The Lost Omega Heiress is Pregnant with My Child - Chapter 2
You, good person! Pretty!
Shi Anzhi had once offended an Alpha in the red-light district.
The man was a loan shark boss in District R and one of the key figures in the black market.
The Alpha, codenamed Ding Sha, was ruthless and cruel, his pheromones carrying a nauseating metallic scent of rust. He kept a group of thugs under his command, specializing in the filthiest deals.
Two years ago, a younger sister from the orphanage fell seriously ill and needed a large sum of money for treatment. She turned to Shi Anzhi for help. It was an amount far beyond her means, forcing Shi Anzhi to borrow from Ding Sha out of desperation.
She managed to scrape together enough to repay the debt, but Ding Sha used compound interest to continuously harass her, aiming to completely control her and turn her into his most obedient dog.
Shi Anzhi didn’t let him succeed.
On a rainy night, in front of everyone, she drove a sharpened steel pipe through Ding Sha’s palm, pinning him to the gambling table.
That night, she barely made it out of the casino alive, using the most brutal means to secure a temporary resolution.
From that day on, she and Ding Sha became mortal enemies.
The truck drove through the chaotic streets on the edge of the red-light district.
Shi Anzhi kept her eyes on the road ahead. As they were about to leave the district, she breathed a sigh of relief fortunately, Ding Sha wasn’t around today.
What was annoying, however, was that as they passed the casino, a few of Ding Sha’s lackeys spotted her truck. When they noticed the pretty Omega in the passenger seat, their lecherous eyes immediately glued onto him like flies.
One of the Alphas whistled, “**, Shi Anzhi, where did you get this Omega?”
“Our boss went on a supply run this month. When he returns, he’s going to deal with you. Since you won’t be around much longer anyway, why not lend us this Omega for a couple of days?”
At those words, the lackeys erupted in vulgar laughter.
The atmosphere inside the truck instantly shifted.
The Omega beside her stared blankly out the window, frightened by their crude remarks. He leaned closer to Shi Anzhi, curling into a small, trembling ball.
Shi Anzhi caught a faint whiff of pear-scented pheromones.
She glanced over and saw the Omega’s cheeks flushed with an unnatural pink, clearly startled. His amber eyes glistened with unshed tears as he looked at her uneasily, as if seeking an explanation.
Or perhaps seeking protection.
Shi Anzhi’s grip on the steering wheel tightened abruptly, veins bulging on the back of her hand.
With an expressionless face, she spat out a single word: “Scram.” At the same time, she slammed her foot on the accelerator, steering the truck directly toward the group of Alphas.
They hadn’t expected her to retaliate so fiercely. Screeching, they scrambled to get out of the way. One of them nearly had his leg run over and cursed loudly, “Shi Anzhi, you motherless orphan, we’ll kill you sooner or later!”
She suppressed her anger and didn’t respond.
When she was alone, she wouldn’t hesitate to fight back when provoked, indifferent to life or death, she had already faced death countless times.
But today, she had a sick Omega with her. She didn’t dare take any risks, so she merely filed the grudge away in her mind.
She would definitely cut out their tongues one day.
For a long time, the truck remained dead silent. Shi Anzhi took slow, deep breaths to calm herself. Many people knew she was an orphan and had often mocked her for it in the past. After she improved her combat skills, no one had dared bring it up again.
As she was contemplating how to retaliate, the Omega beside her tugged gently on the hem of her shirt.
Shi Anzhi turned to look at him.
Omega was cautiously observing her, eyes filled with worry was she worried about herself, or about Shi Anzhi?
Under such a gaze, Shi Anzhi’s heart softened inexplicably, and the irritation from being offended dissipated slightly. “Don’t be afraid,” she said.
“I’m fine.”
Shi Anzhi slowed the car and lowered her voice to a calm, steady tone. “Just a pack of mad dogs. I promise, as long as I’m here, you’ll be absolutely safe.”
The Omega seemed to understand but not fully, nodding hesitantly, yet her hand clutching Shi Anzhi’s sleeve didn’t loosen.
Shi Anzhi relaxed her expression and drove away from the red-light district. With the danger now past, she felt inclined to talk about something else. “Can you speak?” she asked.
Then she chuckled at herself, what a foolish question.
Of course, everyone could speak. The Omega was probably just too physically weak to talk, which led Teng Ying to call her mute.
Perhaps affected by the drugs, the Omega’s reactions were sluggish. She stared unblinkingly at Shi Anzhi, not answering the question.
