The Innocent 'Green Tea' Alpha at Home is Actually My Boss - Chapter 22
Yesterday, Lu Lin had made Sang Weilian angry because of the camera incident. Although he had managed to coax him back into good spirits, Lu Lin didn’t want a repeat performance. He went straight to the CEO’s office on the 57th floor and chatted with Wan Tianhai for over half an hour.
At the end of their meeting, Wan Tianhai brought out an earphone gift box and said, “Mr. Sang brought this over the day before yesterday. He said he brought one for the CEO and asked me to forward it. So, this is from Mr. Sang to you.”
Lu Lin’s eyes brightened for a split second, and he quickly reached out to take it.
Seeing his reaction, Wan Tianhai hesitated. “Mr. Sang also gave one to Assistant Song and me. Should we bring ours over to you as well?”
Hearing that everyone had one, the brief joy of being remembered vanished instantly.
Lu Lin, the CEO of Guangyue Entertainment, was a stranger to Sang Weilian; the only version of Lu Lin that Sang Weilian knew was the rookie actor who hadn’t debuted yet.
Even though he had known this fact for a long time, Lu Lin couldn’t help but feel a surge of jealousy.
He restrained himself with great effort before saying in a low voice, “Keep what he gave you. If I have too many of them at my place and Weilian sees them, it’ll be hard to explain.”
“Understood.”
“How is the selection for the assistant I asked you to pick?” Lu Lin hadn’t forgotten the main business he came for today.
“The candidates are in the room next to the pre-arranged interview room. We’ve set up a live monitor. Whenever you’re ready, Song He and I will head over.” Wan Tianhai switched the computer screen to the live feed. The angle was perfect, providing a clear view of the interview room with excellent audio quality.
“Go ahead then.” Lu Lin thought for a moment and added, “Keep three people. Check if there are other decent artists in the company who need assistants. Aside from the one for Weilian, assign the other two to them as well. That way, if Weilian asks, it’ll be easier to explain.”
“Understood,” Wan Tianhai replied respectfully as he closed the office door behind him.
Because twenty-four people had passed the preliminary and second rounds, the interview process moved slowly. By the time Lu Lin received a message from Sang Weilian, they had only finished interviewing half of the candidates.
Seeing that it was already lunchtime, he sent a message to Wan Tianhai to pause the sessions until the afternoon. Then, with a face full of smiles, he replied to Sang Weilian.
LLin: Brother, you really dyed it gold! LLin: [Bear Excitement.gif] LLin: [Bear Shy.gif] LLin: You look so good, Brother. You really do look like a prince [Heart.jpg] LLin: Have you had lunch? You must not work on an empty stomach!
S_: The magazine agency ordered food. I’ll eat a bit later.
Lu Lin always replied instantly. Since the stylists were currently coordinating several sets of outfits, Sang Weilian also replied immediately.
LLin: That’s good!
LLin: I’m in your lounge right now. I’ll go to the company cafeteria to eat later.
S_: What are you doing in the lounge?
At the mention of the lounge, unpleasant memories resurfaced. Sang Weilian’s brow furrowed as he typed.
LLin: When I arrived at the company this morning, Acting CEO Wan sought me out.
LLin: He said your lounge has been disinfected. Since Wang Gu is with you at work and I’m your “brother,” he asked me to check it out first to make sure everything is okay.
LLin: I’ve checked everything not a single corner was missed! It’s spotless! All the furniture has been replaced with new pieces identical to what you used before.
LLin: Want me to take a photo for you?
S_: No need.
Sang Weilian didn’t want to look at a place that once held traces of Liu Yingguang. However, since it was the lounge he would continue to use in the future, avoiding it wasn’t a permanent solution. He changed his mind.
S_: Take one.
Lu Lin didn’t ask further and obediently sent a photo.
The lounge was indeed cleaned spotlessly. Sang Weilian felt much more at ease.
LLin: Can I stay in your lounge for a while longer after I finish lunch at the cafeteria?
Sang Weilian raised an eyebrow in confusion at this message.
S_: Why?
LLin: I want to leave my pheromones here. LLin: That way, Brother won’t think of anyone else.
When Sang Weilian read these two sentences, the hand holding his phone trembled, and his fingernails felt numb. Heat rose along his spine, flushing his ears and cheeks.
Is this person crazy? What kind of puppy behavior is this?
S_: Are you a dog?
LLin: [Pitiful.gif] LLin: Dogs all have owners. Brother is my owner (^-^)V
Sang Weilian wanted to scold him, but a staff member from the magazine arrived at that inconvenient moment to deliver his meal.
Feeling a sense of “thief-like” guilt, he quickly typed a “Suit yourself” and shut off his phone.
Sitting in the lounge, Lu Lin saw the reply and felt satisfied. His slender fingers brushed over every piece of clothing Sang Weilian had left in the room, and he even settled onto the sofa to take a nap.
In the afternoon, Sang Weilian changed into his first outfit to shoot the magazine cover.
The theme for this summer issue of SP was “Prominent.” After consulting with the stylists, Sang Weilian chose an outfit that was the least similar to his usual image.
A milky-white silk ribbon was tied around his neck, draped over a light blue thin robe. The back featured an intricate hollowed-out pattern. Below the mismatched white shorts were a pair of long, straight legs. His bare feet stepped amidst white flower petals. The most eye-catching feature was the blooming bright red rose hidden within the hollowed pattern on his back.
