The Only Ultimate Alpha in the Universe - Chapter 21
After a brief moment of surprise, Landis stared at him intently, his ice-blue eyes darkening further through the rising mist.
A faint, elusive fragrance wafted from Xiao Sa. When Landis tried to savor it, it seemed to vanish, like an itch that could not quite be scratched, teasing his nerves without ever granting satisfaction. His gaze lingered on the side of the neck Xiao Sa had exposed to him, and he reached out to touch it as if possessed.
Landis’s hands, calloused from years of piloting mechs and wielding firearms, were slightly rough. The moment his fingertips brushed the skin, Xiao Sa felt an immediate discomfort, as if his territory were being invaded by an outsider.
Aggressive pheromones instinctively surged from his glands, enveloping his body. Xiao Sa’s brow lowered slightly; even as he tried to suppress his combative instincts, it was difficult to control his sensitive glands. Yet Landis seemed to have discovered a new world. His thumb rubbed repeatedly against the skin of Xiao Sa’s neck until it was flushed and hot, seemingly unwilling to let go.
The shower stall was filled with Xiao Sa’s pheromones. Steamed by the hot water, the scent grew thicker in the narrow space, becoming almost viscous.
What is this scent? It smells so good.
Landis leaned into the crook of Xiao Sa’s neck, closing his eyes in a state of near-intoxication. He breathed in deep lungfuls of that unique aroma, mellow, heady, and saturated with hormonal attraction. As hot breath fanned against his neck, the breathing of both men grew heavy and labored.
Xiao Sa’s amber eyes gradually turned dark and profound. “Stop touching it,” he rasped.
I let you touch it once, not rub it forever! What Alpha could stand this?
He gripped Landis’s arm, trying to pull him away, but the latter could not resist the temptation of the pheromones and pressed even closer. Landis had once been temporarily marked by Xiao Sa’s pheromones. Even though the scent had mostly dissipated over time, his body remembered it deep in its marrow.
So what if his new husband had other lovers in the past? He belonged to Landis now. They were a 100% match, a legally wed couple destined by fate. This realization filled Landis with an unprecedented sense of excitement and pleasure. Immersed in this attraction, he possessively kissed the youth’s neck. His damp lips and tongue licked across the skin he had rubbed raw, his voice incredibly hoarse. “Xiao Sa.”
The stimulation of having his glands kissed was even more intense than the previous touching. Xiao Sa’s blood began to race uncontrollably. As Landis’s saliva dampened the skin over the glands, a very faint scent entered Xiao Sa’s nose alongside it.
For the people of Xiao Sa’s home planet, pheromones were most concentrated in the neck glands, followed by the blood and other bodily fluids. When they had kissed at the wedding, he had not noticed it, but now that Landis’s desire was stirred by his own pheromones, the reaction triggered a scent from Landis himself.
It was very, very faint, as if diluted by mountain spring water. It was the scent of high-altitude cedar, cold, crisp, and carrying a hint of bitter woodiness. Xiao Sa realized he had smelled this on the warship that night. So people of this star system also emit pheromones under specific circumstances? It was not sweet like most Omegas, but it was unexpectedly pleasant.
Xiao Sa’s gaze darkened. His body seemed to receive a signal; the Alpha instinct to mark prey instantly overrode his combat instinct. He took a deep breath, released the grip on Landis’s wrist, and moved his hand to the man’s throat. If he just bit down here, marked him, and made this calm and powerful man completely surrender…
Out of a natural Alpha’s desire for conquest, an indescribable thrill surged up his spine like an electric current. While Xiao Sa was hesitating over whether to fulfill his marital duties in the bathroom, Landis was no longer satisfied with just the neck. He turned his face and captured Xiao Sa’s lips.
It was different from the unpleasant biting on the warship and the rehearsed formality of the wedding. This kiss was lingering and urgent, filled with an unspeakable lust. Xiao Sa’s pupils dilated slightly. So this is what a kiss between a husband and wife feels like?
His lips were warmed and then scalded by the other’s heat. They exchanged breath between their teeth, their respiration growing ragged. In the narrow space, the temperature rose sharply; the steam and heat felt like a furnace.
