The Lost Omega Heiress is Pregnant with My Child - Chapter 48
“Punish me however you want.”
In an instant, Shen Tingxue understood Shi Anzhi’s meaning.
Shi Anzhi had never spoken to her in this tone before. How could she deliberately mock her about the baby now?
“You!”
Shen Tingxue’s voice trembled, never having imagined Shi Anzhi could be so cruel.
She didn’t know what to say, feeling utterly humiliated.
Seeing Shen Tingxue’s devastated appearance, Shi Anzhi found it hard to say she felt any great satisfaction.
There was no trust left between them now. She could clearly see the exhaustion on Shen Tingxue’s face, yet couldn’t help questioning her motives for appearing here.
Did Shen Tingxue come to District R just to find her?
Impossible.
The Governor’s Mansion had intentions of sending the Shen family to interfere in District R. Even without that, perhaps Shen Tingxue still hadn’t given up and wanted her pheromones.
She forced herself not to show any pity toward Shen Tingxue.
“Shi Anzhi…”
Shen Tingxue took a step forward, wanting to grab Shi Anzhi’s hand, but withdrew again.
Her gaze shifted to the Omega beside Shi Anzhi, feeling it would be too shameful to beg in front of an outsider.
Who was this Omega? Shen Tingxue stared intently at Ning Yuyou, a vague memory flashing through her mind.
Years ago, at a military conference hosted by the Governor’s Mansion, she had attended as the Shen family representative, listening to various delegates discuss border conflicts.
At that time, an assistant beside Ji Tianheng had taken the stage, delivering an excellent report that Omega seemed to have this exact face.
Shi Anzhi had found someone new so quickly after leaving her, and it was actually Ji Tianheng’s close associate.
While she had been suffering alone from morning sickness in the Special Zone, Shi Anzhi had been living here in District R with another Omega.
She had endured pressure from both her family and the Governor’s Mansion, recklessly returning like a madwoman, only to be met with this scene?
“Ha… haha!”
Shen Tingxue suddenly laughed. She looked at Shi Anzhi, pointing at Ning Yuyou beside her, her body swaying with laughter.
Ning Yuyou was utterly astonished. Hearing about something was one thing, but witnessing it firsthand was entirely different.
Though Shi Anzhi was usually distant, she would never deliberately make things difficult for others. This was the first time Ning Yuyou had seen Shi Anzhi with such a cold expression. Having seen Young Miss Shen a few times in work settings, she had never witnessed Shen Tingxue in such a frenzied state either.
Shen Tingxue’s emotions had spiraled out of control. Tears streamed down her face again as she shouted at Shi Anzhi, “Shi Anzhi, you actually cheated on me.”
Two words were too piercing, stunning both Shi Anzhi and Ning Yuyou into momentary silence.
Ning Yuyou’s expression turned subtle, instinctively glancing at Shi Anzhi.
This misunderstanding was way too big.
When Shi Anzhi heard those two words, her initial surprise was quickly replaced by a dark anger burning from within.
She cheated?
Shen Tingxue herself had been engaged – she never had the right to accuse Shi Anzhi of anything before. What identity was she using now to claim Shi Anzhi had cheated?
Shi Anzhi coldly stared at Shen Tingxue, her voice terrifyingly calm. “Miss Shen, we’ve already broken up.”
“Was what I said last time not clear enough? I don’t love you anymore.”
Listening to this, Shen Tingxue felt her entire world spinning, noisy roaring filling her ears.
Her vision blurred by tears, now stimulated by Shi Anzhi’s indifference, she couldn’t muster any counterattack.
She was utterly unaccustomed to Shi Anzhi behaving this way. She couldn’t take it anymore.
Before her eyes, Shi Anzhi’s face began to grow distant, eventually dissolving into a field of blackness.
The last trace of strength drained from her body, and Shen Tingxue collapsed backward like a willow branch, limp and powerless.
The incident happened so suddenly that Shi Anzhi instinctively reached out to catch her, a habit she hadn’t yet managed to break.
Teng Ying was drawn out by the commotion outside. The moment she stepped out, she saw Shen Tingxue collapsing stiffly.
She froze for a second, but with no time to overthink, she sprang into action. More professional than Shi Anzhi, Teng Ying swiftly stepped forward.
Coordinating with Shi Anzhi’s movements, Teng Ying supported Shen Tingxue’s lower back while her other hand expertly checked Shen Tingxue’s carotid artery.
After a moment of assessment, Teng Ying said, “Her breathing is too weak. We need to get her to the medical room.”
Shi Anzhi hurriedly worked with Teng Ying, half-carrying and half-lifting the unconscious Shen Tingxue into the medical room.
