The Investment Mogul Calls Himself my Husband - Chapter 2
Chapter 2: Drinking Party
“President Zhuang.” Su Yuyan looked up shyly at Zhuang Qingyuan, then quickly lowered his head and called out in a small, fidgety voice.
“Are you a mosquito!” Zhuang Qingyuan looked at the affected and artificial Su Yuyan, his brow furrowed. How could such a thing be Su Yi’s brother?
How is he worthy!
Lacking any patience, he urged in a cold voice: “Answer me. Who did you just say looks like him?”
“What!” Su Yuyan’s eyelashes trembled. He didn’t want to admit it, but in his heart, he knew Zhuang Qingyuan was asking about Su Yi.
After all, there were rumors that Zhuang Qingyuan had been investigating that car accident like a madman.
When Su Yuyan first heard those rumors, he certainly didn’t believe them. Su Yi was nothing but sludge in a stinking ditch, while who was Zhuang Qingyuan? He was the dazzling sun in the sky.
How could the sun pay attention to filthy silt? It was simply delusional!
But now, he had to believe it!
Su Yuyan’s fingertips, clenching his sleeves, turned white.
However, he still put on a well-behaved look, gazing innocently at Zhuang Qingyuan, and replied in a strained voice: “Is President Zhuang asking about my brother? I was just seeing things just now. Perhaps it’s because I miss my brother too much, so ever since he died, everyone I look at seems like him.”
“Don’t you dare say he’s dead!” Zhuang Qingyuan raised his hand and pinched Su Yuyan’s jaw, forcing his face up.
Yes, it was a “grab”; Su Yuyan even felt as if his chin would be torn off in the next second.
Zhuang Qingyuan stared into Su Yuyan’s eyes, his gaze sinister: “He changed his itinerary on short notice. Does that car accident have anything to do with you?”
“It wasn’t me…” Su Yuyan spoke with difficulty, shaking his head frantically, his tears falling haphazardly from the pain.
“It better not be. Otherwise, I will make you wish you were dead!”
After finishing his words, Zhuang Qingyuan flung his arm back, throwing Su Yuyan onto the ground with a “thud.” The sound of a heavy object hitting the floor could be heard throughout the hall.
An assistant stepped forward to offer a handkerchief. Zhuang Qingyuan wiped his hands, tossed it into a nearby trash can, and strode out of Fog and Clouds.
Su Yuyan lay on the ground, dazed from the fall. He struggled several times before scrambling to his feet, a deep red handprint left on his chin.
Su Yi. It’s all because of Su Yi. Su Yuyan now wished he could dig Su Yi out of his grave and mince him into meat filling to vent his hatred.
Why was everyone obsessed with Su Yi? Lu Rong and Lu Li were one thing, but how could even Zhuang Qingyuan be like that? He was unwilling to accept it. Whenever others saw him, all they mentioned was how excellent and powerful his brother Su Yi was; no one saw him!
Lu Li walked over and helped Su Yuyan up: “Why would Zhuang Qingyuan ask that? Are you related to Su Yi’s car accident?”
“Even you come to question me? You suspect me too, don’t you?” Su Yuyan stood steady with a face full of grievance, shoved Lu Li’s hand away, ignored him, and walked out angrily with his head down.
Lu Li hurriedly chased after him: “You are Su Yi’s brother, how could I suspect you? I just wanted to ask why Zhuang Qingyuan would say such a thing.”
“Why did Zhuang Qingyuan say that? How should I know!”
“I didn’t even know when Su Yi and Zhuang Qingyuan got to know each other.”
“Isn’t it said that Zhuang Qingyuan hasn’t returned to the country at all these past few years? Could it be that they hooked up during the time Su Yi went abroad?” Su Yuyan turned to look at Lu Li. “You tell me, since Su Yi had resources like Zhuang Qingyuan, why did he still agree to a marriage alliance with you?”
Lu Li was stumped by the question. For the marriage alliance between the Su and Lu families, the original choice was his elder brother, Lu Rong, but Su Yi flatly refused. Only then was it changed to him, because he and Su Yi had grown up together and had a deeper friendship.
But upon receiving the news that Su Yi had agreed to the marriage, Lu Li was still very surprised!
Lu Li understood Su Yi to some extent. Because Su Yi had witnessed the pain and torment his mother endured in her marriage, he fundamentally did not believe in marriage, much less in the loyalty or longevity of emotions.
Therefore, Su Yi put all his true feelings into his acting.
