half-dreaming, half-awake state, finding that her fingertips had unconsciously curled into her palm, and the pain in her gland was becoming unbearable.
Her breathing also became a bit rapid. Song Wenzhi was now fully awake. She was no stranger to this kind of pain; it was the condition of her previous heats, only this time it had arrived late. The stray hairs on her forehead were wet and somewhat sticky. The Omega adjusted her breathing and looked at the person beside her, opening her mouth to say, “Yu Kunian.”
Song Wenzhi’s voice was trembling and very soft, almost inaudible, but the Alpha seemed to have sensed something and woke up. Yu Kunian immediately sat up to observe her condition. She quickly released more soothing pheromones and turned on the bedside lamp with a worried expression.
Pheromones could not completely alleviate the pain coming from Song Wenzhi’s gland. The Omega curled her body into Yu Kunian’s embrace, her brow tightly furrowed, unable to even speak. Yu Kunian held her; the Omega was even trembling slightly, and her fingertips were gripping the Alpha’s hand with force. It was impossible not to feel distressed for her.
The Alpha lowered her head. There was no other way in this situation, so she whispered into Song Wenzhi’s ear, “Zhizhi, I’m going to give you a temporary mark now. Endure it for a moment.”
