The Movie Queen's Silly CEO - Chapter 19
Su Xiu didn’t say anything more, but her gaze toward Mu Qing changed instantly as if Mu Qing were some kind of shameless predator.
Mu Qing was momentarily stunned, but only for a second. She continued calmly folding the underwear and other clothes neatly and placed them at the head of the bed.
“I’m helping Feng Xi tidy up her bed. Is there a problem?” Mu Qing asked.
Seeing Mu Qing’s confidence, Su Xiu was momentarily speechless. No matter what she said, it felt inappropriate. The room fell into a quiet, awkward silence.
The awkwardness didn’t last long. Feng Xi soon finished washing up and even applied light makeup.
When Feng Xi opened the door, she saw Su Xiu standing at the entrance and Mu Qing by the bed. The two exchanged glances but said nothing.
“Su Xiu, good morning,” Feng Xi greeted her.
“Good morning, senior,” Su Xiu replied sweetly, her expression instantly changing to one of innocence. “Since you’re up, why don’t we go grocery shopping together?”
Feng Xi blinked. She vaguely remembered agreeing to go shopping with Mu Qing earlier.
“No need to trouble yourself. I’ll go with Feng Xi,” Mu Qing spoke before Feng Xi could respond. “Miss Su, you don’t look well. You’ve got dark circles under your eyes. Why not take a nap?”
Huh? I have dark circles?
Su Xiu instinctively touched under her eyes. She had gone to bed late last night could she really have dark circles?
“Su Xiu, Mu Qing and I are already ready to head out. Why don’t you rest for a bit and help cook when we get back?” Feng Xi said, still unaware of anything unusual like how her bed was suddenly neatly made.
Hearing Feng Xi’s words, Su Xiu couldn’t argue further. She glared at Mu Qing. “Okay, senior. Be careful on the road and come back soon.”
Just don’t get led astray by that scheming woman handling senior’s underwear like it’s no big deal! That’s so disrespectful! How is she any different from those investors who lust after senior?
Mu Qing had no idea Su Xiu could draw so many conclusions from a single piece of underwear. Even if she did, she wouldn’t care. Mu Qing admitted she was indeed attracted to Feng Xi, but unlike those investors, she wanted Feng Xi to accept her willingly not through coercion.
“Let’s go buy groceries,” Feng Xi said, putting on a warm down jacket and stuffing her hands into the pockets.
“Let’s go,” Mu Qing echoed, mimicking Feng Xi’s gesture. The weather was chilly holding hands wasn’t ideal.
Their driver was still Chen Ning. Seeing Mu Qing and Feng Xi come out together, she smiled with a hint of satisfaction.
That’s right if there’s no opportunity, create one!
The supermarket was nearby. As they entered, warm air surrounded them, instantly dispelling the cold.
“There’s no camera following us now, so feel free to buy more. I’ll pay,” Mu Qing said, recalling Chen Ning’s advice.
When pursuing a girl, spending money isn’t about the amount it’s about showing your willingness to give.
“It’s okay. If the cameraman isn’t around, I can pay myself,” Feng Xi replied with a smile. Mu Qing had already done a lot for her she didn’t want to trouble her over something so small.
Plan A spending money for Feng Xi failed. Mu Qing’s disappointment flashed briefly, unnoticed by anyone.
The cold weather outside wasn’t suitable for hand-holding. Inside the supermarket, Feng Xi focused on selecting items, leaving Mu Qing no chance to hold hands.
“Mu Qing, what’s the difference between these two tomato sauces?” Feng Xi asked, struggling to read the labels.
“Let me see.” Mu Qing, fluent in foreign languages, quickly spotted the difference. “The one on the left is sweeter, the one on the right is more sour.”
Feng Xi thought for a moment. “Which one’s better for pasta?”
Mu Qing considered carefully. “For pasta, it’s best to make fresh tomato sauce.”
“…” Feng Xi blinked twice. “That’s true. Let’s buy tomatoes then.”
Mu Qing touched her nose. Hopefully, her suggestion wasn’t too off.
Feng Xi had wanted to take a shortcut making tomato sauce was a hassle. But since Mu Qing suggested fresh tomatoes, she didn’t want to seem lazy.
