The Movie Queen’s Charming Little Wife: Feigning Amnesia Online - Chapter 12
Chapter 12
“This piece is a pre-show model from Paris Fashion Week; it hasn’t even debuted yet! The designer sent it over immediately when they heard Ms. Xue wanted it. Take a look!”
“Miss, please look over here. This full set was handcrafted by the Italian master designer Capucci himself—the only one of its kind in the world! It complements your skin tone perfectly!”
“Look at this one; the bag, shoes, and jewelry are all from the same brand. Hand-stitched by artisans, the embroidery took a dozen seamstresses a whole month. It perfectly suits your noble and elegant temperament!”
Inside the villa lobby, with every step Lin Mo took, she was greeted by an incredibly enthusiastic professional shopping guide. There were even specialized designers coming over to chat, asking what she liked so they could offer custom designs.
Lin Mo could only respond with a firm triple-refusal: No, it’s fine, thank you; I’m just looking; no need to trouble yourself. She almost felt like she was back at a shopping mall.
However, this setup was far more intense than any ordinary mall. In a typical high-end store, there are many customers coming and going, so guides don’t need to be this aggressive. But here, Lin Mo was the only customer. The guides had to put in their utmost effort to win her over.
Lin Mo experienced the feeling of being the center of attention, and she hated it. She wanted to find a place to hide. Unfortunately, her slow, limping pace meant she moved like a flower dragging a swarm of bees behind her.
Xue Luhe stood high on the staircase, watching silently, her eyes dark and unreadable. Her phone vibrated. It was Xu Lu.
“Chairman Xue, I’ve found something. There is indeed a connection to Xi Shen. Furthermore, a month ago, Xi Shen met with Lin Mo privately. No one knows what they discussed.”
Xue Luhe’s gaze remained fixed on Lin Mo’s back. Her voice was steady and slow, like a venomous snake tasting the air. “Her identity… is it confirmed?”
Xu Lu replied, “On the surface, her identity is real. As for whether there are other issues beneath the surface, I will continue to investigate thoroughly.”
Xue Luhe spoke coldly. “Don’t hold back. Dig deep. I want concrete evidence.”
Xu Lu hesitated before adding, “Chairman Xue… regarding the project competition with Xi Shen’s company… should we continue? Prices have been pushed to the absolute limit. Any lower and our company might suffer losses. Ms. Mu Fei pleaded for him last time; have you considered letting it go? There’s no need to lose money just to hit her.”
Xue Luhe’s tone didn’t change, but her words made Xu Lu’s blood run cold. “You are merely my assistant. Don’t say things you shouldn’t say.”
Xu Lu’s scalp tingled. She was about to apologize when she heard the icy, threatening follow-up—like magma hidden beneath a layer of frost.
“You’ve seen how I treat traitors. Do you want to try it as well?”
Xu Lu’s tongue felt numb. She struggled for a moment before apologizing profusely. “No, no, no… that’s not what I meant, Chairman Xue. You know my loyalty to you and the group…”
Xue Luhe’s cello-like voice flowed smoothly. “Mind your words and your actions. Go do your work.”
Hanging up, Xu Lu was drenched in cold sweat. She rubbed her temples, which were throbbing with pain. This was Xue Luhe. Fans praised her for being “forthright and candid,” but no one knew what she was capable of when dealing with a “traitor.” The last high-achieving graduate who dared to steal company secrets had been driven to a mental breakdown and was now sleeping under a bridge.
Xu Lu reminded herself: Mind your words and actions! Then, she opened Lin Mo’s files to look for any other suspicious details.
The Fitting Room
“Could you all let me rest for a moment, please?” Lin Mo negotiated with the guides. She finally managed to clear them away and sat in a corner chair, sipping bayberry juice brought by a maid.
Xue Luhe walked over. Lin Mo looked up, her eyes blinking pleadingly. “Can you ask them to leave? I don’t need many clothes. These are too expensive—one dress costs as much as a car.”
Xue Luhe sat in the chair beside her and gave a faint smile. “I thought you had amnesia. How do you remember the price of cars?”
Lin Mo’s eyes darted away for a split second before she countered confidently, “I saw an ad on my phone!”
Xue Luhe smiled, appearing gentle and easygoing, and didn’t press further. Lin Mo took a large gulp of juice to calm her nerves. She felt like Xue Luhe was plotting something—this woman was definitely up to no good.
Of course, Lin Mo thought, counting on her to have a good heart is less reliable than counting on myself to get fit enough to climb out a window.
Her facial expressions changed as she thought. Xue Luhe suddenly asked, “Are you cursing me in your head?”
Lin Mo instinctively nodded, then realized and shook her head violently. Xue Luhe didn’t speak again. Her gaze softened as she looked Lin Mo up and down, saying meaningfully, “85, 57, 90… quite standard.”
It took a moment for Lin Mo to realize those were her measurements. “I don’t remember my measurements,” she said truthfully; she really didn’t know the stats of this body.
Xue Luhe beckoned two guides over. “Take that one, that one, and this one. Send them to the room.”
A guest room on the first floor was converted into a temporary fitting room. The guides led Lin Mo inside. There were three outfits: a romantic floral dress, a slim-fit white shirt dress, and a soft-style skirt suit.
Xue Luhe had impeccable taste. Lin Mo loved all three and spent a long time admiring herself in the mirror. This body looked very much like her original face. In normal clothes, she looked exactly like the Lin Mo from her previous world.
Looking at the familiar reflection, Lin Mo’s eyes grew misty. It had been less than a week, but it felt like forever. The memory of her mother’s face, her friends, her career… they were all becoming blurred. She knew she no longer belonged to that world.
She touched the mirror and forced a smile, whispering, “Keep going…”
Before she could wipe away a stray tear, the door opened. The rhythmic tap of high heels told her it was Xue Luhe. She quickly wiped her eyes and turned around. “Why did you come in?”
Xue Luhe held a magnificent necklace. She walked up to Lin Mo and adjusted her collar. “Try this with the floral dress.”
Lin Mo didn’t want to undress in front of her, but the room was small. She picked up the dress, turned her back, and whispered, “Turn around. Don’t look at me.”
Xue Luhe gave a mocking laugh but obeyed. “Fine. Whatever my wife says, I do.”
Lin Mo was immune to the “wife” talk by now. She quickly swapped her clothes. Behind her, Xue Luhe stared at the slender, youthful back in the mirror, her lips curving. She had no intention of looking away. In this house, everything belonged to her—including this beautiful body.
Lin Mo finished and turned around shyly. “Okay.”
Xue Luhe’s eyes brightened. She even clapped her hands, offering a rare compliment: “Beautiful!”
Lin Mo was petite but well-proportioned. The fresh green waist-cinching dress made her legs look long and her neck elegant. Her round apricot eyes were clear like lake water after her brief cry, and her small nose was slightly red. She looked like a soft, (moe) little rabbit. This was a vibe the “old” Lin Mo never had.
Xue Luhe loved this type. What a perfect plaything to control…
Xue Luhe reached out both hands, wrapping them around Lin Mo’s neck from behind. The atmosphere turned heavy, the air humid. Xue Luhe’s breath fell on Lin Mo’s skin like starlight.
She looped the necklace around Lin Mo’s neck and fastened it with a soft click.
Lin Mo was still shivering from the proximity when she suddenly felt those cold hands tighten around her throat. Then… the hands gripped harder and harder, gradually making it difficult for her to breathe.
