The Movie Queen’s Charming Little Wife: Feigning Amnesia Online - Chapter 61
Chapter 61
The beauty was right before her eyes, her body partially draped in a soft duvet. This “partially hidden, partially revealed” effect made Lin Mo’s entire body feel itchy with restless energy.
While her mind was flooded with all sorts of R-rated imagery, what actually came out of her mouth was:
“I want… I want to sleep too!”
Xue Luhe’s brows twitched slightly, and the corners of her lips curled into a smile that radiated the charm of a legendary enchantress capable of toppling kingdoms.
“Then come over and sleep, My King…”
The “My King” address sent a bolt of cringe through Lin Mo, instantly shattering the lingering romantic and ambiguous atmosphere.
Caught between laughter and tears, Lin Mo realized she couldn’t take back her words. She stripped off her outer layers, remaining in her T-shirt and trousers, and burrowed into the bed.
Xue Luhe said softly, “Sleeping with clothes on isn’t good for your health.”
Lin Mo pulled the duvet up to her shoulders. Hearing this, she turned her back to the other woman to hide her burning, beet-red face and whispered, “Well, sleeping with a bra on isn’t good for the chest, either.”
It was just a casual retort; she hadn’t expected Xue Luhe to be so obedient. Almost instantly, a black object flew over her head and landed on the carpet!
Lin Mo peeked over and felt goosebumps erupt all over her body: it was the black bra Xue Luhe had been wearing just moments ago!
So, the person radiating heat right behind her now… was completely naked?
It was over! Was it too late to jump off the bed and run away?
Lin Mo trembled, clutching the duvet and carefully pulling it over her head, wanting to bury herself like an ostrich—out of sight, out of mind. However, once the duvet reached her chin, it wouldn’t budge any further.
Xue Luhe’s voice was laced with amusement. “Don’t you want to turn around and look?”
Lin Mo swallowed hard, burying her face into the pillow. She didn’t dare turn around. She was afraid that one look would cause a massive nosebleed, turning this nice hotel room into a crime scene!
Xue Luhe’s seductive voice rose again: “No one else has seen this body. I don’t even take off my underwear in movies.”
Lin Mo stayed perfectly still, playing the role of a statue.
“So you should take yours off too. Sleeping naked is healthy.” Xue Luhe’s voice was like a siren’s whisper, winding its way into Lin Mo’s ears and making her brain feel foggy.
“Don’t worry… I won’t do anything you don’t want me to do.”
Lin Mo thought to herself: I trust you, but I don’t trust myself! Who could resist the temptation of a Best Actress lying naked next to them?!
She wondered what the normally curvaceous Xue Luhe looked like right now… she wanted to see so badly, but she couldn’t. She had to exercise self-restraint. How could she completely lose her defenses now?
Lin Mo remained somewhat rational. She knew that flying to Thailand to find Xue Luhe was already an incredibly ambiguous move. They were one thin layer of paper away from revealing everything, a layer that could be poked through at any moment.
But she didn’t want to poke through it yet!
Being friends with Xue Luhe was comfortable, and this “more than friends, less than lovers” state was also quite nice. Lin Mo had always found it difficult to accept a new stage in a relationship. Once they became lovers, her destiny would be tied to Xue Luhe’s… the thought alone was terrifying.
At that moment, Lin Mo recalled what Xue Luhe had said to her back at the house after watching the five-star chef: “In the future, go do whatever you want. I’ll be behind you, supporting you.”
But right now… Lin Mo wasn’t sure what she wanted to do. Her thoughts were a mess.
Behind her, Xue Luhe seemed to be moving closer. The rustling of the duvet was incredibly clear in the silent room. Even though Lin Mo was clothed, she could feel Xue Luhe getting nearer. That warm body was radiating heat that couldn’t be ignored, gradually enveloping her.
Lin Mo sensitively shrunk back, burying her face further into the pillow. Unfortunately, a pillow is just a pillow; no matter how soft, it couldn’t fully hide her. Her face was almost squashed flat, yet she remained exposed.
