The Innocent 'Green Tea' Alpha at Home is Actually My Boss - Chapter 21
A ball of fire burned in Sang Weilian’s heart. Lu Lin had always been obedient; he usually only kept quiet when he was feeling wronged, but otherwise, he would tell him everything. This time, however, he hadn’t.
“I…” Lu Lin’s expression stiffened slightly.
How had a simple police statement caused things to veer so far from his expectations? His original plan to wait until today’s arrangements were settled before taking the initiative to mention the camera had completely fallen through.
“You even let Wan Tianhai help you deliver it to the police station? Are you that close with Wan Tianhai? No wonder you didn’t come to complain to me when he was lecturing you last time. It seems I’ve been meddling where I’m not wanted.” The more he thought about it, the more dissatisfied he became. Sang Weilian stood up abruptly, a nameless irritability surging within him.
If Lu Lin hadn’t told anyone about this, he probably wouldn’t be feeling this uncomfortable.
“No, Brother,” Lu Lin didn’t care about anything else and grabbed Sang Weilian in a hug. “Brother, please don’t be angry.”
“Let go!” Lu Lin was strong, and Sang Weilian couldn’t break free; his tone grew even colder.
The force encircling him diminished, and Lu Lin actually let go.
Sang Weilian looked down at the hands that had released him, and his anger flared even higher. He turned around in disbelief: “You…!”
Lu Lin said pitifully, “Brother, I was wrong. I shouldn’t have told someone else before telling you. I have no relationship with General Representative Wan at all, I swear!”
Those eyes, which should have been sharp as a hawk’s, were now bloodshot and brimming with obvious tears, looking as if he might cry the next second. Lu Lin bent his back, lowering his stature; his attitude in begging for forgiveness was extremely sincere.
Sang Weilian pursed his lips tightly, forcing himself not to soften.
Naturally, Lu Lin wasn’t going to give up. He cautiously reached out his hand. Fearing that Sang Weilian wouldn’t forgive him, he observed Sang Weilian’s expression with every inch his fingertips moved forward, his breath held in a tentative manner.
Finally, touching Sang Weilian’s slightly cool fingertips, Lu Lin slowly hooked his hand and took a step forward.
“Brother, I’m sorry. I made you angry because of my improper handling and lack of consideration.” He apologized first before giving a general account of the sequence of events. However, he omitted his direct contact with Wan Tianhai, claiming instead that he had asked Song He to help him get in touch.
“Because the camera captured my face, I didn’t want any bad rumors about you to spread outside, so I turned the camera off and hid it. You were startled yesterday, Brother, and weren’t in a good state. I really didn’t want to tell you and add to your troubles.”
“It was my fault for not considering your feelings. In the future, if anything happens, I will definitely tell you immediately.”
“I really know I was wrong. You don’t have to forgive me, Brother, but please don’t make yourself sick with anger.” Lu Lin held Sang Weilian’s hand. “I’m thick-skinned; you can hit me or scold me as you like, I promise I won’t cry out in pain.”
His skin brushed against the different texture of the white gauze, bringing a faint, uncomfortable itch.
Seeing the injury Lu Lin had sustained because of him, Sang Weilian finally softened: “Fine, that’s enough.”
He pulled his hand back. The apology had been made, the explanation given, and most of the fire in his heart had dissipated.
In truth, what he was angry about was that Lu Lin had told someone else first instead of coming to him. But why was he angry about that? Was he really going to demand that Lu Lin report everything to him and put him first no matter what?
Why not?
Sang Weilian suddenly came to his senses.
That’s right, why not?
He was Lu Lin’s benefactor; he should be placed first!
“In the future, if anything happens especially things related to me you must tell me first,” Sang Weilian warned, looking up.
“Okay, I’ll listen to everything you say, Brother.” Lu Lin had always known how to “take a mile when given an inch,” and he immediately leaned in, kissing Sang Weilian’s hand in a pleasing manner.
When Lu Lin looked up again, he was extremely close.
