The Lost Omega Heiress is Pregnant with My Child - Chapter 38.2
Dr. Yuan was startled by her and quickly stepped forward to try and restrain her.
“Move aside.”
Shen Tingxue pushed her away, got off the bed, and felt waves of dizziness, barely able to stand steadily.
“Your body.”
Dr. Yuan still wanted to persuade her.
But Shen Tingxue had already swiftly pushed open the door and hurried toward the parking area.
The aircraft sped through the air corridor at a near-suicidal pace. Shen Tingxue paid no heed to anything else, connecting her mind to the internal monitoring system of Laboratory 7.
Due to Chu Yi’s interference, her connection took much longer than usual.
Shen Tingxue was frantic with anxiety and decided to head to the laboratory first among the three choices.
She arrived at the laboratory at top speed, the aircraft screeching to a halt so abruptly that it was on the verge of crashing.
She quickly unlocked the door, tears already streaming down her face.
She could already smell Shi Anzhi’s pheromones still damp, sending shivers down her spine. This time, however, the scent carried no trace of tranquility.
The air was filled with a bitter odor, as if the entire ocean were weeping. Shi Anzhi had released her pheromones under extreme sorrow.
Tears welled up in Shen Tingxue’s eyes.
Did Shi Anzhi know everything?
She hoped she wasn’t too late.
The alloy door of the laboratory slid open once more, and Shen Tingxue rushed in, breathing heavily, her gaze sweeping over everyone in the room.
Chu Yi looked utterly shocked. Among the other researchers, some avoided her eyes, while others seemed on the verge of speaking. He Rui’s eyes were vacant, his lips pale.
And Shi Anzhi stared back at her as if she were a stranger.
Shen Tingxue felt as though she were drowning.
Her lungs felt as if they were about to explode from the influx of water. She couldn’t bear the profound disappointment in Shi Anzhi’s eyes and looked away after a few seconds.
She demanded of her subordinates, “What are you all doing?”
Chu Yi was the first to speak. “Miss, forgive me!”
Before she could finish, Shen Tingxue drew a compact handgun from her waist and, without the slightest hesitation, pulled the trigger, aiming at He Rui.
The sound of energy discharge echoed through the laboratory as a white energy beam pierced He Rui’s forehead.
He Rui’s body stiffened and fell backward.
Everyone was stunned, and one of the researchers let out a scream.
But Shen Tingxue’s rage was far from quelled. She stepped forward and fired several more shots, one of which struck the back of his head. Suddenly, a tiny neural implant fell from his body.
Shen Tingxue saw the grain-sized object roll to the floor and stopped. Now she knew.
Shi Anzhi stared blankly at Shen Tingxue.
This was the first time she had seen Shen Tingxue kill someone.
And the one killed was the person who had told her the truth.
She watched as a few drops of warm blood splattered onto Shen Tingxue’s face, her eyes icy cold. The next moment, the energy handgun was aimed at another person in the room.
Shen Tingxue’s voice trembled with grief and fury. “Chu Yi, you betrayed me.”
Chu Yi glanced at the corpse on the floor, then at the dark muzzle of the gun, yet showed no trace of fear.
Tears of sorrow streamed down her face.
“Miss, I only wanted to help you.”
“I just don’t understand why you’ve changed so much for an Alpha. You once said you despised Alphas.”
“She is utterly unworthy of you!”
Chu Yi pointed at Shi Anzhi, who was still in shock, and exclaimed with fervent emotion, “Miss! There’s still time! If we extract her pheromones right now, we still have a chance! We can.”
“Enough!”
Shen Tingxue shrieked, cutting her off.
She turned her head to look at Shi Anzhi. Shi Anzhi met her gaze, her eyes calm.
The cruel truth lay bare before them. At this point, there was no need to ask anything more.
Her heart had completely died.
As their eyes locked, suddenly BOOM! a massive explosion erupted from outside the laboratory.
The entire underground facility began to shake violently, and spiderweb-like cracks had already appeared on the walls.
Alarms blared throughout the lab.
【Alert! Alert! High-intensity explosive attack detected in the energy core area! Structural support points damaged by 30%! Repeat, Alert!】
【Evacuate immediately with critical data! Evacuate immediately!】
Ji Tianheng could no longer sit still.