Making tomato sauce takes time. With the change in plan, Feng Xi sped up her shopping, asking Mu Qing about product details and tossing items into the cart. Checkout was quick and efficient.
“I’ll help you,” Mu Qing offered, taking the grocery bags. Chen Ning had said that being helpful was another way to show reliability.
Feng Xi glanced at Mu Qing and took her other hand. “Thanks.”
“It’s what I should do,” Mu Qing smiled. Chen Ning, I’m giving you a bonus!
When they returned, the production crew had set up their equipment. Seeing the two return together, they were surprised.
“Ms. Feng, did a cameraman follow you?” the director asked, holding a bowl of noodles.
Feng Xi smiled. “I didn’t see any when I left. I figured they were tired from last night, so I didn’t wake them.”
Seeing Mu Qing behind her, the director said nothing and let her carry the groceries inside.
Since filming had resumed, Mu Qing couldn’t help in the kitchen and watched Feng Xi and Su Xiu work.
“Feng Xi, are these tomatoes for sauce?” Su Xiu asked.
Feng Xi nodded. “We’ll make a simple pasta for breakfast.”
“Got it. I’m great at making tomato sauce,” Su Xiu said, scoring the tomatoes and dropping them into boiling water. “Do you prefer sweet or sour?”
“I’m fine with either,” Feng Xi replied.
“Then I’ll make it sour it’s more appetizing,” Su Xiu decided.
“Okay.” Seeing Su Xiu take over the sauce-making, Feng Xi smiled even more.
Mu Qing regretted her earlier suggestion. She should’ve just picked a flavor instead of suggesting fresh tomatoes!
There’s no undoing it now. Mu Qing sat stiffly on the living room sofa, watching the others emerge from their rooms.
“Morning, President Mu,” Shao Qiushuang greeted, sitting beside her.
Mu Qing glanced at her watch. “It’s already past nine.”
“…” Shao Qiushuang was speechless and quickly changed the topic. “Aren’t you meeting clients today?”
“Clients?” Mu Qing raised an eyebrow. “There are no clients here.”
“Huh? Aren’t you here for business?” Shao Qiushuang asked. “Or are you on vacation?”
Mu Qing shook her head. “Neither. I’m here for Feng Xi.”
Shao Qiushuang wasn’t surprised. “Can I ask what your relationship is with Feng Xi? If it’s inconvenient, you don’t have to answer.”
“There’s nothing inconvenient. We’re friends very close friends,” Mu Qing replied. She hadn’t succeeded in her pursuit yet.
Shao Qiushuang nodded, a bit disappointed but understanding. Feng Xi was exceptional she wouldn’t accept just anyone.
At mealtime, Mu Qing felt even more pitiful.
Five people sat around the table. Feng Xi had Su Xiu on her left and Shao Qiushuang on her right but no seat for Mu Qing.
So where was Mu Qing?
She looked down at her pasta and sighed quietly. Seeing Chen Ning giggling at her phone, Mu Qing sighed again.
“President Mu, something bothering you?” Chen Ning asked. “Didn’t you get to go out alone with Feng Xi today?”
“Besides that, I don’t seem to be able to do much else,” Mu Qing said, setting down her fork. “I can influence the show’s content, but too much interference isn’t good for Feng Xi.”
“Have you heard the saying?” Chen Ning paused her typing.
“What saying?”
“‘Companionship is the longest confession of love,’” Chen Ning said. “Even if you can’t do much now, just being here means Feng Xi will think of you from time to time.”
“Really?” Mu Qing was skeptical.
“Did Feng Xi make this pasta especially for you?” Chen Ning asked, still working toward her matchmaking goals.
Mu Qing nodded. “But Su Xiu and the others are eating the same pasta.”
“That’s different,” Chen Ning said seriously. “This pasta was made with special care for you. You can’t compare it to the others!”
It was a revelation. Mu Qing thought about it and agreed suddenly, the tomato sauce looked even more beautiful.
After lunch, Feng Xi returned to her room to tidy up. Seeing the neatly made bed, she suddenly wondered
Did I make the bed this morning?