The editor-in-chief had discussed the selection for the cover and inner pages with Sang Weilian beforehand. They decided the cover would focus on the wild rose on his back and his profile. Therefore, most of the shots taken for this set were from behind.
The profile shots, enhanced by the lighting, looked almost divinely beautiful. The photographer couldn’t bear to let go of the shutter, taking seventy or eighty shots of the same pose in a row.
After the shoot for the inner pages concluded, Sang Weilian went over to select the photos. He saw the retoucher adding a layer of shadow to one of the back-profile shots. This shadow gave his profile a hazy sense of being hidden in the dark, but it didn’t diminish the impact of the bright red rose at all.
In an instant, the bright and sunny Omega transformed into a blood-colored rose covered in thorns.
“Actually, I think this one is quite good,” the retoucher couldn’t help but recommend.
Sang Weilian shook his head and pointed to the style he and the editor had previously agreed upon. “Let’s go with the previous one.”
“Ah… what a pity.” The retoucher was reluctant to delete it, but since it was work, he prepared to follow the instructions.
Sang Weilian stopped him from clicking exit. “Save this one. Please send a copy to me separately.”
“Does Teacher Sang… also think it’s good? Are you going to post it on Weibo?” the retoucher asked curiously.
“The effect is indeed good.” As for its use, he didn’t intend to tell anyone, but an enigmatic smile appeared on his face.
Just a moment ago, he had been teased by Lu Lin’s comment about staying in the lounge.
He had always been competitive. He wondered what reaction that “bad puppy” would have when he saw this photo.
The interviews lasted until 3:00 PM. In the end, Lu Lin chose a girl named Zhang Chuntao, a Beta who had just graduated from university and had served as a class secretary.
Although Zhang Chuntao was a bit introverted, didn’t talk much, and wasn’t smooth enough in social situations, Wang Gu would handle the networking. She only needed to take good care of Sang Weilian. This kind of person without ulterior motives, meticulous, cautious, and tight-lipped was the most suitable.
As for the other two lucky candidates, they were chosen by Wan Tianhai and Song He. Since they weren’t being assigned to Sang Weilian, Lu Lin didn’t care much.
Afterward, the three went through the formal onboarding process. Naturally, it was inconvenient for Lu Lin to show his face, so he left everything to Wan Tianhai. He picked up his phone, preparing to report back to Sang Weilian.
In the chat box, he had just typed the word “Brother” when a picture suddenly arrived from the other side.
Lu Lin froze and clicked the image to enlarge it.
The visual impact was instantaneous and immense. A second later, he lowered his head and pressed the voice message button.
“Brother, I’m finished…”
Sang Weilian hadn’t expected a voice message. Luckily, his hand didn’t slip to play it out loud. Since work was finished, he sent Wang Gu to wait in the car while he stayed in the lounge to listen to the message privately.
Before listening, he thought it would be a compliment, but he didn’t expect such a nonsensical sentence.
Finished? Why finished? Is the photo not good enough?
The confident Sang Weilian zoomed in and out of the photo, looking at it four or five times. He wasn’t usually this narcissistic, but this one was truly beyond reproach. At most… it didn’t show his full face?
Just as he was wondering, another voice message arrived from Lu Lin.
Sang Weilian played it. The man’s voice was low and hoarse, as if he were trying hard to restrain something.
“It’s too beautiful. I can’t sit still.”
Another one followed immediately.
“Can I go to your lounge and stay a bit longer?”
And another.
“Never mind. I’m going to the restroom.”
Sang Weilian wasn’t a dense person. He instantly understood the meaning behind those words and simply placed a call.
Lu Lin took a while to answer. His voice was low and raspy, and his surroundings were quiet, making it impossible to tell where he was.
“Brother…”
From that single word, Sang Weilian heard several layers of meaning: suppression, longing, and desire—all triggered simply by a photo of him.
His self-esteem was greatly satisfied, and the corners of Sang Weilian’s mouth couldn’t help but curl upward.
His tone was playful. “It’s just one photo. Is it really that good-looking?”
“It’s beautiful.” If Lu Lin wasn’t afraid of being photographed, he would definitely set it as his wallpaper—he even wanted to print it out and carry it with him every day.
That bright red wild rose was just like Sang Weilian emitting a seductive pheromone mysterious, dangerous, alluring, and sweet. Moreover, today, Sang Weilian still bore the temporary mark he had given him.
The red rose wasn’t drawn very large; it could be covered by a single hand.
If his hand pressed down on it, he wouldn’t even need much force to leave more “red flowers” around the wild rose.
Sang Weilian smirked again. “So beautiful that you’re hard?”
Exposed, and with those “dirty” words in his ear, Lu Lin felt his legs go weak. He pleaded, “Brother, stop teasing me. You still have my temporary mark on you. I really can’t help it.”
“If I’m like this… will you think poorly of me? Am I being disobedient?”
At the mention of the temporary mark, Sang Weilian instinctively reached up to touch the gland on the back of his neck.
Because he had sprayed a neutralizer before coming to work, he couldn’t smell the refreshing scent of the mountain spring himself, but the teeth marks were hidden beneath the silk ribbon, thoroughly concealed with concealer.
This was a secret between him and Lu Lin.
Hidden and stimulating.
Sang Weilian felt the air become scorching. He loosened the ribbon and said, “Go to the car. My car is parked in the garage.”
Lu Lin obeyed. “But I don’t have the car keys.”
“I’ll open it for you,” Sang Weilian commanded. “Call me via video when you get there.”
