- The Junior Sister Isn't Flirtatious At All; It's All Their Fault for Being Too Seductive
- Chapter 45 - The Unexpected Cauldron
Li Changting carefully tucked away all his jars and bottles. “We need to make the best use of these pills and sell them for as much as possible,” he said, cradling the medicine as if it were a priceless treasure.
A thought suddenly struck Jiang Luoyue: for a sword cultivator, their blade was like a wife—they would rather starve than let their sword go uncared for. For an Alchemist, did that make the cauldron the wife and the pills their “love children”?
The thought made her giggle. Li Changting looked at her, completely bewildered. “What is it, Junior Sister?”
His expression was so earnest and simple that Jiang Luoyue only wanted to laugh more. Unaware of the joke, Li Changting simply thought his sister looked incredibly cute and beautiful when she laughed. He vowed to work even harder at alchemy so as not to become a burden to this big family.
“When the Fengman Pavilion holds its auction, they sell pills and artifacts alongside the rare treasures. Prices there are higher than the market average, so we can submit these pills for sale then,” Yue Wenqiu suggested. Since they were heading there anyway, the timing for the pills was perfect.
“That’s right! Master Yue has the best ideas,” Li Changting chirped, excitedly gathering his pills and already imagining them turning into a mountain of spirit stones.
“So, when do we leave?” he asked.
“The auction starts in seven days. I’ll book rooms at a nearby inn first. Let’s set out tomorrow,” Yue Wenqiu decided. He had many acquaintances in the cultivation world; a quick message to a friend would secure their accommodations.
“Alright, let’s pack up. I’ll go inform my aunt,” Jiang Luoyue said. She had never seen a cultivation-world auction before and wondered if it would be anything like the ones back in her modern life.
Li Changting wanted to squeeze in a few more batches of pills before they left, but then he remembered—he didn’t have a cauldron anymore. His shoulders slumped in dejection.
“Rest well for these two days, Eldest Senior Brother! We’ll find you a high-quality cauldron at the auction!” Jiang Luoyue comforted him with a smile.
However, to everyone’s surprise, when Li Changting woke up the next morning, he found a brand-new cauldron sitting right outside his door. He reached out to probe it with his spiritual energy and discovered its quality was exceptional—in fact, at his current cultivation level, he couldn’t even fully harness its potential yet.
Aside from Jiang Luoyue, Li Changting couldn’t imagine who would give him such a gift. Jiang Luoxing? He had no money. Yue Wenqiu? Even if he helped, it would surely be at Luoyue’s request.
Beaming with joy, he hugged the cauldron and ran to find Jiang Luoyue. “Junior Sister, thank you for sending me this cauldron!”
Jiang Luoxing watched him with a look of disdain, unimpressed by his “cheap” grin. But when he heard it was a gift from his sister, he immediately felt a pang of jealousy. Cauldrons were expensive; his sister didn’t have many spirit stones in her pocket, yet she had been so generous to him?
“Sister, when did you send a cauldron? How come I didn’t know?” Jiang Luoxing turned to her, his expression clearly saying: Either you give me a gift too, or this isn’t over.
Jiang Luoyue reached out to pat his head. He lowered it submissively, letting her touch him like a puppy nudging its head into its master’s palm.
“I didn’t send you a cauldron,” Jiang Luoyue said, turning to Li Changting, who was watching their interaction with a piteous gaze.
Li Changting was confused. “Then who gave it to me? Yue Wenqiu? I’ll go ask him.”
But it wasn’t from Yue Wenqiu either. The group grew increasingly puzzled.
“Could it be Song Weiyuan?” Yue Wenqiu asked.
“Impossible. I haven’t even mentioned this to my cousin,” Jiang Luoyue frowned. “Even if he heard the explosion, he would have asked before sending a replacement. Not every explosion ruins the furnace.”
A creepy, “watched” feeling washed over Jiang Luoyue. “Someone is definitely following us in secret, observing our every move.”
“And their cultivation must be higher than ours, or we wouldn’t have failed to notice them,” Yue Wenqiu added, his brow furrowed. Since both he and Jiang Luoyue were at the early Nascent Soul stage, their stalker had to be incredibly powerful. Though they felt no malice from this person yet, the sensation of being constantly watched made their skin crawl.
“The enemy is in the dark while we are in the light. We’ll deal with it later,” Yue Wenqiu sighed. They wanted to set a trap, but they didn’t know where to start. If only they had an Array Cultivator among them, catching the intruder would be a piece of cake.
The person watching in the shadows: I’m literally sweating here, guys…
Li Changting, still clutching the cauldron, suddenly asked, “So… can I still use it?”
Everyone turned to look at him in unison.
“The quality is really good. I can even keep using it after I break through to the Nascent Soul stage,” Li Changting said, his voice full of reluctance to let it go.
Yue Wenqiu rubbed his temples in resignation.
“Use it. If we ever find out who it is, we’ll just pay them back,” Jiang Luoyue said, patting Li Changting on the shoulder. “Since Eldest Senior Brother likes it, don’t worry so much. It was delivered to our door, after all.”
Li Changting nodded, mentally calculating that this cauldron must be worth at least a hundred thousand spirit stones… He needed to get back to refining.
On the night before their departure, Li Changting came to Jiang Luoyue’s door and knocked. When she opened it, his smile instantly vanished, replaced by an awkward look as he saw Jiang Luoxing standing right behind her.
“What is it, Brother? Do you need something?” Jiang Luoyue asked.
Li Changting noticed her clothes were slightly disheveled, as if she had just thrown them on in a hurry.
“Junior Sister, did I… disturb you?” Li Changting’s ears turned red. He wasn’t some sheltered child; seeing her like this, he figured she and Jiang Luoxing were about to turn in for the night. No wonder Jiang Luoxing was glaring at him with such resentment—no one likes being interrupted at a time like that.
“Not at all,” Jiang Luoyue said, waving it off. She had just been getting ready for bed; they hadn’t actually started anything “bad” yet.
“Junior Sister, you don’t need to call for me when you leave tomorrow morning,” Li Changting said, scratching his head.
“Huh? Why?” Jiang Luoyue was stunned.
“I plan to go into the Floating Wave House to refine pills. I’ve been practicing hard lately and feel like I’m about to reach the peak of the Golden Core stage. I want to push a bit further,” Li Changting explained.
“That’s wonderful!” Jiang Luoyue was happy to hear he was close to a breakthrough. “I just hope the lightning tribulation doesn’t strike inside the Floating Wave House.”
“Eldest Senior Brother, if you’re about to face your tribulation, make sure you come out quickly. I don’t want the house to get damaged,” she added, fidgeting with her fingers. Sorry, I’m just a little stingy.
“Don’t worry, Junior Sister,” Li Changting promised, making a reassuring gesture. “I’ll be going now. I won’t disturb you any longer.” He hurried away, not daring to stay another second, lest Jiang Luoxing grab him by the collar and toss him out of the courtyard himself.
Jiang Luoyue whipped her head around to look at Jiang Luoxing. His “innocent” act hadn’t quite caught up with his previous glare yet, but the moment their eyes met, his expression shifted back into a sweet, harmless mask.
“Sister,” he called out softly.
“Luoxing, you’re always like this.” Jiang Luoyue reached up, her thumb grazing his soft lips.