After a long while, the Omega sniffed the air, then leaned closer toward Shi Anzhi.
Noticing the movement, Shi Anzhi also took a whiff. All she could detect was a faint, sweet scent of pear in the air likely from the Omega.
Though she was a disabled Alpha, she had studied physiology and knew that Alphas release pheromones when emotionally agitated, becoming irritable and uncontrollable during their sensitive periods.
A normal Alpha could sense the emotions of other Alphas and determine whether they posed a threat.
But she couldn’t smell them.
Because of her disability, she had lost many fights. Her inability to detect Alpha pheromones made her vulnerable to ambushes nearly getting killed by local thugs was related to this, and it had put her life at risk.
Shi Anzhi asked, “What do you smell?”
Could it be that her own pheromones were leaking?
The Omega didn’t speak but frowned curiously.
This Alpha before her was strange her pheromones had no scent, yet she could sense a moist, oceanic aura, gentle yet turbulent, washing over her.
There was clearly no smell.
The Omega could only conclude that the Alpha must be releasing pheromones, possibly due to anger or sadness, and was trying hard to suppress her emotions.
For some reason, the Omega felt inexplicably warm and couldn’t resist licking her lips.
Seeing the Omega’s pink tongue dart out to moisten her lips, Shi Anzhi assumed she was thirsty and stepped hard on the accelerator.
She needed to get the Omega some water quickly, she was still unwell.
Soon, the car turned into a relatively quiet alley and stopped in front of a dilapidated two-story building. This was Shi Anzhi’s home, and also her fruit shop.
The ground floor was the shop, its rolling shutter tightly closed, surrounded by a large patch of mint and saxifrage. The second floor was the living area, with a row of varying-height clay flower pots lining the windowsill outside.
The Omega’s eyes lit up at the sight of the flowers, thinking that this Alpha must be a patient person who loved life surely better than that ill-tempered, bad doctor.
The bad doctor had scolded her, told her to get lost, and administered injections roughly. Just thinking about it made her want to cry.
Shi Anzhi turned off the engine, hopped out of the car, and walked around to the passenger side to open the door for the Omega.
“We’re here. This is my home.”
She spoke, reaching out to help the Omega but then hesitating, her hand freezing mid-air for a moment before withdrawing.
The Omega slowly shifted out of the car on her own, standing in front of the small building and curiously tilting her head to take in the sight, her gaze drifting over the blooming flowers.
“Woof! Woof!”
A loud bark came from behind the shop door, followed by the sound of claws scratching at the wood.
“That’s Bobo, my dog.” Shi Anzhi smiled, pulling a key from her pocket and unlocking the side door.
The little yellow dog dashed out, wagging its tail and affectionately rubbing against Shi Anzhi’s pant leg. When it spotted the unfamiliar Omega, it let out a low growl, its fur bristling slightly.
The Omega instinctively hid behind Shi Anzhi, one hand tightly clutching the hem of her shirt.
“Bobo, no barking.”
Shi Anzhi crouched down, gently stroking the little dog’s head, her tone gentle yet firm. “This is my friend. You need to protect her from now on, okay?”
The little dog seemed to understand, tilting its head to look at Shi Anzhi, then at the strikingly beautiful stranger behind her, before tentatively wagging its tail and falling silent.
Shi Anzhi stood up and said to the Omega behind her, “It’s fine now. He doesn’t bite.”
“Let’s go inside.”
She switched on the shop light, and the dim, yellowish glow instantly dispelled the darkness within.
The ground-floor shop was small but neatly organized. On the left were shelves stocked with apples, oranges, pomelos, and other seasonal fruits. On the right stood a worn-out cash register and a small wooden table. The air was filled with the fragrant scent of various fruits.
The Omega followed closely behind Shi Anzhi, like a small animal, curiously observing this unfamiliar world. Her eyes swept over the chalk-written price tags hanging on the wall, the empty fruit crates piled in the corner, and finally settled on the little yellow dog lying at Shi Anzhi’s feet, secretly watching her.
“You must be hungry. Let’s go upstairs first. I’ll make something to eat.”
Shi Anzhi led the Omega toward the narrow wooden staircase leading to the second floor.
The upstairs space was even smaller than downstairs, simply divided into two rooms: an outer area serving as both the living room and kitchen, and an inner bedroom. The living room contained only a small green sofa, a low coffee table, and a basic stove. The walls were slightly mottled, but the floor was clean. The most striking feature of the room was the row of lush green plants on the windowsill, lending vitality to the otherwise humble space.
