The Investment Mogul Calls Himself my Husband - Chapter 1
Chapter 1: Rebirth
Su Yi woke up in an unfamiliar room. Bright sunlight shone from the windowsill onto the bed, somewhat piercing his eyes. Su Yi subconsciously raised his hand to block it.
Just as he raised it, there was a “hissing” sound. A heart-piercing pain traveled from his wrist!
Su Yi squinted and saw a deep, split-open gash on his wrist. The flesh was turned outward, looking like a bloody mouth gaping open at him!
“Slitting wrists?”
The newly-awakened Su Yi looked a bit dazed at the neat wound on his wrist. It was clearly cut by a sharp tool, though the wound was no longer bleeding.
Dried bloodstains were smeared across the snow-white skin, looking like shattered red roses suddenly dropped onto a frozen snowy field—a tragic beauty…
Su Yi’s eyes fell upon a small black mole in the center of the palm. This was fundamentally not his hand.
“To still be alive like this, isn’t it illogical!”
Su Yi clearly remembered a large truck accelerating and crushing toward him. Then, he lost consciousness. The moment of death came quickly and suddenly; he didn’t even have time to feel pain!
At that moment, he felt relieved. Fortunately, he was the only one in the car.
He… if he died, he died. No one cared!
But now… why was he alive again?
And in a body that did not belong to him!
Su Yi lazily closed his eyes again. Perhaps the Grim Reapers had too much work and made a mistake; he would wait a while and see. The Grim Reapers should remember and come to take him away.
But after waiting until he fell asleep and woke up again, the room he saw upon opening his eyes was still this small but very clean one. Why hadn’t they taken him yet? Su Yi stared blankly at that small black mole in the palm of the hand.
The reason Su Yi could tell at a glance that this wasn’t his hand wasn’t because of the skin color or the hand shape; in fact, this person’s skin color and hand shape were very similar to his own.
It was this small black mole. He had no black mole on his palm; all he had was a patch of hideous scars left by repeated cigarette burns!
Those scars were left by him after his mother passed away to redirect the pain. As long as his hand hurt more, it seemed his heart wouldn’t hurt as much!
Those scars had accompanied him through every day and night of his struggle in the entertainment industry!
Su Yi raised his other arm—the one that didn’t hurt—and covered his eyes. His voice sounded muffled as he asked the air:
“Brother, are you still here? If you are, come back. This body of yours is quite durable; by the looks of it, you won’t die!”
“Come back and let me leave. I’m going to find my mother. My mother must still be waiting for me at South District Cemetery.”
“Also, please burn a map for me. I have no sense of direction; I searched for a long time and couldn’t find the way to South District Cemetery.”
After Su Yi finished his instructions, he emptied his mind, waiting for the original owner to come back and push him out.
The result… he waited a long time.
A long time… the sun slowly crawled down the mountain, yet there wasn’t the slightest movement!
Su Yi gave up helplessly and opened his eyes, sighing: “The only person who loved me is gone. What about you? Do you have no one you’re attached to either?”
Just as he finished saying this, large segments of memories that did not belong to Su Yi appeared in his mind. Su Yi processed them for a moment and understood.
“So your name is Qian Xu.”
“Ding-ling-ling…”
A loud metallic sound struck his eardrums. Su Yi followed the sound and fumbled out a phone from under the pillow.
He first glanced at the time on it… nearly a month had already passed since the day of his accident.
The phone was still ringing. The high-decibel metallic tone was very sobering, urging one to end it. Su Yi looked at a string of numbers with no saved name and clicked to answer.
“Qian Xu, don’t forget Director Qiu’s gathering tonight. You kid are in luck; Director Yun is also there tonight. As long as you seize this opportunity well, getting a role in Director Yun’s play is just a matter of a word from Director Qiu.”
It was Qian Xu’s manager, Zhou Bopi. Su Yi raised his hand and cut off the call, ending the noise on the other end.
“It was this person who hounded you to death!”
Su Yi saw from Qian Xu’s memories that Qian Xu had been signed for nearly two years. Zhou Bopi had never arranged a single audition for him; there were only endless drinking parties to deal with.
If it weren’t for the fact that Qian Xu could drink a thousand cups without getting drunk—possessing excellent tolerance that allowed him to drink everyone under the table while remaining sober enough to escape—Qian Xu probably wouldn’t have lasted until now.
