The Movie Queen's Silly CEO - Chapter 12
Mu Qing had always been serious in everything she did, and when that attitude was directed toward pursuing Feng Xi, it made her sincerity all the more apparent.
Seeing how thoughtfully and appropriately Mu Qing had arranged everything, Feng Xi couldn’t remain indifferent. Her attitude softened noticeably.
By the end of the meal, the emotional wall Feng Xi had built had crumbled more than halfway, and the creature named Mu Qing had successfully nestled herself inside.
“I heard you’re going abroad for filming in a few days?” Mu Qing asked proactively once they were nearly done eating.
“Mm, it’s for an outdoor variety show produced by the company,” Feng Xi replied, picking up a wet wipe to clean her mouth.
“How many crew members will be following you?” Mu Qing asked.
Feng Xi thought for a moment. “Probably around a dozen.”
Mu Qing continued, “There can be a lot of unexpected situations abroad. Do you need me to assign a personal assistant for you?”
“That’s not necessary. The company should have it covered. There’ll be a lot of us together.” Bringing a personal assistant seemed a bit excessive.
Mu Qing frowned slightly. “Then at least message me every day while you’re away.”
“Huh?” Feng Xi blinked. Reporting her whereabouts didn’t seem like something friends needed to do.
“You’ll be overseas. I’ll worry about you,” Mu Qing said without hesitation. Seeing Feng Xi didn’t object, she took it as agreement. “How’s your foreign language?”
“Well…” Feng Xi rubbed her nose. “When I just graduated, I could converse fluently with foreign teachers.”
“And now?” Mu Qing didn’t catch the hint.
“Now…” Feng Xi gave an awkward laugh. “Basic communication is fine, but anything deeper…”
Since she rarely used English while acting, she’d forgotten most of what she learned.
“Are you sure you don’t need an assistant?” Mu Qing frowned again. Not knowing the language abroad could be troublesome.
“No need,” Feng Xi shook her head. “There’ll be translators with the team.”
Mu Qing didn’t press further and quickly changed the topic, inviting Feng Xi for a walk in the nearby park after dinner.
“Sorry, I’m not really free tonight.” Feng Xi was aware of her popularity. Going to a park without a hat, sunglasses, or mask would likely get her recognized.
Mu Qing looked a bit disappointed. “Alright, then let me drive you home?”
“Okay,” Feng Xi agreed readily.
Mu Qing felt a little more disappointed but quickly adjusted her mood.
On the drive back, Mu Qing drove steadily so steadily that other cars kept overtaking them.
After a meal, drowsiness was inevitable. Since Mu Qing didn’t speak and Feng Xi didn’t initiate conversation, the only sound in the car was soft music.
After twenty minutes, Feng Xi’s eyelids began to droop.
Wait, when did she sleep last night? She’d stayed up reading her script, hadn’t she?
And she’d woken up quite early too.
No wonder she was so sleepy…
As she thought, her eyes slowly closed, her head tilted slightly to the left, and her breathing became steady.
Mu Qing hadn’t spoken, but her gaze had been on Feng Xi the whole time. Seeing her asleep, she drove even more carefully, stretching a 40-minute drive into an hour and a half.
When they arrived at the villa, Mu Qing turned to look at Feng Xi.
After staring for nearly three minutes, Mu Qing unbuckled her seatbelt and reached out to gently tuck Feng Xi’s hair behind her ear.
Feeling Feng Xi’s breath on her hand, Mu Qing licked her lips and couldn’t resist softly stroking her cheek.
“Mm~” Feng Xi frowned slightly, her eyelashes fluttering as if she were about to wake up.
Mu Qing quickly withdrew her hand and asked tentatively, “Feng Xi, are you awake?”
“Huh?” Feng Xi opened her eyes groggily. “Where are we? Oh, we’re at my house?”
“Yes, we’re here.” Since she was awake, Mu Qing didn’t make any more moves and quickly got out of the car.
Feng Xi let Mu Qing open the door for her and took her hand to get out of the seat.
“It’s late now. Be careful on your way back,” Feng Xi reminded.
Mu Qing closed the passenger door, holding Feng Xi’s bag. “I know. Let me walk you upstairs.”
“No need, we’re already at the door.” Feng Xi quickly declined it was already nearly 10 PM.