When Shen Tingxue killed He Rui, the surveillance feed had gone black along with He Rui’s collapsing body.
Watching this unfold, Ji Tianheng cursed under his breath and ordered Technician Li to fix it as quickly as possible.
Amid the emergency repairs, the surveillance signal remained unstable. With the destruction of the cybernetic body, her plan to implant a Trojan had also been scrapped.
This was her first confrontation with Shen Tingxue. Though the girl was still green, she was among the best of the new generation in the Special Zone her handling and judgment were decisive enough.
Allowing Shi Anzhi into the lab had already been a risk; she couldn’t afford to let things spiral out of her control.
A voice, amplified through the lab’s emergency broadcast system, echoed throughout the space.
“Shen Tingxue.”
“I’m giving you three minutes.”
“If you don’t want years of your hard work buried here, bring Shi Anzhi out now.”
Ji Tianheng’s voice reverberated in everyone’s ears.
Shen Tingxue lifted her head, her gaze sweeping across the laboratory ceiling. She could almost feel the dust settling on her face, a sensation that shattered her heart.
This was the fruit of so many years of labor. She had spent more time in this lab than at home.
Before anyone inside could react BOOM! another, even more violent explosion rocked the facility. A wave of scorching heat and the smell of gunpowder flooded inward.
The laboratory teetered on the brink of collapse. Researchers from various sections scrambled in panic amid the blaring alarms, screams rising all around. Yet, in the B3 sector, an eerie silence prevailed.
One shocking revelation after another had already battered Shi Anzhi. Now, she had erected psychological defenses, remaining calm despite the rapidly escalating chaos.
Most researchers held their breath, watching Shen Tingxue’s reaction. Chu Yi dug her nails into her palm beginning to regret her earlier impulsiveness.
Shen Tingxue’s eyes blinked slowly, as if she were in a dream.
Otherwise, how could things have turned out like this?
Why did her mind feel frozen, unable to produce a single solution?
At this point, it was far beyond anything she could resolve on her own. What else could she possibly do?
Like a walking corpse, Shen Tingxue mustered the last shreds of her rationality and retorted, “Stop the attack immediately. Have your people retreat beyond two kilometers, or else.”
“I’ll kill Shi Anzhi.”
She lowered her lashes and slowly uttered the words.
This was the only counterattack method she could think of with a slight logical deduction. She didn’t know why Ji Tianheng had pulled this move, but since his target was Shi Anzhi, she would use Shi Anzhi to retaliate.
Shi Anzhi gazed at Shen Tingxue.
So the heart could ache even more.
Loving Shen Tingxue was more painful than death.
Sure enough, Ji Tianheng’s tone immediately turned furious. “Shen Tingxue, if you dare, today the entire laboratory and your Shen family will be buried together.”
Shen Tingxue forced a smile and looked at Shi Anzhi, feeling that she seemed like a stranger.
Why would someone go to such lengths for Shi Anzhi? Her mind was clouded with confusion as she wondered if Shi Anzhi had been colluding with the Ji family for a long time.
“Let’s go out.”
She felt powerless inside. “It seems you’re very important to her. Outside is safer for you than here.”
After saying this, Shen Tingxue was the first to step into the gravity elevator.
She walked slowly, and so did Shi Anzhi, but the gravity elevator swiftly carried them upward.
When they reached the surface, Shen Tingxue stepped out first. Looking ahead, she saw Ji Tianheng just a few hundred meters away, followed by over a dozen elite members of the guard.
It was nowhere near the two kilometers she had claimed.
And these were only the ones she could see, who knew how many more were hidden from view.
But it didn’t matter anymore.
Faced with such overwhelming force, Shen Tingxue felt numb inside. She had a premonition that the Shepherd Project might fail. What did it matter if the Shen family was wealthy? Without armed power, they were merely slightly better-off prey.
At the mercy of others.
How many more times would something like today happen?
Shen Tingxue stared directly at Ji Tianheng. For a few seconds, she wanted to ask if she was insane, daring to directly bomb the Shen family’s laboratory, disregarding the empire’s laws.