And this time, it was because he had secretly taken a near-extra role a while ago, but somehow Zhou Bopi found out.
Zhou Bopi said he was disobedient and thus arranged for him to attend the lecherous old bastard Qiu Liang’s drinking party tonight. This time, Qian Xu knew Zhou Bopi wouldn’t let him escape again, so he proposed to terminate his contract with the company.
Anyway, the two-year contract was about to expire; the liquidated damages shouldn’t be much. At worst, he just wouldn’t stay in this industry anymore.
However, the moment he proposed the termination, Qian Xu discovered that the original two-year contract had been swapped for ten years. That contract, in black and white, indeed bore his signature.
At that moment, Qian Xu felt as if he had fallen into an abyss; he was completely stunned!
In that instant, he finally understood that he had been set up by Zhou Bopi from the very beginning.
Now that he wanted to leave, Zhou Bopi threw astronomical liquidated damages at him and even threatened the safety of his family.
Qian Xu had relied on his older sister since childhood; his sister was his only relative and the person he cared about most. He absolutely could not let his sister and young nephew get into trouble because of him.
Su Yi lay on the bed, his gaze fixed on the ceiling, his eyes as cold as frost blades!
“I will make him pay the price!”
Su Yi clicked on the account to check Qian Xu’s balance, then dialed a number.
The other party listened to the request and confirmed the order. Su Yi sent a deposit over. Just as he was about to put the phone down, a news pop-up caught his eye.
Su Yi picked up the phone again and clicked to see the large red headline: “Movie Star Su Yi’s Cause of Death a Mystery; Car Accident Suspected to be Foul Play!”
“Foul play!”
Su Yi recalled that the car back then indeed targeted him very clearly, with no intention of slowing down. So, someone wanted him dead!
Su Yi gave a cold laugh, the sound icy and chilling!
He didn’t even need to make a deliberate guess. Because he had changed his route home on short notice at that time, the only people who knew his itinerary were the Su family and the Lu family.
If someone wanted him dead, that person was undoubtedly most likely his half-brother, Su Yuyan!
The smile on Su Yi’s face vanished completely, his eyes hiding a ruthlessness he couldn’t conceal. Since he couldn’t die… how could he not retaliate!
He wasn’t the Su Yi of the Su family anymore!
Su Xinghan would never again have the chance to point at his nose and scold him for being unfilial, constantly accusing him of not being as good as his “good brother”!
Su Yi opened the bedside table to look for a Band-Aid and saw two Band-Aids tucked inside a notebook in the drawer.
Tucking Band-Aids into a notebook was a habit of Qian Xu’s. Qian Xu used to record little messages to himself in it from time to time, but he basically hadn’t opened it in these past two years.
Su Yi flipped it open and saw a sentence written by Qian Xu when he first signed and entered this circle: I want to act in a sweet romance, the kind of handsome top student, or a powerful martial artist in a wuxia drama; a cold, pretentious overbearing CEO is also worth a try…
At that time, Qian Xu was only 17. He could dream and was full of imagination and expectations for the future.
Su Yi stroked the handwriting. How happy Qian Xu must have been when he wrote these words; he didn’t know yet what was waiting for him in the following two years!
A layer of mist covered his eyes. Su Yi tilted his head and closed his eyes. He couldn’t die!
Qian Xu’s grudge must be avenged!
His own grudge must also be avenged!
Su Yi took a shower and looked at Qian Xu’s face in the mirror—flawless cold white skin, sharp and grand features, wild and unrestrained.
He was truly suitable for playing a cool young CEO; as a top student, he would definitely be the type to sweep the whole school; as a martial artist, he would surely be a young master from some martial family going out to perform heroic deeds!
So the Qian Xu of that time wasn’t writing nonsense; he knew what he was suited for.
Qian Xu just lacked an opportunity!
Su Yi raised his hand to touch Qian Xu’s face in the mirror, looking at those agile fox eyes, the upturned corners of the eyes carrying a faint, wicked charm.
This aura of being “neither entirely good nor entirely evil”—capable of being both—was actually somewhat similar to the original Su Yi. It was just that the 25-year-old Su Yi’s appearance was more mature and his features sharper!
