The Only Ultimate Alpha in the Universe - Chapter 20
Admiral Landis’s wedding ceremony finally came to a successful conclusion under the varied gazes of the guests. Following the banquet and the ball, the attendees began to depart one by one.
Under the escort of his retinue, Third Prince Moang took a shuttle to the landing pad. Beside him were Duke Lotte, Wenxi, and Mr. Kate, the healer who had recently suffered a humiliating rebuff.
Moang spoke softly, “So, even Mr. Kate is helpless when it comes to Admiral Landis?”
Kate removed his hat in extreme embarrassment. “Your Highness, I apologize for overestimating myself. I am powerless to help, much to my regret.”
Moang smiled good-naturedly. “How could I blame you, sir? It is just that Admiral Landis, as the Commander of the Third Legion, is a pillar of the Empire’s defense against xenomorphs. I simply did not expect his mental pollution to be this severe.” He asked concernedly, “From my observations, he shows no obvious signs of mutation. You have entered his mental sea; is the situation truly at that stage?”
By rights, Kate should not have answered such private questions concerning a mental sea. However, since the questioner was the Third Prince, Kate did not dare to be arrogant.
He thought for a moment, choosing his words carefully. “Your Highness, in my experience, the source of pollution in most officers is easy to find. Once the source is purified, the mental sea slowly returns to normal. Once animalistic mutation appears, it means the source is already very strong. It acts like cancer cells, spreading continuously until it swallows the entire mental sea. At that point, the person completely loses their reason and self-awareness, becoming a beast.”
He continued, “For someone who is already semi-mutated, it takes a healer of at least 2A or even 3A rank to attempt treatment. But Admiral Landis’s mental sea has been almost entirely swallowed by the source…” Thinking of that lifeless desert filled with withered bones and the sky blotted out by a monster, Kate felt a shiver of lingering fear.
“A normal person in such a situation would have mutated or suffered a mental collapse long ago. But Admiral Landis has maintained his sanity through sheer power and iron will, preventing the pollution from spreading. It is truly incredible. He truly deserves the title ‘Sword of the Empire’…”
Moang gave a thoughtful hum. “Then, in your opinion, can Admiral Landis’s 100% compatible spouse truly heal him?”
Kate hesitated, then shook his head. “To be honest, I am not optimistic. C-grade is too low, and he is mentally disabled. If he were A-grade or higher, there might be a chance. However, if one does not care about the spouse’s own health and lifespan, then perhaps there is still hope.”
Moang paused and looked at him. “Are you suggesting that the Admiral might merely view his spouse as a consumable?”
Kate gave a sheepish laugh. “Well, I certainly didn’t say that.”
At the landing pad, the hatch of a stretched white Phantom flyer opened, slowly lowering an escalator. Under the respectful gazes of the group, Prince Moang stood on the railing as the elevator ascended. Inside the cabin, Moang sat on a wide sofa and summoned his personal guard.
“How is the matter I asked you to handle?”
The guard summoned his mental entity—a black, wide-eared bat. Its most unique ability was identifying the mental power of others. “Your Highness, I have analyzed the two types of residual energy collected from the restroom. Aside from the Duke’s son, the other mental power is highly likely to be at A-grade or above.”
“Oh? As I suspected.” Moang felt a sense of satisfaction.
Unexpectedly, the guard presented another set of data. “According to the analysis results, his mental power compatibility with you is 100%.”
“What?!” Moang looked up sharply, snapping into a standing position. He snatched the report and read it carefully. “100%… that man, Xiao Sa, is actually a 100% match with me too! What is so special about him? What secrets is he hiding? Is he an extremely rare Universal Match?”
Initially, Moang was merely curious about Xiao Sa. Now, he was genuinely shocked. “A pity.” Moang’s excitement lasted only a moment before he shook his head with an expression of profound regret. “How did he end up married so young…”
Wenser Estate.
Tonight was the first night of Landis and Xiao Sa’s marriage. The attendants had prepared everything and left the room early.
Landis’s bedroom was located on the top floor of the main building. The dark red velvet curtains were tightly drawn, and warm lights illuminated a massive classical European oil painting on the wall. In the center of the room was an extremely wide mahogany four-poster bed, now dressed in passionate rose-red linens and sprinkled with a fragrant layer of rose petals.
