The Lost Omega Heiress is Pregnant with My Child - Chapter 25
You don’t love me, so why ask me to stay?
Everyone was waiting for Shen Tingxue’s reaction, but she only smiled disdainfully.
Her gaze swept past Li Mei and settled on the male Omega trembling in agony.
“Li Mei, is this the genetic modification technology your family has been developing?”
“It’s truly beneath contempt.”
Li Mei’s expression darkened. “Sister Tingxue, what do you mean?”
Shen Tingxue turned her gaze to her. “What I mean is, the toy you’re so fond of is a defective product.”
“The reason he can release this kind of pheromone is because your family forcibly fused various hallucinogenic alkaloids with his own pheromones, isn’t it? This fusion is highly unstable. Every time it’s released, it irreversibly damages the neuronal structure of his gland.”
No one in the room spoke. Everyone listened quietly, undercurrents swirling in the silence.
Shen Tingxue continued, revealing the cruel truth:
“The reason he’s so obedient isn’t because your training methods are so brilliant. Every time he tries to resist, you detonate this unstable fusion through the micro-controller implanted in his body, making him suffer glandular collapse, a pain a hundred times worse than neural burning.”
“Am I right?”
“If this continues, his gland will soon necrotize, and he won’t live more than eight months.”
Hearing this, the male Omega’s face twisted in despair. His eyes reddened as he stared fixedly at Li Mei.
Li Mei, who had no understanding of the specifics of the modification process, exclaimed in shock, “How do you know that?”
Shen Tingxue replied lazily, “The foundational algorithms of the genetic sequence simulation system your family is currently using were all plagiarized from the Shen family.”
“Using technology the Shen family phased out twenty years ago to conduct such unregulated research. Who approved this?”
“Little Mei, don’t tell me your family bypassed regulatory oversight to conduct this research privately. What exactly is your family trying to achieve with this?”
The room fell into dead silence.
The people present came from various backgrounds and weren’t all frivolous heirs. Some understood the implications of Shen Tingxue’s words and were already frowning.
He Lanshuang observed the expressions of everyone in the room, lost in thought.
Shi Anzhi remained standing where she was, like an outsider. None of this seemed to concern her. Even now, just looking at Shen Tingxue filled her with pain.
Li Mei, unable to process the situation, grew flustered as she noticed many in the room falling silent. “I was just having some fun.”
“Why are you making it sound so terrifying? I didn’t do anything wrong.”
Shen Tingxue walked over to the booth, took a pheromone controller from her handbag, and pressed it lightly into the air.
An invisible ripple instantly spread through the room.
Immediately, many Alphas and Omegas present felt their pheromones inexplicably destabilize, completely beyond their control.
The room descended into chaos. Some clutched their glands, trying to prevent severe pheromone leakage.
The male slave lying on the floor suddenly lifted his head, a flicker of hope for survival appearing in his vacant eyes. He felt the excruciating pain inside him lessen, and the sensation of being forcibly controlled had vanished.
Li Mei clutched her own gland and shouted angrily, “Shen Tingxue, what did you do?”
She was horrified to discover that she had lost control over her “toy,” and her own gland was beginning to ache and swell.
“Nothing much.”
Shen Tingxue retracted the controller that resembled a pen, her tone indifferent. “It’s just temporarily blocking all gland control signals below S-rank in the area. Sorry, lower-tier Alphas and Omegas might be slightly affected.”
She looked at the male slave on the floor, speaking in an almost pitying tone. “Do you feel any better now?”
“You have three minutes to decide whether to leave her. If you want to go, get out now.”
The male Omega hesitated for a moment, glancing toward Li Mei.
Li Mei glared furiously. “How dare you! If you step out that door, I’ll break your legs when we get back!”
Hearing this, the male Omega began trembling again. He shakily stood up, nearly stumbling, then fled as if being chased by ghosts.
Li Mei was so enraged she kicked away the dog chain. Her pet had abandoned her in front of so many people all because of Shen Tingxue. What face did she have left?
