- Chapter 48.1 - How to Deal with a Fiancée Who is Too Stiff
When golden wind meets jade dew, it surpasses all worldly encounters.
The pristine moonlight filtered through the hazy window screen, illuminating the mahogany floor, its lingering glow slicing the space into asymmetrical halves. Scattered garments lay strewn across the floor like a winding path leading straight to that hidden sanctuary of tenderness.
The quilt had been disdainfully piled at the foot of the bed, the dark sheets crumpled beyond recognition.
Everything was an unspoken foreshadowing.
Only the pheromones in the room boldly displayed the truth.
Wen Yan’s thoughts were hazy, her body limp as still water. She felt adrift in an endless ocean, a lone boat rising and falling with the waves.
An evening breeze slipped through a crack in the window, unintentionally becoming the intruder disrupting their precious moment.
“Cold.”
Wen Yan murmured hoarsely, then clung tighter to Gu Lin, drawing from her scorching warmth.
A bead of sweat slid from the corner of Gu Lin’s nose and landed precisely in the hollow of Wen Yan’s collarbone.
“I’ll close the window.”
Gu Lin’s voice had grown husky and sensual, sending shivers through Wen Yan’s ears. As she pushed herself up to leave, an arm hooked around her waist.
The tingling sensation made her legs go weak.
“Don’t go.”
The nightly enchantress bit her lip, her captivating gaze piercing through souls.
A millennium-old fox spirit, every gesture dripping with lethal allure.
“You’re not allowed to leave.”
“Don’t leave me.”
Two simple sentences shattered Gu Lin’s composure completely. The nasal murmur rising from deep within her chest left her mind blank. Like a scholar bewitched by a fox spirit, she became a soulless puppet, obediently pulling over the thin blanket nearby.
You see, the stories in books aren’t entirely fabricated.
Beautiful women often embody supernatural beings, skilled in magic that strips away all self-control with a single glance or fingertip.
6:30 PM. The alarm clock on the bedside table rang. Wen Xiu reached out to slap the doll-shaped clock, yawning as he climbed out of bed.
The teenager slept restlessly, and the large bed allowed him to toss and turn unconsciously through the night. His neatly styled short hair from before bed had transformed into a disheveled bird’s nest upon waking.
Wearing mismatched homewear with several shirt buttons undone, his hair sticking out in all directions, he stumbled out of his room.
Time to wash up, brush teeth, cook, then wake his sister.
What a capable and domestic younger brother.
But as he left his room, he spotted a tall, slender figure bustling around the kitchen island, wearing his sister’s pajamas with a swaying ponytail. Hearing his movements, the figure turned and greeted him with a smile.
“Morning, A Xiu.”
It was Director Lin’s face!
Wen Xiu stood speechless in shock, pointing at the unexpected guest who’d arrived who-knows-when. The word “you” lingered on his lips, refusing to form coherent sentences.
When did you get here!
Why are you in my house?!
Does my sister know about this?!
Wait.
If my sister knows then what were you two doing last night?!
Countless questions flashed through the teenager’s mind like streaming comments, but his mouth couldn’t keep up with his racing thoughts, still stuck on that meaningless pronoun.
“You!”
“I’m making breakfast,” Gu Lin smiled, the beige apron and her ponytail making her look both domestic and gentle. “Go wash up quickly, then help me wake your sister.”
Wen Xiu finally realized how inappropriate his disheveled, barely-dressed appearance was. The omega boy instantly flushed crimson, let out a silent scream, and hurried back to his room.
Perhaps due to the mix of embarrassment and frustration, he didn’t control the door’s closing force properly, a heavy slam echoed through the space.
Hearing this, Wen Yan frowned, grabbed the nearby pillow and placed it over her head, trying to block out the noise as she struggled to sleep a little longer, determined to uphold her excellent habit of staying in bed.
Five minutes later, Wen Xiu emerged from his room again, now dressed in clean, neat clothes with his hair smoothed down. A faint blush still lingered on his cheeks as he softly greeted Gu Lin.
“G-good morning, Director Lin.”
Holding a spatula, Gu Lin smiled gently.
“Good morning.”
“You can also call me sister.”
Gu Lin glanced toward Wen Yan’s room, her eyes curving into smiles, her aura incredibly gentle completely devoid of the cold, distant demeanor she displayed outside.
“I don’t think Wen Yan would mind.”
Wen Xiu: So you and my sister are already together?!?!?!
Ahhhh!
The ship he supported had become real! Wen Xiu felt so happy he wanted to jump for joy!
“Then, Sister Lin?”
Wen Xiu had thought Lin Ye was her real name.
But it didn’t matter, if he called her Sister Gu, then when she took the Wen siblings home, from his eldest sister to Sisi-jie, they’d all be “Sister Gu.”
“Good boy.”
The young man felt his heart flutter at being called “good boy,” overflowing with joy. Although his sister treated him well, she occasionally teased him for fun. Not that he disliked being teased by his sister Wen Xiu loved everything about his sister. But he also wanted an older sister like Director Lin: strong and steady, seemingly unfazed by anything, yet gentle like the girl next door.
With two such sisters, he felt like he could swagger down the street!
His two sisters were amazing!
Scratching his cheek sheepishly, Wen Xiu moved closer and asked, “Sister Lin, what are you making?”
It was scrambled egg sandwiches. Gu Lin had also fried some bacon and ham. The refrigerator contained limited ingredients, and the kitchen trash was full of takeout containers clear evidence that the siblings usually didn’t cook at home, opting for unhealthy and unsafe takeout instead.
Oh, and there was also a large bag of vegetable cereal and Korean fire noodles on the counter. Gu Lin’s eyebrows knitted together at the sight, wishing she could throw it all away to keep the siblings from these junk foods.
“Do you like it?”
Gu Lin scooped the golden scrambled eggs onto a plate as the toaster popped up three slices of fragrant, perfectly toasted bread.
“Yes, I do,” Wen Xiu nodded repeatedly before looking up to ask, “Is there anything I can help with?”
Although Sister Lin clearly seemed skilled at cooking, and he might just get in the way, she was still a guest after all. Having a guest cook for them didn’t sit entirely right with Wen Xiu.
“Ah, could you wash the lettuce and tomato for me?”
“Not too much, one of each is enough.”
“After that, please help me wake your sister up.”
“I’d really appreciate that.”
“Leave it to me~”
The boy smiled sweetly, radiating an innocent, unworldly charm that made him look utterly adorable.
Gu Lin chuckled softly and ruffled his soft hair.
He truly resembled a sensitive, fragile little creature just a touch to his head made his face flush crimson, his head dipping so low it nearly buried itself in his chest.
Gu Lin subtly withdrew her hand, thinking that if she’d delayed even a second longer, that overheated kettle of his might have started steaming.
Wen Xiu quickly washed the vegetables Gu Lin needed, dried his hands, and went to Wen Yan’s door, knocking politely twice.
“Sis, are you up?”
“Breakfast is ready~”
Wen Yan, unable to escape reality, opened her eyes in despair. The sunlight outside was blindingly bright, and she had only managed to sleep for a little over four hours.
Regret, she was filled with nothing but regret. Why had she succumbed to irresistible allure and lost all self-control?
Why was she so exhausted when she hadn’t even exerted any effort?
Meanwhile, that person was full of energy, like a fox that had drained her of her vitality.
Her body felt sore and weak, making her reluctant to leave the soft, fragrant comfort of her bed.
“I’m skipping breakfast.”