The master suite was spacious. Xiao Sa toured the room, noting two doors—one leading to a bathroom and the other to a walk-in closet. Opposite the seating area was an antique fireplace with a holographic campfire flickering inside. At the wine cabinet, an attendant had prepared chilled tequila.
Landis removed his dress jacket and hung it up. He turned to see Xiao Sa pouring a glass of liquor. Xiao Sa didn’t love drinking, but he liked tequila because it smelled similar to his own pheromones. Before his lips could touch the glass, it was suddenly taken from his hand.
“Don’t drink this.” Landis had walked up behind him, setting the glass aside before opening a warming cabinet.
“What’s wrong?” Xiao Sa asked suspiciously.
“There are some ‘festive’ additives in that wine. It is a wedding tradition, but you shouldn’t drink it.”
Festive additives?
Xiao Sa froze. His brain, devoid of any romantic or marital experience, finally realized with hindsight: tonight, he was supposed to fulfill his marital duties with his new “wife”! What should he do? For the first time, he felt a bit nervous. In his physiology classes, the teachers taught how to use pheromones to mark and soothe an Omega and how to enter the reproductive chamber to breed but they never mentioned what to do if the partner had no glands or reproductive chamber.
While Xiao Sa was dazed, Landis returned, handing him a glass of warm milk. “Drink this instead. Nutrient calcium milk, strawberry flavored.”
Xiao Sa looked at the milk, then at Landis. “?”
Landis said, “It’s rich in trace elements, specifically for those with abnormal mental entity release. Don’t drink alcohol from now on; just stick to milk.”
Xiao Sa made an indescribable face. “I am twenty-four, not fourteen.” Last time they met, Landis had given him the same thing because he thought he was injured. Did the man think he was a child who needed milk to grow?
“I know. You are still very young.” Landis let out a low chuckle and reached out to brush a stray lock of hair from Xiao Sa’s temple. “If you don’t like it, I can change it to banana flavor.”
Xiao Sa: “…” That is not the point!
Whether it was a hallucination or not, even though Landis was only six years older, he always gave off the vibe of being from a different generation. Fine, I’ll let it slide, Xiao Sa thought. As a magnanimous Alpha, he shouldn’t refuse his wife’s concern. Milk helped with sleep, and at least it wasn’t bitter melon soup. He took the glass and downed a large gulp. The taste was actually okay—sweet and sour.
Seeing him finish, Landis walked toward the bathroom. “Going to wash up now.”
Xiao Sa nearly choked. Did that mean washing up together? His new wife was truly too passionate and proactive; it was actually a bit embarrassing. The Omegas he had seen were usually reserved and shy, needing an Alpha’s pampering and care. He never expected his partner to be like Landis.
Xiao Sa, who had strong “Big Alpha” tendencies, quickly adjusted his mindset. Before the bathroom door could fully close, he grabbed the handle and squeezed in behind Landis.
Landis turned around, showing a flicker of surprise before looking understanding. So, Xiao Sa wanted to be with him. A slight curve touched the corner of his mouth before flattening. As he unfastened his tie, he asked, “Do you want to shower or use the tub?”
The master bathroom was massive, with gold and jade-colored cracked marble walls and floors. The classical sconces on the walls used holographic projections to simulate the romantic effect of flickering candlelight. Near the floor-to-ceiling window was a circular hot spring tub, while a spacious shower was tucked behind a frosted glass screen.
Xiao Sa’s gaze swept between the two. “Shower. It’s faster.” In the past, soaking in a tub always made him drowsy until his skin pruned.
Landis suppressed a smile and said in a low tone, “We have plenty of time tonight. No need to rush.” He turned on the hot water and adjusted the temperature.
When he turned back, he saw Xiao Sa had already briskly stripped off his shirt, leaving only his white trousers. He had a pulse toothbrush in his mouth and was leaning against the frosted glass screen, squinting at Landis while casually brushing his teeth.