But only the weak would believe in a few pale legal clauses and seek the protection of the rulers.
She asked, “What exactly do you want?”
Ji Tianheng signaled the guard commander to ensure Shi Anzhi’s safety afterward.
After the guard commander nodded, she said to Shen Tingxue, “I despise the despicable methods of your Shen family.”
“Now, confess all the vile things you’ve done to the people you’ve deceived. After you’re done, I might consider withdrawing.”
Upon hearing this, Shen Tingxue’s body convulsed, and a sharp pain shot through her abdomen. She couldn’t help but clutch her stomach, her face contorted in agony.
Seeing Shen Tingxue like this, Shi Anzhi instinctively called out, “Ah Xue.”
It was a habit. At the same time, her body leaned toward Shen Tingxue.
Almost as soon as she called out, she remembered Shen Tingxue wasn’t pregnant at all.
Ji Tianheng sneered at Shen Tingxue’s display. “Miss Shen, stop clutching your stomach. This act is truly pathetic.”
“Even if you’re in pain now, it’s not because of some child. It’s because you injected yourself with rabbit pregnancy hormones.”
“Isn’t that right?”
Shen Tingxue endured the pain and forced herself to move her hand away from her lower abdomen. She looked at Ji Tianheng.
Then at Shi Anzhi.
Compared to the emotional agony, every second now felt humiliating. Everyone and everything seemed determined to shatter the pride she had painstakingly built for herself.
It was as if she had returned to her childhood submissive before absolute authority, devoid of dignity, obedient, ingratiating, and trying to please these people just to lessen her own suffering.
She could no longer bear it.
She looked at Shi Anzhi, having given up, no longer caring, and self-destructively blurted everything out.
“You already know, don’t you?”
“Yes, the child was fake. My promise to treat your gland was also fake. I truly wanted to obtain your pheromones. I deceived you about many things.”
But wanting to build a home with you, that was real.
As Shen Tingxue spoke, tears streamed down her face, and she let out a self-mocking laugh. “Now, someone of higher status has invited you, going to such lengths. You should go.”
After saying this, she turned her gaze to Ji Tianheng. “Is there anything else you want me to say? Can we end this now?”
Shi Anzhi listened quietly, her face drenched.
Shen Tingxue had never seen Shi Anzhi shed so many tears.
The tears had already blurred her vision. The pain tore through her body, spreading to every cell. She could no longer see Shen Tingxue clearly, yet she still struggled to gaze at the Omega she had once deeply loved.
All along, she had always wondered why Shen Tingxue was so hot and cold toward her—seeming to love her, craving her warmth, yet also despising her, looking down on her, so unpredictable. Now, everything had an answer.
Shen Tingxue’s attitude toward her depended solely on how much value she held.
Suppressing the pain in her throat, she managed to speak a complete sentence.
“Shen Tingxue, I truly loved you once.”
Shen Tingxue, tears streaming down her face, braced herself for the judgment to come, her abdomen still wracked with cramps.
“But… you never loved me, did you?”
Shen Tingxue parted her lips slightly, as if wanting to refute something.
Shi Anzhi’s eyes were filled with utter desolation. “I realized it too late… Your act of being unable to live without me wasn’t because you loved me. It might not even be considered liking. It was only because I was useful to you.”
“Because I was good to you.”
“Maybe it’s been this way since our days in the slums.”
As she spoke, Shi Anzhi’s gaze fell on Shen Tingxue’s abdomen, and she said coldly, “It’s just as well there’s no child. Our feelings right now are completely unsuitable for raising one. If there were a child, she would suffer being raised by parents like us.”
Hearing this, Shen Tingxue seemed to go deaf for a second.
How could Shi Anzhi bring herself to say such cruel words?
Shi Anzhi swallowed hard. She hated Shen Tingxue for deceiving her, hurting her, and giving up on her before she even had a chance to respond.
The child was fake, the treatment was fake, and the promise of being together forever was the fakest of all.
“Now… it’s over.”
Shi Anzhi looked at Shen Tingxue, mustering the last bit of strength in her body to bid farewell to all the joy and pain of the past.
“Shen Tingxue, I don’t love you anymore.”
