The Movie Queen’s Charming Little Wife: Feigning Amnesia Online - Chapter 11
Chapter 11
The sound of the water was faint, swirling and deep, as if intentionally muffled—pitter-patter, drip-drop.
Lin Mo sat up to glance toward the bathroom, then lightly touched the clothes left on the bed. As she imagined, they felt cool and silky, incredibly comfortable. Looking down at her own plain, long cotton T-shirt, she felt a pang of self-pity.
When Xue Luhe had thrown away her makeup last time, she had tossed out more than half of Lin Mo’s wardrobe along with it. Though they were all exaggerated pieces—necklines plunging to the navel, patterns cluttered with sequins—it meant she now had nothing to wear. She was forced to sleep in an oversized T-shirt, without even a proper pair of pajamas.
But then again, she didn’t need to overthink it; she wasn’t allowed to leave the house anyway. Dressing like a mess indoors was fine. Still, looking at Xue Luhe’s expensive, tactile clothing… what girl wouldn’t be envious?
Lin Mo sighed and sat in a daze on the bed, waiting for Xue Luhe to finish so she could go in and freshen up. Just as she was nodding off again, the water finally stopped.
Xue Luhe emerged wrapped in a bath towel, barefoot, her feet making rhythmic patter-patter sounds against the floor. As she stepped onto the carpet, she left wet footprints that, combined with the droplets falling from the tips of her hair, looked like blooming flowers.
Lin Mo snapped awake and stole a glance at the beautiful woman, half-exposed her figure was perfectly balanced, her skin porcelain-white. Only the ends of her hair were damp, and her features were flawless, her eyes as bright as stars.
Ahhh, she’s too beautiful. The nosebleed… the nosebleed is coming back!
Lin Mo lowered her head, not daring to look further, and tried to pull the quilt over herself.
Xue Luhe let out a cold snort. “What are you afraid of? We’re both women; the parts are all the same.”
Muffled under the quilt, Lin Mo grumbled internally: The parts might be the same, but yours were produced by a world-class top-tier factory, while mine look like they were DIY-ed by a guy at a roadside hardware store… How can they be the same?!
Xue Luhe asked, “What do you want for breakfast?”
As she spoke, Lin Mo felt something heavy drop onto the quilt. It took her a second to realize—Oh my god, is she planning to change right here by the bed? She must have dropped the towel. Isn’t she… naked right now?
The mere thought of such a beauty changing nearby made Lin Mo’s nose and heart throb in unison. It was sheer torture. Her brain was fried. She could only manage a muffled, “Anything… anything is fine.”
Xue Luhe was indeed changing. Having tossed the towel onto the bed, she reached for a set of loungewear and slipped it on. Then, seizing an opening, she yanked the quilt off Lin Mo’s head!
Lin Mo reacted with lightning speed, covering her eyes with her hands. “Impure thoughts! Don’t look! Don’t look!”
Xue Luhe chuckled. She reached out and, gently but firmly, pried Lin Mo’s fingers apart one by one.
“You, you, you! You’re annoying!” Lin Mo was finally forced to let go. she peeked through her eyelashes and saw that Xue Luhe was already wearing a slip dress. She let out a massive sigh of relief, then shot a glare at Xue Luhe.
However, she saw Xue Luhe smiling. A porcelain-white hand reached for her shoulder, and the strap of the dress was pulled down, inch by inch.
Lin Mo averted her gaze and scrambled to get out of bed. Because of her leg, it took her forever to find her slippers and reach the floor. As she made a clumsy run for the bathroom, she couldn’t help but look back once more. Xue Luhe had pulled the strap all the way down to her wrist.
Yikes… half of… that… is showing. This level of sexiness is over the limit!
Lin Mo dove into the bathroom and slammed the door, locking the “Beautiful Demon King” outside. She shouted through the door: “Don’t you have to go to work?!”
Xue Luhe’s voice was even louder, her pronunciation perfect. “To stay with you, I changed my filming schedule!”