In real life, Su Yi was avoidant when it came to feelings. Whenever emotions were brought up, Su Yi would respond with a “playboy” mentality, using it as a protective shell to keep himself from investing true feelings.
So for Su Yi to finally agree to marry him, Lu Li was astonished. He guessed it was likely because of Su Xinghan’s repeated coercion that Su Yi finally made a last-resort compromise.
After all, Su Yi still cared about Su Xinghan; that was his biological father and his only living relative in the world.
…
Su Yi reached the third floor. Just as he exited the elevator, he was pushed against the wall by a group of people coming head-on.
“Teacher Qin Yan, Director Xu, this way please. The elevator is here.”
From a corner, Su Yi looked up and saw Director Xu Sheng, whom he had just collaborated with, and Qin Yan, who had always been hostile toward him, passing by him with faces full of smiles.
The two were surrounded by a crowd; not one person spared him a glance.
After the crowd left, Su Yi lowered his head and laughed. This feeling was quite… novel!
True, he was no longer the Best Actor Su surrounded at the center; he had to get used to this now.
But this sudden change, though it felt like only yesterday, was truly a bit hard to get used to!
Su Yi leaned against the wall and lit a cigarette. With those two together now, it seemed the protagonist of the movie he was filming, Zhuo Lu, had already been replaced by Qin Yan!
As soon as he died, Qin Yan got the role. It’s truly…
Su Yi gave a bitter laugh. Director Xu’s words—”This role belongs to no one but you”—were still ringing in his ears. But in just over a month, everything had changed!
Su Yi lowered his gaze and started walking. With a cigarette in his mouth, he headed toward a room not far ahead and pushed the door open directly.
“Qian Xu, didn’t I notify you early? Why are you still so late!” Seeing the late-arriving Qian Xu, Zhou Bopi habitually shouted at him.
But noticing the gazes from those beside him, he lowered his voice.
“President Qiu came early just for you. Come over quickly and toast President Qiu.” Zhou Bopi leaned down submissively with a fawning look at Qiu Liang, his smile exploding so much that the wrinkles at the corners of his eyes could practically hold a cell phone.
“President Qiu specifically waited for you today. First, toast President Qiu three times as an apology.” Zhou Bopi handed over a full glass of wine.
“President Qiu, Qian Xu’s tolerance is definitely top-tier. Tonight, let him drink to your heart’s content with you.”
The eyes of the people in the room focused on Qian Xu. Most were indifferent, sitting with legs crossed like they were watching a show!
Su Yi scanned the room. There was also a director he had collaborated with before—it turned out this was the “Director Yun” Zhou Bopi mentioned.
This director was someone Su Yi had worked with when he first entered the circle. He remembered the man as being decent, but even if he couldn’t stand what was happening, he only shook his head.
Su Yi wasn’t surprised; he was well aware of the cold indifference of people in this circle.
Taking the glass, Su Yi took the cigarette out of his mouth, the corners of his lips curling slightly into a wild, unrestrained smile!
Zhou Bopi looked at Qian Xu, feeling that Qian Xu was a bit different today. Why was he smoking? He didn’t remember Qian Xu smoking!
Probably because he knew he couldn’t escape and was just giving up on himself. Zhou Bopi didn’t care; either way, Qian Xu had to accompany President Qiu tonight whether he wanted to or not!
In the next second, Su Yi placed the glass of wine directly on the table, picked up a bottle of white liquor from the table, opened it, glanced at Qiu Liang, and asked: “President Qiu… wants to drink?”
Zhou Bopi beamed with joy: “That’s right! Drinking from a glass isn’t satisfying enough. Qian Xu drinks by the whole bottle.”
Qiu Liang sat back in his chair, staring at Qian Xu’s face—handsome with a bit of wild abandon, especially the way he looked coming in with a cigarette in his mouth, flamboyant and carrying a wicked charm, incredibly vivid.
He had never played with one like this before.
Just looking at him was exciting!
The former Movie Actor Su was of this type, but that wasn’t someone he could touch!
He didn’t expect to have such good luck today, meeting such a top-tier newcomer!
He had to sigh that the entertainment industry was truly a good place; as soon as the old ones leave, the new ones arrive.
In just this short time, Qiu Liang’s eyes scanned Qian Xu from top to bottom several times: “I heard them say your tolerance is good. Come, let me see exactly how good it is.”
“Sure!” With a playful smile on the corners of his mouth, Su Yi raised his hand and poured the bottle of liquor directly over Qiu Liang’s head…
Qiu Liang was probably dazed by the pouring; he just sat there motionlessly and took it all.