Her heart was a mix of panic and anticipation. She didn’t know what would happen next, but she was certain of one thing: this time, she wouldn’t react with a harsh rejection or a fight like before.
“It seems you really don’t want to look… Once, a producer offered 100 million just to have me go topless in a movie, and I refused. This ‘100 million dollar’ sight—you really don’t want to see it?”
Xue Luhe spoke with a smile, as if telling a funny story. But Lin Mo suddenly flashed back to the entertainment news she usually read… how actresses in the industry are often forced into such contracts by producers. Xue Luhe must have endured countless grievances in the past…
The more Lin Mo thought about it, the more her heart ached for her. Keeping her head buried in the pillow, she said slowly:
“Your body shouldn’t be calculated with money.”
The movement behind her stopped. After a moment, Lin Mo’s pores tightened as she felt something press against her back. Her scalp went numb. For a moment, she didn’t know how to react. Her whole body froze, all her senses concentrated on her back.
However, Xue Luhe simply held her from behind, making no further move.
Lin Mo waited and waited. After a long time, she finally began to think: Has she fallen asleep? But in this position, she couldn’t turn around to check without moving.
As she waited, she began to drift off herself. The warm, soft bed was just too comfortable. Just as Lin Mo was on the verge of sleep, Xue Luhe’s voice sounded like a sigh:
“Only you would say that to me. Thank you…”
Lin Mo’s eyes snapped open. Once the words sank in, she couldn’t help but let her lips curl upward.
When she woke up, Lin Mo found that the restriction on her body was gone. She immediately turned around; the other side of the bed was empty. It was so empty she wondered if she had hallucinated the whole thing. Perhaps she had been alone in the room all along?
Fortunately, before long, Xue Luhe walked in from the living room. Lin Mo saw her wrapped only in a bathrobe, with a deep neckline—she likely still wasn’t wearing a bra…
Lin Mo quickly turned her gaze toward the window. “How did you wake up so fast? Did you even sleep just now?”
Xue Luhe sat on the edge of the bed, suddenly very close to Lin Mo. In her peripheral vision, Lin Mo saw Xue Luhe holding out a mint.
“It’s you who slept too long. Where should we go tonight?”
Lin Mo took the mint and popped it into her mouth. The sweet-and-sour orange flavor mixed with the sharp mint scent cleared her foggy brain instantly. She turned to look at the freshly showered, make-up-free Xue Luhe—whose beauty was even more staggering—swallowed hard, and asked:
“It’s Christmas Eve tonight… are you not working overtime?”
Xue Luhe smiled tenderly. “Because I have to spend the holiday with you tonight, all work can wait. Besides, my employees need a holiday too.”
Lin Mo pursed her lips, her mind racing, and countered casually: “Who asked you to accompany me? Clearly, I came all this way to accompany you because I was afraid you’d be too sad alone in a foreign land.”
Xue Luhe gave a light hum, her voice teasing. “Right, right. You’re accompanying me. You’re pitying me in a foreign land. How are you so sweet?”
After finishing the mint, Lin Mo stood up to wash her face and get ready. Once dressed, she headed out with Xue Luhe.
They had already spent the afternoon idling, so it was now dinner time. Xu Lu drove them to a renowned restaurant and found a small private booth designated for couples.
In this booth, the walls were decorated with pink hearts, roses sat on the table, napkins were folded into heart shapes, and there were even romantic figurines of kissing dolls… it was so saturated with the atmosphere of love that Lin Mo could hardly bear to look.
As soon as she entered, she felt awkward. She whispered to Xu Lu, “What’s going on? Why did you find a booth like this…?”
Xu Lu lowered her head respectfully. “Forgive me, it was my oversight. I booked too late, and there were no other booths available.”
Lin Mo gave a soft “Oh,” trying her best not to look at the bizarre decorations as she sat down. But no matter where she looked—the pink heart-shaped fairy lights hanging from the ceiling or the paintings of kissing couples on the walls—it was unavoidable.
Xue Luhe said to Xu Lu, “It’s fine. This booth is great, I like it very much. I’ll give you a bonus later.”