Ning Yuyou seemed to snap out of a daze only then, quickly following behind. The situation had been so chaotic earlier that she hadn’t fully processed it.
She definitely needed to report this to CEO Ji. She could connect with Ji Tianheng right now to inform him, but how should she phrase it?
Ning Yuyou felt flustered and uneasy.
Inside the medical room, Teng Ying laid Shen Tingxue flat on the examination bed and swiftly connected various monitoring devices to her body.
Beep, beep, beep!
A series of alarms sounded from the equipment. On the holographic screen, several vital signs lit up in red.
“Tachycardia, low blood pressure, abnormal body temperature extreme hormonal imbalance.”
Teng Ying stared at the data on the screen, her frown deepening. “Did she come alone? Her body is completely exhausted, and she still dared to come to R Zone by herself.”
Shi Anzhi stood to the side, her nails digging deeply into her palms.
She looked at Shen Tingxue’s pale, bloodless face, the dark circles stark beneath her closed eyes. She had already resolved not to care anymore, so why did her heart still ache seeing Shen Tingxue like this?
Her throat felt dry as she asked with difficulty, “Is she pregnant?”
It was a question she hadn’t wanted to ask.
But what if?
Teng Ying was preparing medication when she heard the question and paused.
Unsure if she had misheard, she asked, “What did you say?”
“I said, is she pregnant?”
Shi Anzhi saw no need to hide anything from Teng Ying. “She told me she’s pregnant.”
Teng Ying was stunned. “What? Your child??”
Shi Anzhi didn’t know how to respond. She closed her eyes briefly. “She says it is.”
Teng Ying’s expression turned peculiar, finding Shi Anzhi’s wording strange.
She didn’t press further and initiated an abdominal ultrasound scan. A beam of light swept over Shen Tingxue’s lower abdomen, and on another screen, an image of the uterine interior gradually appeared.
Time seemed to slow to a crawl in that moment.
Shi Anzhi held her breath, her eyes fixed on the screen. Within the gray imagery, a small gestational sac emerged.
Teng Ying’s jaw dropped. Staring at the image, she was momentarily at a loss for words.
“Holy…”
It took her a while to mutter the exclamation through gritted teeth.
“Yours? You got Miss Shen pregnant?”
Shi Anzhi felt dizzy and flustered. Was Shen Tingxue lying to her or not?
That text message really had been from Shen Tingxue.
And then, she had permanently blocked Shen Tingxue.
Shi Anzhi leaned against the wall, trying her best to stay calm. “She injected herself with Lagomor-Progesterone earlier.”
“If she used that drug, would the pregnancy test show the same result regardless of whether she’s actually pregnant?”
Teng Ying was stunned by this revelation.
Of course she’d heard of Lagomor-Progesterone, the notorious banned substance.
In high society, some Omegas used it to fake pregnancy for personal gain, despite the drug’s severe side effects that amounted to slow suicide.
“Yes, theoretically that’s correct.”
Teng Ying’s gaze fell on Shen Tingxue’s abdomen as she pondered. “High concentrations of Lagomor-Progesterone can completely mimic pregnancy symptoms, including the formation of gestational sacs. It can even deceive standard ultrasound scans.”
She couldn’t help but wonder, why would someone like Shen Tingxue, born with a silver spoon, use such a thing? To deceive Shi Anzhi? For what purpose?
What could she possibly want from Shi Anzhi, a penniless Alpha with glandular disabilities? It made no logical sense.
Though Teng Ying couldn’t figure it out immediately, now didn’t seem the right time to ask.
She sighed, about to offer some comforting words, when a flicker of movement caught her eye, the hem of clothing disappearing through the crack under the medical room’s door.
Someone’s eavesdropping.
She chuckled inwardly.
Walking over to Shi Anzhi, she patted her shoulder. “Alright, don’t overthink it. Whether it’s real or fake, she’s collapsed here in your care. Can you really bring yourself to throw her out?”
“I’ll give her a nutrient IV first to stabilize her vitals. We’ll figure things out when she wakes up.”
She paused. “I’m going out for a smoke to clear my head. You should calm down too.”
With that, she turned and deliberately closed the door behind her.
Outside, Ning Yuyou leaned against the wall, pretending to read news on her terminal.
Seeing Teng Ying emerge, she looked up with concern. “Doctor Teng, is everything alright?”
Teng Ying approached her, pulling a cigarette from her pocket but not lighting it, simply twirling it between her fingers.
“If you wanted to listen, why not come inside?”
Ning Yuyou’s smile stiffened before she shrugged. “I was too embarrassed.”
After being treated like the other woman earlier, with Shi Anzhi offering no explanation, what if Miss Shen decided to eliminate her as collateral damage?
