The Movie Queen's Silly CEO - Chapter 14
After successfully completing the first challenge, the five of them got into the business car prepared by the production team.
Seeing that they didn’t need to hail a taxi themselves, Feng Xi began to argue with the production team, insisting on only giving 500 baht for transportation.
“That’s right, I checked the route. The original 1,000 baht was based on the assumption that we’d split into two cars. Now that we’re in one car, the cost shouldn’t be 1,000 baht,” Su Xiu added.
“But this is a chartered car,” the driver said helplessly. “And the vehicle type is different.”
“But it’s still one car,” Su Xiu emphasized. “It doesn’t make sense for the cost to be the same as two cars.”
“Exactly! Even if the fuel consumption is a bit higher, it shouldn’t be 1,000 baht!” Shao Qiushuang chimed in. “If it’s just fuel costs, maybe even 500 baht is too much.”
When women start bargaining, most people can’t hold up let alone when there are several of them. After being bombarded, the driver finally gave in and agreed to charge only 600 baht.
“Yes!” Shao Qiushuang instinctively reached out to high-five Su Xiu.
Su Xiu was a beat late, and only weakly slapped her hand after Qiushuang extended hers.
Qiushuang raised her eyebrows and turned to Feng Xi. “Feng Xi-jie~”
Seeing Qiushuang’s raised hand, Feng Xi smiled and gave her a high-five.
Hmph, so fake. Su Xiu turned her gaze away, finding Qiushuang increasingly annoying like a third wheel!
Their accommodation in Chiang Mai was a standalone villa with two floors and three rooms: one single and two doubles.
Considering Qiushuang’s clinginess toward Feng Xi, Su Xiu quickly spoke up, “I remember Feng Xi-jie is a light sleeper. She should take the single room. The rest of us can pair up: me with Qiushuang, Xiaoxiao with Leran. How’s that?”
Qiushuang originally wanted to fight for a chance to room with Feng Xi, but hearing about her light sleep, she quietly backed off.
“I’m fine with that,” Xu Leran said.
“Me too,” Le Xiaoxiao added.
“Qiushuang, is that okay?” Su Xiu asked sweetly.
“Of course,” Qiushuang smiled. “Su Xiu is my senior, after all. I’d love to bond more.”
Sleeping alone wasn’t a bad thing, so Feng Xi naturally didn’t object.
After a cheerful dinner, the five split up to unpack and do their own things.
Perhaps because of her senior status, once Feng Xi closed her door, no one disturbed her.
There were no cameras in the guests’ rooms. After washing up, Feng Xi collapsed on the bed, put on a face mask, and started scrolling Weibo.
Suddenly, her hand froze she saw the time and realized something.
Oh no, she forgot something!
She had promised Mu Qing to check in. Feng Xi quickly sat up and opened WeChat.
Mu Qing hadn’t messaged her yet.
Seeing no red dot on the pinned chat, Feng Xi wasn’t sure if she felt relieved or disappointed.
Forget it. Mu Qing is busy enough. It was already considerate of him to remind her to report in before she left.
Feng Xi typed a proper message:
Feng Xi: Today was the first day of filming. We’re in Chiang Mai, Thailand. We’ve arrived at the accommodation, and filming went smoothly.
Before she could exit the chat, Mu Qing replied:
Mu Qing: Okay. Stay safe.
Mu Qing: Good night.
Feng Xi: Good night.
Seeing the brief exchange, Feng Xi felt a bit deflated.
Seven words without punctuation pretty perfunctory.
She lay on the bed for fifteen minutes, then removed her mask and fussed over her face in the mirror.
Mu Qing seemed to like her face and body. What if she wasn’t as attractive in a few years? Would he still like her?
Feng Xi rarely worried about her looks, but seeing faint dark circles under her eyes, she quickly applied eye patches and got ready to sleep during the golden hours.
“The sun is shining, the flowers smile at me, the birds say good morning…”
What the heck? Feng Xi frowned, got up with messy hair, and searched for the noise.
“Good morning, Feng Xi-jie,” Qiushuang yawned, her eye mask pushed up to her forehead.
“Morning,” Feng Xi squinted and unplugged the speaker in the living room.
“Huh? The sound stopped?” Xu Leran ran downstairs barefoot. “Is there a mission?”
“Mission?” Feng Xi rubbed her eyes and noticed a new task card on the dining table.
“Congratulations on completing the first challenge. Unfortunately, the chef originally assigned to you has left. You must use the available ingredients to prepare lunch and dinner,” Feng Xi read aloud.
Qiushuang leaned in. “So we have to cook?”
“Seems like it.” Feng Xi handed her the card. “Let’s wash up first and then discuss.”
Cooking wasn’t hard for Feng Xi. Her skills weren’t amazing, but she could whip up several home-style dishes.
But this didn’t feel like a real challenge. The production team wouldn’t be that kind.
After washing up, they were ready to cook only to find the fridge nearly empty.
Well, not completely. There were five eggs.
“So these five eggs are our ingredients?” Xiaoxiao was shocked. “One egg per person is that enough?”
“No way. Even when I’m dieting, I need two eggs and milk per meal,” Leran said.
“Probably because we earned money yesterday, so the crew didn’t prepare food,” Su Xiu speculated.
Feng Xi nodded. That matched the crew’s usual trickery. Not even bowls and chopsticks clearly trying to drain their wallets!
“Should we split up or go together to buy groceries?” Feng Xi asked.
“I’m not great with foreign languages,” Leran raised her hand. “I was an art student.”
“Me too,” Qiushuang added.
“I’m okay with English,” Xiaoxiao said confidently. “I did a year as an exchange student abroad.”
“I can handle daily conversations,” Su Xiu said.
Feng Xi nodded. Her English was decent too. “Who can bargain?”
Xiaoxiao looked away, Su Xiu touched her nose, Qiushuang blinked, and Leran said weakly, “We can go to the supermarket?”
None of them could.
“Okay, I’ll go to the market with Su Xiu. Qiushuang, Xiaoxiao, and Leran go to the supermarket for seasonings and utensils,” Feng Xi assigned. “We only have 4,000 baht. Be mindful of prices save as much as possible!”
“Don’t worry, I’m good with numbers,” Qiushuang assured.
Su Xiu was very pleased with the arrangement and smiled brightly at Qiushuang. “Qiushuang, do your best.”
Qiushuang felt something was off but still smiled and nodded. “Got it.”
The market and supermarket were in different directions, so they split up. Feng Xi and Su Xiu walked, while the others took a car at market rate.
“Senior, have you worked with Qiushuang before?” Su Xiu asked quietly as they walked.
Feng Xi nodded. “Yes, we just wrapped up a project recently.”
“Was she the female lead?” Su Xiu asked. She and Qiushuang hadn’t interacted before they were basically strangers.
“Qiushuang was the lead. I was a supporting role,” Feng Xi explained.
Su Xiu nodded and changed the topic. “I signed up to audition for Director Liu Zhi’s new film. If I pass, maybe we’ll work together.”
Feng Xi asked, “Which role?”
“Second female lead,” Su Xiu smiled. “I’ll audition after we return.”
Feng Xi nodded. Second female lead, huh? He Yan Hui only got the fourth female lead.
Since Su Xiu was her junior, she was also He Yan Hui’s junior. If Su Xiu got the role, He Yan Hui’s reaction would be priceless.
Thinking about it made Feng Xi laugh.
Seeing her laugh, Su Xiu smiled too.
Her senior really cared just hearing she might be the second lead made her so happy.
