The Movie Queen's Silly CEO - Chapter 11
“Cut! That’s a wrap!“ The director stood up and was the first to applaud. “I officially announce that Dark Night Pursuit has finished filming!”
“Yay! Hooray!” “Treat us! Director, you’re treating us!”
Seeing the film officially wrapped up, both the actors and crew were overjoyed.
“Sister Feng Xi, we’re done!” The young female lead said excitedly, her eyes sparkling with admiration as she looked at Feng Xi.
“Yes, we’re done.” Feng Xi had finally learned the young actress’s name Shao Qiushuang, only twenty-two years old.
“You were great.” Feng Xi praised her and took the initiative to hug Shao Qiushuang.
Shao Qiushuang blushed quickly, looking thrilled yet cautious. She slowly wrapped her arms around Feng Xi and hugged her back. “Mm, I’ll learn from you, Sister Feng Xi!”
Feng Xi had returned just to reshoot a few scenes. Though she was only involved for less than three days, the crew was still very enthusiastic and invited her to join a final gathering.
“Sister Feng Xi, I signed up for a variety show produced by Hongchen.” During dinner, Shao Qiushuang quickly grabbed the seat next to Feng Xi.
“Did your company arrange it?” Feng Xi asked. She had seen Shao Qiushuang’s name on the backup list and had looked into everyone’s profiles, which is how she learned the young actress’s name.
Shao Qiushuang nodded. “Mm. You’ll be participating too, right?”
“I will.” Feng Xi nodded.
Shao Qiushuang’s smile grew wider. “Then I’ll be counting on you to take care of me, Sister Feng Xi.”
“Sure.” As the most senior among them, it was her job to look after the juniors. Out of the five participants, she had to watch over four.
Mu Qing had been feeling a bit down lately. The reason was simple she couldn’t seem to get Feng Xi to agree to meet.
As the head of the leading company in Ling City, Mu Qing had easily obtained Feng Xi’s schedule. She always chose times when Feng Xi had no engagements, yet Feng Xi still declined.
Was it because Feng Xi didn’t like her? President Mu remained puzzled.
“Chen Ning.” Mu Qing suddenly called out, looking at her assistant who was busy nearby.
“Yes, President Mu?” Chen Ning was organizing documents on the desk.
“Look at me.” Mu Qing put down her papers and sat upright. “What do you think of me?”
Chen Ning blinked. “You want me to evaluate you?”
Mu Qing nodded. “Yes, in detail.”
“President Mu is a very competent leader considerate, generous, excellent in dealing with people. Under your wise leadership, Mu Corporation is bound to reach new heights! Our subsidiaries ”
As a subordinate, how could Chen Ning criticize her boss? Praise, flatter, and compliment that’s the way!
Mu Qing frowned at the first sentence and quickly interrupted when she sensed a rehearsed speech coming. “I’m not asking if I’m a good leader. I want your personal opinion forget our work relationship. What do you think of me?”
“Personally?” Chen Ning raised an eyebrow.
“Yes.” Mu Qing nodded.
Chen Ning thought for a moment. “You’re a good person. Though you don’t talk much and seem hard to approach, you’ve always treated me well.”
“And?” Mu Qing leaned forward. “Why do I seem hard to approach?”
“Because you rarely smile at work and always look serious.” Chen Ning watched Mu Qing’s reaction and continued when she saw no signs of anger. “Except for me, most people in the company are a bit afraid of you.”
“Why?” Mu Qing was confused. “Do I look fierce?”
“Not at all. You’re very good-looking, just… a bit stern. People don’t dare joke around with you.”
Mu Qing touched her face. So she had a serious-looking face. “Do you think I’m likable?”
“Well…” Chen Ning hesitated. “A lot of people admire you.”
“Really?” Mu Qing was skeptical.
“Really!” After all, in most people’s eyes, Mu Qing was a walking gold mine the only downside was that the gold mine was a bit cold.
Mu Qing trusted Chen Ning, who had worked with her for over two years. If Chen Ning said she was popular, then it probably wasn’t her fault.
With that thought, Mu Qing unlocked her phone and opened Feng Xi’s contact. She began typing a message.
Mu Qing: Are you free tomorrow evening? I heard a new restaurant opened nearby. I’d like to invite you to try it with me.
