- The Junior Sister Isn't Flirtatious At All; It's All Their Fault for Being Too Seductive
- Chapter 67 - Fuxia’s Breakthrough
When Yue Chongshan arrived unexpectedly to find Jiang Luoyue, she was cradling Lin Xi in his fox form, gently brushing his fur.
Nearby, the little Black Tortoise, Fuxia, watched with envy. He wanted his Big Sister to hold him and brush him too, but unfortunately, he had no fur.
“Uncle Yue, what brings you here?” Jiang Luoyue asked, surprised by his visit.
As soon as Yue Chongshan entered the courtyard, he sensed a powerful demonic aura. His gaze fell upon the fox in her arms.
“Is this… the Demon King?” Yue Chongshan looked at Lin Xi. His son, Yue Wenqiu, had previously introduced him to Jiang Luoyue’s various companions.
After shaking off his initial embarrassment, Lin Xi transformed into his human form. “It is I.”
“Greetings, Great Demon King,” Yue Chongshan said respectfully before turning back to Jiang Luoyue. “Miss Jiang, I have heard that you possess Realm-Transcending Pills. Could you perhaps spare two for me?”
He paused, his expression solemn. “I know how precious they are. However, the road ahead is treacherous, and I merely wish to secure a future for the immortal sects.”
“The House of Wind and Clouds has them. Go to the auction,” Lin Xi interjected, his face practically screaming, ‘Come and give me your business.’
Yue Chongshan froze for a moment, then let out a small laugh.
“I would naturally pay for them. However, the auction prices at the House of Wind and Clouds are staggering. My pockets are a bit shallow, and I find it difficult to bear such a cost.” Yue Chongshan had indeed heard that the House of Wind and Clouds had recently acquired these pills. While the Dongyue Sect was wealthy, mobilizing tens of millions of spirit stones on short notice was a logistical nightmare.
Jiang Luoyue smiled. “Uncle Yue, there is no need for—”
“Don’t give them to him!” Luan Yao’s voice screamed in her mind.
“Why?” Jiang Luoyue asked inwardly, confused.
“His body cannot withstand the backlash,” Luan Yao sighed. “He is at the Void Refinement stage with a lifespan of about five thousand years. In human terms, he is already an eighty-year-old man. If he doesn’t break through to the Body Integration stage soon, he will likely perish when his lifespan expires. The backlash from a Realm-Transcending Pill is intense; not everyone can mitigate it through dual cultivation like you can.”
“I see…” Jiang Luoyue sighed helplessly. Even the “immortals” who seemed to have infinite lives in the eyes of mortals would eventually face their end.
“I’m sorry, Uncle Yue, but I cannot give them to you,” Jiang Luoyue said. “The backlash from the pill is severe. I fear you would not be able to survive it.”
Yue Chongshan did not take offense. Instead, he gave a hearty laugh. “If I can contribute to the righteous path of the immortal sects before I die, it wouldn’t be a loss.”
He swept his sleeve back with bravado, a gesture that moved Jiang Luoyue.
Nevertheless, she remained firm. “I still cannot give them to you. If possible, let us leave the opportunities for such sacrifices to the younger generation. How about that?”
She gave him a gentle smile. Yue Chongshan hadn’t expected such an answer. He had originally thought she was merely a beautiful temptress who had used her charms and a bit of talent to bewitch men. Now, he finally understood why his son, Yue Wenqiu, would rather share her with others than let her go.
She was a girl who was as powerful as she was gentle.
“Hahahaha!” Yue Chongshan laughed loudly. “Fine!”
“The opportunities can stay with the youth, but we old fellows can’t lag behind. Be sure to save some of the glory for us!”
Yue Chongshan left without the pills, but he wasn’t angry. Upon returning home, he spent a great deal of time praising Jiang Luoyue to his wife.
Back in the courtyard, Jiang Luoyue looked at Lin Xi with a mischievous grin. “Do you want me to keep brushing your fur?”
“No need. Scrub Fuxia’s shell instead,” Lin Xi said, picking up the little tortoise.
Fuxia kicked his legs in the air. “Don’t hold me like that!” He put his tiny claws on his hips, looking quite indignant.
Jiang Luoyue used a soft brush to scrub his shell and give him a bath. Once finished, they sat down to meditate.
Fuxia could feel it—his cultivation speed in the secret realms couldn’t compare to being by Jiang Luoyue’s side. She seemed to naturally attract the surrounding spiritual energy, making it easier for anyone near her to practice. Fuxia had not yet fully refined the Black Tortoise inheritance, so he seized the moment to absorb the energy.
Suddenly, thunder rumbled across the sky.
Jiang Luoyue and Lin Xi snapped their eyes open. “Who is breaking through?”
They didn’t feel a surge in their own dantians, yet the thunderclouds were gathering with a ferocity they had never seen before.
“What’s happening?” Lin Xi noticed the clouds centering directly over them. Someone in their group was definitely ascending.
“It’s me…” Fuxia sheepishly raised a claw.
“You’re breaking through?” Jiang Luoyue looked at him in shock.
“No wonder the clouds are so powerful,” Lin Xi nodded. “The breakthrough of a Divine Beast is on a completely different level than a normal person.”
“Quick, to the back mountain! We can’t let the lightning destroy Wenqiu’s home,” Jiang Luoyue cried. She scooped up Fuxia and summoned the Green Infant Sword, flying toward the peaks. Lin Xi followed closely behind.
Li Changting, Jiang Luoxing, and Yue Wenqiu saw the clouds and Jiang Luoyue’s retreating figure and gave chase. The thunderclouds followed Fuxia like a shadow.
“Luoyue! Are you breaking through again?” Yue Wenqiu shouted as he reached the mountain.
“No, it’s not me! It’s Fuxia!” Jiang Luoyue held the tortoise, keeping her distance from the others.
“Sister, I can handle this myself. Go stay with the brothers,” Fuxia said sweetly.
“I’m worried,” Jiang Luoyue replied, eyeing the menacing sky.
“I’m the only Divine Beast left in the world! The Heavens have to spoil me,” Fuxia huffed.
Jiang Luoyue couldn’t help but laugh. She left the Green Infant Sword with him as a precaution. “Don’t push yourself too hard.”
Lin Xi remained anxious. “I fear the Heavens won’t ‘spoil’ him. They might see him as an anomaly outside the natural order and try to erase him instead.”
“This Lin Xi actually has a brain,” Luan Yao commented suddenly. “If Divine Beasts were truly protected by the Heavens, they wouldn’t have gone extinct.”
Jiang Luoyue’s heart sank. “Then I should help.”
Luan Yao chuckled. “Don’t be afraid. This little Black Tortoise is stronger than he looks. Their race is famous for their defense. Just watch for now.”
Hearing this, Jiang Luoyue felt slightly relieved, but she kept her eyes fixed on Fuxia. If anything went wrong, she would step in instantly.
The lightning bolts fell one after another, each stronger than the last. A massive green phantom in the shape of a tortoise shell appeared over Fuxia, and the aura of a Divine Beast began to spread.
Seeing her worried expression, Fuxia shouted in his soft, milky voice, “It’s okay, Sister! I can take it!”
The lightning was punishing, but for a creature undergoing a tribulation, it was beneficial. Each strike acted as a hammer, tempering his shell and making his defenses even more indestructible.
However, after the eighth bolt, the ninth one failed to fall.
Thinking it was over, Fuxia happily started running toward them.
“Wait!” Lin Xi shouted, trying to stop him.