Among the crowd, many lower-tier Alphas and Omegas regarded Shen Tingxue with fear. The Shen family truly remained untouchable; their technology was far beyond reach. With just a press of a button, Shen Tingxue could disrupt their pheromones slightly.
To put it bluntly, if she could control things to this extent, didn’t it mean Shen Tingxue could casually decide their fates? Moreover, the Shen family was about to form an alliance with the Governor’s Mansion, the power they would wield was unimaginable.
At this moment, Shi Anzhi didn’t feel any discomfort. She lowered her eyelashes, pondering Shen Tingxue’s motive for bringing her here.
Helan Shuang, standing nearby, looked at her and asked, “Are you a high-tier Alpha?”
Shi Anzhi took a moment to process why Helan Shuang would ask that.
She forced a smile and said self-deprecatingly, “Because I’m useless. I don’t have pheromones to begin with, so there’s nothing to disrupt.”
Helan Shuang felt as if the sorrow radiating from the person before her was overflowing. Who calls themselves useless?
She circled back to her earlier question. “Are you short on money?”
Shi Anzhi lowered her head. “Do you think I’m here because I lack money?”
Helan Shuang didn’t state it outright. She took out a faintly glowing business card and handed it to Shi Anzhi. “If you’re feeling unhappy, you can come find me to hang out.”
Shi Anzhi looked at the card and met Helan Shuang’s gaze.
Her eyes were gentle, seemingly carrying a hint of admiration.
Shi Anzhi froze for a few seconds before accepting it.
Even a stranger she just met could tell she was unhappy would Shen Tingxue not know?
Did Shen Tingxue still care?
Now, the party atmosphere had completely dissipated. The host, Yu Yiyang, coughed lightly and laughed. “Ah, my fault. What’s so fun about these games? The mix of pheromones is overwhelming.”
“I wanted to say earlier several people’s pheromones are making me dizzy.”
“Yeah, exactly.”
Someone immediately chimed in, “Tingxue, yours is still the best. Clean, and so good-looking. Who cares if there’s no scent?”
The attention seemed to shift back to Shi Anzhi.
Shi Anzhi watched Shen Tingxie, curious how the only person she cared about here would react.
Under everyone’s gaze, Shen Tingxue walked over to Shi Anzhi and linked arms with her. “Who said she has no pheromones? She does, she just hasn’t released them yet.”
“She’s my friend, not some random creature. Why should any of you get to smell her whenever you feel like it?”
Hearing these words, Shi Anzhi didn’t feel particularly happy.
She was like someone who had just survived a fire, the most painful burns had already passed, and now anything Shen Tingxue did felt like a secondary injury to her.
“Yeah, yeah, exactly,” Yu Yiyang chimed in. “She shouldn’t have been allowed to compete in the first place.”
She glanced at Shen Tingxue’s expression and said to Shi Anzhi, “Sorry about that. Everyone had a bit to drink and got carried away.”
Seeing the situation shift, some of those who had mocked her earlier began to apologize to Shi Anzhi. Li Mei, however, wore a dark expression and clicked her tongue in disdain, saying nothing.
Shen Tingxue scanned the room and announced, “Yiyang, I’ll buy that sports car for you, it’s yours.”
“Everyone here today, it’s on me.”
Her gaze fell on Shi Anzhi, and seeing that Shi Anzhi remained unresponsive, she grew anxious. “I’m not in the mood to stay. I’m leaving now.”
With that, she ignored the others’ attempts to persuade her to stay, took Shi Anzhi by the arm, and left.
On the way to the parking lot, they maintained the same posture. Shi Anzhi didn’t resist Shen Tingxue’s arm, but her body was stiff.
The two walked in silence.
Shen Tingxue had shifted out of her defensive state from the party, but now, faced with Shi Anzhi’s obvious anger, she had no idea how to comfort her.
When they reached the parking lot, Shen Tingxue stumbled over something as she was about to get into the car. Looking down, she saw the male Omega lying near the tire.
The male Omega looked up at Shen Tingxue with an expression of worship, as if gazing at a savior.
