On her very first night driving for a ride-hailing service, Wei Xi nearly runs over a woman.
The woman is dressed like someone from ancient times, wearing armor and sporting a high ponytail of black hair. She is strikingly beautiful, yet carries an unmistakably heroic air.
Wei Xi helps her into the car, only to have the woman wake up and press a sword against her throat, coldly demanding to know which faction had sent her.
Wei Xi assumes she has encountered a lunatic.
Later, however, several copper coins the woman leaves behind are identified as antiques. Someone even offers twenty thousand yuan for a single coin. Wei Xi thinks the buyer must be the crazy one.
Before long, she discovers the truth:
Nobody is crazy.
Her ride-hailing car can actually travel to ancient times.
And every trip takes her to the same passenger.
The passenger is Ye Fengyu, a young general. One night, after getting a good look at Wei Xi’s car, Ye Fengyu declares that Wei Xi must be an immortal and that her vehicle is a heavenly carriage.
The praise leaves Wei Xi blushing.
What makes her heart race even more are the items the young general shyly uses as payment. Once brought back to the modern world, every one of them turns out to be a priceless antique worth hundreds of thousands or even millions.
By driving her mysterious taxi, Wei Xi becomes rich overnight.
Of course, she doesn’t take advantage of Ye Fengyu’s generosity. After learning that the young general has been sentenced to exile, she begins transporting supplies to her: instant noodles, biscuits, self-heating hot pots, and countless other necessities.
Load after load, she delivers aid across time.
The steadfast general, who would rather shed blood than tears, finds her eyes reddening again and again. She insists she has no way to repay such kindness.
Smiling, Wei Xi lifts the general’s chin.
The usually stern and disciplined soldier suddenly looks flustered. Her long lashes tremble, her eyes turn pink around the edges, and her soft lips make her seem unexpectedly vulnerable.
“No way to repay me?” Wei Xi teases. “Then marry me.”
It is meant as a joke.
To her shock, the rigid young general immediately begins removing her armor and loosening her hair.
Dark locks cascade over shoulders as pale as snow, while countless scars silently tell the story of her battlefield glory.
This fierce warrior trembles slightly in the night. With awkward determination, she settles herself on Wei Xi’s lap, wraps her arms around Wei Xi’s neck, and blushes deeply.
“Very well,” she says softly. “As long as the immortal does not mind.”
Later, Wei Xi learns just how gentle and affectionate the formidable general can be.
