The Lost Omega Heiress is Pregnant with My Child - Chapter 39
Shi Anzhi had truly abandoned her.
Shen Tingxue stood silently in place.
Shi Anzhi’s words swirled and collided in her mind, pounding until her head throbbed with pain.
How could Shi Anzhi say she wasn’t fit to be a mother? How could she say she didn’t love her anymore?
She stubbornly stared at Shi Anzhi, watching as the Ji family guards helped her board the black aircraft belonging to the Ji family. Shi Anzhi didn’t even spare her a single glance back.
Shi Anzhi was gone.
The area where the laboratory was located had originally been extremely remote and desolate, surrounded by lush vegetation. Now, many of the plants had been knocked down by the explosions and were crackling as they burned.
The air was thick with smoke.
Shen Tingxue watched as Ji Tianheng’s fleet of aircraft quickly vanished into the horizon. Everything felt absurd. She had lost, utterly and completely.
The cramping pain in her abdomen surged over her like a tide once again, and her body began to tremble uncontrollably.
She felt nauseous but couldn’t vomit anything up. The acidic bile scorched her throat.
The piercing alarm continued to blare. The explosions had stopped. Ji Tianheng had only demanded that she and Shi Anzhi come out earlier. Now, she had no idea how much damage the laboratory had sustained or if there were any casualties.
Before long, a figure in white stumbled toward her.
Shen Tingxue looked over and saw Chu Yi’s tear-streaked face.
Chu Yi’s expression was filled with guilt. She knelt before Shen Tingxue, crawling closer on her knees. “Miss…”
“I’m sorry. It’s all my fault.”
After Shen Tingxue had left, she had seen the neural overlay prosthetic that had fallen off He Rui’s body in the laboratory and had pieced most of it together.
Chu Yi’s voice was hoarse, deliberately suppressing her sobs, as she said despairingly, “Please, execute me.”
Hearing this, Shen Tingxue’s tea-colored eyes remained utterly calm.
She lowered her gaze, looking at her most trusted confidante, and said softly, “You deserve to die.”
Chu Yi lifted her face, tears in her eyes. She parted her lips but offered no defense.
She bowed her head again. “Miss, please execute me.”
Shen Tingxue observed the expression of willing self-sacrifice on Chu Yi’s face and suddenly let out a mocking laugh.
She reached out, her hand trembling from the pain, and pinched Chu Yi’s chin, forcing her to lift her head and meet her gaze.
“I misjudged you. Someone who’s so quick to seek death, how are you fit to be my confidante?”
Chu Yi’s kneeling body shuddered. She wanted to avoid Shen Tingxue’s eyes, but Shen Tingxue’s grip was too strong.
Even though her hand was shaking.
“I trusted you and gave you the highest authority. Was it so you could act on your own whims?”
“Now that such a major incident has occurred, all you can think about is dying.”
Shen Tingxue’s every word was light and cold. “Death would be an easy way out. You wouldn’t have to face your own foolishness or bear the consequences. What, are you trying to wipe the slate clean with your death now?”
Tears streamed down Chu Yi’s face, shamed beyond words.
Shen Tingxue released her chin. “Chu Yi, do you think kneeling here and begging for death makes you seem loyal?”
“If you want to die, do it however you want. There’s no need to ask me to carry it out.”
Freed from Shen Tingxue’s grip, Chu Yi instead pressed closer. She crawled forward on her knees and clung to Shen Tingxue’s pant leg, sobbing. “Miss, I was wrong. I was truly wrong.”
“Tell me, what can this worthless life of mine still do for you?”
“I’m willing to do anything.”
Shen Tingxue wearily surveyed the surroundings, taking in the devastation.
“Haven’t you thought about how to fix the mess you’ve made?”
Chu Yi knelt on the ground, staring at the ruins around her. After a long silence, she lifted her head and wiped away her tears.
She began listing possible atonement plans: “I will attempt memory erasure on the three other researchers who chose to betray you, wiping all memories related to the Shepherd and Miss Shi. Then, I’ll marginalize them and transfer them away from core positions.”
“I will reorganize the remaining laboratory personnel and work to discover and train new researchers.”
Shen Tingxue listened, her gaze fixed on Chu Yi. “I cannot allow a second He Rui to appear by my side.”
“So, regarding the other three you must deal with them while ensuring the existing experimental results remain uncompromised.”
“Make it clean.”
Chu Yi was momentarily stunned, then nodded firmly.
“Yes, Miss.”
Just then, numerous aircraft circled in the sky, the first batch of security and maintenance personnel from the Shen Corporation had arrived.
With such a major incident, the system must have already sent an alert to Shen Hong.
She wondered if her plan would leak to Shen Hong. But since Ji Tianheng already knew, it was entirely possible he might inform Shen Hong to stir conflict between father and daughter, a scenario that required little imagination.
Chu Yi had stood up, her voice filled with concern. “Miss, now that Miss Shi has left, what about the Shepherd Project.”
Shen Tingxue looked up as the aircraft’s searchlights cast a soft glow on every strand of her hair. The fierce wind whipped through, intensifying the flames around them.
