The Movie Queen’s Charming Little Wife: Feigning Amnesia Online - Chapter 19
Chapter 19
The party was buzzing with gossip as Xi Shen, frowning deeply, shoved her phone back into her pocket and strode toward the private lounge. The onlookers gaped, unable to believe the level of drama unfolding before them.
“Wow… this party was worth the trip. That Mu Fei is quite the vixen…”
“I’m so jealous of Mu Fei! I want Xue Luhe to snatch me away and then have Xi Shen burst in to rescue me! I’d shout, ‘Stop fighting for me!'”
“I really don’t get what Xue Luhe sees in her. She’s been mentoring Mu Fei since her debut, even though Mu Fei is just from an ordinary family. Now she’s hooked Xi Shen too. This woman is incredible.”
Because it was a themed costume party, the outfits were striking. Xue Luhe was in her edgy leather look with smoky eyes. Xi Shen, by contrast, wore a floral print gown—flamboyant and tropical. It was a sharp contrast: pure black versus vibrant reds and greens.
The Interrogation
Inside the lounge, Xue Luhe didn’t use much strength, but she easily pushed Xi Shen out of the doorway and slammed the door shut. She turned an icy gaze toward Mu Fei, forcing the girl to back up until she sank onto the sofa.
Mu Fei sat with her white dress spread out, her long hair cascading over her shoulders, her eyes wide and innocent. “What’s wrong? Do you not believe me?”
Anyone else might have been charmed by that gentle voice, but Xue Luhe wasn’t “anyone else.” She pulled over a chair, sat opposite Mu Fei, and turned on her phone’s flashlight, placing it on the coffee table so the beam hit Mu Fei’s face directly—like a police interrogation light.
“Put your hands down and answer my questions,” Xue Luhe commanded as Mu Fei tried to shield her eyes.
“You said Lin Mo set you up. When? Specifically, what time?”
“I… it was September 25th, around 10:30 PM, when I was returning to the hotel…”
“Which district? Which hotel? Room number. Be precise.”
“Grand Hyatt… Qingzhang District. The room number… I forgot…”
Without taking her eyes off Mu Fei, Xue Luhe called her assistant. “Check Mu Fei’s schedule for September 25th and her room number at the Grand Hyatt.”
Mu Fei bit her lip, panic flaring. “Ms. Xue, I didn’t expect you to go this far for Lin Mo. Are you… actually falling for her?” Hidden in her eyes was a deeper question: If you’re serious about her, what about my offer to be your ‘kept woman’?
Xue Luhe leaned back, a mocking smile on her face. “Since when is my business any of your concern?” She leaned forward suddenly, her presence suffocating. “Are you that desperate to climb the ladder?”
Mu Fei went silent, her heart pounding. This night was supposed to be a trap set by her and Xi Shen to provoke Xue Luhe into making a public scene. Any impulsive behavior from Xue Luhe would tank her stock prices and help Xi Shen’s struggling projects. But the plan was failing. Xue Luhe wasn’t acting like the “madman” they knew; she was eerily calm.
The results arrived on Xue Luhe’s phone. She glanced at them and smirked. “Your room number was 3102. A Presidential Suite with gold-carved tables and gold sheets. Coincidentally, the ‘scandalous’ photos of Lin Mo were also taken in a room with gold decor.”
“She tried to confess to Xi Shen and failed, so she found another woman that night,” Mu Fei blurted out. “Even if you have photos, it shows Lin Mo has no self-respect—”
“Even if she’s just a dog I’m keeping,” Xue Luhe interrupted coldly, “you don’t have the right to judge her.”
The Rescue and the Empty House
Suddenly, Xi Shen burst in with a group of security guards. Mu Fei jumped up and threw herself into her arms. “Xi Shen! You came for me!”
Xi Shen comforted her, stroking her hair while glancing at Xue Luhe. Seeing Xue Luhe’s eyes fixed on Mu Fei, Xi Shen let out a small, triumphant smile. Mu Fei was escorted out, pausing at the door to say, “Senior Xue, I know you were just anxious. I don’t blame you.”
After they left, Xi Shen stayed behind. “Ms. Xue, I respected you, but you’re trying to destroy me. That project is a lifeline for me, but just a trifle to you. Why steal it?”
“I just don’t like the sight of you,” Xue Luhe replied flatly.
As she walked past Xi Shen to leave, Xue Luhe reached out and touched Xi Shen’s bare shoulder, her voice suggestive: “The last person who tried to guess my heart… do you want to know what happened to him?” She didn’t wait for an answer.
When Xue Luhe’s car pulled up to her villa, the gates were wide open. The entire household staff—butler, maids, gardeners, chefs—stood in a line, trembling.
“Ms. Xue,” the butler stammered, “I’m sorry… she opened the gate herself. We saw it on the monitor and rushed over, but she got into a car… we couldn’t catch them.”
Xue Luhe ignored him and strode into the house. She walked through the lobby, the guest rooms, and finally the master bedroom. The house felt cavernous and cold. On the bed lay a single light blue T-shirt—Lin Mo’s makeshift pajamas.
Lin Mo had taken her wallet but left behind the jewelry and valuables. Her ID and bank cards were still locked in Xue Luhe’s study. Out the window, the damaged pink car sat like an eyesore.
“Ms. Xue, should we call the police?” the butler asked.
Xue Luhe paused, a faint, joyless smile touching her lips. “No. She’s just someone who betrayed me. No need to look. We’ll just divorce when the time comes.”
She dismissed the staff. Once the house was empty, she stood in the center of the living room, then walked into the small bar. The glass Lin Mo had used was still there. Xue Luhe stared at the dried pink residue of the cocktail—like a dried tear.
Suddenly, she swept her arm across the bar, sending every bottle, glass, and shaker crashing to the floor. Crash! She stood amidst the shards of porcelain and pools of expensive liquor, her eyes dark.
She pulled out her phone and called her head secretary, Xu Lu. “Find her. Check everything. If you don’t find her, don’t bother coming back.”
A New Hideout
Meanwhile, Lin Mo was in a car, feeling a mixture of terror and excitement. She had tucked a small fruit knife from the kitchen into her waistband for protection. For the first time in weeks, she was seeing the world—the traffic, the tall buildings, the sunlight.
The driver was silent, only saying: “Don’t worry, we aren’t bad people.”
They eventually reached a high-end suburban villa complex. The driver led her to a modest two-story house. When the door opened, Lin Mo gasped.
“Lu Ruoruo!”
“Ah! You’re finally here! I’ve been waiting forever!” Ruoruo pulled her inside.
“Ruoruo… what is going on?” Lin Mo asked.
“I’ll tell you tomorrow! For now, just rest, heal your leg, and we’ll get you a new ID. It’s perfect!”
Lin Mo frowned. “Is this place safe? Will Xue Luhe find me?”
“Totally safe! She’ll never find you here!”
Lin Mo spent the night chatting with Ruoruo and eating crawfish. At midnight, she lay down in a soft guest bed. For the first time, she didn’t have to fear waking up next to a “psycho.” She fell into a deep, peaceful sleep.
However, back in her brightly lit study, Xue Luhe was staring at a tablet. Her phone rang.
“Ms. Xue,” Xu Lu’s voice was weary but certain. “We found her.”
Xue Luhe’s eyes narrowed into a thin smile. “Send me the location.”