Mu Qing raised an eyebrow. Without a clear rejection, she wouldn’t change her mind. “Can I rest at your place for a bit? My throat’s a bit dry.”
Feng Xi bit her lip. Since Mu Qing said that, she couldn’t really refuse. “I left in a hurry today, so I didn’t tidy up. Hope you don’t mind.”
Mu Qing smiled. “I won’t mind.”
Feng Xi wasn’t lying she hadn’t cleaned much before leaving, but it was just a few coats on the sofa and a messy coffee table.
“President Mu, would you like juice or mineral water?” Feng Xi quickly tossed the clothes into the bedroom and tidied up.
“Juice,” Mu Qing said, sitting on the sofa and surveying the surroundings. Seeing the single cup and some personal items, she quickly deduced Feng Xi lived alone.
Fresh juice was best. Feng Xi took out the watermelon she’d stored in the fridge yesterday and headed to the kitchen to make juice.
While Feng Xi busied herself in the kitchen, Mu Qing wandered around the living room, eventually ending up in the kitchen.
She didn’t do much just leaned against the wall, watching Feng Xi wash cups, sterilize them, and filter the juice into a glass.
“Eh, President Mu, why are you here?” Feng Xi turned around and was startled to see Mu Qing, nearly spilling the juice.
“I came to see you,” Mu Qing said, washing her hands and helping clean the juicer.
After drying her hands, Mu Qing took the watermelon juice from Feng Xi. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.”
They sat side by side on the sofa, each sipping juice quietly.
The sudden silence was awkward. Feng Xi put down her cup and turned on the TV, relaxing once she heard the sound.
That felt better. As the host, she couldn’t just kick Mu Qing out.
Once Mu Qing finished her juice, she finally spoke. “Feng Xi, rest early tonight.”
“Okay,” Feng Xi replied obediently.
“Remember to message me when you’re abroad,” Mu Qing reminded again.
“…I’ll remember.” Reporting her whereabouts wasn’t a big deal.
Feng Xi walked Mu Qing to the door. “Take care on the road.”
Mu Qing nodded and, while Feng Xi wasn’t paying attention, took her hand and kissed the back of it. “Good night.”
“…Good good night!” Feng Xi quickly pulled her hand back.
Mu Qing smiled, got into the driver’s seat, licked her lips in satisfaction, and drove off.
Seriously, what’s with Mu Qing!
Feng Xi blushed, covering the kissed hand with her other hand, head down, lost in thought.
Once the guests arrived, the filming crew quickly got organized. Feng Xi, pulling her suitcase prepared by Xiao Xin, was the first to arrive at the meeting point.
She had barely sat down when the second and third guests arrived with their suitcases.
“Feng Xi-jie!” the two called out in unison.
“Susu, Qiu Shuang, long time no see,” Feng Xi greeted with a smile.
“Feng Xi-jie, even though we saw each other just a few days ago, I still missed you!” Shao Qiushuang rushed over and hugged her.
Su Xiu, seeing this, put her hand down and quickly took the seat next to Feng Xi.
Coincidentally, Shao Qiushuang and Su Xiu hadn’t interacted much before, but since they were both artists under Lehuang Entertainment, they were sent together.
Before they could chat much, the remaining two guests arrived.
“Hello, Teacher Feng. I’m Xu Leran ‘Le’ as in music,” Xu Leran introduced herself.
“Hello, Senior Feng. I’m Le Xiaoxiao ‘Le’ as in happy,” Le Xiaoxiao followed suit.
This shoot featured five guests: three from Hongchen and two from Lehuang. As the only one who knew everyone, Feng Xi naturally took on the role of icebreaker and introduced everyone.
Shao Qiushuang and Su Xiu were professionally trained actors, the two representatives from Lehuang.
Xu Leran came from a talent show and joined a girl group under Hongchen a year ago. The group’s popularity had waned, so the company arranged this to boost her visibility.
As for Le Xiaoxiao, she studied finance in college and had acted as a second lead in a web drama out of interest. Her father was a senior executive at Hongchen Entertainment she was just dabbling in the industry.
After a round of cliché truth-or-dare, the five quickly bonded. After a cheerful dinner, they boarded a plane to their first destination.