As the hot water sprayed, mist began to rise in the bathroom. The warm lights refracted through the steam onto the youth’s bare torso, outlining the perfect proportions of broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and long legs. A gentle luster flowed over his firm chest and clearly defined eight-pack abs. A youthful, vibrant body his skin was so fair it seemed to glow, without a single scar to mar its beauty.
Landis’s gaze darkened, his eyes lingering for a long time until Xiao Sa spoke up, “Is the water too hot?”
Landis snapped back to reality, realizing the back of his hand had turned red from the spray. He quickly adjusted the temperature, rinsed his hand under cold water, and slowly began to unbutton his shirt.
One wall of the bathroom was a massive full-length mirror. With his back to Xiao Sa, Landis undid his buttons, exposing well-proportioned chest muscles and a smooth, undulating waistline. Xiao Sa noted that aside from the jagged scar on his chest, there were many old injuries that had healed into faint pink marks. Given the Empire’s medical technology, removing scars wasn’t difficult, yet Landis chose to keep them. Combined with his perennially cold, arrogant face, he exuded an aura of intense, chilling pressure.
Landis’s voice was deep. “Sorry. It might not look very good.”
Xiao Sa immediately shook his head. “No.” His gaze drifted through the mirror, making brief contact with Landis’s before darting away. So wild… Xiao Sa felt a hint of envy. As a kid, he had once wanted to carve a cross-shaped scar under his eye because it looked cool.
Landis’s gaze fell on the tips of the youth’s ears. He let out a low laugh. “Don’t be shy. Come here.”
Xiao Sa instantly straightened his back, frowning with dissatisfaction. How could a dignified Alpha be shy? His competitive streak flared up. How do I pretend to be experienced on my first night of married life?
Xiao Sa wrapped a towel around his waist and stepped into the shower, affecting a calm demeanor as he looked Landis up and down. “I’ve seen plenty,” he said solemnly. “I won’t be embarrassed.”
Landis paused and took a quiet step closer. “Plenty? In your past?” A sudden pang, like a hot ember, flared in his chest. A past he had no part in—before they met, had someone else stood before Xiao Sa like this?
Landis gazed deeply at Xiao Sa. The water washed over him, flowing down his throat, across his collarbone and chest, and into his waist. The indefinable, faint scent emanating from the youth became even more pronounced in the narrow, humid space. It stood to reason that a young, handsome man like this would have no shortage of suitors. Perhaps more than just suitors—perhaps a former lover…
Xiao Sa was lathering bubbles into his hair when he sensed a scorching gaze fixed on his back. He wiped his wet face and was about to ask what was wrong when a warm, damp palm touched the back of his neck.
Xiao Sa’s gaze darkened instantly. An Alpha’s gland was the most sensitive and private part of their body. Aside from an Omega they had marked, they would never allow anyone near it, let alone touch it. To be touched by another “Alpha” meant aggression, violation, and danger. Especially since Landis’s gaze currently carried an indescribable sense of aggression and possessiveness.
Xiao Sa’s instincts were activated, his body moving faster than his conscious mind. Almost the instant a finger touched the gland, he seized Landis’s wrist, stepped forward with his knee to pry the other’s legs apart, and pinned him against the tiled wall.
“What are you doing?!”
With his back against the cold tiles, Landis snapped back to his senses. His voice was hoarse. “Sorry. I was impulsive.” Had he forgotten his inhibitor today? He must have reminded Xiao Sa of the forced incident on the warship. Landis felt a wave of regret. What is wrong with me? Xiao Sa just met me; so, what if he had a lover before? As the older one, I should be more tolerant and restrained…
Little did he know, Xiao Sa was even more embarrassed. What is wrong with me? We are legally married, yet I almost pinned him to the wall for a beating. Didn’t I decide to treat him well for these six months?
He immediately released his grip, his gaze wandering. But he couldn’t be blamed; an Alpha’s instinct was to protect their Omega, and Landis didn’t seem like an “O” at all his entire aura was saturated with Alpha aggression. Restraining instinct was truly not easy.
However, as an Alpha, he couldn’t be petty.
Xiao Sa cleared his throat and grabbed Landis’s wrist again. He tilted his head, exposing a patch of skin on his neck reddened by the hot water. “If you want to touch it… here, I’ll let you have a little touch.”