Shi Anzhi pointed to the sofa, which looked relatively comfortable, a velvet one she had picked up at a secondhand market the previous month.
“Have a seat for a bit. I’ll get you some water and then make you something to eat.”
The Omega nodded obediently and sat down on the sofa. She accepted the water Shi Anzhi handed her, and even after Shi Anzhi turned away, her eyes remained fixed on her.
It was already dinnertime. Shi Anzhi opened the refrigerator to find only a few eggs, half a head of cabbage, and some carrots. She had originally planned to go grocery shopping this afternoon but had been delayed because she went to pick up the Omega.
Shi Anzhi frowned slightly. It seemed they would have to make do with a simple meal tonight.
She rinsed the rice, cracked three eggs, and chopped some carrots, preparing to make a light and nutritious vegetable egg custard, a weak patient couldn’t handle anything greasy yet.
In District R, eggs were already a rare delicacy.
Shi Anzhi paused to think, then added her remaining G-11 nutrient supplement to the water while cooking the porridge. This supplement could quickly replenish energy, with a short half-life, she only used it when injured.
As she worked, the Omega’s gaze followed her closely. Shi Anzhi could feel that look pure curiosity and dependence.
The Omega truly couldn’t help but watch Shi Anzhi.
Her movements in the kitchen were practiced and fluid chopping vegetables, beating eggs, stirring, all done in one seamless flow. Her fingers were slender, her nails neatly trimmed, matching her striking yet somewhat stern face.
The Omega stared at Shi Anzhi for a long time.
The Alpha wore a faded T-shirt and cargo pants, her posture upright and resilient. Even in this cramped, dilapidated kitchen, she exuded a quiet, steadfast aura.
The aroma of the meal soon filled the small room.
Shi Anzhi served a bowl of steaming porridge and a large portion of tender yellow egg custard, placing them on the coffee table.
“Alright, eat while it’s hot.”
The meal before them was far from lavish, and for the first time in a long while, Shi Anzhi felt a pang of embarrassment. This was her first time caring for a human, and she wasn’t sure if she could do it well.
“I’ll buy some meat tomorrow. For today, let’s just have eggs, okay?”
The Omega looked at the food but didn’t start eating immediately. Instead, she pointed at the bowl, then at Shi Anzhi.
Shi Anzhi was taken aback was the Omega asking her to eat first?
Hesitantly, Shi Anzhi said, “I’ll eat later. You go ahead, you’re still too weak.”
Only then did the Omega pick up a spoon, carefully scooping a bite of the egg custard into her mouth. The smooth, melt-in-your-mouth texture, with its subtle savory flavor, made her eyes light up, her beautiful eyes curving into crescents.
She ate slowly, taking small, elegant bites as if savoring a gourmet feast.
Shi Anzhi sat on a small stool opposite her, watching her eat. After a few glances, she thought, Such refined table manners couldn’t possibly belong to someone from the slums.
Outside the window, the long-awaited rain finally began to fall.
It started as a light drizzle but quickly turned into a downpour, raindrops drumming against the windowpane with a steady pitter-patter.
The ceiling near the window began to leak, but Shi Anzhi had already placed a bucket there before leaving. Now, the rhythmic ding-dong of droplets hitting the bucket was impossible to ignore.
For some inexplicable reason, Shi Anzhi felt a twinge of guilt. She lowered her gaze, lost in thought. Given our current situation, can I really take care of an Omega?
The dim, warm glow of the room’s lighting enveloped them as the Omega slowly finished her meal.
She turned the bowl upside down to show Shi Anzhi, as if demonstrating how thoroughly she had eaten, and said softly, “It was delicious.”
Shi Anzhi snapped out of her thoughts, charmed by the gesture.
Satisfied and full, the Omega pursed her lips contentedly. The nutrient supplement had restored some of her energy, clearing her mind from its earlier haze and revealing a hint of her privileged upbringing.
With a sudden burst of excitement, she looked around the room again and remarked boldly, “What a shabby house!”
Shi Anzhi: “…”
Omega stood up and circled the house as if inspecting her territory. When she passed by the leaky spots, she paused in surprise for a long moment, then chuckled, “So fun~”
Shi Anzhi: “……?”
Just as she didn’t know how to react, Omega suddenly locked eyes with her and continued
“You, good person! Pretty!”
Shi Anzhi’s face uncontrollably flushed red.