She recalled Shi Anzhi’s resolute departure and closed her eyes.
She murmured to herself, “I won’t accept defeat like this.”
“Everything I desire, I will ultimately obtain.”
Her tone was unwilling, filled with fierce determination.
Chu Yi, standing nearby, overheard her. Watching Shen Tingxue’s beautiful yet ruthless profile illuminated by the firelight, she felt something extinguished within her reignite.
A surge of passion welled up inside her.
Her earlier desire for Shen Tingxue to execute her had been genuine, but now, if her life still held value, she would follow the young lady forever, pledging eternal loyalty.
Never again would she defy any command.
The first aircraft landed, and Shen Hong emerged, his face dark and urgent.
At the same time, Shen Tingxue began to sway, dizziness overwhelming her from the pain.
Chu Yi noticed and moved to steady her.
But as she touched Shen Tingxue’s arm, the young woman’s body went limp, collapsing backward. Chu Yi quickly caught her by the waist.
In the final second before losing consciousness, Shen Tingxue felt utterly exhausted.
How she wished Shi Anzhi were holding her.
On the top floor of St. Ann’s Hospital, the Shen family’s most authoritative team of experts was already in position.
Shen Tingxue lay unconscious inside a multifunctional medical pod.
Shen Hong stood by the window, hands clasped behind his back, his expression grim.
That madman Ji Tianheng actually dared to use armed forces to openly attack the Shen family’s private property! This was a severe violation of the Imperial Charter and breached the highest prohibition of the Special Zone Emergency Act forbidding any corporation from conducting armed strikes against another during non-wartime conditions.
Although the nobility often flouted the law, certain ironclad rules were tacitly respected by all. Never before had anyone dared to cross this line.
Shen Hong had already submitted the complete surveillance footage and evidence to the Governor’s Office and the Imperial Senate, but he knew in his heart that it wouldn’t be of much use.
In the face of Ji Tianheng’s terrifying military strength, a few legal provisions seemed so insignificant.
What worried him more now was how much data from Laboratory 7 had been leaked? Would it threaten the Super Alpha Project? What was Ji Tianheng’s motive for this move?
He turned around and looked at his daughter, still unconscious in the medical pod, his eyes filled with complex emotions.
This daughter, whom he had always guarded against but had no choice but to rely on heavily.
Now seemed to have become the one who must continue to uphold the family and clean up the mess.
Dr. Yuan walked in. She had originally been the Shen family’s private physician, having watched Shen Tingxue grow up. Later, on Shen Tingxue’s recommendation, she took on an important position at St. Anne’s Hospital.
Holding the medical report in her hand, she gave Shen Hong a slight bow.
“How is Tingxue?”
Dr. Yuan hesitated before answering.
“The young lady fainted due to emotional agitation and physical exhaustion. Her bodily functions are not seriously affected.”
“Good.”
Shen Hong nodded. He had more important matters to discuss with others. After giving Shen Tingxue a few more glances, he left.
“When Tingxue wakes up, tell her to contact me immediately.”
“Yes.”
After Shen Hong left, Dr. Yuan let out a heavy sigh of relief.
She walked over to the medical pod and looked at Shen Tingxue’s face, which appeared even more fragile in her unconscious state, her eyes filled with heartache.
She reached out and gently stroked Shen Tingxue’s cheek through the machine’s cover.
How had this child tormented herself to such a state?
She had just told Shen Hong a huge lie.
The most startling test results had been concealed by her. Under the ultrasound scan, Shen Tingxue’s uterine cavity now showed echoes of a gestational sac. Dr. Yuan had unbelievably reviewed all the data and scrolled to the final conclusion.
[Comprehensive Diagnosis: Confirmed early pregnancy. Based on the biological model, the gestational age is approximately three weeks.]
Shen Tingxue was truly pregnant.
It wasn’t a false positive caused by rabbit pregnancy hormones; there was a real little life growing inside her.
Dr. Yuan had felt dizzy at the time. Oh, heavens.
In such a short period, with Xiao Xue’s fiancé stationed far away at the border, this child couldn’t possibly be Jiang Qi’s.
Dr. Yuan immediately decided that she couldn’t reveal this matter to Mr. Shen for now. Otherwise, in his fury, Shen Tingxue would undoubtedly be forced into an emergency abortion.
But her current physical condition was not suitable for an abortion.
Dr. Yuan sighed as she looked at Shen Tingxue’s increasingly gaunt face lately.
When Shen Tingxue woke up, the room was quiet, with only a dim, sleep-inducing lamp lit.
She moved her body, feeling heavy all over, struggling to control her limbs.
She had been pushing herself too hard lately.
Detecting that she was awake, someone soon entered it was Dr. Yuan.
“Xiao Xue, you’re awake?”
“Aunt Yuan.”
As soon as Shen Tingxue spoke, she realized her voice was hoarse.
“How do you feel? Is there any discomfort?”
“My head hurts badly.”
Shen Tingxue rubbed her temples as countless images uncontrollably flooded her mind.