Their breaths intertwined. The other man’s outstanding features and superior lip line caused Sang Weilian to daze for a moment.
Quickly, he reacted.
He knew why Su Kangping had looked familiar. It wasn’t because he was some major figure who appeared on the evening news, but because Su Kangping’s eyebrows and lip shape were strikingly similar to Lu Lin’s. Even the eyes were a bit alike, though Su Kangping was an Omega and his gaze wasn’t as aggressive as Lu Lin’s.
“What’s wrong?” Seeing Sang Weilian staring at him in silence, Lu Lin wondered if there was some other oversight he’d missed.
Sang Weilian didn’t say a word. Although Lu Lin and Su Kangping looked alike, the probability of a blood relationship was extremely low. However, Lu Lin had just been hiding things from him, and there wasn’t even a single family photo in his home. If there really was something…
A phone ring suddenly interrupted Sang Weilian’s thoughts. Lu Lin pulled his phone out of his pocket in front of him, glanced at it, and said, “Brother, my mom is calling. Can I go take this?”
He didn’t try to hide it at all. Sang Weilian saw the caller ID saved as “Ms. Fang.”
The surname wasn’t “Su.” It seemed the resemblance between Su Kangping and Lu Lin really was just a coincidence.
His doubts dispelled, he nodded: “Mhm.”
Lu Lin took his phone into the bedroom and only pressed the answer button after making sure the door was closed.
“Mom, why are you calling?”
“I heard from your uncle that you were injured, so I called to check on you,” a pleasant, sweet voice came from the other end of the line.
Before Lu Lin could answer, Lu Yuguo’s voice followed immediately: “Wife, why do you care about him? He’s an unfilial son!”
“Oh, stop being so noisy.” After scolding her husband, Su Fangyi asked Lu Lin with a smile, “So, my precious daughter-in-law isn’t hurt, right? Was he very scared? Did you stay with him properly?”
Lu Lin: “…”
He had been overthinking things.
“Mom, I haven’t caught Weilian yet. Don’t use titles like that; it’ll be a problem if the secret gets out.” Lu Lin reminded her seriously. He already had one foot out the door; until he successfully pursued him, he couldn’t reveal his identity.
“Don’t worry, I know. You should remind your uncle instead; he’s the one who can’t keep a secret,” Su Fangyi couldn’t help but say.
“He won’t. Uncle is in North City all year round and won’t have contact with Weilian. Today was just an exception,” Lu Lin said. “Weilian is fine, though he might have been startled. He wasn’t in a good state yesterday, but he looked much better when he got up this morning.”
“That’s good. You’re an Alpha, so I’m not worried if you get a little hurt. Anyway, you Alphas are all physical monsters.”
“Yes, yes. I’m really troubled that you had to make this call.” Lu Lin hung up the phone, caught between laughter and tears.
In the afternoon, Su Kangping and Secretary Wang took the relevant evidence and escorted Liu Yingguang back to North City. With the help of the police, no information was leaked online, and the matter was considered completely settled.
The next morning, Sang Weilian departed from Lu Lin’s house and headed to the SP magazine office.
The full name of SP magazine is Stellar Pages. As an internationally renowned mainstream fashion publication, those who appear on the cover are figures with powerful global influence or world-famous fashion models. Before Sang Weilian, in more than sixty years since its founding, only two celebrities had been featured in the magazine, and even then, they weren’t on the cover, only in the inner pages.
“You’ve had so many bad things happen lately; this magazine today can be considered a blessing in disguise.” Wang Gu thought back to the day SP called to invite Sang Weilian to shoot the summer issue cover; after hanging up, he had laughed for a full five minutes.
While other artists were tearing each other apart for the fashion resources of the “Big Three” magazines, Sang Weilian’s fashion resources were already eight hundred miles ahead of them.
SP wasn’t a place you could get into just by having capital behind you to pull strings. Other teams were grinding their teeth in frustration because Sang Weilian, who had only been debuted for three years, was appearing in the magazine, but they were powerless.