Lin Mo curled her lip. As if. Who would believe she stayed for company? This woman just wanted to watch Lin Mo slip up and treat her like a joke. She used house arrest and violence in practice, but her mouth ran like a runaway train with sweet talk. Did she really think Lin Mo didn’t know what she was thinking?
I only look stupid. Playing dumb is a survival strategy; I’m not actually an idiot.
The Shopping Mall at Home
By the time Lin Mo finished her bath, the breakfast table was overflowing. There were Chinese options soup dumplings, steamed buns, fried dough sticks, and congee and Western options bacon sandwiches, scrambled eggs, sausage, coffee, and milk.
Xue Luhe was already seated. Seeing Lin Mo, she beckoned. “Come eat. I have something to ask you afterward.”
Lin Mo lost her appetite instantly. She sat down with a stiff expression. “Ask now. Otherwise, I won’t be able to digest.”
Xue Luhe rested her chin on her interlaced fingers—a classic negotiation pose. Her eyes turned deep. “Think carefully… on the day you cheated, what actually happened?”
Lin Mo frowned. “I have amnesia. From the moment I woke up the morning you walked in, I remember nothing. I’ve told you many times, and if you don’t believe me, fine. You can kill me or cut me, but I really don’t have those memories.”
Xue Luhe spoke with a rare gravity. “I am asking for the sake of your reputation. If you never cheated, it’s best to tell me. I would apologize and compensate you. Hitting you that day… I was indeed impulsive.”
Lin Mo raised an eyebrow. “Why the sudden change? Did Mu Fei say something to you?”
Xue Luhe didn’t answer. She kept her gaze locked on Lin Mo’s eyes. Her aura was overpowering. However, Lin Mo didn’t see much sincerity in the depths of those eyes. The words sounded nice, but Xue Luhe clearly didn’t mean them.
This woman treated everyone like a target to be guarded against. Her words were a mix of truth and lies, strategies hidden behind every sentence. Lin Mo didn’t dare drop her guard. She hunched her shoulders and met the gaze, refusing to lose.
Xue Luhe stared for a long time, then suddenly broke into a radiant smile. “Eat, you little rascal.”
Lin Mo didn’t stand on ceremony. Bun in the left hand, fried dough in the right—eat! Whatever the schemes were, they could wait until she was full. Xue Luhe simply sat there watching her, slowly nibbling on half a sandwich.
After breakfast, Xue Luhe left. It took a while for Lin Mo, who was engrossed in a book, to realize that the bedroom door had been left open!
Lin Mo put on her slippers and walked cautiously to the door. She could walk now without hopping. She limped out into the hallway. The house wasn’t quiet; she could hear noises from the foyer downstairs—the sound of rolling wheels and women’s voices chatting.
This doesn’t seem like Xue Luhe’s style at all!
Lin Mo limped to the stairs and looked down, her expression turning odd. The foyer, and the balconies on the second and third floors, were covered in clothes! Dozens of professional-looking shop assistants were pushing racks, turning the entire entrance hall into a high-end department store.
Lin Mo was full of questions. Is she starting a clothing business? Or throwing an in-home sales party?
“Go down and take a look.” A deep, melodic voice sounded right next to her ear.
Lin Mo’s ears turned beet-red. She spun around to see Xue Luhe’s smirking face.
“You… you didn’t close the door,” Lin Mo blurted out, afraid she’d be punished for coming out.
“I did it on purpose. All these clothes are prepared for you. Go on, let’s go pick a few and fill your closet.”
Xue Luhe’s tone was incredibly tender and alluring, like the siren song of a mermaid. Lin Mo’s eyes widened, unable to hide her joy. “You’re letting me go outside?!”
The corner of Xue Luhe’s lip curled into a thin but real smile. “Only within this villa.”
Lin Mo felt a bit disappointed, but realizing this was far better progress than in the original book, her mood brightened. She immediately headed downstairs to “breathe some fresh air.”
Behind her, as Xue Luhe watched Lin Mo’s petite back, the smile vanished instantly. A ruthless light flashed in her eyes.
