- The Little Jealous Cat Who Transmigrated into a Delicate Beauty
- Chapter 12 - The Magic Mirror
Susu listened to the human words suddenly popping out of the cat’s mouth, and for a long while, she simply couldn’t react.
Ye Qingqing regretted it the moment the words left her mouth. That old fogey, the Sky Cat, had warned her repeatedly: humans are fragile and easily frightened. She was to do her best not to reveal her supernatural nature in front of them, and certainly not to attempt human speech while in her cat form, lest they suffer a mishap and drop dead on the spot from the shock.
Seeing Susu’s dazed and entranced expression, Ye Qingqing grew extremely worried. In her desperation, she had no choice but to mimic the way “Little Darling” used to act spoiled and let out a meow.
“Master~”
Only then did Susu snap back to reality. She scrutinized Ye Qingqing intently.
“So, you actually can speak human language!”
Ye Qingqing’s furry head flopped onto the bedsheets, exposing her snowy white belly. Just as she was preparing to purr and beg for a rub, her four limbs were suddenly seized, and she was hoisted into the air.
The girl exerted force with her hand and tossed her onto the floor, following it up with a swift kick toward her backside.
“Go on, eat what you pooped!”
Ye Qingqing didn’t land steadily; she stumbled forward, nearly stepping right into that pile of cat droppings.
Damn it! That old geezer Sky Cat… what does he mean ‘humans are fragile and easily frightened’? This king sees that she is remarkably robust!
The chubby cat, having been soundly thrashed, cowered in the corner, not daring to come out.
The veteran “shoveler of feline waste” finished tidying the house and sat down at her dressing table to apply her makeup. Every time she went out to eat with others, she had to spend a long time fussing over the mirror.
The vanity drawer opened, revealing it was filled with high-end skincare products.
Susu lived frugally in her daily life, yet she never mistreated herself when it came to skincare. Furthermore, she had a habit: before starting her makeup, she would take out everything she needed and arrange them with absolute precision on the table.
Ye Qingqing, observing secretly from her corner, watched the bottles and jars lined up from left to right, covered in Arabic numerals. Her cat eyes widened in curiosity.
She watched as the human deftly picked up “Bottle No. 0” (toner), took out a cotton pad, applied a few drops to her face, and then returned it neatly to its original spot.
Next, she took “No. 1” (essence), applied a few drops, and put it back. Noticing it wasn’t perfectly aligned with the No. 0 bottle, she subconsciously nudged it up by about two pixels.
Then came No. 2 (lotion), No. 3 (primer), and No. 4 (foundation) in one smooth, continuous motion.
Cats are naturally full of curiosity toward new things, and Ye Qingqing didn’t miss a single detail.
Slowly, very slowly, that girl who had looked slightly sickly gradually became exquisite and full of vitality. By the end, a face had emerged that was entirely different from her original self.
Ye Qingqing was completely stunned.
She extended a short leg and poked half her body out from hiding.
“Meow?” (What kind of Face-Shifting Secret Art is this? It is actually this powerful!)
Susu turned her head and glanced toward the source of the sound under the bed. Ignoring it, she continued tidying up.
Risking the possibility of being beaten again, the little creature tilted her head and walked out.
“Meow?”
Seeing no reaction, the little thing’s courage gradually grew. Her chubby body wobbled as she approached the woman.
Susu had already developed an immunity to this cat. Although she wouldn’t be as close to her as she was to the previous “Little Darling,” she certainly wouldn’t recoil in terror as if facing a monster.
Because after just a few hours of interaction, she was essentially certain that this stupid cat couldn’t cause her any real harm.
As it turned out, the legendary “War God of the Tabby Tribe” only had skill with her tongue; at her core, she was merely a little cat who cared way too much about her dignity.
Just a moment ago, she had been swung through the air by her owner and beaten with a broom. Several times, she had nearly lost her self-control and wanted to transform into human form, but at the thought of the old Sky Cat’s nagging instructions, she forcibly endured it and did not reveal her true self.
Now, seeing that the human’s mood had softened, she trotted over again, craning her neck and howling.
