The Movie Queen’s Charming Little Wife: Feigning Amnesia Online - Chapter 59
Chapter 59
Two days later, Lin Mo boarded a plane to Thailand.
She had never been abroad before. Xue Luhe’s team handled the entire process for her; all she had to do was pack a simple suitcase, bring her essentials, and follow the driver sent by Xue Luhe to the airport.
Before the plane took off, Xue Luhe squeezed in a video call despite her busy schedule. She asked about every detail, ensuring Lin Mo had everything she needed. Only then did she nod in relief, her face breaking into an uncontrollable smile as she whispered:
“I really can’t wait… I want to see you right now.”
Lin Mo couldn’t help but smile back, though she felt a bit shy. “It’ll be soon. Besides, aren’t you looking at me right now on video?”
Xue Luhe’s smile brightened further. “How can that be the same… the busier I get, the more I miss you, you know? The more chaotic things are, your face just keeps popping up in my head. Sometimes it even annoys me.”
Lin Mo’s heart skipped a beat. She could hear the pulse thrumming in her ears and didn’t know how to respond for a long time. She felt her ears and cheeks gradually heating up—her skin was far too honest about her emotions.
“If I come, will it annoy you even more? Maybe I should just go back?” Lin Mo joked awkwardly, her face red.
“I can only feel at peace if you come. You’re not allowed to go back, or I’ll have someone kidnap you.” Xue Luhe narrowed her eyes playfully, the curve of her lips turning slightly devious.
“Sigh… I guess I have no choice then. I have to go. After all, you have a prior record for kidnapping. For the sake of my life, I have to make this trip!” Lin Mo raised her eyebrows with a half-smile.
“Ah… no, I didn’t mean it like that. You didn’t take that seriously, did you?” Xue Luhe suddenly became alert.
“Guess if I took it seriously?” Lin Mo teased, intentionally hardening her expression.
“…Mo Mo, I’m sorry. It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have made a joke like that. It wasn’t funny at all. I was wrong. You can do whatever you want—if you want to go back, I’ll have someone take you home immediately.”
Xue Luhe’s expression turned dead serious instantly. The apologies poured out of her without a second thought. Looking at her, Lin Mo felt warmed, but also a bit pained. She wanted to ask: Why are you so practiced at apologizing?
“You dummy.” Lin Mo puckered her lips and made a cute face to show she wasn’t angry anymore.
“Yes, I’m a dummy.” Xue Luhe’s gaze was warm and doting. Seeing that Lin Mo truly wasn’t upset, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.
“I’m a dummy too. Why did I agree to come on this trip! It’s complicated and a hassle, I had to use my annual leave, and once I get there, you won’t even have time to play with me. I’m the real dummy here!”
“Don’t forget, coming to spend Christmas with me was your suggestion. Besides, two dummies together make a perfect pair.”
Xue Luhe laughed slyly. Lin Mo was left speechless. After a while, she muttered: “There are traps everywhere when talking to you. Hmph, I’m hanging up! I’m boarding now.”
Xue Luhe smiled tenderly and said, “Stay safe.”
After hanging up, Lin Mo clutched her phone to her chest, her heart a mix of excitement and trepidation. Looking around, she felt her flush was so obvious it might catch the attention of airport security. It’s just a flight, why is my face this red… so embarrassing.
While she felt embarrassed, she secretly savored the feeling. Looking at the other passengers in the VIP lounge—even those in designer suits and expensive jewelry—she felt that in this moment, none of them could experience the thrill and the frantic heartbeat of anticipation she was feeling.
After boarding, Lin Mo found herself in first class for the first time. Everything was a novelty, and she looked around curiously.
To her right sat a fashionably dressed woman with a great figure—slim waist and long legs. She had a rose tucked into her jet-black hair, looking striking and unique. Lin Mo couldn’t help but steal a few glances, feeling the beauty looked somewhat familiar.
The woman noticed the gaze, swept a cold look over Lin Mo, and turned back nonchalantly to her tablet. Lin Mo immediately retracted her gaze.
During the long flight, Lin Mo had nothing to do. Watching movies on her phone felt dull because of her nerves. Her eyes accidentally drifted to her neighbor’s screen again, and she realized the beauty was watching a movie starring Xue Luhe!
Lin Mo had spent her bored evenings lately watching most of Xue Luhe’s filmography. She recognized instantly that the woman was watching an obscure, early-career indie film. This meant she was likely a hardcore, long-time fan.
Lin Mo licked her lips excitedly but didn’t want to interrupt someone wearing headphones. She could only steal glances at the screen to admire Xue Luhe’s youthful, legendary beauty.
Fortunately, it wasn’t long before a flight attendant arrived with a cart. “Hello, we have special desserts and drinks for first class. Would you like anything?”
Lin Mo nodded. The attendant placed the tray on Lin Mo’s table and then asked the woman next to her. The woman didn’t move, so Lin Mo took the chance to gently tap her. When she turned around, Lin Mo smiled brightly: “The attendant is asking if you want dessert or a drink.”
