The Innocent 'Green Tea' Alpha at Home is Actually My Boss - Chapter 25
Fang Wenbin pointed at Lu Lin, his eyes nearly splitting with rage. “A newcomer who doesn’t know how to respect his seniors, yet has the audacity to shamelessly frame me… how dare you…”
“As a senior, you are neither magnanimous nor polite. You tried to shove someone before even a few words were exchanged. And as a manager, instead of restraining your artist’s violent behavior, you helped him commit workplace bullying.” Sang Weilian’s voice was frigid as he turned toward Wang Jie. “What? If Fang Wenbin tells you to push, you just push?”
“He did tell me to, but I didn’t—” Wang Jie was suffering in silence, desperately trying to defend himself.
“Didn’t what? You’re the one who wanted to push him, and you’re the one who admitted it. Am I wronging you?” Sang Weilian tilted his head to ask Wang Gu, “Did you record everything they just said?”
“I got it.” Wang Gu poked his head out from behind his phone.
In their state of panic after being “framed” by Lu Lin, Fang Wenbin and Wang Jie hadn’t even noticed Wang Gu filming them with his phone.
Wang Jie lunged forward, trying to snatch it. “Delete that video! Do you believe me when I say I’ll report this to President Wan?”
“Why stop at President Wan? You could tell the netizens, too. Let’s see if people think you were justified in being arrogant and looking down on a newcomer, or if Sang Weilian was wrong for stepping in to help out of a sense of justice.” Wang Gu was sharp-tongued, looking as if he were moments away from sticking his tongue out at them.
Wang Jie was left speechless by the rebuttal.
“I can delete it, but I’m taking the person with me.” Sang Weilian shielded Lu Lin behind him. “He has injuries on him. I’m sure you wouldn’t want those injuries to be linked back to you, right?”
Fang Wenbin looked past him. Lu Lin’s eyes were slightly downcast, looking exactly like a bullied victim.
He was used to doing whatever he wanted and had never suffered a loss like this, especially since this person now knew his biggest secret.
He absolutely could not let him leave today!
“No!” After a long silence, Fang Wenbin refused adamantly.
Wang Gu immediately chimed in, “Let me see… this video doesn’t even need compression. It’s less than three minutes long. I’ll contact the media right now…”
“Enough!” Wang Jie interrupted him. “Wenbin, let them go first.”
They still had Wan Tianhai’s promise. As long as they didn’t violate the artist contract, the company wouldn’t abandon Fang Wenbin, their “cash cow.”
Fang Wenbin gritted his teeth, watching helplessly as Lu Lin was led away by Sang Weilian.
“Damn it!”
He kicked the nearby coffee table with all his might, sending it flipping onto the floor.
In the car, Sang Weilian rested his arm on the side, his dark blue eyes looking deep and inscrutable under the dim interior lights.
“You did well today. Dealing with people like him requires a thicker skin than theirs; that’s the only way to leave them with no options,” he praised.
Lu Lin blinked. “Brother, you saw that I did it on purpose?”
“It was that obvious. Do I look stupid?” Sang Weilian arched an eyebrow.
“Of course not, Brother is the smartest!” Lu Lin said hurriedly. “But Brother, why don’t you ask me why I got into a conflict with him?”
“If I don’t ask, are you not going to tell me?” Sang Weilian said lazily, adopting an attitude that clearly meant ‘I dare you not to tell me.’
Lu Lin immediately confessed honestly: “I ran into them in the elevator and heard them mention something. It seems Fang Wenbin once had a mark washed for someone.”
“It was probably for Wu Liao,” Sang Weilian said flatly, showing no hint of surprise.
“Brother, you knew all along?”
“I didn’t know for sure, but I could guess. He started following Wu Liao not long after my debut. Wu Liao is a typical ‘lower-body’ animal; I’ve heard of at least ten or twenty Omegas he’s slept with,” Sang Weilian said. “During the years he managed Guangyue, many artists were harassed by him. They just didn’t dare speak up because of his power.”
“In his eyes, Omegas and even Betas are just playthings. Even Alphas weaker than him rarely escape.”
It was the existence of such Alphas that made Sang Weilian, who already suffered from Pheromone Disorder, loathe Alphas with ill intentions to his very core.
“As for Fang Wenbin, being ‘famous’ is more important to him than his own life.”
At the thought of the grievances Sang Weilian must have suffered at the hands of those two, Lu Lin couldn’t hide his anger. His face darkened as he muttered, “A rotten pot for a rotten lid.”
Sang Weilian raised an eyebrow and asked, “Then what are you and I?”
Lu Lin froze, then couldn’t help but mumble, “I don’t treat ‘fame’ as my life. I treat you as my life.”
“What?” Sang Weilian didn’t hear clearly and leaned in closer.
He bent his waist and tilted his head, looking up at Lu Lin from below.
Lu Lin didn’t even have to move to be caught off guard by the collision of their gazes. His nose was filled with the scent of two pheromones swirling together; Sang Weilian still carried his temporary mark.
Thinking of this, Lu Lin’s heart skipped a beat. He looked away, his face flushed and ears burning.
He was afraid he might lose control and kiss him; his heart was currently beating out of his chest.
Sang Weilian, however, didn’t give him a chance to hide. He reached up to pinch Lu Lin’s chin, forcing him to turn back and face him, then asked again, “What did you say?”
Lu Lin took a deep breath and replied, “I said… we are in a proper business relationship.”
“Really?” Sang Weilian felt like the syllable count of that sentence was off.
Lu Lin didn’t answer directly, but asked back, “Does Brother think there should be anything else between us besides a proper business relationship?”
Sang Weilian was stunned by the question. After a moment, he slowly let go of his hand.
“Of course not.”