Suddenly, Xiao Sa felt something furry rub against his calf. Glancing down, he saw Landis’s black lion squatting at his feet. Black Flame’s wet nose was twitching as it inhaled the pheromones greedily. It rubbed against Xiao Sa’s legs, tossing its head and wagging its tail, letting out low sounds to declare its excitement.
Landis panted, pulling back slightly. He looked down at his mental entity and frowned. “Black Flame, why are you out? Go back.”
Black Flame let out a reluctant whine. It needed mental soothing too! Why was it the only lonely mental entity here?
Landis ignored it. He turned back, his gaze sweeping over Xiao Sa’s darkened, swollen lips. “Let us go back to the room,” he rasped.
Xiao Sa gave a forced, steady “Mhm.” He took a clean towel, dried himself off, wrapped it around his waist, and followed Landis out. The temperature in the bedroom was perfectly regulated, dispelling much of the sweltering heat from the shower. The bedside lamp was dimmed, casting an ambiguous glow over the large central bed.
Landis poured himself a glass of tequila and took a sip. He leaned back against the pillows, his dark eyes fixed on his new partner. His silk robe was wide open, exposing firm chest muscles that rose and fell with his breathing, shimmering in the dim light with the residual moisture from the bath.
Xiao Sa, of course, was not allowed to drink. He sat on the edge of the bed drying his hair, his peripheral vision drifting toward the man. Tsk tsk, trying to seduce me again. Truly a cunning man of the Starry Sea. To defend his persona as an “experienced Alpha,” Xiao Sa decided to turn his back to the man.
He heard low chuckles from behind. The mattress dipped as Landis leaned in, wrapping an arm around Xiao Sa’s waist and pressing his nose against the youth’s neck, where a rose-colored hickey had already bloomed. “Tonight is our first night. Do you know what to do?”
Suppressing the tingling sensation, Xiao Sa turned around. He boldly looked the man up and down, then down and up. Maintaining a composed expression, he said slowly, “Of course I know.”
It is just marking, same as last time.
He tossed the towel aside and climbed onto the bed. Under Landis’s surprised gaze, Xiao Sa pressed one hand against the man’s chest and braced the other against the headboard, pinning him onto the soft pillows. At a time like this, what should an Alpha say to his new partner?
Xiao Sa was at a bit of a loss. Something like “Darling, you are beautiful”? He looked down at the lean, powerful body that was nearly his own height and could not connect it to those words. Or “Leave it to me, I will protect you”? He realized that with Landis’s status and power, the man did not need protection at all.
After searching for something appropriate to say and coming up empty, Xiao Sa unconsciously curled his fingers, feeling the firm, elastic texture under his palm. “Tsk. They are big.”
Landis raised an eyebrow in surprise. “…”
Xiao Sa expressionlessly thought: Crap, I said my inner thoughts out loud!
He was about to pull his hand back, but Landis seized his wrist and pressed it back against his chest. His voice was deep and filled with amusement. “It is alright. I do not mind.”
Xiao Sa: “…” This guy is definitely doing this on purpose!
Taking a deep breath, he decided to simply release his pheromones. A rich scent of tequila instantly enveloped the two on the bed. Landis felt a wave of dizziness and intoxication almost immediately. His mouth parted slightly as he took a few quick breaths, feeling as if he were drowning in water.
That fragrance again. He did not know what the scent on Xiao Sa was, but he knew he craved it desperately. He wanted to claim and possess it; it was an addiction. He felt his usual tight control and rationality were no longer necessary to maintain on his wedding night.
Instinctively, he grabbed Xiao Sa’s shoulders and pulled him into a fierce embrace, seeking a kiss before rolling over to pin Xiao Sa between his chest and the sheets. His strength was immense, carrying the natural dominance of someone long accustomed to being in power. This aggressive aura immediately sparked Xiao Sa’s displeasure.
Xiao Sa was stronger; with a flex of his knees and a twist of his waist, he flipped them over, reversing their positions once more. “Hey, just lie still and let me handle it,” Xiao Sa complained in a similarly entitled tone as he pinned the man’s limbs. Are the people in this star system over-proactive?