The woman looked at the attendant, shook her head coldly, and then glanced at Lin Mo. Instead of gratitude, her look held a hint of annoyance.
Lin Mo: ???
The woman quickly went back to her movie, constantly pausing and zooming in on Xue Luhe’s face on the screen, admiring every detail.
Lin Mo tutted inwardly. So she’s a “face-con” fan. Looking at the way she wanted to inspect every pore on Xue Luhe’s face… that glare just now was probably because Lin Mo had dragged her out of her “perfect beauty” world.
Tsk, such obsession. If a star like Xue Luhe revealed their relationship—no, their marriage—would it crush these hardcore fans? Probably. There would definitely be a massive wave of fans turning into antis, likely on a scale far larger than the current scandal being stirred up by competitors.
Lin Mo’s thoughts drifted, and she soon grew drowsy. She asked for a blanket and fell into a deep sleep.
When she woke up, it was dark. The plane was cruising through thick clouds, and the announcement sounded: “Passengers, we will soon be arriving at our destination…”
Lin Mo rubbed her eyes. Her intense anticipation was suddenly mixed with a trace of nerves.
“Homesickness upon nearing home”—that was probably the feeling. They hadn’t seen each other in person for over a month. Though they had video called, she felt she had gained a little weight lately. Would Xue Luhe find it strange? And with Xue Luhe being so busy, would her arrival just be a distraction?
Before she could think much more, the plane landed.
Being in first class, she was among the few to deplane first. The beauty who had sat to her right brushed past her with a proud, cold demeanor, taking the lead. Lin Mo followed behind with lagging steps, her hand holding her luggage trembling slightly. She followed the signs out of the airport, feeling the walk was far too short.
Xue Luhe hadn’t said if she was coming to pick her up. She was so busy, she probably wouldn’t… and it might cause a traffic jam. After all, Xue Luhe was quite controversial lately… it was probably better if she didn’t show up.
Lin Mo had almost convinced herself to let go of the expectation. Yet, as she walked out of the exit, she couldn’t help but search the crowd.
Mhm… as expected, she’s not here. There was only a young man holding a sign with two cold, printed words: “Lin Mo.”
Lin Mo walked over with her suitcase and spoke to him. He took her bag, and she followed him out of the airport.
The tropical warmth gave Lin Mo a bit of a shock. Even though she had checked the temperature and dressed in thin layers, she hadn’t expected Thailand to be this sultry tonight! She felt like she was about to start sweating and couldn’t take off her clothes in public. Enduring the discomfort, she followed the man through a long corridor until the view suddenly opened up.
Under the night lights, a figure stood tall and elegant beneath a streetlamp, one hand in a pocket, the hem of her clothes fluttering in the breeze.
Lin Mo’s heart hammered frantically, driving her legs to speed up. By the time she reached the figure, she was almost running.
It was the person she had thought about every day for a month! Just from the silhouette, she knew it was her!
While still a distance away, Lin Mo spread her arms. When she reached her, she “braked” and double-checked carefully. Yes, it was Xue Luhe!
Then, Lin Mo’s face broke into a huge, radiant smile.
Opposite her, Xue Luhe was also smiling tenderly. She lowered her head slightly, her eyes full of deep affection, staring at Lin Mo for a long time. Neither knew what to say at first, yet both felt as if words were unnecessary; everything was being communicated through their gaze.
Lin Mo, her arms still open, laughed for a while before saying: “My arms are getting tired from holding them up!”
Xue Luhe blinked, laughed suddenly, and reached out to pull Lin Mo into a tight embrace.
Lin Mo wrapped her arms back around her, feeling a void in her heart finally being filled. She breathed in the familiar cool fragrance of Xue Luhe’s body. The warmth in her arms made the month of worry vanish. As long as she could actually hold Xue Luhe, nothing else mattered.
It’s so good… she’s still here, she’s okay, and I’m holding her.
The two embraced outside the airport for a long time before letting go, getting into the car, and heading toward the hotel.
It was very late. Once they were in the car, the exhaustion on Xue Luhe’s face could no longer be hidden. She forced herself to talk to Lin Mo, asking about her trip. Seeing how tired she was, Lin Mo patted her shoulder compassionately.
“If you’re really sleepy, sleep for a bit. I’ll lend you my shoulder.” She straightened her petite shoulder and gave a confident smile.
Xue Luhe laughed softly but didn’t refuse. Her body hadn’t fully recovered, and she had been pushing herself all day. There was no need to keep up the facade in front of Lin Mo.
Xue Luhe rested her head on Lin Mo’s shoulder and soon her breathing became steady. Lin Mo sat upright, not daring to move an inch, her hands on her knees and a wide smile on her face.
She felt the journey didn’t seem as long as she had imagined. She also felt glad she came; otherwise, how would she have spent the upcoming holidays alone?
Xue Luhe… how can she be so charming and cute?
They say it’s not scary to think someone is beautiful or attractive, but the moment you start finding them “cute”… you’re probably truly fallen.
