- The Junior Sister Isn't Flirtatious At All; It's All Their Fault for Being Too Seductive
- Chapter 68 - The Chubby Little Girl
“Logically speaking, a Divine Beast’s breakthrough should involve at least nine heavenly lightning strikes, and sometimes even a dozen or more,” Lin Xi said with a frown. “Even my breakthrough from the early to mid-Nascent Soul stage drew nine strikes.”
Fuxia froze in his tracks. “Then I’d better not stay too close to Big Sister.”
The little tortoise obediently scurried back to the spot where he had just withstood the lightning. “I’ll wait a bit longer then.”
“Sister, I can feel that my shell has truly grown much stronger!” Fuxia said with a smile.
After a long wait, the formidable ninth bolt finally descended, crashing down as if the heavens had been gathering strength for a singular, massive blow.
Fuxia hurriedly held his shell over his head and channeled all his spiritual power to resist the strike.
To everyone’s surprise, immediately after the ninth bolt fell, the tenth and eleventh followed in rapid succession.
The lightning continued to strike until the seventeenth bolt. Fuxia, who had initially handled it with ease and even a bit of smugness, was now wailing in distress, “When is this going to end?!”
Jiang Luoyue could no longer stand by and watch. After the fifteenth bolt struck, she rushed to Fuxia’s side to help.
“Seventeen strikes,” Jiang Luoyue exhaled, her heart still racing. Even though she had helped the little guy shoulder a portion of the burden, she still found it taxing.
“There should be one more,” Lin Xi said, his brow furrowed.
“The little fellow will be alright, won’t he?” Li Changting couldn’t help but worry.
“He is a Divine Beast, after all. He won’t fall that easily,” Yue Wenqiu patted his shoulder, urging him to relax.
The thunderclouds were pitch black and heavy. Jiang Luoyue finally understood the saying, ‘The black clouds weigh down upon the city, threatening to crush it.’ The sight of the dense, oppressive clouds and the blinding white flashes of lightning was enough to make anyone tremble.
Fuxia huddled closer to Jiang Luoyue’s feet. “Sister…”
“Don’t be afraid,” Jiang Luoyue said, gently stroking his small head.
As the final heavenly lightning descended, Fuxia’s shell expanded, shielding Jiang Luoyue beside him. “Sister, leave this to me!”
But Jiang Luoyue could not let him face it alone. She drew her peach branch to help withstand the strike. The branch was no longer just a part of the Taixu Realm; it had become an embodiment of her own spiritual power, capable of changing shape at will. At that moment, it took the form of a peach wood sword.
The lightning struck instantly.
The peach wood sword glowed brilliantly. Gu Wangfeng, sensing the powerful aura through the branch from within the Taixu Realm, also channeled his spiritual energy to assist.
“Thank you, Wangfeng,” Jiang Luoyue murmured.
The sword flickered with light as if responding to her.
The lightning tribulation finally concluded, but Fuxia felt the spiritual energy within his dantian clashing violently. It was agonizing.
Seeing his pained expression, Jiang Luoyue quickly scooped him up. “What’s wrong, Fuxia?”
Normally, after a tribulation, one should be filled with calm energy and a warm dantian.
Lin Xi, noticing the spiritual mist overflowing from Fuxia’s dantian, suddenly realized what was happening. “He’s about to take human form!”
“What?” Jiang Luoyue, Yue Wenqiu, Li Changting, and Jiang Luoxing all wore the same expression of shock.
“The Black Tortoise race has a vast lifespan. Logically, this little guy is still a baby and shouldn’t be old enough to transform. It must be because he accepted the inheritance that he’s transforming so early,” Lin Xi explained.
Ah… Jiang Luoyue thought. So the little tortoise is being forced to grow up early.
“Waaah, my baby… Sister hasn’t held you enough yet,” Jiang Luoyue cried, clutching the little tortoise.
In the next heartbeat, the hard-shelled tortoise transformed into a soft, squishy little girl. She looked to be about three or four years old, with chubby “milk-fat” cheeks and porcelain-fair skin. Her dark hair cascaded over her shoulders—she was truly as lovely as carved jade.
Jiang Luoyue was stunned. So… so cute! She had assumed “growing up early” meant becoming an adult, but she was still so tiny.
The group stood in a daze for a moment.
“How adorable,” Li Changting was the first to speak. He had a weakness for such cute things. “I want to hold her.”
He remembered when Jiang Luoyue was three or four, and he was already a youth. Back then, Luoyue was just as soft and sweet; if anyone teased her, she would turn her face away and giggle in her parents’ arms.
The chubby little girl lay in Jiang Luoyue’s arms. Despite being surrounded by so many people, she wasn’t afraid—after all, these were all familiar “Big Brothers.”
She looked up at Jiang Luoyue, worried her sister might be jealous. Seeing no objection, Fuxia reached out her tiny hands toward Li Changting.
Li Changting picked her up as if he were holding a precious treasure, bouncing the little girl gently. “Fuxia baby, you are so cute!”
When Fuxia was in tortoise form, he was often carried and swung around by them, so she was used to it and found it quite fun. Children, after all, love such play. Li Changting tossed her lightly into the air and caught her, making the little girl squeal with joy.
“Let me hold her too,” Jiang Luoxing cut in. Without waiting for a nod from Li Changting, he scooped the little girl into his own arms.
Fuxia gazed at him with innocent, clear eyes and didn’t resist.
The little girl’s body was soft and light, as if she had no bones. Jiang Luoxing nervously braced his hand against her back to support her.
Then it was Yue Wenqiu and Lin Xi’s turn to compete for a turn holding her. Eventually, even Fuxia’s great patience ran out.
The little girl’s mouth puckered, and her eyes instantly turned red as she looked at Jiang Luoyue.
Knowing that a child’s mood can change like the weather, Yue Wenqiu quickly handed her back to Jiang Luoyue.
Fuxia’s eyes were rimmed with red, but she managed to keep the tears from falling. She wrapped her arms around Jiang Luoyue’s neck and leaned in, burying her face in her sister’s shoulder.
“Sister, I want to sleep,” Fuxia said in a soft, milky voice, laced with a hint of grievance.
“Alright,” Jiang Luoyue said tenderly. She held her with one arm and gently patted her back with the other, swaying slightly.
Fuxia lay obediently on her shoulder. By the time the group returned to the courtyard, she was fast asleep.
The little “pink and white dumpling” slept soundly, her mouth slightly open and a bit of drool escaping—she looked quite silly.
Jiang Luoyue intended to take her back to her own room, but Jiang Luoxing suddenly spoke up. “Let her sleep in the same room as Senior Brother Li.”
“Why?” Jiang Luoyue was confused. Even though Fuxia was small, she felt it was important to teach her from a young age not to sleep in the same room as men.
“Hasn’t Fuxia been learning alchemy lately? It’s perfect for her to be with Senior Brother,” Jiang Luoxing said without blinking.
He certainly wasn’t going to admit that he wanted to spend the night alone with his sister. Besides, even if he wasn’t there, Lin Xi and Yue Wenqiu surely felt the same—having a little girl in the room would be quite inconvenient for their plans.
Lin Xi and Yue Wenqiu clearly caught his drift and chimed in with their agreement.
“Very well,” Jiang Luoyue nodded, handing Fuxia over to Li Changting.
Li Changting was more than happy to babysit. To him, this soft little girl was simply too endearing.
“Don’t worry, Luoyue. I’ll take good care of her.”