“This King is asking you a question! What kind of Face-Shifting Secret Art was that?”
Susu looked back, glanced at her, and still ignored her. She picked up the neatly arranged makeup tools and began putting them into a box one by one.
Ye Qingqing used the strength in her hind legs to jump up, her “plum blossom” paws tapping twice on the empty tabletop.
“Meow!” (This King is asking you! Is your mouth sealed shut?)
Perhaps out of pure persistence, the girl’s gaze lingered on her chubby body for about a second.
Ye Qingqing thought the human had understood her cat language and stared expectantly at her bright red lips, her short tail wagging up, down, left, and right.
Susu paused for a second and then deliberately picked up the eyebrow razor on the table.
Ye Qingqing flinched, instinctively shrinking her neck back.
Who knew the human just simply wanted to put the item back where it belonged? To think that she, a majestic King, was frightened like this by a tiny human she was so angry she couldn’t even let out a meow, standing there stiffly with a dark expression.
Susu continued packing.
Ye Qingqing was left standing there, treated like thin air.
Feeling that this was boring, yet unable to suppress her curiosity, her cat paw reached out to poke a fluffy loose powder brush. She squinted her eyes, examining it closely.
“Meow?” (What is this?)
As if she couldn’t hear, Susu snatched the powder brush from the cat’s paw and tucked it into the bag along with the other items.
The third eyelid of the cat’s eye contracted downward as her eyeball rolled upward, rolling her eyes yet again.
“Meow!” (Hmph, this King doesn’t care for it anyway!)
Once everything was packed, Susu went to the wardrobe to find clothes.
Ye Qingqing also jumped down from the table, silently following behind her, wagging her tail and observing without blinking a single cat eye.
Susu put on a white shirt, a grey-blue checkerboard vest, a long pleated skirt, and topped it with a small blazer looking both professional and capable.
Ye Qingqing paced around her, looking left and right, finding it all very novel.
Susu finished changing and prepared to grab her bag.
Sensing where the human’s gaze was directed, Ye Qingqing acted first. Her short legs pitter-pattered forward as she wagged her tail to assert her presence.
Susu took her bag and went to change her shoes.
Ye Qingqing rushed after her, her front paws wrapping around the woman’s ankle, hanging her round, rolling body right onto her.
“Meow!” (You are not allowed to go out with that slinky fox!)
Susu exerted force with her ankle, trying to shake the creature off.
Ye Qingqing gripped like a brat throwing a tantrum, refusing to let go no matter what.
“Let go!”
“Meow!” (This King refuses!)
“Don’t think I won’t kick you!”
Ye Qingqing squeezed her eyes shut tightly, looking like a martyr facing execution, wrapping her entire cat body around the woman a total little hooligan!
Unable to shake her off, Susu crouched down and used all her strength to pry the cat’s paws away. Just as she got one off, the other latched right back on.
Feeling somewhat helpless, Susu waited for Ye Qingqing to be off guard and quickly flicked the cat’s head with her finger.
Ding!
Ye Qingqing clutched her face in pain.
Taking the opportunity, Susu grabbed the scruff of the cat’s neck and hoisted her up, leaving her dangling in mid-air a long, furry noodle.
“Meow!” (Release this King!)
Ye Qingqing was once again thrown heavily onto the bedsheets. She didn’t react for a long while, and by the time she crawled back up, the human had already grabbed her bag and bolted.
“Waaaa-oooh!”
No way. Her prey must absolutely not be defiled by that slinky fox!
Ye Qingqing did a 360-degree rapid spin, and another blue circle of light manifested, transforming her into human form. Just as she was about to dash out in pursuit, she suddenly remembered the old Sky Cat’s warning: You must not expose your true form in front of humans.
What should she do? What identity could she use that would stop her from dating that slinky fox without scaring her to death?
She stood in the room as a cat-human hybrid, scratching her head frantically. When she saw the mirror on the table, a spark of inspiration hit her:
That human… wasn’t she just sitting right here, going through all that trouble to change her appearance?