She wasn’t a professional spy had never done anything like this before. Shen Tingxue was well-versed in pharmacology; if she wanted Ning Yuyou dead, she had a hundred ways to make it happen.
“What have you been reporting to Ji Tianheng lately?” Teng Ying asked bluntly, looking directly at Ning Yuyou.
Ning Yuyou responded with silence. After days of evasion, Teng Ying’s sudden directness caught her off guard.
Waiting half a minute without a response, Teng Ying lost interest and headed toward the kitchen.
After a few steps, Ning Yuyou hurried after her, conflicted. “Sister Teng Ying.”
Teng Ying glanced back, rolling her eyes. “If you don’t want to talk, then come help cook. There’s another mouth to feed now.”
She muttered loudly, “With all that money, you’d think they’d hire a proper cook already.”
Ning Yuyou heard her and smiled. “I’ll hire one tomorrow, alright?”
Still contemplating the situation between Shi Anzhi and Shen Tingxue, Teng Ying replied absently, “Hire one now.”
Shen Tingxue dreamed of falling into a blood-red lake. The thick scent of blood washed over her as she floated in the plasma, yet strangely, she felt safe there.
She was just so exhausted.
Then, she sensed a familiar presence cool, moist. This sensation enveloped her.
The blood plasma transformed into rose-pink petals, and she found herself immersed in a beautiful sea of flowers, as if she had merely taken a petal bath, her body becoming light and clean.
She breathed in greedily, it must be Shi Anzhi’s scent, she thought instinctively.
Opening her eyes, an unfamiliar ceiling came into view, an IV bag dripping slowly. Shen Tingxue snapped back to reality.
The vision of the flower sea vanished, but the scent lingered.
After being apart for so long, she had finally caught the scent of Shi Anzhi’s pheromones again.
Shen Tingxue turned her head to the side.
Shi Anzhi was sitting by her bedside, one hand resting on the bed rail, her head half-buried, eyes closed as if she had fallen asleep.
Her dark hair was slightly disheveled from the position, a few strands falling over her forehead. Her brows were slightly furrowed, as though she couldn’t find peace even in her dreams.
Shen Tingxue watched her for a few seconds, her eyes instantly reddening.
Shi Anzhi hadn’t left. After she fainted, she hadn’t abandoned her.
How blissful.
Unable to resist, she reached out to touch Shi Anzhi’s hand. The moment their skin made contact, Shi Anzhi’s eyelashes fluttered, and she opened her eyes.
Their gazes met.
Shen Tingxue felt Shi Anzhi’s eyes instantly dim, and she wanted to cry again.
Shi Anzhi glanced at the time, it was almost eight o’clock. She sighed inwardly, stood up, and went to fetch the thermal container she had prepared not long ago.
Shen Tingxue watched Shi Anzhi stand, her eyes fixed nervously on her movements, afraid she was leaving.
Fortunately, Shi Anzhi only took a few steps, picked up the thermal container, and opened it in front of her.
Inside was a bowl of steaming apple-braised pork chops, a steamed egg custard, and a golden apple pie.
“Are you hungry?” Shi Anzhi held the bowl as she walked back to the bedside. “Eat something first.”
Her tone was calm, making it impossible for Shen Tingxue to gauge her attitude.
It was obvious Shi Anzhi was still angry.
Shen Tingxue couldn’t bring herself to eat anything, her eyes fixed on Shi Anzhi’s face. “Are you concerned about me?”
“Earlier, when you said you didn’t love me, that was a lie, wasn’t it?”
Shi Anzhi remained silent.
Back in the special zone, how desperately she had wanted to have a serious conversation with Shen Tingxue, but every time, Shen Tingxue avoided it. Shen Tingxue never shared her true thoughts, hiding and deceiving her, yet demanding that Shi Anzhi bare her heart completely.
Why should she?
Shi Anzhi prolonged her silence not intentionally, but because she herself didn’t know how to move forward with Shen Tingxue. She was exhausted by everything.
Her silence lasted less than a minute, but Shen Tingxue couldn’t bear it any longer.
“Shi Anzhi, tell me, what do I need to do for you to forgive me?”
Her voice choked with tears, “Just say it, I’m willing to do anything, punish me however you want.”
Shi Anzhi frowned, finding the words all too familiar. Their relationship had fallen into a repetitive cycle.
Seeing that Shi Anzhi still wasn’t speaking, Shen Tingxue began to struggle, trying to tear off the monitoring devices and pull out the IV tube from the back of her hand.
Shi Anzhi was startled by her sudden movements and quickly turned around, pressing down on her restless hands.
“Shen Tingxue, calm down!”
“How can I calm down?”
Shen Tingxue lifted her tear-streaked face, shouting at her hoarsely, “You don’t want me anymore. You don’t trust me anymore.”
