- The Junior Sister Isn't Flirtatious At All; It's All Their Fault for Being Too Seductive
- Chapter 69 - The Miracle of Fuxia
Fuxia was a little pink-and-white dumpling of a girl, almost too cute for words. Yet, whenever Li Changting tried to pinch her cheeks, she would put on an air of solemnity, pushing his hand away with a serious expression. “Brother Li, we must hurry with our alchemy. We cannot be so derelict in our duties.”
“Derelict in our duties? And what exactly do you think your duty is?” Li Changting chuckled. He tucked his hands under her arms and hoisted her up, lifting the little girl high into the air.
Fuxia had no strength to resist. She could only pout and nestle into his embrace.
“Our duty is to refine high-quality pills!” Fuxia placed her hands on her hips and glared at Li Changting as if scolding him for being too playful. Her “little adult” act only made her look even more adorable.
“Actually, you just don’t want me to hold you, do you?” Li Changting exposed her thoughts without mercy.
Fuxia’s face flushed red, and she shyly turned her head away, refusing to look at him.
Lin Xi then scooped her up. “Let me hold her. I’m a descendant of the Nine-Tailed Fox; we are practically kin.” He pressed his cheek against Fuxia’s; she was as soft as a cloud.
“Can you all please stop holding me? My face is going to be ruined from all this rubbing!” Fuxia huffed, struggling to break free from Lin Xi’s grasp.
Right now, she wanted to stay far away from everyone. Even Big Sister Luoyue was no longer allowed to squish her cheeks!
Yue Wenqiu gave a gentle smile and patted her head softly. “Things were rushed yesterday, so we just wrapped you in whatever clothes were available. Today, I’ve brought many beautiful dresses. Would Fuxia like to try them on?”
“I want to be as pretty as Sister Luoyue!” Fuxia looked up, her eyes wide and obedient.
“Of course,” Yue Wenqiu smiled.
Jiang Luoyue took Fuxia behind a folding screen to change. Soon, Fuxia emerged wearing a pale purple dress with a soft pink inner lining, making her look like a dainty, precious bun.
“Beautiful!” Li Changting offered his praise generously.
“I think so too! Sister, I want to try that green one next,” Fuxia said, tugging on Jiang Luoyue’s hand.
Yue Wenqiu had commissioned a vast wardrobe—every color and style imaginable. Fuxia proceeded to try on several more outfits. There was a green dress with pale yellow flowers embroidered on the hem, and a peach-colored gown with willow-green ribbons that felt like the very essence of spring.
“I love them all! Which one should I wear?” Fuxia’s small hands brushed over the fabrics; she couldn’t choose a favorite.
“Every single one is adorable…” Lin Xi rubbed his chin, unable to pick a winner.
Even though they were supposed to be heading toward the Demon Abyss soon, here they were, acting like complete slackers while playing dress-up with a little girl.
“It’s no matter. We’ll just wear a different one every day,” Jiang Luoyue said with a laugh, stroking Fuxia’s hair.
“Yay!” Fuxia nodded happily.
“I’ve had the chefs prepare a feast. Why don’t we go out to eat?” Yue Wenqiu suggested.
“Ah, we aren’t eating Luoxing’s cooking?” Li Changting asked. He had become quite fond of Jiang Luoxing’s culinary skills.
“You guys go ahead and eat that. Wenqiu can take Fuxia and me to try the local fare,” Jiang Luoyue said. She was quite curious about the food served in the Dongyue Sect’s dining hall.
“Fine then. Just come back early,” Jiang Luoxing said. He had already prepared several dishes and didn’t want them to go to waste. They were experimental recipes, so he didn’t mind if his sister wanted to try something new.
And so, Jiang Luoyue and Yue Wenqiu stepped out, leading the beautifully dressed Fuxia by the hand.
On their way to the disciples’ dining hall, they encountered many cultivators. Everyone recognized Yue Wenqiu, and even those who hadn’t met Jiang Luoyue could guess her identity. Their gazes immediately landed on the adorable Fuxia, then shifted to the three of them walking together in perfect harmony.
Could this be… the daughter of the Senior Brother and Fellow Daoist Jiang? She’s so lively and cute! But they haven’t been together that long, have they? How is the child already three years old?!
The cultivators were curious but didn’t dare approach. They followed at a respectful distance, admiring the “warm scene of a family of three.”
When they reached the dining hall, a disciple quickly brought out several plates. “Fellow Daoist Jiang, these are the signature dishes of the Dongyue Sect. Cultivators from other sects always make sure to try them.”
The disciple smiled warmly, then looked at the little pink bundle sitting between Jiang Luoyue and Yue Wenqiu. His expression softened even further. “And who is this little miss?”
“My name is Fuxia,” the little girl replied politely.
“What a lovely name. Did your Daddy give it to you?” the disciple asked, handing her a sweet cake shaped like a peach.
“Sister Luoyue gave it to me,” Fuxia pointed her chubby finger toward Jiang Luoyue.
Sister? The disciple froze.
Seeing his expression, Jiang Luoyue and Yue Wenqiu realized the misunderstanding. No wonder so many people had been stealing glances at them on the way there.
Yue Wenqiu chuckled and explained, “This is Luoyue’s spirit beast. She just transformed yesterday. We didn’t expect her to be such a lovely little girl.”
Oh, so she’s just a spirit beast. The group of gossiping cultivators sitting nearby felt a wave of disappointment at the answer.
Fuxia tilted her head. This disciple had been looking at her with such intense curiosity a moment ago; why did he suddenly look so let down?
Struck by Fuxia’s squishy, adorable face, the disciple nearly clutched his chest in a daze. So cute… even if she isn’t Young Master Yue’s child, it’s impossible not to love her.
“A spirit beast transformation! That is truly remarkable. How about Uncle brings you another bowl of meat?” The disciple flashed a gentle, doting smile once more.
“Yes, please! Thank you, Uncle.” Fuxia was quite the carnivore; she didn’t particularly care for vegetables.
However, Sister Luoyue was always feeding her spirit fruits and spiritual vegetables, saying something about “supplementing her V-C.” Fuxia didn’t know what “V-C” was—even Brother Li Changting had no clue—and Sister Luoyue couldn’t explain it properly either; she just insisted on feeding it to her…
Soon, the disciple returned with a bowl of minced meat porridge topped with a beautifully poached egg made from a spirit beast egg. Fuxia began to eat happily, her cheeks puffing out. She didn’t even notice when a bit of meat stuck to her face.
Although she was a spirit beast, Fuxia was incredibly bright; learning to use chopsticks had been effortless for her.
“This spirit beast is so intelligent,” one cultivator remarked in awe. “Some spirit beasts still need to be hand-fed by their masters right after they transform.”
Jiang Luoyue realized then that, although Fuxia looked like a three-year-old toddler, she was behaving much more independently. She gently stroked the top of Fuxia’s head. “Eat slowly.”
Fuxia hummed a response but didn’t actually slow down, though she did become a bit more graceful with her bites.
After finishing their meal, they prepared to leave. A bold female cultivator stepped forward. “Fellow Daoist Jiang, would it be alright if I held your spirit beast for a moment?”
A spirit beast transformation was a rare sight, let alone one as heart-meltingly cute as this.