Lin Mo: “…”
How can you be like this? Your intentions are as clear as day. Even if you want to pursue me, you don’t have to be this… tacky, right?
Of course, she couldn’t say any of that out loud, so she sat silently, pretending she hadn’t heard a thing. Xue Luhe handed the menu to Lin Mo with a smile. “See what you’d like to eat.”
Because of the many Chinese tourists in Thailand, many menus had Chinese translations. This place was no exception. As Lin Mo flipped through the menu, her expression grew increasingly strange.
“What kind of dishes are these?”
Lover’s Kissing Fish… The ‘Life With You’ Salad… Match Made in Heaven… Nightly Revelry…
“Did the head chef here study Chinese idioms specifically?” Lin Mo was speechless. She finally picked two dishes based on the pictures and handed the menu back to Xue Luhe.
Xue Luhe took the menu, smiling silently, staring fixedly at Lin Mo. Feeling uncomfortable, Lin Mo touched her face. “Is there something on my face?”
Xue Luhe shook her head.
After a while, the food arrived. It didn’t look as eccentric as the names suggested; it actually looked quite delicious. Lin Mo focused on eating until she suddenly heard Xue Luhe speak:
“It’s Christmas Eve. Do you have a gift prepared?”
Lin Mo froze, struggling to swallow her food. She looked up apologetically. “I forgot…”
Xue Luhe smiled slightly. “I knew it. That’s why I’ve prepared many gifts for you.”
A warm current flowed through Lin Mo’s heart. She gave a silly smile. “You’re such a good person.”
Xue Luhe wrinkled her nose. “No ‘good person cards’ allowed.”
Lin Mo felt her cheeks starting to flush again and quickly lowered her head to continue eating. Once she was almost finished, Xue Luhe tapped a few buttons on her phone.
The booth door opened, and over a dozen restaurant servers—dressed neatly in white shirts and black trousers—filed in with beaming smiles, carrying colorful gift boxes of all sizes.
Lin Mo, still wiping her mouth, was stunned by the spectacle. The servers stepped forward one by one. The first pushed a small trolley, and the others stacked the gifts on top until there was a literal mountain of presents. Amidst the vibrant, lively gift boxes, Lin Mo’s shocked and dazed face peeked out.
“I’m making up for all the Christmas gifts from your first twenty-odd years. If you’re not tired, you can open them all.”
The last server offered her a utility knife.
Lin Mo was at a loss for words. “You’re being such a tycoon… and don’t you think this is a bit tacky?”
A crack appeared in Xue Luhe’s perfect, tender expression. She asked in surprise, “Is it… is it tacky? I looked at a lot of references before deciding on this. You don’t like it?”
As she asked, her face visibly clouded over. She waved her hand to dismiss the servers.
In truth, Lin Mo was incredibly surprised and delighted. Any girl would be thrilled to receive such gifts during a holiday. She knew it was “tacky,” but it was the kind of temptation girls simply couldn’t resist.
She picked up a gift box, her smile radiating warmth, and said to Xue Luhe, “It’s tacky, sure. But how could any girl dislike this? I’m super happy!”
Click.
Xue Luhe took a photo of Lin Mo with her phone. Taken off guard, Lin Mo dropped the gift and tried to grab the phone. “Why didn’t you warn me before taking a photo! This won’t do, the photo is too… oh, actually it looks pretty good. Fine, I’ll allow you to keep this one. But next time, tell me beforehand. No candid shots, I need to prepare!”
Xue Luhe looked up, her eyes seemingly containing ten thousand stars. “From now on, no matter what difficulties I face, I can overcome them just by looking at this photo.”
Lin Mo didn’t say anything. She stood dazed for a moment, then reached out to pat the back of Xue Luhe’s hand. Xue Luhe’s fingers were sensitive; they slid into her palm, and the two were soon holding hands with their fingers interlaced.
Xue Luhe looked up at Lin Mo standing beside her, her voice firm: “With you here, I will become stronger.”
For some reason, Lin Mo’s eyes grew moist. She nodded. “Mhm.”