Feng Xi was still in the car when she received the message. She pursed her lips slightly.
“Xiao Xin, am I free tomorrow?” Feng Xi asked.
“Let me check.” Xiao Xin, sitting in the passenger seat, pulled out her notebook. “Sister Feng Xi, you’re free from tomorrow until the day after.”
So she was free. Should she accept or decline? Feng Xi was torn.
She didn’t see a future with Mu Qing, so she had always kept her distance and tried to appear cold.
Refusing once was fine. Twice was a bit much. This was the third time Mu Qing had invited her. Even as a friend, Feng Xi felt it was hard to keep saying no.
Feng Xi: Okay.
Mu Qing had been staring at her phone since sending the message. She saw Feng Xi’s reply immediately.
Mu Qing: I get off work at five. Where do you live? I’ll come pick you up.
That would mean revealing her address. Feng Xi bit her lip. Though Mu Qing had already found out where she lived, telling her directly felt different.
Feng Xi: I’m at Qiuhua Garden, Building 6.
Mu Qing: Okay. I’ll come at six. Is that alright?
Feng Xi: Okay.
Mu Qing: See you tomorrow.
Feng Xi: See you tomorrow.
Satisfied with the reply, Mu Qing smiled faintly. “Chen Ning.”
“Yes, President Mu?” Chen Ning responded immediately.
“You did well today. I’m giving you a raise.” Mu Qing said cheerfully, her tone clearly happy.
“Thank you, President Mu!” Chen Ning beamed.
She didn’t know what she did right, but a raise was always good! One step closer to marrying her sweetheart!
As the end of the workday approached, Mu Qing kept checking the time. Every few minutes, she glanced at her watch.
At 4:59, she stared at the second hand as it ticked from 1 to 12.
Done. Time to leave.
Mu Qing closed her files, grabbed her bag, and headed out like a student rushing out at the end of class.
“President Mu, there’s a report from finance for you to review.” Chen Ning entered the office just as Mu Qing was about to leave.
“Is it urgent?” Mu Qing asked.
“No, just a financial report.”
“Okay, leave it on my desk. I’ll look at it tomorrow.” Mu Qing walked past Chen Ning and headed straight for the door.
Chen Ning blinked and checked the time. Strange. It’s only five o’clock. Why is President Mu leaving already?
Mu Qing was always punctual. She said six o’clock, and it would be six o’clock never late.
“President Mu.” Feng Xi opened the door and saw Mu Qing standing beside the car, one hand in her pocket.
“Feng Xi, you’re here.” Mu Qing pulled her hand out and opened the passenger door for her.
“Thank you, President Mu.”
“You’re welcome.” Mu Qing watched Feng Xi get in and leaned over to fasten her seatbelt.
Feng Xi instinctively held her breath, her body stiffening slightly from Mu Qing’s closeness. Only after Mu Qing closed the door did she exhale, her nose filled with Mu Qing’s scent.
It was familiar a mix of light perfume and natural fragrance, uniquely Mu Qing.
As the car cruised down the wide road, Mu Qing suddenly spoke at a red light. “Feng Xi.”
“Mm?”
Mu Qing turned to look at her and said sincerely, “You look beautiful today. You made my heart flutter.”
The direct compliment made Feng Xi blush. “Thank you.”
“This isn’t just politeness. No need to thank me.” Mu Qing said, and as the light changed, she stepped on the gas.
Classic Mu Qing always straightforward.
Feng Xi smiled but didn’t respond, leaning back in her seat and listening to the music.
With Feng Xi silent, Mu Qing focused on driving. The car was soon filled only with music.
Mu Qing drove smoothly so smoothly that Feng Xi began to feel sleepy and nearly dozed off.
Just before she fell asleep, Mu Qing arrived at the destination. She got out first and opened the passenger door.
“I can do it myself.” Feng Xi’s drowsiness vanished when she saw Mu Qing about to unfasten her seatbelt.
“Hold onto me.” Mu Qing extended her hand. When Feng Xi hesitated, she gently took her hand and helped her out of the car.
“This restaurant usually requires reservations, so I ordered ahead.” Mu Qing held Feng Xi’s hand and followed the waiter, speaking like she was reporting a task