Su Yi threw the empty bottle back on the table, put the cigarette back in his mouth, pulled out a tissue to wipe his hands, and asked casually: “How is it, President Qiu? Does it taste good?”
The entire room instantly fell into a dead silence. The expressions on everyone’s faces were spectacular.
Zhou Bopi froze for a few seconds. Coming to his senses, he quickly grabbed tissues to wipe the alcohol off Qiu Liang’s face and body. His hands were shaking, and his voice trembled as he roared at Qian Xu: “What are you doing! Do you want to die? Hurry up and apologize to President Qiu!”
“It’s nothing, just a bit of wine. Xiao Xu is just playing with me,” Qiu Liang laughed and waved his hand. “The child is young and doesn’t know better, after all. He just needs more teaching in the future.”
At this moment, Qiu Liang was staring at Qian Xu. This personality… he liked it too much; it suited his taste perfectly. Conquering him like this would be much more interesting.
Unlike those previous little newcomers—which one of them wasn’t shrinking and timid upon seeing him? No meaning, no fun. Not like this one today… bold and flavorful!
“Yes, yes,” Zhou Bopi responded repeatedly, not expecting that this Qiu Liang actually liked being mistreated; what a strange kink.
Suddenly not knowing what to say, Zhou Bopi felt a bit worried. Had he really found a gold master (sugar daddy) for Qian Xu?
If Qian Xu’s wings grew strong in the future, would he come back to settle scores with him?
Beside them, Director Yun saw this scene and also laughed:
“Qian Xu, is it? I happen to have a role here that I think fits you quite well. You can come for an audition tomorrow.”
Su Yi looked at Zhou Bopi: “Director Yun, my apologies, but my manager won’t let me take on roles.”
“What kind of manager doesn’t let an actor take on roles?” Qiu Liang glared at Zhou Bopi and asked.
“How could that be? No, no, definitely not,” Zhou Bopi waved his hands, cold sweat breaking out. He didn’t dare offend Director Yun or Qiu Liang.
Qian Xu had already started complaining about him in front of Qiu Liang; things would be terrible in the future.
Zhou Bopi regretted it; he couldn’t let Qian Xu follow Qiu Liang.
“The wine has been ‘drunk.’ I hope everyone has a good time. I have things to do, so I’ll be leaving first,” Qian Xu said, then turned and left.
The group of lively people at the table didn’t expect this direction today. They all sat there coldly, staring at each other.
“Qian Xu, stop right there!” Zhou Bopi chased after him.
Su Yi stopped, looked back coldly at Zhou Bopi, took out the cigarette, and flicked away the ash: “What, want me to go back in?”
No, he didn’t. Zhou Bopi already regretted letting Qiu Liang see Qian Xu tonight.
He originally intended to act as a middleman, letting Qiu Liang play with Qian Xu and be done with it, so he could gain a favor in a relationship.
But looking at it now, Qiu Liang was clearly genuinely interested in Qian Xu. He might end up losing more than he gained.
“Go back then. Don’t forget to go for Director Yun’s audition tomorrow,” Zhou Bopi deliberately raised his voice so the people in the room could hear, taking the chance to throw Qian Xu a bit of a “sweet” bone. Anyway, going for an audition didn’t mean he’d be chosen.
After all, Qian Xu hadn’t participated in any training over the past two years; he had no acting skills to speak of.
Su Yi turned and left. As for dealing with Zhou Bopi, he needed to wait for evidence to send the man straight to prison.
Qian Xu having left, Zhou Bopi went back in to say nice things and apologize to Qiu Liang.
Qiu Liang was very easy to talk to today. He had no intention of blaming anyone and said in a very good mood: “Isn’t Xiao Xu going to Director Yun’s audition tomorrow? I also have an investment in Director Yun’s film. There will be plenty of opportunities to meet again in the future.”
Since he finally found someone so much to his taste, he was going to take his time playing with him!
“Yes, yes, President Qiu is right. I’ve opened a room for President Qiu upstairs. Why don’t you go upstairs to change your clothes?”
Zhou Bopi agreed with his mouth, but in his heart, he already regretted letting Qian Xu go for the audition tomorrow. This Qiu Liang was playing for keeps; he had truly set his sights on Qian Xu.
No, he had to stop Qian Xu. He absolutely must not let Qian Xu go to the audition tomorrow, otherwise, the thing he was worried about would likely happen.