Shi Anzhi was gone. She remembered Shi Anzhi’s retreating figure.
Shi Anzhi had truly abandoned her.
At this thought, Shen Tingxue’s heart ached, and she had to clutch her chest.
Dr. Yuan watched Shen Tingxue’s condition and hesitated for a long time before finally speaking.
This matter had to be addressed sooner rather than later.
“There’s something I must tell you, Xiao Xue. You’re pregnant.”
She pulled up the medical report and projected it in front of Shen Tingxue.
After reviewing the data, Shen Tingxue stared blankly at the ultrasound image, her eyes fixed on the tiny gestational sac. For a moment, she couldn’t react at all.
Pregnant?
How was that possible?
She had been using rabbit progesterone, how could she actually be pregnant?
Which time was it? She and Shi Anzhi had never used protection.
Judging by the timing, it must have been during the R-zone period. Her thoughts were in chaos as she recalled the moments of intimacy. Shi Anzhi had already abandoned her, and the memories brought nothing but pain.
And shame.
Tears fell in heavy drops. Shen Tingxue stopped thinking, what did this even mean?
Her once despicable lie had now become reality. Fate was truly cruel to her.
She grabbed Dr. Yuan’s arm, pleading in panic, “Aunt Yuan, you can’t let my father know about this. Please.”
“Help me.”
Dr. Yuan immediately held her hand, comforting her, “Don’t worry, Miss. President Shen doesn’t know about this yet.”
She felt a pang of sympathy but had to ask, “What do you plan to do now?”
Shen Tingxue’s eyes were vacant. She didn’t know.
She had never imagined having a child.
Shi Anzhi had already abandoned her, saying a child would suffer with a mother like her. So what was the point of this child’s existence?
It would only serve as a constant reminder of what she had lost.
As the pregnancy progressed, it would be impossible to hide. How could she explain it to the Governor’s Mansion? Not to mention, the pregnancy would take a toll on her body.
Though she wasn’t well-versed in obstetrics, she knew that Omegas needed Alpha reassurance during pregnancy. Shi Anzhi hadn’t even fully marked her, how could she endure the pregnancy alone?
In the silence, Shen Tingxue wiped away her tears. “Get rid of it.”
Dr. Yuan wasn’t surprised by the decision her first thought had been the same. But the problem was, “Not yet. Your physical condition is too poor right now. The rabbit progesterone concentration you’ve been injecting is too high, and your gland and endocrine system are already in disarray. If you terminate the pregnancy now, you may never be able to conceive again.”
Shen Tingxue blinked, her expression dazed.
“Not only that, but your body could suffer permanent damage. My suggestion is to wait until the fetus is more stable and you’ve had time to recover before considering removal.”
Shen Tingxue listened, a bitter taste rising in her mouth. She nodded.
“Let’s do that, then.”
“Aunt Yuan, thank you for keeping this a secret for me.”
Dr. Yuan sighed but said nothing more.
Shen Tingxue stayed in the hospital for two days. Aside from restoring the laboratory system, she did nothing. She was too exhausted she had no strength left.
Chu Yi, however, was actively working on damage control, constantly updating her on the lab’s status and informing her that President Shen had been kept in the dark for now. She ignored Bai Yue’s attempts to contact her.
She was just too tired.
On the evening of the second day, she was suddenly hit by morning sickness. Due to the effects of the rabbit progesterone, her symptoms were already more severe than those of a typical three-week pregnancy.
She desperately needed pheromones. Without Shi Anzhi’s scent, her heart felt unsettled.
Ignoring the medical staff’s advice, she insisted on returning to her private residence. Of course, it was empty.
In the air, the traces of Shi Anzhi’s pheromones had grown faint almost undetectable. There had never been much of a scent to begin with.
It was a feeling, one she could no longer sense now.
She walked into the living room and saw the book that Shi Anzhi had casually left on the sofa.
The Omega Scientific Pregnancy Guide.
On the pages, some important sentences were circled with a pen, and beside them were handwritten notes words like “Song,” “Xian,” “Wei”.
Shen Tingxue’s fingers traced over the characters, not fully understanding them.
She turned another page.
“Shen Xian and…”
“Shi… Zhao,” followed by an “X.”
Shen Tingxue’s body swayed, and she closed the book.
She buried her face deeply into the sofa and finally broke into loud, unrestrained sobs.
She cried as if her heart were tearing apart, gasping for breath between sobs. In the empty room, no one could hear her weeping.
After what felt like an eternity, she dragged herself to the bedroom.
Shi Anzhi’s belongings were still there, and it seemed she could still faintly detect a trace of pheromones. With red-rimmed eyes, Shen Tingxue tightly hugged Shi Anzhi’s pillow to her chest.
She greedily inhaled the scent of the pillow, rubbing her face against it. There was a fragrance lingering on it, the scent of night-blooming lotus.
It was merely the fragrance of their shower gel.
Shen Tingxue resented how faint Shi Anzhi’s pheromones were, yet even this faint trace was gradually fading away.
Clutching the pillow, Shen Tingxue curled up on the bed, her tears soaking the sheets.