Two completely different faces, at this moment because of a shared soul, their temperaments became indescribably similar!
Therefore, Su Yi’s series of habitual expressions were a perfect fit on Qian Xu’s face, without any sense of discord!
Su Yi changed into a long-sleeved hoodie to cover his wrists and threw the blood-stained sheets from the bed into the trash bag to take away.
Qian Xu lived in a rented apartment with his sister and young nephew. Because they lived together, his sister would sometimes come to tidy up the trash; he couldn’t let her see this bloody mess, or she would worry.
Su Yi went downstairs to throw away the trash and then went directly to the drinking party tonight.
Su Yi had met that old thing Qiu Liang before. Seeing Su Yi, he wouldn’t even dare to make a sound—a complete coward who bullied the weak and feared the strong, only daring to pick on small newcomers with no background.
The party was set at “Fog and Clouds,” a high-end club. People in the circle generally liked to go to this place; besides good privacy, the staff were very well-trained and their mouths were especially tight, not talking much.
The former Su Yi had naturally been here before. Entering the magnificent main doors, he walked straight through the bustling hall toward the elevator.
Su Yuyan stepped out of the opposite elevator. His gaze swept across a figure. Because that walking posture was too familiar, he couldn’t help but look back repeatedly.
“What are you looking at?” Lu Li followed Su Yuyan’s gaze but didn’t see anyone familiar.
“Nothing.” Su Yuyan was suddenly a bit uneasy. That back view just now, that walking posture, was too much like Su Yi.
But it was impossible. Su Yi was already dead, crushed to pieces, and was now lying lonely in the North District Linze Mountain Cemetery, facing his mother’s grave from north to south, a hundred miles apart.
Even in death, he couldn’t let Su Yi be near his mother!
Su Yi should be all alone!
Whether in life or after death, being alone with no one to love is best!
Su Yuyan steadied his mind and told himself he was just seeing things: “It can’t be Su Yi. Su Yi is already dead.”
Because they were so close, Lu Li completely heard what Su Yuyan was muttering and asked: “You said you saw Su Yi?”
“No!” Su Yuyan denied loudly. “How is that possible? Su Yi is already dead. That person just now just had a walking posture a bit like his.”
“Who did you say looks like him!”
A deep, cold voice came from behind Su Yuyan. The chill emanating from that voice made Su Yuyan unable to stop a shiver. He turned around to meet a pair of deep, piercing eyes.
“Pre… President Zhuang, hello!” Su Yuyan was a bit surprised to see it was Zhuang Qingyuan, and there was even a bit of joy in his heart.
Everyone was looking at him; Zhuang Qingyuan had struck up a conversation with him.
Who was Zhuang Qingyuan? The youngest son of the wealthiest Zhuang family and the founder of Qingyi Media—an existence that not just anyone had the chance to get close to.
Moreover, Zhuang Qingyuan was taking the initiative to talk to him; could it be that he had some thoughts about him?
“President Zhuang, hello. I am Lu Li from the Lu family. I am very happy to meet you here.” Lu Li also knew that people from the Zhuang family were not easy to approach, let alone strike up a conversation with; he had to seize the opportunity.
Zhuang Qingyuan looked at the approaching Lu Li. His already icy gaze turned a few degrees colder, making even the surrounding air drop several degrees.
Lu Li was suppressed by the cold pressure coming from Zhuang Qingyuan. Could it be that he had offended this great deity at some point? He didn’t dare move again, his whole person frozen in place.
Zhuang Qingyuan’s peripheral vision glanced at Lu Li’s outstretched hand and he walked straight past: “Not just anyone is worth me reaching out my hand!”
“Yes, yes, President Zhuang is right. It was my intrusion.” Lu Li didn’t dare to be angry even after being snubbed. After all, the man spoke the truth; the Lu family was not high enough to strike up a conversation with the Zhuang family. So, he retracted his hand and hurriedly apologized.
Zhuang Qingyuan walked up to Su Yuyan, looking down at him. His eyelashes were slightly lowered, making it impossible for people to see his true emotions.
Seeing Zhuang Qingyuan constantly approaching him, Su Yuyan’s heart raced, and his cheeks even flushed slightly red.
As expected, Zhuang Qingyuan had come looking for him!