An exchange of interests was enough. He didn’t like anything beyond that.
Lu Lin’s frantic heartbeat gradually slowed down. He clenched his hand against his thigh and nodded obediently, making sure not to cause Sang Weilian any unnecessary trouble.
The day before joining the film crew, Lu Lin’s wound had healed. Accompanied by Sang Weilian, he went to Dr. Xu to have the stitches removed.
As a high-quality Alpha, his wound had healed remarkably fast. Although the new flesh was pink and the scar was visible, his role in The Glorious CEO only consisted of three pages of script. With so few appearances, the shooting angles could be adjusted easily, so it had almost no impact on filming.
However, Sang Weilian, acting with the mindset of a first-time “sugar daddy” wanting to settle his “canary’s” first job properly, personally escorted Lu Lin to the set.
Ma Dongdong didn’t know he was coming. Seeing him suddenly made the small film set feel like it was glowing with prestige. He was instantly filled with the confidence that The Glorious CEO would definitely be a massive hit.
Once a person becomes confident, they become bolder.
Holding his phone and ignoring the crew members who were huddling together to gossip about the relationship between Sang Weilian and Lu Lin, he asked Sang Weilian, “Film King Sang, would you like to take a group photo together?”
Wang Gu originally wanted to stop it. If they took a photo together right after dropping someone off at the set, what kind of rumors would people spread if it were posted online?
But on second thought, being secretive would actually make it look suspicious. Besides, though the script for The Glorious CEO wasn’t brilliant, it was at least a normal, inspirational drama meant for satellite TV. If Sang Weilian helped promote it, even if it was a bit beneath his status, it could debunk negative rumors like “hating Alphas” or “stealing resources from newcomers.”
Sang Weilian naturally thought of what Wang Gu was thinking. Moreover, before arranging for Lu Lin to join the crew, he had promised Ma Dongdong he would help with promotion. So, he immediately agreed to the photo request.
Ma Dongdong quickly picked a good angle and took several shots, then swiftly posted the photo of himself and Sang Weilian on the drama’s official Weibo account.
The comment section was instantly flooded with Sang Weilian’s fans.
“It’s a fresh Weilian-gege!”
“Ahhh it’s Sang-bao! Did he go to visit the set?”
“The rumors about him having a cameo were true?”
“Sang-bao is actually going to act in a TV drama? I don’t care! I’ll support whatever he acts in!”
“Heavens, this peerless beauty. I haven’t seen Sang-bao for only three days and I’m already going crazy with longing [Crazy.gif]”
“Support Sang-bao in TV dramas! Make sure to rest while filming. Love you forever [Heart.jpg]”
Looking at the trending heat, Ma Dongdong rubbed his hands and asked, “If it’s convenient for Film King Sang, could you perhaps repost it? It’s fine if it’s not convenient.”
Sang Weilian didn’t answer but asked Lu Lin instead, “Do you have a Weibo?”
The word “Yes” almost slipped out of Lu Lin’s mouth. He only had a side account used for lurking on Sang Weilian’s profile. Fortunately, he wasn’t that fast and swallowed the words, forcing his brain to change the answer: “No, should I register one?”
“It’s up to you.” Sang Weilian didn’t care much. He declined Ma Dongdong’s request. “There’s no need for a repost for now. It won’t be too late to repost when the drama airs.”
“Alright, alright.” Ma Dongdong didn’t dare ask for too much and agreed repeatedly.
“Then I’ll trouble Director Ma to take care of my ‘younger brother’.” Sang Weilian smiled.
Ma Dongdong nodded frantically. “Rest assured, there will be no problem at all.”
After settling everything, Sang Weilian withdrew his hand from Lu Lin’s shoulder and turned to walk away, seemingly without any lingering attachment.
Lu Lin stared intently at his back until his figure disappeared around the corner.
“Director Ma, I’m sorry, I left something in the car. I’ll go grab it and be right back.”
Without waiting for Ma Dongdong’s reply, he chased after the direction Sang Weilian had gone.
“Skipping work on your first day?” In the shadows blocked by the production van, Sang Weilian leaned against the wall in a relaxed posture, watching Lu Lin run toward him.
Lu Lin panted as he slowed his pace, rounded the van, and stood before Sang Weilian.
This was a narrow, dark alley with a dead end. The entrance was shielded by the black production van, ensuring they wouldn’t be seen by anyone.
“How did Brother know I would come out?” Lu Lin asked.
“The scent of pheromones, and… my understanding of puppies.” Sang Weilian crossed his arms and looked at him, a faint smile in his eyes that softened his cold aura.
For some reason, having correctly guessed that Lu Lin would chase after him made him feel quite good.
Today was the last day the temporary mark would exist. The mountain-spring-scented pheromones on Sang Weilian were already very faint. Because he had sprayed a blocker, Lu Lin couldn’t smell his own pheromones on the other man, giving him the fleeting illusion that the brand he had left had already vanished.
He took another step forward. “What kind of puppy habit?”
“Separation anxiety toward the master,” Sang Weilian said, cutting straight to the point.
Lu Lin pressed another step closer, the distance between their breaths no more than half an inch. Sang Weilian subconsciously straightened up, his dark blue eyes meeting Lu Lin’s ink-black pupils.
“So, is the Master willing to alleviate the puppy’s separation anxiety?” Lu Lin’s voice was low, raspy, and full of grievance. His arms were already circling Sang Weilian’s waist, as if certain the other would definitely agree.
Sang Weilian raised his hand, his thumb brushing over Lu Lin’s lower lip before moving back to cradle the back of his neck. He pulled the man close with ease and bit his lower lip.
Amidst their mingled breaths, he said, “Only one kiss. When Master isn’t here, the Young Master must be well-behaved.”