Landis’s hot palms caressed his neck. “Don’t worry,” he rasped. “I will not hurt you like I did on the warship.”
Xiao Sa raised an eyebrow. He felt the other was misunderstanding something. “I was the one on top last time, too.”
Landis froze. His caressing hand stopped. His brain seemed to stall for a second, and his expression slowly morphed into a look of pure confusion. Xiao Sa tilted his head and blinked, his face showing the same expression. Don’t tell me our “models” clash…
Amidst the spreading pheromones, the two stared at each other in an awkward, silent stalemate. Finally, feeling a feverish heat from the strengthening tequila scent, Landis panted slightly, his damp blonde bangs sticking to his forehead. He stared at Xiao Sa with deepening ice-blue eyes. Perhaps he should not have drunk that “festive” tequila.
“I did not…” Landis swallowed hard, his throat dry. “I did not take an inhibitor today. So, I need…”
Before he could finish, Xiao Sa lost his patience. “I know.”
He reached out to brush away the blonde hair from Landis’s neck and leaned down. His warm breath fanned behind the ear, where two faint red dots from the previous bite were nearly invisible. “Bear with it.”
Landis frowned slightly. “What—”
Before the word was out, Xiao Sa bared his sharp canines and bit down on the same spot on the neck. On the warship, Landis had been in a mindless frenzy and had no memory of what happened. He did not know he had been bitten by an Alpha, only that he remembered a unique scent. This time was different. Landis was fully conscious as he was marked for the second time.
The moment the tequila pheromones surged into his bloodstream, Landis’s pupils dilated. A sensation of extreme trembling overwhelmed him, and every muscle in his body pulled taut. Something unknown raced uncontrollably through his veins, flowing into his limbs and bones. He could not tell if it was extreme pain or extreme pleasure; perhaps at that depth, the two were the same.
Xiao Sa held him down firmly, his teeth refusing to let go of the neck. His amber eyes narrowed slightly with the satisfaction and excitement of conquering prey, looking like a black panther enjoying a feast. The feeling of Landis invading his territory earlier was instantly inverted; now, he was the one running rampant in the other’s domain, leaving his scent and marking it as his own. Landis gasped for air, struggling to rise and resist Xiao Sa’s control, but in the end, he could only furrow his brow and close his eyes tight.
A long time later, Xiao Sa satisfiedly retracted his canines. Landis appeared to have fallen asleep. He gave the man’s shoulder a gentle nudge, but Landis remained deeply asleep with a furrowed brow, as if experiencing a nightmare.
Xiao Sa rubbed his chin. Might as well help him comb his mental sea while he is out.
He pressed a hand to the man’s head. A fine web of mental threads descended, and he was quickly immersed in Landis’s mental sea. He saw a desolate desert where the sky was eternal night. Skeletons in the sand sang a melody of death, trying to drag him into the quicksand. Xiao Sa felt no fear. For every skull that dared pop up, he manifested a giant mental hammer and smashed it. After several rounds, even the bones behaved.
However, this was very different from when he treated Duan Feng. He had no clue where the source of pollution was; it was as if there were no source, or rather, the pollution was everywhere. No wonder Landis warned him repeatedly that he was difficult to treat.
“So, this guy’s mental sea is this barren,” Xiao Sa frowned. It seemed a full treatment would not happen tonight; he would need a better plan. But clearing out a few skeletons was a start.
The clock on the wall ticked away. As Xiao Sa’s mental power neared exhaustion, he finally withdrew from the mental sea and opened his eyes. He looked at Landis sleeping beside him; the man’s brow had smoothed out, and he was in a deep sleep. His pajamas were a mess from their earlier scuffling, and his blonde hair was soft and scattered. He looked less like the cold Admiral and more gentle and quiet.
Between the marking and the mental sea combing, Xiao Sa was exhausted. He let out a lazy yawn, meditated for a moment using the method from Landis’s notes, and then crawled under the covers, wrapping himself into a ball. After a moment, he felt something was missing. He reached out and fished around until he pulled Landis’s head into the crook of his arm. In the posture of a perfect newlywed Alpha, he comfortably drifted into a dream.