Who else but Sang Weilian had been a consecutive Best Actor winner?
“You’re laughing too loudly.” Sang Weilian shifted his gaze from his phone screen and stared at the back of Wang Gu’s head as he chuckled strangely.
Wang Gu gave two “haha” laughs. “Ah, I can’t help it. When good things happen, one feels refreshed. Other managers work like oxen or horses, but I’m here enjoying a life of ease with you.”
“By the way, have you decided on the hair color for the shoot this afternoon?”
“Gold.” Lu Lin’s voice from that day popped into his mind, and Sang Weilian repeated it subconsciously.
“Gold?” Wang Gu muttered. “Although you’ve never dyed it gold before, wouldn’t it be too plain?”
“I don’t know,” Sang Weilian replied tonelessly. “But we can try.”
Wang Gu paused, asking suspiciously, “Could it be that kid Lu Lin suggested it?”
Sang Weilian raised an eyebrow and didn’t answer, which was clearly a default “yes.”
Wang Gu: “…”
He shouldn’t have asked. But how long had it been? Lu Lin was already able to give Sang Weilian advice on his work.
Today was a public schedule. There were fans waiting outside the magazine building, so Wang Gu drove the car directly to the entrance.
The fans were very polite. Although they craned their necks and stretched out their hands to record videos with their phones, not a single one crowded the front of the car. They automatically formed several rows outside the door, leaving the path to the entrance open.
Sang Weilian didn’t go on variety shows or film TV dramas; he only appeared on the big screen. He didn’t rely on trending topics or traffic to keep fans, so everyone was extra enthusiastic because opportunities to see him were rare. They chanted his name in unison, and some tried to give him gifts and letters.
Wang Gu did as Sang Weilian instructed: he took the letters but declined the gifts.
Surrounded by fans, Sang Weilian walked into the magazine building and met the staff members who came to greet him before entering the elevator.
Taking advantage of the small crowd, Sang Weilian instructed, “When you order drinks later, buy a cup of milk tea for the fans too.”
“No problem.”
A staff member heard this and couldn’t help but say, “Teacher Sang, you really are both handsome and kind-hearted.”
Sang Weilian took it as a compliment and thanked them politely.
Two hours later, Sang Weilian’s new hair color was finished, and Wang Gu’s mouth fell open in surprise.
The golden strands were like lines formed by stars in a distant night sky, making Sang Weilian’s already fair skin appear even more translucent. His dark blue pupils looked even more like a boundless night sky. Only this time, the night sky was filled with stars, thinning the coldness and aloofness of the night, making Sang Weilian appear several degrees softer and overlaying him with a layer of shallow yet clear noble warmth.
“What? Is it ugly?” Sang Weilian looked up and ran his fingers through the hair on his forehead; he was quite satisfied with it.
Wang Gu shook his head repeatedly: “How could it be! It’s too beautiful! It’s like a… a…”
“A noble prince from an ancient castle!” the stylist cut in excitedly.
“Exactly!” Wang Gu muttered subconsciously. “I didn’t expect that kid Lu Lin to have such good taste.”
“Teacher Sang is truly too good-looking; he looks good no matter what color he dyes it! If this hair color were on my head, people would laugh their heads off!” The stylist’s voice was loud, almost completely drowning out Wang Gu’s low mutter.
Wang Gu immediately snapped back to his senses: Right! What does it have to do with that kid Lu Lin? It’s purely because Sang Weilian is naturally beautiful!
So he immediately followed up by saying, “There’s no helping it, our Weilian’s natural conditions are too good. And Teacher, your dyeing skills are also incredible!”
The stylist giggled. Sang Weilian sat back down calmly; dyeing the hair was only the first step, and there was still makeup and styling to be done, which would take a while.
He had been close to Wang Gu just now and had heard what he muttered. He couldn’t help but want to add a bit of fun to the tedious styling process.
Thus, he raised his phone, took a photo of himself in the mirror, and while no one was paying attention, secretly sent it to Lu Lin.