“Please, I beg you, save me.”
Already irritated, Shen Tingxue nudged him aside with her leg. “Get lost.”
“I don’t know how to get out of here. Li Mei will definitely kill me. Please, save me.”
The male Omega began trembling again, muttering incoherently under his breath.
Shen Tingxue glanced at Shi Anzhi for her opinion. Meeting her gaze, Shi Anzhi said, “Let’s take him out of here.”
Shen Tingxue grunted in agreement.
The male Omega bowed in gratitude and quickly scrambled into the back seat, curling up as inconspicuously as possible.
The car ride back was filled with prolonged silence. Shi Anzhi watched the city lights flash by outside the window everything here was so different from the R District.
The Omega in the back seat breathed faintly. Shi Anzhi found her own situation bizarre. What exactly was the difference between her circumstances today and that of the male Omega lying on the ground?
Why had Shen Tingxue brought her to the event? Why hadn’t she intervened when Shi Anzhi was being humiliated? Was she just a tool for Shen Tingxue to assert her authority?
The sports car sped along, and ten minutes later, they arrived at a station. Shen Tingxue stopped the car and ordered the back seat, “Get out. Now.”
The male Omega scrambled out of the car without hesitation.
Now, it was just the two of them in the car.
Shen Tingxue looked at Shi Anzhi, took a deep breath, and reached for her hand. “Are you angry?”
Angry?
It was more than that. Leaning back in the car seat, Shi Anzhi felt heartbroken, disappointed, and hopeless.
The car fell into silence once more before Shen Tingxue started the engine again.
Shi Anzhi finally spoke, her words slow and her voice soft, as if talking to herself. Some emotions could no longer be suppressed.
“I told you before that I’m disabled. Back then, you said I wasn’t, that you could sense my pheromones.”
“I truly love you. I’ve never loved anyone else. When we were in the R District, I did everything I could for you. I tried my hardest to be good to you.”
Shi Anzhi’s eyes began to glisten as she spoke, her throat tightening as if something were stuck there, making it difficult for her to continue.
She forced back the sob, tormenting herself as she went on, “Do you know what I thought when the instrument showed my pheromone level was zero? I couldn’t understand why you let me fall into this situation. At that moment, I even hated myself for being disabled. I thought all along, have you felt ashamed of me?”
“Having someone like me, a disabled person from the slums take care of you, did it embarrass you? Is that why you said I was your friend?”
Suddenly, Shi Anzhi no longer wanted to ask the other questions. It felt like inviting humiliation, and there was no need to bring up the engagement anymore.
She looked at Shen Tingxue and asked, “If you don’t love me, why do you want me to stay?”
Shen Tingxue listened, her heart aching, the turmoil inside growing heavier. She had always known Shi Anzhi was a woman of few words, not adept at expressing her thoughts, cold on the outside but shy and vulnerable within.
This was the first time Shi Anzhi had laid bare her pain to her. Shen Tingxue could feel her anguish, yet she still wanted Shi Anzhi to stay.
“I…”
Shen Tingxue searched for the right words to placate her.
In that instant, she even considered confinement, her mind racing to find the best method. How could her Anzhi talk about leaving so easily?
Shi Anzhi waited for a long time, but when Shen Tingxue remained silent, she unbuckled her seatbelt and fixed her gaze on her. “Forget it, stop the car.”
Shen Tingxue turned her head. “Where are you going?”
Shi Anzhi didn’t know where she should go. She just didn’t want to wait alone in the bedroom for Shen Tingxue anymore, only to be dragged to such occasions.
“Stop the car.”
Her voice was soft, like a sigh.
Shen Tingxue didn’t stop; instead, she accelerated. “Impossible. I won’t allow you to leave.”
Shi Anzhi watched Shen Tingxue quietly for a long time.
Suddenly, she tried to pull the car door handle. By then, the speed had surged to 200 km/h. Jumping out at such a speed would be no different from suicide.
At the same moment, Shen Tingxue abruptly slammed on the brakes, bringing the sports car to a screeching halt.
