The Movie Queen's Silly CEO - Chapter 15
Feng Xi had no idea what Su Xiu was thinking. Upon arriving at the market, she immediately began shopping according to the list.
To be fair, both Feng Xi and Su Xiu had decent English skills at least enough to handle grocery shopping without issue.
However, they overlooked a crucial problem: the vendors at the market weren’t professionals and most didn’t speak English. Even if they did, it was only a few basic phrases. For real communication, translation apps were a must.
That’s where the trouble began. Simple purchases could be managed with price tags and gestures, but bargaining? That was a whole different story.
“No, no, no!” The market prices were already set for the general public, and the vendors didn’t entertain haggling. They were precise even when giving change, calculating down to the satang, the subunit of the Thai baht.
This was Feng Xi’s first setback during filming language barriers were such a hassle. She had bargaining skills, but couldn’t use them!
“At least the vegetables here are cheaper than the supermarket,” Su Xiu said, trying to comfort herself.
Feng Xi nodded, though she didn’t feel comforted at all. Things were far from what she had expected.
After half an hour of bustling around, Feng Xi and Su Xiu finally finished shopping. Their hands were full of bags, and they had successfully gathered ingredients for the next two meals. Sticking to a frugal shopping strategy, Feng Xi managed to spend just over 1,000 baht.
While Feng Xi and Su Xiu started washing vegetables, another group returned with their own haul.
“Feng Xi-jie, we bought seven plates, five bowls, five cups, five pairs of chopsticks, and some spoons! Plus some seasonings. It all cost 1,856 baht still under 2,000!” Shao Qiushuang proudly placed the tableware on the table, clearly fishing for praise.
“Oh, we bought over ten types of ingredients and spent around 1,300 baht,” Su Xiu chimed in.
Compared to that, Shao Qiushuang’s spending seemed excessive, so she stopped seeking praise.
“No wonder Feng Xi-jie is so amazing,” Shao Qiushuang quickly changed tactics, offering flattery instead.
Su Xiu rolled her eyes. Such a bootlicker. Technically, she and Shao Qiushuang were from the same company, so flattering her would’ve made more sense.
“Mm, Qiushuang, you did great too. Go boil some water and sterilize the tableware. We’ll use it soon,” Feng Xi replied, immune to the praise, and smoothly changed the topic. “Su Xiu, help me peel the potatoes. I’ll make shredded potatoes later.”
“Okay,” both girls responded in unison.
As the most skilled cook, Feng Xi took on the role of head chef and commander. After another half hour of hustle, she whipped up five or six dishes, solving everyone’s lunch problem.
The production team, to their credit, arranged a leisure outing after squeezing their budget dry. The only requirement was to take a photo with a few people in red clothing.
During this break, the team allowed them to use their own money for shopping.
“Feng Xi-jie, I think this necklace suits you,” Su Xiu quickly picked out a necklace before Shao Qiushuang could, and held it up to Feng Xi. “Want to try it on?”
Feng Xi glanced at it. It was more of a pendant than a necklace.
“Sure.” It was just a simple craft item, not expensive, so Feng Xi didn’t mind.
“I’ll help you put it on,” Su Xiu said with a smile, stepping closer to Feng Xi.
Shao Qiushuang watched with a twinge of jealousy. She hadn’t expected Su Xiu to move so fast. Next time, she’d have to be quicker.
Compared to Feng Xi’s group, Le Xiaoxiao and Xu Leran were in a completely different vibe. They shopped independently.
Le Xiaoxiao, who wasn’t short on money, bought everything she liked without hesitation. If not for the filming constraints, she would’ve bought even more.
Xu Leran, a lesser-known girl group member, was much more cautious. She’d inspect a dozen items before choosing one, comparing prices and picking the best value.
After the shopping spree, Feng Xi ended up with a necklace from Su Xiu and a bracelet from Shao Qiushuang, who insisted on gifting it as a return for a previous gift.
“Feng Xi-jie, I’ve been wearing the bracelet you gave me all the time,” Shao Qiushuang said proudly. “This bracelet is my return gift to you. Please accept it.”
“You gave her a bracelet? You two must be really close,” Su Xiu said with a hint of jealousy, eyeing the bracelet on Shao Qiushuang’s wrist.
She was the proper junior to Feng Xi, after all. Shouldn’t Feng Xi be looking out for her more?
Feng Xi had given her a gift too a jacket but still, she felt a little left out.
Dinner was a simple vegetable and egg noodle dish. Feng Xi and Su Xiu cooked, while the others washed dishes. Soon, everyone was fed.
With time to spare, Shao Qiushuang suggested playing Truth or Dare and pulled out the dice she had just bought, explaining the rules.
“Let’s keep it simple. Highest roll asks the lowest roll a question. Sound good?” she asked excitedly.
It was a fair rule, so no one objected.
As the most senior, Feng Xi rolled first 13 points.
Next was Su Xiu 15 points. Le Xiaoxiao got 10, Xu Leran 12.
“Come on, give me triple sixes!” Shao Qiushuang prayed before rolling.
She got three ones. Letting out a dramatic groan, she collapsed on the couch. “I’m ready, Su Xiu, ask away.”
Su Xiu smiled slyly. “Qiushuang, are you sure you want Truth?”
“Sure, I’ve got nothing to hide,” Shao Qiushuang nodded.
“Alright. What’s the heaviest you’ve ever been, and when?” Su Xiu asked sweetly.
“Ugh…” Shao Qiushuang blinked. Weight and age were a woman’s secrets. Su Xiu was going all in. “Can I change my mind?”
“You can, but if you choose Dare, are you sure you can handle it?” Su Xiu grinned.
“What’s the dare?” Shao Qiushuang asked, still hoping to avoid revealing her past.
Su Xiu’s smile deepened. “Kiss someone for at least three seconds.”
“That’s it?” Shao Qiushuang’s eyes lit up. What a golden opportunity.
“Except Feng Xi-jie,” Su Xiu added.
“Oh.” Shao Qiushuang lost interest. “Fine, I’ll take the dare.”
“Really?” Su Xiu raised an eyebrow.
“Sure. We’re all girls what’s the big deal?” Shao Qiushuang said, walking over to Su Xiu.
Before Su Xiu could react, Shao Qiushuang cupped her face and kissed her, counting silently to three before letting go.
“Qiushuang!” Su Xiu nearly exploded. “I won! Why am I the one getting punished?”
“Punished?” Shao Qiushuang blinked. “We’re all girls. A little kiss is nothing.”
Hmph. That last-minute rule excluding Feng Xi? Su Xiu clearly wanted to embarrass her. Well, two could play that game.
“You should’ve asked first…” Su Xiu muttered.
“Okay, I’ll remember next time,” Shao Qiushuang replied.
Next time? There shouldn’t be a next time!
Su Xiu barely kept her composure, remembering they were still filming.
In the second round, Le Xiaoxiao rolled the highest, and Feng Xi the lowest.
“Feng Xi-senpai, have you ever been in a relationship?” Le Xiaoxiao asked bluntly, unaware that romance was a sensitive topic for celebrities.
“You might not believe it,” Feng Xi replied, “but I’ve been single for over twenty years.”
“So you’ve never dated?” Le Xiaoxiao was surprised. “Those rumors on Weibo were fake?”
“Just marketing accounts stirring things up. We’ve worked together, that’s all just friends,” Feng Xi clarified. She wasn’t into fake dating for publicity.
